I NEED YOUR HELP, ESP IF YOU'RE NON-ASIAN!!!

If you meet an old lady (70+ years old) on the street, do you address her as "grandma" or what?

What my friends came with:

Italian best friend: Old fart

Someone I went to high school with: Ma'am

My friend from middle school: a very mature woman

OTL Can you guys help me? As you can tell, my friends aren't the most helpful... Even Mr. "I got a 34 on my ACT in 9th grade and a 36 on it in 11th" wasn't helpful. He told me to "be creative." Yes Jakey Poo, creative.... >.>

So... help?

I want to use it in a story setting, as in like

"Does the little princess want an apple?" asked the _____________________.

Thanks a bunch~

I`m non Asian and I usually just address her as ma'am. But I guess in a story setting you could say 'the kind old lady' or 'old woman'. Just don't address her as that XD Women are defensive about their ages.

We asians call them usually grandma but i guess westerns prefer the professional way of addressing them so they would probably call her MRS. or Madam.

Old lady or Old woman ( I'm asian btw so IDK if this will help you). I agree with the comments below me saying that when you address her, say Ma'am.

Old lady or old women, but if I'm speaking with her, then it's Ma'am.
