TRAITS independent, responsible, motherly, fussy, critical, brave, creative, practical, easily annoyed/stressed

 

as a kid, aona was super precocious, and this has carried with her until now in adulthood. always wanting to be independent and not helped by others, she tries to be the one who looks after others instead, since a part of her feels the need to prove to the world that she is more than just her cute smolness. she so desperately wants to be taken seriously that sometimes, people find it hard to believe she is originally from osaka, a city known for comedy + their loud friendly locals. not saying that aona is incapable of humour or being friendly though; she is, for the most part, approachable. but she is no-nonsense when the situation calls for it, so in comparison to other more chaotic/playful personalities, she seems more stuck up, thinking she is better than others because she is more "proper". even in her physical environment, it is a must for everything to be clean and tidy around her to give her a peace of mind, and she will start to complain a lot (especially towards men; specifically sota) if things aren't orderly as it should be.

 

even though she is a prime example of someone who sticks by the rules, there are special circumstances where her creative problem-solving skills shine, and aona is not afraid of taking risks as a result. in a way, aona is imaginative & adventurous--within limits.

she mentally calculates a lot before making a decision, but she is quick in her mind and she doesn't like taking overly long to ponder. she is a doer, preferring to take action rather than let it sit as just theory in discussion. this allows aona to fulfill her big dreams and open herself to new experiences, which surprises people given that she is always nagging others about consequences.

 

aona swings back and forth between tough love and clingy affection towards the people she cares for. surprisingly, for someone who appears a bit standoffish at first, there is a relatively large group of people within her "care radar", and her motherly side jumps out at anyone who is going through a hard time. even though she can be easily ticked off by people's habits or a lack of common sense, she never really holds it to heart, and her agitation dissipates as quickly as it comes. she will still be dedicated to the people she loves through the thick and thin of her emotions.

she may be good at saying "i feel angry, don't talk to me now", but when it comes to sadness, aona has more trouble processing the emotion. her anger never runs too deep, and it helps that she has the tendency to "vent it out" externally (either through her face, her energy, etc.) but sadness is something more private to her--she doesn't want to be seen as a crybaby again!

aona had a smooth childhood, although she was always being coddled, being the youngest of the family and always being the smallest amongst her friends & classmates. she was a very cute child who could get away with anything, and her big brother sota was very protective of her whenever they would go on their mischievous adventures together, often landing them in trouble by their parents (which sota would always end up being on the receiving end of the blame). it was through these adventures that aona learned to come out of her shell, since she was initially rather shy and clingy as a tot.

 

the fukushima family runs their own soba restaurant in the fun, bustling city of osaka, established since the time of her grandparents. everything was very family-orientated, and aona learned to carry her part in the family by working part time at an early age. sota, on the other hand, was completely engrossed in his school band activities throughout his teen years to the point of neglecting everything else in his life: studies, the family restaurant, his own physical & mental health especially as the senior members of his band started graduating. this was the point in time that aona started to develop bitter feelings against her brother for being so careless and irresponsible with everything, and she only laughed when the music project sota spent so many years in school working on only ended up in disbandment after it was his turn to graduate. her brother, and the chaotic way he operated in life, has always been an unpredictable mystery to aona, and it gave her a headache. although he did started helping out at the restaurant again after graduation, it wasn't long until he suddenly fled to south korea with the funds he earned, telling the family that he had received an opportunity to study abroad. their parents were not happy, but when sota stated he would be pursuing a nursing career, they were somewhat slightly relieved at his (normal) job choice. aona, on the other hand, felt betrayed, for it finally started to feel like she has a brother again when sota was spending more time with the family, and then suddenly he's gone again.

 

however, aona couldn't deny the allure that is south korea. the hallyu wave has taken the world by storm, and even she and her friends at school would fangirl over k-pop and k-dramas all day. she wondered if this was the reason why sota moved to south korea, but it didn't quite seem like sota; he never really talked about that kind of stuff while he was still around. curiosity brewed within aona; she initially wasn't sure what she would like to do after graduation as her high school days drew to an end. but inspired by the many encounters with tourists while working at her family restaurant + the fact her brother is also in a foreign country, she eventually decided to study at osaka university of tourism. now in her 3rd year, an overseas summer exchange program offered by her uni has led her to cheongsu university, in south korea......

　— aona isn't aware that sometimes, her skinship towards girls can be easily mistaken as actual flirting. she doesn't mean to come off as that...most of the time.
　— is secretly a er for cute animal plushies (even though it's childish, she thinks)

　— draws very well. when she is daydreaming, aona is often doodling in her notepad, mainly cute simplistic pictures of dot-eyed birds that represent her mood (examples: x x x x)

　— does a lot of stress cleaning to cool down

　— is a relatively fast learner (she's quite bright, actually, but not to the point where she takes advantage of her smartness + get lazy)

　— cannot swim, though.

　— in regards to coffee, aona likes it with a little bit of milk & sweetner. not too bitter, not too sweet. she loves exploring different flavours with her latte drinks. as of late, aona has a thing for adding honey into her matcha lattes.
　— compared to sota, she is generally not a picky eater
　— knows how to play a little bit of piano, but is no where the kind of music expert that sota is.
　— has had a boyfriend in high school, which they dated seriously for a year or two but aona decided to call it the quits during their final year "due to exams". in reality, it was actually during that year that aona discovered she is a sapphic as well.

aona is enjoying her student exchange life in cheongsu, in which she is staying at the campus dorms over there for the next 3 months. her parents do financially support her to some extent, but not wanting to place further burden on the family, she is currently working part time at lavender teahouse. however, at the time of the incident, she has coincidentally taken a day off due to crippling period pain, so she was not affected by the zap.

 

at uni, she spends her time during the day taking classes relating to her units for her course (international tourism, studying trends & issues related to tourism, management, etc.), as well as getting the bonus of cultural immersion with korean lessons, field trips to historical locations and popular tourist attractions, etc. she does join a few uni club activities just to try to make friends, but aona has a limit to how much she can socialise outside of work purposes, so sometimes if she is worn out after interacting with so many people, she will just stay in the dorm to study.

in her personal time she is usually perfecting her korean and exploring the country's shopping malls, cute cafes, korean street food, and taking lots of photos to post on social media. aona is constantly on the lookout for k-beauty products & skincare stuff whilst in korea. with a pocket sota to look after, it doesn't severely affect her schedule, although sota's dramatic wailings about being so smol + constant wandering around will drive aona up the wall.

contrary to what the rest of the family thinks, sota is not only doing nursing in south korea, but he has recently gone back to uni again to commence a course in a completely different field, performing arts. he is an ultra busy man juggling both his fully loaded work (at cheongsu hospital? lol) and his uni studies (not at cheongsu), but sota is somewhat satisfied cause deep down, he has always had a passion for the stage, whether it is music like before or theatre. however, he no longer involved with songwriting like he used to. performing other songs is fine though. prior to the zap, sota would every now and then busk on the streets with his guitar, but never would he ever perform the songs he wrote back in japan.

 

how sota got involved with the zapping accident, despite not working for lavender teahouse at all, was because of an emergency situation unfolding at the teahouse that required medical attention. sota just happened to be passing by when the incident happened (what this is is up to your imagination, but i'm somewhat thinking of an elder customer having a cardiac arrest) so sota was helping at the scene until the ambulance arrived to collect the patient. all the customers were told to evacuate except the staff + sota who helping. and voila....the zap.

 

with him being in such a detrimentally small size now, sota is  d e v a s t e d  and a lump of anxiety. he really cannot do a lot of things in his state; he certainly cannot work as a nurse (a critical care nurse, at that!), and how is he meant to stand on stage if people in the audience can't even see him?! so many worries about the future will come flooding to his mind that he'd rather just die, or bury himself into nothingness. he is practically rendered useless. throughout the duration of his pocket size status, he completely ghosts everything at uni and leaves everything up to aona to explain to his unimates & colleagues on behalf of him, much to the frustration of aona. aona is stumped for ideas to explain to sota's social circle, but eventually uses the foreigner card for sota and said he left korea for an emergency back home. he may lose his job and whatnot, but sota in his state doesn't care; he sabotages himself and digs himself a hole to hide "for the rest of his life".

sota was originally living on-campus with a roommate, kang bumseok, who is also a fellow performing arts student of the same cohort (kinda picturing hoya as fc lmao). an introverted gym junkie with a gruff exterior, yet bumseok still quietly looks out for sota whenever he can. they don't talk too much but they would often video game together until late night to relax. bumseok is concerned about sota's disappearance and ends up texting/calling multiple times until aona, posing as sota, messages him back.

　— i'm thinking for the mystery zapper to be a novice magician/wizard of some sort who is trying to practice their skills but clearly, it went horribly wrong + they're trying to run away from the consequences for fear of getting caught, but they go about it in a playfully taunting way to cover up their fear inside??

　— aona's roommate to have an actual pet parakeet in the dorm. sota sees the birb, who is now a lot bigger than him, and he runs for his life screaming xD

　— !!! i am also open to other applicants creating a character to be aona's lover, whatever gender works! if it's a girl though, perhaps some interesting interaction might take place between the fukushima siblings as sota discovers that he shares another similarity with his sister: they both like girls (i am imagining maybe sota crushing on a girl too and asking aona for advice, only for aona's answer to be suspiciously......gay)
