The Hobbit ~ Unexpected Journey ~

OMG OMG OMG OMG

I've finally watched the HOBBIT! WOOOWWOOOWOOOOWOOOOO

I LOVE IT VERY MUCH!!! HARRHARRHARRRRRRRRRMARTINFREEMAAAANNNNHARRHARRRRR

Okay... Let's be serious for now...

Honestly, at first, I was a bit worried. The pace was a bit dragging at the beginning and I was starting to feel a bit... bored. But I told myself, 'don't yawn now!' and kept on waiting. The scene at Bilbo's house was really nice, serving as a way to introduce the characters, especially the dwarves. But I felt that it dragged too long. I wasn't bothered even a slightest though, when the dwarves started singing (eventhough the guy beside me was laughing all the time. I felt like shushing him, but didn't have the courage...), I think the dwarves' theme song is a really beautiful and haunting piece. Well, I am a musical junkie afterall :P

But it really kicked once the journey really started. There were a lot of fights, action, good comedic timing, drama, they all just fit soo well. I especially like the scene with the mountain trolls, they were all just hilarious.

The fight scenes were up to par. Well, the ones in the LOTR movies were very brilliant, but the ones here were amazing too. A plus point from me for The Hobbit was that they used a lot of creative ways to defeat the orcs.

I should say that the atmosphere of this movie is different from the ones in the LOTR trilogy. The Hobbit is more light and there were a lot more comedic scenes. It was even rated as G in my country. In my opinion, it should be rated PG-13, or maybe PG if you squeezed it hard enough. But G? That's too much! There were a lot of violence and killings, they weren't even off screen! We could see Gollum beating an orc to death with a stone very clearly in a scene.

Now, for the casts... The casts! They are amazing!

Martin Freeman did a really great job portraying Bilbo Baggins. The way he moves, his expression, he was really good! I love how he kind of changed as he went through the journey, really great acting.

Ian McKellen, I shouldn't give any comment. He was really great as Gandalf the Grey. Spot on.

The dwarves were really cute! They acted as a comedic relief, but they were also very reliable. I especially love that one young dwarf with black hair, Kili. Oh, he was soo cute. With his bow and arrow, really, I'm a loser for an archer guy.

And of course, Thorin Oakenshield. He was like the Aragorn in this movie. An heir for the long lost throne. He was beautifully played by Richard Armitage.

Special note to Benedict Cumberbatch... Dude! You only showed for like... a few seconds! And I could only hear you say a single word! What the hell man?! I thought you would say something else, something that's more meaningful?! *cough sorry cough*

Eventhough it might be a bit obvious, the scenery was very breathtaking. It was so magical that I couldn't believe the landscapes really exist in our world. Lucky for you who live in New Zealand, I envy you guys.

The score, like I said before, was really beautiful, haunting, and goosebump inducing. A suitable background music for such an epic journey.

Overall, it's a really great movie and I really recommend for you guys to go watch it. Yes, maybe it starts a bit slow, but you won't question anything the moment Bilbo Baggins runs out from his home to start his journey.

9/10
