Question about correcting an author's Korean mistakes...

I have a question.. So I don't know if you guys know but I'm Korean....I was born and raised in the US but I speak, read, and write in Korean...
And I just write fanfics for fun

I pretty much only read/write Hyuna stories... BUT I see a lot of mistakes when authors are using Konglish (Korean->English)

  • Like they use oppa and noona wrong...
  • Or when they try to say a phrase

So should I correct them? Or should I just leave it?!

The bigger problem is when I'm not even a subscriber and I see mistakes.. ><;; Tell me what to do please!!!

Oh my gawd hiiii!!!!!! Gull... that is awesome, I love your life. You kinda speak English well.... nice nice. So how's life? XD Just kiddin' I don't really call people in my stories "oppa" or "noona" I mean.... you know crazy fans? They scream out oppa A LOT which makes me really annoyed of it so I rarely say oppa..

@Xielleable - ahh true... thanks!! i would never try to humiliate anyone intentionally especially since korean isn't their first or second language.

but idk how to even say anything!!! like what should i say??.. "hey i'm shiney.. and your use of this word in chapter __ is wrong and it should be this??" HAHA i'm too scared.. :/

@janluvucube - ooh okay thanks! i guess i'm just scared that they might be offended if i try to fix every mistake... haha your last sentence made me laugh :)

@L_O_U_N - ooh I mean, usually if it's close i don't care but sometimes it just doesn't make any sense.. hehe. i'm just wondering because, i know majority of the people here aren't korean - so i mean it wouldn't matter right?? i would never be blunt about it! which is why i'm here asking through this blog! hahah ^^

@YulHyun - ooh fun! hehe^^ if you ever need help, ask! haha. i can go back and read your story when i have time and make sure that all your korean is okay! teehe<3

Well yeah, authors who are intelligent and mature enough find corrections a step to further learning. But its best to correct them in a way that wont hurt or humiliate them or their feelings ^^

As an author, I would want you to correct me. I try not to make mistakes though, I like to know what I'm saying before I say it. So I would say if the author can handle constructive critisism, then feel free. Though I wouldn't be blunt about it.

U shld tell them thgh pm.. i also saw a lot mistake by some author. They used "hyung" instead of "oppa" and make even more mistake by forming sentence... at least thg pm it wont make them felt embarrassed. If some of them dont appreciate what u help them, den just ignore and let them get embarrassed by other readers xp
