The AFF Promotion Thing And My Two Cents On It

Okay well…I’m just here to share my two cents on this promotion thing. So please don’t get offended by whatever I say okay?

I honestly don’t like this idea, and I hope AFF deletes the idea because I mean-why? Why do some fanfic writers only write for popularity? Yeah it’s true I want to be an author and make money off of my novels/novellas so I can make a living, but I still would write for fun because writing is what makes me well me.

If some of you fanfic writers write only to gain popularity SHAME ON YOU. You should write fanfiction for fun because are we getting paid to write our fanfics? No.

Now the only thing I ever really advertise are roleplays or one-shot collections to get requesters/roleplayers. My rp only has three-four people roleplaying including me so yeah…that’s when I like advertising.

But for fanfics? Nah…I just write those for fun.

Fanfiction is just a hobby for me, an escape from the real world troubles I face sometimes, I don’t write fanfiction to be popular nor do I try to make my stories perfect. Writing relaxes my soul and fanfiction shouldn’t be a stressful thing guys.

Take a breather.

Don’t stress yourself out.

Relax ^^

And honestly you only get featured for a day and it’s really not that great to me, I’ve never been featured and I’m glad because I don’t want people arguring or choosing side if someone doesn’t like my story like the issues with dbskgirl you know?

Okay I'm to argue both sides, your side and people who would be against you, and that my opinion at the end. Ready?
1) Popularity. Okay, the main reason why I think popularity is awesome AS A WRITER is that other people get to see your work and your reputation grows. When other people see your work, usually you can get more feedback and you'll be able to become a better writer. While some people are pretty much hoggers, you're always going to get them in a community. Society .
2) Karma. Okay you didn't bring this up, but a reason why this ad stuff may or may not work is that it requires karma. So maybe some people like me who want to try this ad out would be more willing to comment and browse around blogs and stories. Increased activity on this site is good UNLESS those comments are really spammy, like "UPDATE SOON!" But considering I got that a lot before, I can't really say this ad thing is the cause of sins.
My personal opinion: I really don't know what the effect would be. But I definitely want to try it out. Before you judge me as a person who seeks popularity, the reasons why I'm doing it are:
a) I really want to see if there's a way to beat the system. What about a second-highest bidding auction? Is there a way to cleverly outbid people with the least amount of karma? b) With that experiment, if I get outbid, that's okay, I get the karma back. If I don't get outbid, it's not really a bad thing, right? Maybe I'll get some negative attention, but I'm sure people like you who are fed up with it won't even pay attention and I'm already used to that.
Just a thought.
