APPEARANCE the adjectives often associated with ballet dancers are beautiful and graceful, and lee juda is no exception to it with bright and fair features along with a lithe frame. growing up, she was often the victim of relatives giving her extra portions of food.
as someone with a profession that performs on stage, juda is no stranger to make-up... well, stage make-up which often tends to be heavy and so in moments when juda is not on stage, she is bare of any make-up and just has lip balm on, or at most, with a minimal amount of products that happen to be some concealer, brow gel, mascara and some sort of lip product. when she had been younger, she was often mistaken to be older than her actual age but in current days, she has been told that she now looks younger which she finds to be a great compliment especially when considering the fact that she smokes.
the hime cut that juda currently sports was not originally meant to be a hime cut in the first place. she had wanted to try a new look and see what her hair would look like short but she messed up the front and made it too short for her liking.

STYLE / FASHION when juda was much younger, she cared for going after the latest trends and at times would insist on purchasing an item of clothing or a pair of shoes even in spite of the fact that it had been uncomfortable or her size had been no longer available. she got them just because other people had it, and nowadays, she really does not care and would rather prefer to not think much on how to coordinate her clothing together.
she often goes for the tried and true basics, e.g. white shirt and pair of jeans which remains looking effortless yet chic and most likely something that has been in her wardrobe for several years and counting. juda tends to be more playful with her shoes, bags and jackets, often having a pop of colour, a more 'out there' print or a key detail such as ribbons. some examples include : 1, 2, 3.
as a dancer, juda would be dressed in extravagant costumes but also be donned with pointe shoes which aren't the most comfortable thing for one's feet, and so her clothing on her days off are rather soft and loose, and shoes like new balances. it's not odd for her to occasionally use some leggings, tops, sweatshirts that she would bring to practice and rehearsals and incorporate it into her dailywear... most of those notably being from lululemon.

rest assured, lee juda is indeed human... she just happens to be more emotive and expressive... more talkative when it comes to topics in hand that she is more interested in or can contribute to. if bored, those around her are no stranger to juda putting out a statement that challenges the opposing statements even when she does agree with what the other is saying. she deems it jazzes things up and open's ones eyes to other views but some may disagree and state that it feels as if juda is putting them on the spot. aside from that, juda is an individual whose outview in life is that her future is her present and thus concerned with her happiness and peace of mind. it makes sense considering how a lot of her earlier youth was sacrificed to obtain the career she has now. if she wants to treat herself for who knows how many days in a row, she can. she tries to find joy in the mundane which can sometimes lead to irresponsible actions with consequences put on the back burner sometimes.
juda believes it to be a waste to wallow in negative emotions and so she represses such feelings with the belief and motto that it will come to pass, but others would know that suppressing such negativity is just waiting for a geyser to burst. having grown up with an abundance of expectations as well as praise, one's ego is sure to inflate and hence gives juda an incentive to not share such emotions as she has a desire to not present herself as vulnerable or weak. at the same time, juda's way of living is one of the reasons why it's very smooth and uncomplicated in interacting with her once one gets past her rather intimidating exterior, e.g. you and the majority suggest going to a certain place to eat — sure, juda may not be too fond of it but she'll agree nonetheless to keep the peace but also to not drag things on for too long. one should not mistake it for being a doormat for she is definitely not one.
juda is not one to get carried by emotions easily (unless taking over her role in the ballets she performs in) nor is she someone who would greatly care if someone dislikes her. she more or less relies on her logic in making points and decisions, and isn't one to side with someone just because they're 'friends' or 'close'; she's going to be fair. even then, she still is going to be mindful and is the type to read deeper into details such as people's expressions and the context of things to give insightful analyses. however, does have a tendency to run faster than her mind, or her brain is so active with several branches of thought that it becomes hard to keep up that she sometimes forgets what she is rambling on about. in other words, she can be quite messy... clumsy even which is quite ironic for a ballet dancer that is meant to be the epitome of grace...
BACKGROUND hwan jaebeom and her mother, lee heeae were what was known as that on-again, off-again couple back in highschool. heeae should've known better that he was no good especially with his wandering heart and yet she would always take him back, and perhaps it had been the best for her when he broke up with her again when they graduated from highschool and she was accepted into a university in seoul. fate wasn't so kind as years pass and she had run into him again, the pair reklinding their flame once more. heeae had thought that perhaps he had changed for the better especially when she found herself pregnant with juda, but no. he didn't change and he broke things off with her again and later came to know that he sired other children with an array of different women.
in spite of it, her mother was delusional enough to believe that jaebeom would eventually settle down from his playboy ways and pick her at the end, something in which juda growing up would repeat would never happen. it did not help that in the times that jaebeom would drop by in seoul that he would practically lead her mother on.
despite jaebeom having not been the best lover, he was at least a decent father, providing financial support to juda and her mother who had main custody over her as well as the occasional visit when he was in seoul or be meeting up with her during the holidays depending if juda and her mother were to make the trip to hwan village.
growing up, juda could be considered the apple of many relatives' eyes but most especially, her paternal grandmother when juda shown an interest in ballet at three years old when she was dropped over at the hwan family home on one of the days of chuseok. there was a ballet playing on the tv in which her grandmother was watching with juda sat on her lap. juda then jumped off to try and copy the moves the dancers were doing which amused the older lady. despite juda's young age, she believed she saw potential and suggested she take ballet classes. lo and behold, her hunch was correct especially by the amount of compliments juda had received from instructors. her grandmother had always dreamed of becoming a ballet dancer but she didn't have what they called 'the feet' for it, but juda did and she made sure that no opportunity would be lost for juda.
the older juda got, the more busy her life became with multiple ballet classes, international competitions such as the youth america grand prix, summer intensives abroad, year scholarship at a prestigious ballet school and the like. when she was eighteen, juda was accepted into the year-long vaganova international trainee programme and thus moved to russia for it along with taking the diploma which was an added three years. all of it was funded by juda's paternal grandmother before her death in 2016, right around the time she finally graduated.
not long after funeral and graduation, juda was already leaving for new york after having been accepted to work at the american ballet theatre company as corps du ballet before being promoted up to soloist within a year. she had a bright future and her future only seems to be getting brighter as each year pass with eventually having been promoted to principal dancer as well as more personal highlights in her life such as her recent engagement to a fellow dancer within the company.
her life now as seen from the tiny screens on family members' phones just seem so perfect. after all, it does filter out some of the struggles she did face especially whilst training. however, from where she is standing, she didn't succumb to it, and instead grew more tough-skinned and risen above it all.
OCCUPATION principal dancer at the american ballet theatre (abt) company
ROUTINE juda wakes up early to prepare for work, often two hours before 10am, giving her enough time to arrive at work as warming up and such start at around 10am which then is followed by rehearsals for different productions / shows up until around 7pm which of course would have breaks in between the day, and this would occur between five to six days a week. if there is indeed an evening show she performs at, she likely finishes her day at around 10pm instead. the more roles she gets as well as the more prominent the character she plays, the more busy she will be and as a soloist, there have been the few occasions where she stepped up to perform a principal role. luckily, there's an array of dancers in the company so things aren't too overbearing and overwhelming. even on days off, it is encouraged to continue stretching and such and thus may be found going to pilates or doing some home exercises even whilst having fun and doing her own thing may it be solo or with company. with such a jam-packed schedule, juda's meals are often prepped in advance or she simply orders takeaway.
that would be the usual day in her life if she hadn't ruptured her right achilles tendon whilst working a bit earlier on from this year. it required minor surgery and fortunately, from what she had been told, it shouldn't be career ending however, was told that she should refrain from working (dancing) for a while, quite unfortunate considering it's her debut year as a principal dancer. although no longer relying heavily on a cast or crutches, juda is required to have physiotherapy around three to four times a week with each session lasting between thirty minutes to an hour. juda is very much on track to full recovery and should be able to return to work fully by late january or early february.
her days right now are very much relaxed, just going with the flow of what she feels like doing. if she wants to oversleep, she can. if she wants to just stay indoors or have the whole day out shopping, eating out and whatnot, she can. there's even time for her to make a start on some wedding planning. it just gets a bit isolating since she tends to be by herself since pretty much all her friends and even her fiancé all work within the same company and thus tend to be busy the majority of the day.
CURRENT LIVING SITUATION juda lives in a rented two-bedroom apartment in new york with her fiancé.
SECRET juda knows her fiancé has been cheating on her, or that she may just be 'the other woman' when she received a text message from a random woman claiming to have been in a relationship with said fiancé before breaking things off with him after having found out that he was cheating on her with her. the girl mentioned how she had been with archer for a much longer time than juda had been with him. the woman even claimed that she was pregnant with said fiancé's child. if juda wasn't convinced enough, attached to the message was plentiful amount of proof via images and videos. it feels as if her father's karma for being a playboy had crashed down onto her.
juda has not broken things off with her fiancé. how could she do that when she was relayed such news on the day of her flight back to her home country to spend the holidays at? it would be reckless for her to break things off so suddenly especially as they share an apartment. what may happen to her stuff? additionally, they share mutual friends and she'd rather be in control of the narrative of why their engagement, their relationship ended, and how can that happen effectively if she isn't physically there? she'll do it when she gets back home. for now, she'll just pretend everything is fine. pretend to be oblivious to it all for now.
juda does not dare to share this with family. her pride absolutely won't let her — she doesn't want anyone pitying her. it would just dampen the atmosphere for everyone especially during the holiday season. the situation is absolutely humiliating, and juda isn't the type of person who gets so easily affected by things. juda honestly feels foolish for she usually is the type to notice when something is feeling weird or 'off'...
LIP BALM prone to dry and chapped lips during the autumn-winter season and thus she always has lip balm on her person, ready to apply it on her lips every few hours.
RAIN NOISES juda always sleeps with that playing in the background. in addition, she also uses a sleeping mask.
PILATES however, she can't really do it as intensive as she wants to considering how she is still in recovery. prior to her injury, juda would often go do pilates on her days off from work sometimes.
GAMING she picked up this hobby recently. as she can't dance and therefore cannot work, juda ended up keeping herself busy by reading and such but that wasn't enough and so she turned to mobile gaming and she started off by downloading games heavily advertised online, e.g. genshin impact. before that, the last time she ever played a 'game' was some super mario game and just dance and that was many years ago...

≛ one could state that out of all the kids hwan jaebeom has, he was most present in juda's for: 1) him and her mother's on-again, off-again dynamic still somehow exists, and 2) as someone who travelled a lot and juda being a favourite of his mother's as well as frequently travelling to ballet competitions worldwide and schedules sometimes colliding, he was nagged
encouraged by his mother to come see juda compete and perform, to cheer her on. that led the father-daughter pair to bond more. before juda was made aware of her father's casanova ways in which tainted her view of him, she was a full-on daddy's little girl. she used to naively say about how when she grew up, she would like to marry someone like her father but growing up, she has realised that yeah, she should really avoid someone like her father.
juda doesn't approve of her father's gallivanting especially when it comes to continuously leading on her mother and as she grew older, that would be the thing that would lead them to have a little spout or tension. other than that, they generally do get along. although an adult now, there are still times he would forget that and treat her as if she was still a child. she doesn't mind it too much at times since the up side of it is that he tends to be very agreeable to things she says or asks for.

≛ aside from being a daughter to lee heeae, juda also happens to be the voice of reason to her mother's delusions, reminding the older woman that the likelihood of hwan jaebeom ever retiring from his playboy ways is non-existent, that they'd never be end game and whatever she and her father have is just toxic — all of it is said with a tired monotonous tone as if known off by heart from a script. there have been times when juda would be proud of her mother when she gets into a relationship with what she deemed to be a good and nice man only to sink back into disappointment and disapproval when the relationship ends with the reason ludicrously being that they don't give her the same spark as what juda's father given her.
other than that, juda and her mother have the typical mother-daughter relationship with its highs and lows. even when juda's paternal grandmother contributed a lot to juda's ballet training and the like as well as the fact that heeae is very much a people pleaser who wanted to be favoured by her, she would step in to make sure that juda's life is well-balanced and juda thanks her greatly for that. however, lee heeae is not the type of person in whom juda would feel comfortable in sharing secrets and gossip, or just being vulnerable to as the woman cannot keep shut.

≛ amongst ballet enthusiasts and those within their company, juda and archer are considered to be quite the power couple — both good-looking, talented and there was even a moment in which they realised that they could've known each other sooner as they both had competed in the youth america grand prix (yagp) in the same year. it's as if it was 'fate' for the two to get together when they ended up working for the same ballet company.
they've been together since she was twenty-three and this year was supposedly meant to be the best year of her life as she had been promoted to principal and archer had proposed to her and yet it was ruined by her injury but even moreso at having been made aware that he had been two-timing. juda honestly did love him — he was the right amount of attentive and affectionate, he was funny and she is not going to lie; he's pretty good in bed, but that is all tainted by the fact that he pretty much wasn't loyal to her. juda just doesn't want to talk to him, and the man is lucky that juda found out about his infidelity after he had dropped her off at the airport and left for if it was earlier, he likely would have been severely injured in the physical, verbal and mental sense. with juda being back home in korea for the holidays and her not wanting to become even more stressed by dampening the mood with her fiancé's infidelity, she's doing her best to be the 'loving' fiancée through the occasions here and there where he would call, text or even facetime her on how she is doing, how he misses her etc.
everything seems 'normal'. archer doesn't seem to be noticing anything wrong or different which makes juda assume that the girl had not informed him that she told her of his two-timing.

≛ just because juda is on holiday does not mean she is temporarily exempt from her physiotherapy sessions, and thus was referred to a physiotherapist in korea to go to especially at a clinic near hwan village where she is likely going to spend the majority of her time at. what she wouldn't know until she arrives for her first physio session in korea is that her physiotherapist just so happens to be an old flame, an old friend she had during her teenage years...
he was a guy who lived close to her paternal relatives' place whom she would only have the chance to meet during the holidays when younger, a week or so at a time whom she would play with which then progressed to also communicating through emails and texts and the two forming a crush on each other in their teens before confessing and dating albeit quite brief, having lasted just under a year. one could even say that do seojun was juda's first love.
the last time juda had seen him was just before she had moved to russia for further ballet training and studies. it was also when she had broken up with him amicably as in her mind, a long-distance relationship isn't really something that sounded feasible to her back then especially since it was already quite a struggle then when she mainly lived in seoul and he lived and still lives in gyeongju. she was surprised that he still had remembered her and has remained supporting her and keeping tabs on her life from time to time through her instagram posts. she really thought a situation like theirs where they reunite many years later would be awkward, but it's nothing like that at all. it's as if she had never left or separated at all from him, inwardly making her feel conflicted at what exactly she may be feeling for cheating fiancé or not, she, to many people's knowledge, is still engaged.
THE HWAN FAMILY

≛ juda has mistaken her uncle for her father a couple of times as a child, but years have passed and she can definitely tell the difference now. whilst her father's statements can at times make her sigh, some of the comments she heard her uncle make or have been told he made, have caused her eyes roll or an eyebrow raise with how judgemental, overly traditional and close-minded he can be. all in all, her view on him is neutral especially as they don't really interact much since they don't really have much to say to each other nor do they share similar interests.

≛ juda had been told that some of her mannerisms especially in her speech is similar to that of aunt jihye's, and to this day, she does not know whether it is meant to be a compliment or not.
like with uncle jaejoon, juda doesn't really have much of an opinion on aunt jihye as occasions where juda have interacted with her were very few and far between with aunt jihye having been busy with the family business. most of what juda knows about aunt jihye is from the tidbits her uncle, father and late grandparents etc. would say or have said about her.

≛ from the interactions juda has had with her uncle's wife, she remembers her as having been extremely kind, and someone who happens to be an amazing cook in her opinion unless her taste buds have changed. it has been a while since she has seen the paternal side of her family compared to her maternal side who at times, rather than juda come see them in korea, have travelled to new york to see her at times.
in the times during her childhood when she would be visiting her father's side and is not latched onto her grandparents or father, she was following aunt youngae around like a little duckling. whether aunt youngae remembers those moments, she doesn't know.

≛ considering her age when youngjae was born, an 8 year-old juda would not really have an interest in a newborn — all newborns do is eat, sleep and cry; you can't really do much with them. additionally, by the time youngjae was born, juda had already seen more than enough cousins and half-siblings as babies so, there's nothing novel about his existence, no offence.
it wasn't until he was around his teenage years that juda pretty much viewed him as an alright guy to talk to rather than a kid she would sometimes have to watch over during her visits to hwan village. however, by that time, there really wasn't much bonding opportunities for them to have as she was pretty much busy making a life and career for herself.

01 juda takes over an hour using the shower or the bath tub, and then takes almost an hour with her skincare and make-up which is quite a mystery to everyone as she doesn't even apply much on her face. she annoys people even more as she tends to read books or use her phone in there from time to time. when visiting and staying with family, she has to remember that she is not the only person living in the estate.
02 juda loves really hot showers so much that there have been a few occasions when she exited the bathroom and the steam actually set off the smoke alarm.
03 juda considers herself to not be that close to her half-siblings and cousins as she hasn't come home the longest. additionally, there's the , being one of the eldest. the younger ones probably do not even or barely remember her, and she wouldn't doubt it if there were half-siblings or cousins she forgot existed.
04 her go-to scents especially during the autumn-winter season are: maison margiela's whispers in the library, jazz club or by the fireplace from its replica collection.
05 juda has an incredibly strong alcohol tolerance. she has never gotten drunk before either.
06 juda's a slow eater, and often is the last to finish every thing off of her plate. she probably eats slowly to savour the taste of food especially since her youth, she had been told to 'watch' her 'weight'. it's only now as an adult that she has become a more intuitive eater.
07 despite her association with 'miffy', rabbits aren't her favourite animal. her favourite animal is a sea otter.
08 if she has to pick a favourite ballet, she probably would pick don quixote.
09 juda's love language is gifts, and she noticeably ends up looking disappointed and upset when there really is no thought behind the gift given to her when she has gone through a lot of thought and research for what the other person may like or need for a gift. in terms of her love language in a setting outside of familial and platonic, she is one for physical touch.
10 juda's biggest pet peeve is when someone keeps going 'uhhh', 'ummm' and using filler words such as 'like' every few words when speaking.
11 what she missed about korea since returning would be how things are much more affordable compared to new york.
12 with how busy her schedule is and other factors such as time difference, family tend to keep up with her life with what she posts on social media, especially instagram with her handle simply being @itsjudalee.
13 juda's very light on her feet that she often unintentionally scares family and friends for from their point of view, juda has appeared behind or in front of them out of nowhere, not having sensed her at all.

15 juda as of arriving in korea doesn't wear her ring, her ring just kept zipped in the inner pocket of her handbag. when asked why she doesn't have her engagement ring on her, she explains that she must've just forgotten it back home. with family knowing how disorganised she can be, it's very much plausible.
16 juda wouldn't mind having children of her own someday but considering how the career span of an active ballet dancer tends to retire between the ages of thirty and forty, she would dread the thought of being pregnant within the next few years especially when one year has practically been taken from her due to her achilles tendon rupture.
17 juda was proposed to on the evening she had been appointed as principal dancer at the company with their mutual friends, co-workers present. when she thinks back on it, in the moment, she really didn't care in the way she had been proposed to but she would have preferred if it was a more personal and intimate affair and not on such a special day that was mainly all about her achievements that got her to the highest rank within the company.

CHUSEOK juda hasn't spent chuseok with family in years. the last time she ever spent chuseok with family, especially the ones on her father's side, would have probably been when grandmother and grandfather were still alive.
she enjoyed dressing up in pretty hanboks and eating lots of good food as well as receiving gifts in the form of money however, when it did come to it, she remembers how she would have to 'dance' first before obtaining it. in the years she hadn't been in korea during chuseok, she would do a mini celebration of her own by pre-ordering her favourite korean foods, or had been invited to celebrate chuseok with a friend's family, or a couple friends would gather to have a feast together whilst she would text a brief 'happy chuseok' to everyone in the family group chat. it's one of the rare times she would communicate with the whole family.
HALLOWEEN juda doesn't care for halloween, even back when she was a child and many kids around her were enamoured with dressing up and trick-or-treating. makes sense as she never really been into sweets. dressing up seems fun to her, but she does more than enough dressing up considering her occupation. halloween is pretty much any normal day for her so much so that she tends to forget the existence of the holiday.
CHRISTMAS it's the most wonderful time of the year, is it not? the snow, the lights, the decorations, the music, the meals, the presents... it's just so fun and mesmerising in juda's eyes. in terms of the christmas period in the ballet season, it isn't her favourite for as mentioned before, it's never-ending performances of 'the nutcracker'. juda isn't really one for parties, but christmas parties tend to be an exception especially with games such as secret santa and white elephant happening—she quite enjoys the chaos of it.
juda prefers celebrating and opening presents on christmas eve rather than christmas day. prior to having lived abroad and still having mainly resided in korea, christmas eve was reserved for family whilst christmas day was reserved for friends as unlike the 'west', shops, restaurants, museums and the like remain open. christmas day isn't so fun in new york and so, juda often stays within her apartment doing whatever with her 'fiancé'.
NEW YEAR'S as a child, juda found the new year to be quite boring but she assumed that it was mainly because new year's was just an intimate get-together with family and the kids are often sent straight to sleep before the countdown to new year's. when she gotten older and was allowed to stay up until new year's eve, the situation was just underwhelming 'cause right when it strikes midnight and everyone has done their happy new year greetings, the excitement just 'disappears'. she finds more fun spending new year's with friends than she does with family.
before she moved to new york, juda and friends would spend the whole day hanging out around the city before going to co-ex or lotte world tower for the new year's countdown and fireworks show. this tradition seem to have carried on with her when she moved to new york but with new friends and a 'fiancé', and instead of co-ex or lotte world, it's times square.

"i don't have a favourite... no? i can't answer like that? i have to actually give a name?" juda blinks before folding her arms together as she ponders who to pick. she then answers, "then i guess aunt youngae... does she count?"

"i doubt it'll be a full house... we all have different schedules. it's a miracle in itself that they managed to get everyone here in the first place. for example: i wouldn't have been able to come here in the first place if it wasn't for my injury. it's the busiest time for ballet companies around this time of the year too..."

"as long as the surprise doesn't involve the existence of a secret relative, i'm down for anything but seeming as though it's a joint surprise, i don't have to worry about that."

i've always wanted to create an oc inspired-ish by the two songs i've put down for a while, but never really found the perfect situation to until now. hope you like juda and hopefully everything makes sense!
SCENE SUGGESTIONS
≛ a relative, probably half-sibling, noticing that there is 'something' about juda's relationship with her physiotherapist, and assuming that she may be cheating on her fiancé, becoming similar to their dad. some sort of confrontation about it, and juda revealing her secret to them due to it.
≛ juda perhaps breaking off her engagement much earlier than planned.
