PROM. HELP!

So listen,
I'm a Junior and I go to an all-girls school.
So we have prom.
How am I gonna ask this dude to be my prom date?

 

The problem is I'm just really frustrated cause the ones I wanted were already taken. And he seems like the only one I know who isn't. But I'm also scared and shy because 2 yrs ago there was this rumor about us. What if those rumors will start again just because he's my prom date?

 

The thing is, I'm just gonna pick him cause I really don't have anyone else. And for the meantime, he'll just be my back-up. But I'm still so shy to ask him D: But everyday in my mind, it's like, I know that I have too move now cause if I don't he'll be taken and I'll be for sure toasted. But I'm still shyyyy. Aigoooooooo~

 

Help!  

 

To guys, will it be awkward or weird to you if for example a girl asked you this question?

Ask him only if you wanna 'cause you don't wanna spend your night all awkward or such ...but you never know, it could be a blast ^^

If you're really shy about it, then don't ask him in person. maybe a letter? >,< and rumours will stop one day, don't miss your chance ;)

just ask him! there's no harm in trying! and, you should secure a date as soon as possible... i had a few batchmates last year who weren't able to find a date 'til the last minute... and besides, you'll enjoy prom better if you're with someone you're comfortable with... so, just ask him! :D
