Silent Readers

Silent readers... is anyone here a silent reader of any fic, or just in general? If so, I'm just genuinely curious (I'M SO CURIOUS, YE - sorry): do you guys actually read the fic? xD

This is really hard for me to explain without seeming like I'm nagging for comments, which I'm not (although they are nice), but I'm just really curious x)

Jewell (MusicChibi) and I have been talking about the topic of silent readers for a while, so I decided to ask you all for your opinion :) I dunno, maybe because it just seems that everytime I update a story, my subscribers go up, but I hardly get any comments xD I'm not complaining or anything - I'm very grateful for every person who spared the time to read what I have written - but sometimes I really wonder if the people who have subscribed are actually even reading and keeping up with the story... xD

If you are a silent reader, do you guys actually read the updates? :) And does anyone here experience the same thing? xD

I know I sound like I'm complaining and stuff, but believe me, I'm not xD I'd just like to hear your opinions~ :)

I'm a silent reader most of the time, to be quite honest. HAHA. I comment on a fanfic when it is done because I really don't like commenting things like "Update soon!" I don't know XD hehe, but nowadays, I'm trying my best to comment to motivate the author xD hehe

U guys have to think about the fact that people also use an ipad or iphone to read. And for me, I always read fanfics in bed when im about to sleep.
Thus, making it hard for me to write comments because the keyboard is so freakin' small, and im to lazy.

Yes! Silent readers do read the chapters! Why wouldnthey subscribe if they didnt? :)

For me, I usually comment on stories that I absolutely adore whenever they update a chapter, and I usually try to leave long and thoughtful comments x] I don't like being a silent reader because sometimes it confuses me when I get subbers but not many comments haha

Oh, I know what you're on. Generally, it's about 10 comments for every 60-70 readers. I also wonder if people who have subscribed to my stories actually read them XD I guess they do- a good example of this is when someone posts a note saying that they might delete the story- usually a lot of new readers pop up, saying that they've been reading and enjoying the fic.

I myself am a commenter- if the story's good, I usually comment. Though sometimes I do become a silent reader, but still, most of the time I still comment at least when the story ends :)

And I don't think this blog post will help you get a better understanding on the silent-readers situation- mostly people who comment are going to comment on this blog, and silent story-readers will most likely be silent blog-readers too ;D

I'm a commenter mostly. I love it when I get comments, it motivates me in a way and knows I know that people really love my story if they comment ^^ They don't have to of course because I don't like forcing other's, to do things they don't want to do.

But it is always nice to get a comment. It makes me feel good about my writing in a way ^^

I'm a silent reader of about 5 stories, because I think those authors don't deserve comments from me. BECAUSE I DISLIKE THEM, HAHA!
But in general, I always comment... :3
