They sang the vast majority of their lives LIVE, and at excellent quality for any group, but especially for rookies.
LIP-SYNCING: If your bias group lip-synced at an award show, who would you blame: the group, or its management?
Don't blame EXO, but SM Entertainment, for ingeniously making their rookie group lip-sync at a famous award show + their debut, the 2 lives that everyone would watch.

Vocals? Actually probably the worst argument you could choose, since in B.A.P only Daehyun and Youngjae get real vocals in most of their songs. Daehyun is exceptional consistently belting high notes every single live while dancing intensive choreography, Youngjae has a strong voice and is extremely talented and consistent though he gets shafted on lines and thus gets less attention. Luckily they make up for this weakness, since Bang Yong Guk and Zelo are amazing rappers. BYG writes all his own raps with deep lyrics, used to be a respected underground rapper, and can free-style with ease. Zelo the lightning-speed prodigy and also a very strong dancer since as young as the 5th grade. Jongup is an amazing dancer who can breakdance do headspins and still sing his lines while doing a backflip. 5/6 members are exceptionally talented and just 1/6 weaker member Himchan, who actually holds his ground live, is a charismatic distinctive performer, and never seems like the weak link live despite how amazing the other members are.
5/6 exceptionally-talented members, 1 weaker member. 2 strong vocals. 1 extremely talented dancer. 2 extremely talented rappers.

If you'd like to compare, EXO has extremely strong vocals D.O. and Baekhyun. D.O. also belts high notes powerfully and consistently, yet also exceptionally good rapper, possibly the best beat-boxer between both of the two groups. Baekhyun a strong, powerful and consistent vocalist, can also beat-box. (For doubters on Exo's vocals, listen to Angel.) Everybody already knows Kai is an amazing dancer. Chanyeol is an amazing rapper who spits them out so fast you can't even blink with flow and charisma, his idol is Eminem and you can see the influence in his rapping style, an excellent performer, maybe one of the best idol rappers period. Suho is a strong and consistent live singer too despite intensive choreography. Only Sehun is the "weak" member (only saying this because I haven't yet looked for any specific videos about him), but I've heard he has talent in dancing.
4/6 exceptionally-talented members, 1 still strong member, 1 weak member. 3 strong vocals. 1 extremely talented dancer. 1 extremely talented rapper, 1 very good rapper.

Their choreo is equally as difficult in different ways, so they're both performing under comparable conditions.
Their overall dancing skill = equal.

EXO's Music: their album was one of the strongest albums of 2012, what the HELL are you talking about? MAMA, What Is Love, HISTORY, Angel, Two Moons, MACHINE: their music is ALSO one of the weakest points to attack them with because every track on MAMA is strong.
B.A.P's musical strong point is their distinctive sound: they have their own style, they experiment in multiple genres, and they are self-involved in its production. But though they have their own extremely good songs, the quality of their songs is more spread out since they produced so many releases in such a short period of time. (One Shot EP is probably their most comparable release to MAMA EP yet.)
Both groups' music have deep meaningful lyrics and strong themes which generally defy the typical Kpop "love" songs.

The major one-ups B.A.P has over EXO is their distinctive and unique image/style/concept, charisma.
So what's EXO's main weak point? Their lack of a distinctive group concept. Which is entirely SM'S FAULT, since EXO is actually one of the most talented rookie groups.
EXO's charisma is actually overall strong, relatively impressive for a rookie group, but B.A.P just wins because their charisma is one of their trump cards.
B.A.P's other one-up is over EXO-K, the amount of attention given to each member.
Exo-K as everyone knows is all about the face member Kai.
In Exo-M, the member focus is about equally distributed as B.A.P's (3/6 members get a lot of attention).

I prefer B.A.P personally because of their concept and personalities, but EXO is my 2nd favorite male rookie group. For obvious reasons if you didn't just read all of that.
People who immediately start hating on them discount them as "talentless" based on them being in SM, 2 live performances, and spat on AKP? Are just bandwagoners who believe everything they hear without actually checking and trying to form an opinion for themselves first. Or people who feel pressured by peer pressure, don't have the courage to defend an unpopular group in AKP, and go along with the flow.

Nobody usually has the guts to say it, so I just put it all out there.
Seriously guys your hating on Exo is lame.
