10 Reasons Why I Love f(x)'s Park Sunyoung

So I’m here again lol, and this is just a random post that I felt the need to write. Well, not necessarily a need more as I felt highly compelled to write after listening to Luna’s OSTs and I suddenly got a lot of feels that my heart couldn’t handle.

And since she’s one of those “underrated” idols that no one talks about unless it’s to talk about how underrated they are, I’m here to shine some light on why you should love this girl (listed in no specific order).

Oh yeah and this is f(x)’s Park Sunyoung, not T-ara’s.

*I refer to Luna by her birth name because yolo*

1.)Her Smile

I’m sure I’m not the only that has a thing for smiles, and I’m sure that anyone could argue that “Everyone has a nice smile.”, which is a moderately true statement.  But something about Sunyoung’s smile is special. I’m not going to be cliché and say that immediately makes you want to smile, but it’s more or less true. Her smile has a special quality to it that just lights up the room and makes you feel better. I’ve not once since her procure a fake smile, and you can just tell that when she smiles, it’s 100%.

2.) Her energy

Let’s be honest here, I’m sure we all know at least one person who’s constantly bubbly. Always willing to brighten up someone’s day, and it’s rare for them to be seen without a smile slapped onto their face. Sunyoung’s just like one of those people, constantly willing to brighten up your day, never afraid to laugh until cries, always willing to speak if there’s an uncomfortable silence. Some rookies just sit and as they’re interviewed they merely nod and smile awkwardly. When f(x) were rookies Sunyoung had no problem grabbing the mic and initiating a conversation, making the awkwardness dissipate in a mere amount of minutes. She’s constantly smiling and drifting from artist to artist during every SMTOWN, waving to the crowd.  Sure, every now and again that type of personality may get annoying, but think of how dim f(x) would be without that ever shining light?

3.) Her voice

Being the main vocalist of f(x),Sunyoung obviously has a strong and beautiful voice, that I for one favor the most out of many SM artists (after Taeyeon and Zhou Mi).  Not only does her voice contain the right about of strength and melody, it also contains passion.

She sounds good with whoever she does a duet with, whether it is Zhou Mi, Krystal, Onew or Yesung, she just has a quality that allows her voice to complement whoever she sings alongside.

When Sunyoung sings you can tell she loves what she does, when she sings ballads you hear the emotion and passion flowing in the way she sings.  Despite only being 18, she has talent to account for years to come.

4.) Her enthusiasm when she went to Africa

This choice may be just a *wee* bit biased, but hey, can you blame me? I’m sure many f(x) fans (A/N NO ING FANCLUB NAME) remember when f(x) went to Africa and did that photo-shoot and conversed with the (I think this is right) Kenyans. I’m pretty sure they were Kenyans judging by their dress, but eh, I may be wrong. But that’s beside the point.  Anyway, what really made my cheeks pain from smiling so much was the way that Sunyoung interacted with them.

It’s not anything surprising to the open-minded and informed KPopper that there have been some racial collisions between the Eastern Asian pop stars of South Korea and African Americans.  Yeah save the “Unnie/oppa didn’t mean it” and “It’s a part of their culture”, for another blog post.

Anyway, when they went to Africa Sunyoung looked happy. From what I’ve gathered, Sunyoung at hiding or faking her feelings, so it was pretty easy to see that her smile here was genuine. She was playing with the African children, she was asking questions, and she was singing, clapping and laughing like nobody’s business. Despite coming from a country that is generally ignorant towards racial sensitivity and thus often times procures racist statements, she was having fun.  She was so interactive with them and I love her for it.

5.) Her body

Now, I’m not going to get all overly ual and graphic about Sunyoung’s body (and the audience goes “awwwww”). I know that this statement in reference to female KPop groups has been run to the ground but it must be done; she looks healthy. People have called her fat merely because they are visually used to seeing the bodies of those that are slightly underweight and have mentally deemed that as the “norm”. When in actuality, Sunyoung would be the one who was every girl’s thinspiration

6.) Her open emotions

I don’t remember exactly how this went down, but it happened sometime last year when Sunyoung was on a singing show or something (Immortal Song?) and when her singing was criticized she cried.  Not going to lie, that may have been a weensy bit of overreacting, but then again she cries easily so who knows. Anyway, I find this to be another charming quality of hers because it shows she takes things to heart. That’s not implying that not crying every time something good/bad happens makes you a bad person, it just makes said person a bit harder to read.

There are many people that put on a fake smile when things get rough or when they're generally in public. But Sunyoung doesn't.

If she's extremely sad or disappointed, she'll cry. If she's happy she'll smile like an angel. If she's amused, she laughed with no restraints. She doesn't put on a show to please anyone.

I don’t want to say that I like seeing her cry, but she really shows how worried or happy or disheartened she is. She doesn’t try and hide her emotions, and I like that about her.

7.) Her work ethic

How can always know when someone is hard-working? Maybe they’re only hard-working when it suits them. Even so, Sunyoung often displays hard work in whatever she does. In the “I AM” documentary she (along with the other f(x) members of course) practiced and practiced her dance routine until it was perfect. For her musical “Coyote Ugly” there were countless pictures of her practicing her dance steps. For her drama ,”Saving Ms. Go Bongshil” she was also nonchalantly photographed reading over her lines. On “ Star King” she participated immensely, making me want to watch the show more than I already wanted to. When Amber was on her 9-month leave, Sunyoung took over her raps, even if that wasn’t her forte, she put her all into it.

Sure a lot of other KPop idols do this, but it seems that no matter what she’s doing Sunyoung puts her 110% in it, even if she knows that she’s not the most popular member. She continuously works hard and is a crucial part of f(x), even if she’s not constantly recognized for it.

8.) Her open affection

Sunyoung’s a lover, not a fighter, quite obviously. While some people are shy about who they are close with and displaying affection, whoever Sunyoung cares about, she won’t be afraid to show it. It shows how much she cares for her members, her labelmates, and the people around her in general. She’s playful with even the most sheltered band members (coughcoughKrystalcough). Even if Krystal teases her use of Mandarin in Los Angeles, she won’t take it to heart and continues being all lovey-dovey sister like.

She hugs, she kisses, she holds hands; she just doesn’t mind letting the world know that “Hey! I love this person next to me.”

Small and insignificant trait? Maybe. Admirable? I’d think so.

9.) Her dancing

I for one, love Sunyoung’s dancing. And I am a picky person when it comes to which dancers I like ( I still haven’t entirely gotten used to Kai’s dancing).

First of all, for someone whose position in the group doesn’t involve being a main or lead dancer, she dances fantastically. She displays power, confidence, precision and iness ( whoa…I just called Sunyoung y…whoa). She puts her all into it and her results are phenomenal for someone who is a main vocalist. Plus, I highly doubt SM would put her in a dance battle with Hyoyeon and Yuri if she could only manage the hokey pokey.

10.) Her face

I don’t think I have to explain this one, do I?

She is beautiful and you is pitiful (I deserve a delusional moment per blog post ok)

Now those aren’t the only reasons I love Park Sunyoung, but hey I did say 10.

Anyway, I hope you see why I love her and why she is my bias. I may never know her personally, but I’m glad to just see her smile (cheesy I know but yolo) and listen to her voice.

Later es

-G.B.♥

I agree with everything but that thing that she cried coz she got critizized by the judges was not really overreacting, since those judges said she didn't understand the meaning of music and if they were her, they wouldn't even stand there. Everyone (leeteuk, kwanghee and the others) thought that that was too cruel. But yeah she cries easily, but just as you say: I love that about her :)
