Proud to be an under-the-radar writer.

I don't think this is something that needs to be said but i just want to share my point of view with other writers on this site or any site.

I see a lot of people leaving or become depressed over certain reasons and although I respect their decision I always feel like their could have been another way.

I actually like being an "under-the-radar"writer. I don't have certain expectations being upon nor do I have to worry about pleasing people. I write solely for myself. For fun. As a way to express myself and let go. I love that I have great loyal readers but what I love more than anything is that I can keep up with them and reply to them and make friends. People tend to lose sight of that and become too focused or too attentive to what people think or say when it shouldn't matter. Though I love and appreciate having new subscribers to my fics I personally like comments better. And not just complimenting, I love when people get into the story and give their true opinions about the plot or the characters. Who they like or don't like. Or who they can relate to. It actually does help a lot and though silent readers get a lot of crap, I'm pretty grateful for them too.

Anywhoo, I just wanted to put that out there. I wish I could write more but I probably sound like an idiot since I'm typing on my phone And if keeps autocorrecting me. -.- not cool.

Dude, i don't even have those loyal readers who subscribe to every one of my stories. Feedback is something id really like though. I think having more friends (who actually care about you) would help, but im never the one to send requests T_T

It's honestly very hard though to find that sweet spot on AFF.
Like, you do want readers. It to have a new story and have no readers whatsoever. Like yes you can be writing for fun, but when there's no one to back you up, no one will notice. (Which is why having friends on here is very important so you can beg them to sub for now :3)
On the other hand, things do get out of control once you have more than a hundred subs. And who wants to be featured anyway when you get hundred of comments going "Congrats" just so they can get karma?
I totally agree with you that it's awesome to be an under-radar writer, but reaching that point and being satisfied with that is a tedious journey.
