personality : At first meeting, Yirae may give off an impression of being reserved and slightly 'off', always doing her own thing empty-mindedly. With her head constantly up in the clouds, it is somewhat hard to grow close to her initially unless you live in the same world as her. However, that's only just a cover-up to what her true personality holds...

Yirae is not the best when it comes to socialising, but if she takes interest in a person approaching her, she opens up easily like what a friendly person would. She is intelligent and works hard to get good grades at school, but often her 'smart' image is thrown out of the window because of her infamous 'blonde moments', ditziness, clumsy antics and her blind optimism. Yirae's purpose in life is to bring joy and happiness to the people around her, and she is known to be the 'wise old soul' and peace-maker of the group. She doesn't like chaos, nor does she like negativity. Her compassionate, easy-going nature makes her a person that everyone has grown to love and accept.

Yirae is a little on the gullible side - there's something about her that makes others want to protect her because she seems so delicate and fragile, no matter how hard she tries to hide the fact that she a big softie at heart. She is a very emotional girl, and sometimes hates herself for that. She wants to be strong inside and out, but she knows she cannot change that for sure. Yirae is rather conscious of herself and suffers from low self-esteem, particularly because of her arm. Not the most confident girl in the world, she is too meek and modest for her own good.

Yirae is the type of girl who dreams swoons over romantic, lovey dovey stuff. Even if she was to write a horror story, she would end up writing about how the ghost and the girl fell in love instead! Unfortunately, reality doesn't allow her to be this way because she's scared of the outcome in a relationship. She has no experience whatsoever with boys, and has never dated before - she is completely pure and innocent. Yirae is slow when it comes to love, and very clueless about the topic of the opposite gender. However, she is a conservative person and sets nun-like expectations for herself. Yirae treats love seriously, it is not a game for her.

dream job : Yirae doesn't have a fixed career pathway at this moment. Despite her good grades at school, she would rather have a career that is related to helping younger kids. She dreams of being in a children's musical band (think The Wiggles and Hi-5) once she gets over the fear of crowds, so she can bring light to young lives through the power of music.

- was a extreme otaku when she was younger. She still has a small collection of mangas and anime merchandise collecting dust under her bed to this day!
- the first song she played on piano by ear was 'Onara', the theme song for the drama Jewel In The Palace.
- her interest in psychology is mainly due to the influence of her mother's career.

history : Yirae was a typical 'city girl', born in the heart of Seoul to a loving family. However, things started to change with her father. He became a lot more aggressive and tense, especially towards little Yirae. At times, he seemed to be overly worried and protective of his daughter, but when things go wrong at his unknown workplace, he literally flips! He becomes more violent than ever in a blink of an eye, and Yirae can barely recognise her own father anymore. Her dad used to be a warm, loving person with his signature chuckle and jokes. But he gradually turned into a madman as he holds his soju bottle every night after 'work. The sounds of him smashing his glass bottles against the wall every day scared the poor girl. Yirae's mother, however, still managed to put up with her husband's antics. She still foolishly believed that her lover had hope...until one night.

It was during the Christmas/New Year era in 1999, when Yirae was only 4. It was almost at the end of the 20th century, and people were partying EXTREMELY hard. Her father came back home one night, exhuasted and clearly peed off, with his bad temper in kick again. Yirae's mum was teaching her daughter to write at the time, as she held her hand over Yirae's small left hand with the pencil in grip. Her father, being a superstitious being, got angry at the sight of his daughter writing with her left instead of her right. He snatched Yirae off her mother's hold and dunked her whole left arm under a tap of running hot water as he screamed his lungs off at his daughter, who was crying for dear life as she suffered through the agonising torture...

Because of this accident, Yirae's parents finally got divorced, and her mother sued her ex-husband for family violence and child abuse. Yirae's life was chaotic when she was younger, but slowly as she started to befriend a lot of other kiddos from 27th avenue, her life became a lot more smoother...for now.

Yirae is now scared of her father, but she can't bring herself to hate him for what he did. After all, he IS a part of her flesh and blood - nothing can ever change that. 

mother :  Kang Aeyeon / 54 / youth counsellor / strong, uptight, perfectionist, persistent / They're completely opposite to each other with their clashing personalities, which sometimes drive Yirae insane inside. But Yirae still deeply respects her mother. Her love for psychology and helping people has to come from her mother. At times, Yirae wishes that her mother will show more affection towards her.

To Yirae, Sungjong is a loyal bestfriend and the only guy she is extremely close to. She loves how he's so open and confident with everything he does, especially his girlgroup dances! Aside from his diva-like personality, Sungjong gentleness towards Yirae is something she treasures about him. Little does she know that Sungjong thinks Yirae as more than just a bestfriend...

Jang Dongwoo / 20 / member of dance crew U-NYT / outgoing, witty, daft, eccentric / Yirae is literally heads-over-toes over this dude! She loves him for his funny personality and the fact he always seems to be so happy. Yirae and Dongwoo do talk sometimes but sadly enough, Dongwoo's got his eyes set on someone else - a pretty noona from his dance crew U-NYT.

personality :  Famous (or should I say infamous?) in the neighbourhood for his humorous diva image, Sungjong is sure one of a kind! He is rather popular with the guys, although they do like to tease the maknae for fun. There's a sassy edge and flair to him everywhere he goes, and he's not afraid to show it off. Sungjong often complains a lot, but it's mainly for entertainment's sake. He is a strong-minded boy and very persistent with his ways to the point of being stubborn, but Sungjong does have a hidden softer side too - he's gentle-hearted and generous with his friends.

relationship :  Before everyone left, Yirae and Sungjong were close. He knew that Yirae had a crush on Dongwoo, and he tried his best to get these two together (third-wheel? Yeah. I think so too. XD) for Yirae but no avail. Both were devastated - Yirae was sad that Dongwoo liked someone else and Sungjong was sad that Yirae didn't know that he, too, likes her back (young puppy love...*sigh*). After the split, they are still close. Although they hadn't really talk much since (partly because of girl/boy issues of growing up), they're still friends. When the girls started coming back together, Yirae and Sungjong talked more to each other again as they faced the many issues and problems within their friendship groups...which leads on to this story!

how did you guys meet? : Both Yirae and Sungjong took piano lessons every week at the same music centre since they were very young, so they knew each other for quite a while now. The very first time they met was in early 1999, before Yirae's arm accident. Both of them were shy and awkward with each other, but gradually they became a bit more closer. When Yirae suddenly disappeared off to the hospital at the end of the year, Sungjong was extremely sad that he couldn't celebrate Christmas and New Year with her. Yirae remembers how little Sungjong came to visit her in the hospital with a giant stuffed teddy bear in his hands. Even to this day, Yirae still hugs the teddy bear to sleep every night.

O1. why can't you let go of 27th avenue? all the other girls did. : "Home is where the heart is." No matter how hard she tries to let it go, there's always an emotional attachment lingering somewhere between Yirae and 27th avenue. It's cruel to just simply forget all the precious memories made in this place and her friends, who she treasures the most. 27th avenue used to be such a closely-knit family, but now...

O2. what's your favorite memory of 27th avenue including all the girls?  :  There's simply too many memories to pick, from their camp trip to Jeju Island to the many birthday parties the girls (and guys!) had throughout the years. Yirae remembers how the houses of 27th avenue were decorated with pretty neon lights every year during Christmas, where all the kids rush out at night to view the beautiful sight of the Christmas joy, give each other candy canes and swap presents for Kris Kringle...to Yirae, Christmas is like a fairytale dream despite the dark memories during that time.

But the special memory that Yirae still fondly remembers, even though the others have forgotten about it, is how everyone took the time to visit her while she was in the hospital and gave her small 'get well' gifts. If it wasn't for them, Christmas 1999 would've been the most horrible experience for her.

XD I can change some parts of her personality and family history if you don't like it so far. The thing is, I try to make my character as unique yet realistic as possible. It's not everyday you get an OC who has a physical defect...and I doubt any 17 yr old in this society nowadays would be THAT naive and all, so I didn't really base Yirae 100% on the persona you guys have set for this type of character already. Hope it's still acceptable! >.<
