-The first impression of Haejin is friendly and easy-going. Often, you’d see him giving his best smiles to everyone and is usually the mood-lifter wherever he goes. He seems like the type who has a well-controlled temper and doesn’t get upset easily. First impressions however are not to be trusted. Behind his smile, is a very cunning fox. Cunning in the sense where he’d tease the youngers to do his chores for him. It doesn’t always work but the way he lays his back on the sofa enjoying his Americano renders the rest speechless. -It is true that he’s a calm and collected person, but that persona only appears when he’s either on stage, during practices, or during photo shoots. Otherwise, he’d be the lazy-bum who just sits back and relax. He also really dislikes getting nagged at. If he was getting a scolding from one of the elder members, he’d usually just shrug and murmur a soft ‘sorry’ and go back to slacking off on the sofa, even if it’s the leader. I guess you can say he’s a little too stubborn.

-However, he has a slight inferiority to those who are quiet. He thinks they’re mysterious and keeps to themselves a lot. He doesn’t mind it that much, but he feels uncomfortable being around them. It just felt awkward. But as time goes on, things might turn out better for him as he gets to know the rest better.

-Around those whom he’s fond of, or has a liking to, he’s slightly off-the-edge. He’d be clumsy and lost in thoughts every once in a while. It’s difficult to believe at first but it’s quite obvious when you observe him carefully. He’s most-likely not the one to lead a relationship.

Background:

-Music runs in the blood of Haejin’s family.

-Since little, he has been exposed to all genres of music for his father was quite a well-known and active musician.

-They have moved from Canada and Incheon to place after place since Haejin’s 4th birthday for his father’s work.

-He has never settled down completely in a country for long, so he’s always ready to adapt to different places.

-Amidst all this travelling he’s done with his family since young, he took the opportunity to learn quite a useful amount of languages, such as Mandarin, Japanese, Chinese, etc. to ease up on communication purposes.

-4 years later, they returned to Canada for schooling and had met with Kris – who is now the leader of EXO M – and his best friend even though Kris was 2 years elder than himself.

-6 years passed, Haejin’s father passed away in a road accident on his way to the studio for work.

-Haejin’s life had only went downhill since then.

-He was only 14 and was the most dependant one in the family since he was the youngest, so he went through a really tough time, hence he received the most care from his family and became partially spoilt after that.

-Fortunately, his best friend, Kris managed to pull Haejin back to his senses by spiking his interest in rapping.

-However, the two had to separate for Haejin had to return to Korea with his family for his father had once said he would only be in peace if he was back to where he came from.

-Hence at the respective age of 14 and 16, the two made a promise to meet each other again, only when they become successful idols.

-This made a big change in Haejin’s life, for the usually classical music inclined him made a big turn to the underground world as a rapper.

-Being exposed to the underground hip-hop world, Haejin’s rebellious years began and he got one or two tattoos over his chest and arms.

-However, the tattoos held meaningful life phrases that pushed himself harder to gain his dream and to keep the promise he made.

-Bang Yongguk | BAP | Basically, Yongguk was someone Haejin really looked up to during his underground rapping days. He’s really caring towards his juniors and had always do his best to help them out. He admits having a crush on Yongguk but he knows better that he had no chance, for Yongguk was already dating another kid – one whose talent is really no joke despite his age – Zelo.

 

Love Interest 2:

-Kris | EXO | Haejin would be lying if he said he didn’t miss Kris at all since he left Canada. A year and a half later after he came to Korea, Haejin had actually seen Kris at the streets of Seoul by chance. Haejin was there shopping with his younger brother. It was really an unexpected meeting and the two had caught each other in tight embraces as if they’d never let go until the last breath of their lives. Maybe it was fate that brought the two to meet again. It must be fate that arranged every thing between them – their first meeting, Haejin’s father’s death, and then their promise.

-Tao | EXO | Being so well educated in English, Haejin had come across fan fictions on Kris after EXO’s hot debut. That one ‘Taoris’ OTP had always made Haejin feel uneasy and every time he saw the two getting so intimate, he couldn’t help but feel jealous of Tao.
