Korean vocaloid SeeU

Have you ever heard about Vocaloid?

Apparantly, it's a programme that is used to make the computer to sound like it's singing. (I'm not sure how it works as I've never tried or had one).

SeeU (시유) is the first Korean vocaloid and after I heard about the news that she came out and heard one of her songs, I just loved it. I mean, really! She still have this incorrect, mechanical pronunciations in some bits but I like songs that people made her to sing. The composers are not professionals but rather, amateurs who are learning to compose and they didn't earn money for composition.

So, here is some links of SeeU's songs that I loved.

1. Some Girl's Song

This is one of the very recent song by SangRokSu. It's about bullying just because you are different. If you know Korean, you can see that the lyrics are quite sad even though the music itself is strong. When I have time, I'll translate the lyrics into English.

2. The Poetry of Millenia

This one is also by SangRokSu, but it's one of the best songs sang by SeeU! It's very different from normal K-pop you hear, right? I know. But I love this as it has this Korean feeling inside. It's very long but it is because this song is about a nine-tailed fox's life described as one day and seasons of the year. (The first is Spring dawn, then Summer noon, Autumn evening, Winter night). It's better if you know about Korean tales about the nine-tailed fox. They lives and train for 1000 years in order to become human even though they have power that is equal to one low-classed god. If you are tired of usual k-pop, I would definately recommend this song.

3. Science of Hypocrisy

This is quite cynical about the life that we are living. It's about people and their 'masks'. The lyric actually say that we have to pretend ourselves into someone that we are not to protect ourselves but in truth, this song actually is laughing and criticising how we live our lives. If you walk around the street, you will be able to see that people always pretend to be something and hide their real opinions. As we get older and become part of the society, we lose our honesty.

4. I Only Speak Konglish

This song is very addicting. i know that the English is not making sense in some parts but it is just making fun of SeeU's English pronunciation. Actually, to make her singing in English, they use Korean pronunciations to sound it like English so it has clear Korean accent. It's just too hilarious. When I made my friends to listen to this song, they could not stop laughing at it and as well as cannot get their minds away from the rhythm.

5. Alone

This song is about someone being lonely and wanting someone for accompany in the middle of busy, uncaring city. Due to intense loneliness and feeling of lost, she wants to cry but cannot. At the same time, it can be intepreted as a song of girl who broke up from a relationship recently. As she feels lonely too intense that she thinks that there is no place that she belongs. It can be intepreted in different meaning and personally, I think of the meaning of the song as loneliness in the middle of city where there is no true caring and only ignorance are present.

6. Arirang

Arirang is actually a korean traditional song that is sang around the Korean peninsula and has numerous versions that is differed by region. This song has the same name but it's very modern song. The traditional song has different meaning in different region but it is usually travelling far away by walking through the mountain. (Some may know, Korea peninsula is full of mountains and hills.) This song is about a girl getting tired of her lover's treatment on her and his ignorance about her feeling.

These are the songs that I particularly like. Feel free to share with me about what do you think about these songs that I recommended. I want to know others' tastes of music.
