personality:

Jaekyung is a very focused individual and knows what she wants and knows what steps to take to achieve them. She's very meticulous with her work and doesn't expect anything less than perfection from herself, so she tends to be very self-critical. In front of her goals, she is strict and keeps her ground, but in front of other people, she is meek and cannot say "no" to any favor asked of her. Because of her inability to say "no", she is taken advantage of quite often and then beats herself up for being such a pushover. But this is because she hates to disappoint people and hates to be a nuisance to those around her. If there is something that they need help with, she will comply because in the end, she wants people to be happy. Even if she is inconvenienced by it.

Not one for having a large social life, Jaekyung prefers to stay indoors and hang out with only her close friends. Large crowds drain her energy and she is not a fan of meeting new people. With her friends, she loosens up a little and quirky personality is shown through her hard exterior. She loves to laugh, but fails at delivering jokes, always telling lame jokes that no one understands, but she doesn't notice because she's too busy cracking up at her own joke. She would look at the nutrition label on the food her friends eat and nag at them for being so unhealthy while stalking off to the kitchen to prepare a healthier meal. If someone sticks out their hand so they could get something, Jaekyung would give them a high-five. When going to the theaters, she would pick gore over romance any day, much to her friends' discomfort, but goes along with romance in the end, cringing at the cheesiness of everything in the movie.

She is highly perceptual of other people's feelings. For example if someone was feeling uncomfortable because others were talking about dead puppies, Jaekyung would shoot them a reassuring smile and subtly change the subject so they were talking about something else.

Jaekyung is a polite person when you first meet her, but she is very formal with her greetings so it seems very cold and stiff. Almost like it's rehearsed lines. Well they are. Jaekyung repeats lines of what she would say in her head over and over again so that she would not mess up and make a fool of herself. Public humiliation is something she tries to avoid like a plague.

history:

There's an old saying that Jaekyung's grandmother used to tell her. "Busan women and Jeonju men together make a gigantic storm." (LOL IDK IF THIS IS TRUE BUT LET'S PRETEND PLS) This was certainly true about her parents. Her mother is from the southern region of Busan where all the women speak their minds while her father is from the traditional city of Jeonju, where patriarchy demanded for submissive women. When her parents met, they fell madly in love with each other in their young age and despite all the warnings, they got married and had Jaekyung. Eventually the storm brew and her parents split when she was ten years old. Her mother packed her bags for her hometown while Jaekyung and her father stayed in Jeonju. She had to grow up without her mother by her side and she had to asume the role of being the housekeeper at a young age. Jaekyung grew up thinking that her parents' divorce was partially her fault (they had be arguing all day about signing her up for ballet lessons) and even though it's unreasonable, this influenced her perpection of herself. She never wants to become an inconvenience to anyone and so she will always comply and be submissive because she believes that if she didn't ask to have ballet lessons, her parents would never have split.

So she visits her mother whenever she can to make sure that she is doing well. This time, she visits because her mother is getting re-married and with her father refusing to come along, she travels to Busan herself to celebrate this joyous ceremony together.

cooking, collecting hair accessories, going on the internet to find different recipes, looking up the trending news everyday

habits:

blinking rapidly when confused, laughing when she's nervous or uncomfortable, she brings her long hair over her right shoulder, plays with her left sleeve when she's lying

what would you do in a state of pure fear or trauma?:

Not think and grab whoever is next to her and hold on for dear life. She would hyperventilate.

mother: Han Mijin ▬ 39 ▬ Travel Agent ▬ Sharp-minded, witty, and always know what to say in any situation. Not afraid to tell others what's on her mind. Emotional ▬ Jaekyung misses her mother all the time and her mother loves to baby her ▬ Not on good terms with her ex-husband at all. Swears a lot.

father: Lee Jungsoo ▬ 41 ▬ Owns a small law firm ▬ Stubborn and rough around the edges, but a good man. Can be a little harsh with his words, but never says things to hurt others. ▬ He dotes on Jaekyung, but has trouble expressing his feelings so instead of using words, he buys her gifts and does subtle things. ▬ Has to eat rice with every meal because he is a "Korean man".

step-father: Park Janghoon ▬ 40 ▬ Baseball Coach ▬ Easy-going, humorous, kind. He loves to joke around, but knows when to be serious. ▬ Jaekyung is still awkward around him and he is trying deperately to patch the gap because he really wants her to be a part of his family. ▬ Baseball Coach for the Busan Seagulls.

step-sibling: Park Hwanhee ▬ 12 ▬ Student ▬ He is a shy boy who is at the awkward stage in his life. Doesn't talk much, but he is very considerate of his younger sister. ▬ He avoids Jaekyung like the plague because he's shy and she's a girl. This makes Jaekyung sad because she wants to get closer to him. ▬ He's his dad's #1 fan.

step-sibling: Park Junghee ▬ 8 ▬ Student ▬ She is very active and loves to explore, but always comes back when her brother or father calls for her. Obedient and eager to please. ▬ Loves Jaekyung because she's always wanted an older sister. Jaekyung is a little overwhelmed by her energy, but tries to play with her anyway. ▬ She's really boyish and wears boyish clothing.

friend: Kim Dasom ▬ 19 ▬ Student ▬ Bright and cheerful. She is always seen with a smile on her face and knows what to say to cheer people up. ▬ They've known each other since elementary school days and she helped Jaekyung during her parents' divorce. ▬ Is a little boy crazy.

his -short- personality: At face value, he is seen as clueless as he is always smiling. But he is actually really observant and always knows what's going on. He's a playful spirit who goes to the beat of his own drum and it takes special people to understand what's going on in his head.

do you want to meet during the story?: He's the son of the best man at the wedding so they meet then.

or did you know each other beforehand?: -

your relationship: He was the only person close in age at the wedding so they naturally gravitated toward each other. But he got bored of her one dimensional answers and wanted to make her comfortable enough around him so she could be herself. They end up being friends as Jaekyung becomes more comfortable with him.

do his parents like you? why or why not?: They like her. She seems like a good girl for him and can keep his mind out of the clouds.

do you eventually want to end up married or just dating?: Just beginning to date.

love interest 2: Do Kyungsoo

his -short- personality: An angel who protects his loved ones fiercely and always thinks of others before himself. He has a strong sense of responsibility and always tries to abide by the rules.

I love this character, she actually seems like a realistic person, unlike some apps I've gotten in the past xD
