growing up, heiran had always been told and reminded that one's first impressions matter — it's a huge factor behind how one decides whether someone is worth interacting, worth helping and trusting. to quite a high degree, heiran agrees as she finds herself mentally critiquing the way in which others present and interact with people, may it be bad or good, coming to a conclusion that can sometimes be not-so-accurate. what she may have not taken into account would perhaps be the stranger she had been observing just having a one-off bad type of day.

heiran's birth was not something expected nor planned as seen with the she has with her older brothers, heejun and heejin being 8 and 10 years older then her respectively, and her parents having been in their 40s when she was born. it really wasn't much of an issue considering they were more than financially capable in raising another child, and that it wouldn't be all too stressful considering that their older children attended boarding school, and so the duration of the academic year, heiran received undivided attention from them... well, undivided attention from the nanny mainly. her parents were often busy during the day because of work, or sometimes be gone for weeks, attending multiple conferences and such around the world.

she had a privileged upbringing, mainly due to her father's side of the family, being renowned plastic surgeons or estheticians and having many plastic surgery clinics and hospitals under their direction and management, having a plethora of clients, many of whom are part of the entertainment industry. heiran could pretty much get just about whatever she wanted if she were to ask. it is why she often receives remarks from others of how lucky she is to have been born like this, receiving opportunities the average person may likely not experience through their entire lifetime.

that is true yet simultaneously, she considers her upbringing to be quite sheltered and lonely at times, often being alone in their home with her only play companion really having been the nanny and prepping her up to be an exemplary child before she was to start attending institut le rosey in switzerland like her brothers when she reached eight years old with constant reminders to be good and not inconvenience others. unlike her brothers who had each other when they attended, considering their small , she was on her own with no one else she knew from back home attending with her and so albeit being a polite and well-behaved child, she was painfully shy even in the face of things positive such as praise and compliments.

fortunately, a teacher noticed and suggested that perhaps trying for drama and theatre as extra-curriculars may possibly help with her confidence. lo and behold, it did end up helping to a certain extent, helping her garner friends. she was told that she shown great promise in acting, performing professionally. it was also the first time she had something which her parents didn't start using her brothers as some sort of pedestal to compare like what they did with grades, or with piano. her parents had high expectations for she and her siblings, but she admits that she is likely the luckiest out of them especially with how it seems set in stone that they expect her brothers to also follow in their footsteps. they never really expected much of her rather than to be and to do good, something in which her older brothers have on, claiming that their parents have gone easy on her because she's the baby of the family.

july 2018 changed the usual structure in her life. upon returning home to korea, arriving at incheon airport ready to be picked up to spend the summer with family before having to go back to school abroad for the next academic year, a scout for mhd entertainment had noticed her and insisted she try auditioning for them, insisting she has the look of a star. heiran was unsure, believing it to be some sort of scam until she had her parents check the business card handed to her and they recognised details being legitimate and accurate as their clinics do have links with them, having received actors and actresses managed by them as clients over the years. there were also doubts of whether she would even be good enough to which her family shrugged and said, "it wouldn't hurt to try" especially as she is in the position to take chances like these.

heiran auditioned, assuming it was for acting... after all, it was what mhd entertainment was well-known for and had prepped and performed a monologue from the play shakespeare in love in korean to which she was later confused and caught off-guard when they then asked her to sing and dance for them. heiran ended up singing love story by taylor swift which was a bit shaky, at times pitchy yet was able to carry a tune and danced awkwardly to a one-person waltz, but hey, at least she showed understanding of tempo and the ability to follow steps. not even a week after the audition passed and she received news that she was accepted but not as an acting trainee but an idol one which made her think that there was some sort of mistake. they assured her that there wasn't a mistake, and they found her more suited towards becoming an idol (they were desperate for more options in girl idol trainees), but assured her that she is definitely more than welcome in attending acting lessons under their tutelage for acting is indeed a path idols do tend to take earlier or later in their career. despite still being a bit hesitant, she accepted.

🌺IU & TAYLOR SWIFT her favourite artists, and has been since she was a little girl. as of august 2019, love poem and modern times would be her favourite albums from iu whilst speak now and lover are hers from taylor's (until folklore is released in 2020). heiran does a fantastic job promoting them via social media and word of mouth more than she does for her own group. a close third would have to be exo, her favourite member being baekhyun.
🌺SMALL OR LOCAL BUSINESSES having grown up around people who pretty much had the same pieces of clothing and accessories from the same brands, heiran found herself looking to brands and places that are less known to the masses. heiran particularly likes looking for jewellery and other accessories such as bags from those type of places alongside art pieces and stationery. bespoke pieces to heiran is just as interesting. to heiran, this is her version of what she considers to be 'luxury', considering them as very enriching experiences.
🌺ROMANCE heiran's a er for romantic songs and stories, filled with men so perfect that it may be the reason as to why any example of what she considers to be her ideal type end up being a fictional character from a book, film, game, anime and the like. heiran can't help but squeal, giggle, kick her feet whenever she finds something incredibly romantic or exciting. she doesn't consider herself too delusional though for she does cringe and judge when she finds certain aspects of whatever she is consuming to be too cheesy or questionable.
🌺BLIND BOXES mystery packs and more. she finds the idea of the unknown to be exciting especially when there's a specific item you want. due to this, she had been told on more than one occasion, "you would probably enjoy gacha games." it is something she is considering getting into. in september 2020 is when heiran finally understands the hype around gacha games when genshin impact releases, and becomes a 'husbando collector'— team synergy doesn't exist in her team comps. as long as she highly invests in their builds, they should be fine.
🌺QUIZZES heiran finds amusement in answering quizzes such as 'what is your mbti type?', 'what is your love language?' and 'what character are you from this series'.
🌺FOLKLORE & MYTHOLOGY heiran would say that reading the percy jackson series as a child sparked that interest for her and made her want to explore other lores and mythologies aside from greek and roman. she says the interest in these matters ended up coinciding with her also gaining an interest in the stars and the cosmos. her eyes spark in excitement when she notices something or someone making a reference to them.
🌺 CATS quite fitting considering her nickname of espurr. heiran adores them however, they tend to ignore her unless she has food to give. even her family's ragdoll named 'catier', a pun on the luxury watch and jewellery brand 'cartier', would ignore her.
🌺 WINNIE THE POOH her favourite disney character. casually collects plushies and merch based around the bear. was read the winnie the pooh books to as a child. despite this, plushies she would often receive from fans during fanmeets tend to be of the pokemon espurr, fellow disney character marie from the aristocats or even sanrio's my melody as they seem to suit her supposed aesthetic more. at least she likes cats.

DISLIKES.

🌺CHORES in particular, anything to do with taking out rubbish or having to wash dishes. heiran feels like retching and gagging if she were to touch any residue of food from dirty plates, even when she has gloves on to prevent direct contact with her skin.
🌺PIZZA heiran doesn't think she's a picky eater. in fact, considering all the ingredients that are put together to make a classic pizza, she should like it but no matter what flavour or combination, she just finds something 'off' about it from its smell to its taste. heiran hopes that the group will never have to do a pizza cf / endorsement.
🌺 BAD DRIVING it will trigger heiran's motion sickness. her motion sickness is also the reason why she avoids amusement park rides like rollercoasters. her motion sickness on other modes of transport, e.g. planes, boats and trains used to be so bad when she was younger and had to take medication for it in which one of its side effects was drowsiness. although not severe anymore nor needing any medication, she finds that her body has associated those vehicles to sleeping in them thus the reason why she doesn't feel sick from them anymore. she falls asleep straight away the moment they start moving.
🌺 NEGATIVITY arguments and ranting are a big no-no for heiran particularly if someone is to drag other people into it unwillingly and cause them as well as the atmosphere to become so dreary and suffocating. the negativity also applies to when someone makes an unwarranted comment towards someone and it completely ruins their mood. just why?
🌺 SUMMER and other things people associate the season with such as beaches and the heat. she is not a fan of sweat and sunburns as well as insects. to heiran, the best time of the year is mid-autumn to late spring.
🌺 GERMS & DIRT one can always count on her that she has hand sanitiser or a packet of wet wipes in her bag due to this. it is also one of the reasons as to why one will never catch her sitting down on grass without a blanket.
🌺 SUPERHERO FILMS heiran honestly does not care for dc or marvel films, an opinion she has which people around her find shocking. she had been dragged to watch one in a cinema before and she got so bored she fell asleep.
🌺 LAST MINUTE PLANS especially when they're told to her when the last time she checked, she had a free schedule and was planning to just laze about at home. even worse is if the plans are so last minute, she can't say no and has to rush in getting herself ready.

TRIVIA.

🌺MEANING IN A NAME the hanja characters of her name 'heiran' mean 'grace' and 'orchid'. both her given name and surname are considered extremely rare and uncommon to korean standards.
🌺 SCENT during the summer, heiran smells heavily of citrus, peppermint or lavender due to its scent deterring insects from going in close proximity to bite her. she does this as her skin gets red and swollen more than the average person from bites which can be difficult to conceal with make-up. when it is not summer, her signature scent is another 13 by le labo.
🌺 ACCENT having received the majority of her education abroad in europe, her english accent ends up sounding what others dub as vaguely european.
🌺 EDUCATION the company suggested she transfer to hanlim arts or sopa that are more understanding of idols, actors, trainees and their schedules or even just complete a ged, but her parents were vehemently against it especially as the years her old school had prepped her in taking the ibac and such would then go to waste. unlike her peers at the company, she is attending seoul foreign school as they are one of the few institutions in seoul that have students do the international baccalaureate.
🌺 NEIGHBOURHOOD heiran grew up at un village in hannam-dong, which happens to also be home to quite a number of celebrities whom she would casually spot from time to time. due to this, she doesn't get starstrucked that easily.
🌺 THEATRE was part of the theatre club back at institut le rosey, often performing in plays. due to this, fans assume that she likely may delve into an acting project or two in the future.
🌺 FAVOURITE ACTORS vivien leigh, her roles as scarlett o'hara from gone with the wind and blanche dubois from a streetcar named desire were iconic. her first love was actor gregory peck from back when she was six when her nanny played an old film he starred in on the tv, roman holiday.

🌺 SPECIAL TALENT perhaps this is due to having grown up around a family that specialises in altering people's faces and physiques, but heiran's mind cannot help but notice what procedures people undergone, if they did. this 'talent' of hers is not advised by the company to ever share or showcase in public for it likely may lead to some form of backlash. instead, what she showcases tend to be her memorisation skills, re-enacting monologues, dialogues from dramas, films or even cfs upon first look and listen with amazing precision. playing piano works, too.
🌺 PIANO enrolled into lessons by her parents since she was a child, and managed to reach grade eight piano at sixteen. when heiran is nervous, she often would be using her hands and pretending her lap is the piano, playing a random piece to calm herself down.

it was clear to her as well as everyone else that she was one of the weaker links, and that she had likely been accepted through pretty privilege. gossip and news spread like wildfire, and it didn't take long for everyone to find out that heiran auditioned via acting. acting was her main goal yet it didn't affect her work ethic when training in singing, dancing and rapping. singing, dancing and such was similar in acting when it comes to trying to set the right ambience, lyrics being like a script, one in which you need to convey the right feelings, the right expressions. for a brief moment, it's as if you're donning a mask and pretending to be someone else. there was fun amidst the chaos.

it also didn't take long for people to find out that her family are rich and quite influential in the industry even with heiran's attempts of not making it obvious. the first sign was when many trainees realised that she didn't attend any of the performing arts schools in the city like the majority of them, and finding out she was attending seoul foreign school which had rather high tuition fees.

some didn't keep it a secret that her presence was rather unwelcomed with her having heard remarks like "unlike most people here where this is their one and only shot to make something of their selves, she can do whatever she pleases, being backed up by her family's money" or "don't you think the company is being too lenient? her performances every monthly evaluation are nothing too special yet they still keep her" and "she auditioned to be an actor, not an idol. why did they (the company) decide upon this?" the remarks hurt yet what could she do about it? they're not false. all she could do was ignore and focus on herself and continue working hard. she's not entirely 'useless' as what some may deem her to be. those comments hurt her the most when she heard it the first few times it had her considering leaving to which her family discouraged her from doing, telling her not to give those people the satisfaction and let those people be sour and bitter.

training to heiran also felt more manageable when she did manage to make a friend or two she considered close enough to. however, there were moments when she was unsure whether those sentiments were mutual, considering she didn't have the closeness trainees who both train and attend school together did.

heiran having been picked to debut as a member for mhd's new girlgroup mood ring was one met by some controversy in the eyes of quite a number of trainees. at the same time, some were not surprised for debuting people with high visuals with subpar skills was fairly common in the entertainment industry, even moreso when those people have the money and, or the connections.

🌺 STAGE NAME  wang heiran most tend to go for a mononymous stage name, but heiran professionally goes by her full birth name. it's such a unique name and it flows so well that it would be a shame not to use it as is. however, after introducing herself as wang heiran in things like shows and interviews, she as well as everyone else do refer to her as just heiran.

the parenting style of wang hojun and his wife was very relaxed, at least by the time heiran was finally born. that is what heiran assumed especially as her brothers told her that if they ever had the interest in acting or becoming an idol instead, they likely would've grown a second head and would think that they were playing around.

there's no doubt that the couple care for their children, but their love is often presented through gift-giving and acts of service. they're the type of parents one wouldn't necessarily go to if you want to be comforted. they're the ones who would find solutions and give advice instead so could they be a bit harsh unintentionally with their wordings? yes. they just want the best for their children, but at the same time, they also do not want to be embarrassed by them and so comes a weird balance between being easygoing yet still having high standards and expectations off of them. right now in present day, it is the most that heiran has ever received great attention from them, a large factor to that perhaps being the fact that although they're still working, they retired from being active in operations and other procedures, their tasks being more administrative like overseeing budgets and such. it's not odd for heiran to receive phone calls or text messages from her parents saying that they saw her on 'xyz' followed by feedback on what they thought she did well in and what she could do to improve.

considering their s, heiran and her brothers barely interacted with one another when she was a child. most of what she remembers from being a child was them teasing her or play wwe style with her, something in which had been banned by their parents one summer holiday when their nanny had to explain to their parents that the reason why heiran and her brothers had such terrible bruises on their heads was that they headbutted each other too hard in the name of wrestling.

as for when she finally turned a teen and now into present day, interactions with her older brothers are rather scarce due to all of them leading rather busy lifestyles, heiran with training and her brothers still in training to be specialised plastic surgeons and other life milestones such as her eldest brother expecting his first child with his wife, and her second eldest one busy with wedding planning. however, in the rare moments that they do have the time to see each other or converse, their topics of discussion run deep almost to the point of philosophical that not even they would think in sharing with their parents. it's in moments like those when her brothers realise that she's not the little baby they used to try flinging up in the air anymore recklessly. nevertheless, the protective instinct in them still remains as fresh.

🌺 NANNY jo junhee 조준희 1960, mostly known as 'auntie' 이모 to the wang children ISFJ

a second mother to her, and someone who also had nannied her two older brothers. heiran was so attached to her as a child that she cried for days when she was told that when she was to attend boarding school, she couldn't bring her nanny or 'imo' (auntie) along. heiran honestly believed that meant she would be gone forever and had to be consistently assured that it wasn't the case and she would see her again during the holidays. it wasn't a reaction unique to her, but her brothers also reacted the same way at her age then. heiran deeply trusts, respects and admires her, and probably the person she lets her guard down around the most. she practically did most of the raising with junhee pretty much being heiran's biggest supporter even when junhee stopped being her nanny when heiran was considered 'old enough' at fifteen. she continued fussing over her like a mother hen.

they still keep in contact and is still close to the family with junhee enjoying an early retirement with her husband. heiran promised that she would give the woman her first ever pay cheque to which the woman insisted that she just pay for a lovely meal with her when the day comes.

the trainee that she had been closest to. jinkyung left sometime in the spring of 2019, having decided to leave the idol dream behind and decided it would be best for her to focus on her studies instead and attend university, having been accepted at ewha for journalism as well as doing some commercial modelling as a side-gig. it's not odd for heiran to be around the ewha, sinchon and hongdae area when she is not busy to do some catching up with jinkyung over a meal like korean bbq with heiran often footing the bill as well as doing some other activities as mundane as shopping. a meet-up with her wouldn't be complete without jinkyung asking if there's any news juicy in relation to heiran or even the group such as a comeback, a show appearance and the like which heiran would often have to remind her that such matters are confidential and the light-hearted reminder that jinkyung can only keep secrets for so long before it just bursts out of her.

jinkyung's a curious individual, having gained a reputation during her time in the company of being nosy, a gossipmonger. she was the first to research and find out more of heiran's background. despite this, she had a feeling of indifference towards heiran until one night after training when sikyung couldn't find her t-money card, heiran was around witnessing her frantically rummaging her bag for it or at least some loose change. heiran helped her, walking to the nearest convenience store and got her a replacement card, topping it up with enough cash that could last her a week or two of metro rides. from that day on, jinkyung, the extrovert she is, decided to 'adopt' her as a friend and older-sister figure. it was a friendship most unexpected by everyone.

noeul was a child actor managed under a different company before moving over to mhd entertainment in the middle of 2020, a year after mood ring had debuted. heiran and the girls had met him briefly before then when he had been a special mc for about a week or two on a music show.

how the two eventually ended up being friends was when noeul went to the mhd entertainment building for the first time to have private talks with staff there about signing onto the company, contract details etc. he had run into heiran and she helped guide him to the right floor, the right room as well as had a conversation about the company, their work and even down to more trivial things such as what restaurants or cafes are good around the area — they clicked on well with each other, having similar tastes and interests (mainly acting). heiran ended up being the reason why he ultimately chose to sign with mhd as compared to the other companies he had visited and discussed with, at mhd, he unintentionally gotten a personal account from someone who was signed under them. it's a story that would become quite well-known within the fandom although it would not stop some from speculating that their friendship may be more than platonic. aside from the occasional sighting of them outside, it's not odd to perhaps promote the other's latest single or project through sns, something normal of fellow label mates to do or even sometimes comment on each other's posts or do a brief message on one's livestream. quite wholesome.

          WANG HEIRAN'S FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF

🌺 FERN very intrigued in the way she carries herself especially with how expressive and seemingly unapologetic she is in the way she presents herself. simultaneously, heiran is also rather concerned with the amount of crying she does and the reasons for it at times. a mental note heiran made to herself after the first few times she witnessed those tears was to make sure she has a packet of tissues on her at all times to hand the same-aged girl just in case.
🌺 HANA the duality hana has when on and off the 'spotlight' never fails in making heiran's eyes widen and jaw drop in awe. her singing and dancing conveys so much expression, it tells a story that heiran can't help but think that if hana ever considers venturing into acting, she would probably do great, but it's clear in just about everyone's eyes that hana's passion lies with dancing. upon first meeting, they seem to have barely anything in common other than perhaps having brothers, but things between them seem to be just fine. heiran considers hana to be quite a nice and friendly figure, and someone very much deserving of a spot to debut in mood ring.
🌺 ARIA from when it had been decided who made the final line-up for mood ring and the girls were immediately placed in a dorm together, ayeon became a familiar face to heiran in the evenings, sometimes running into each other in the dorm due to the fault of aria's insomnia and heiran just having terrible sleeping habits. gradually would go from awkward hellos and good nights to laughing quietly in amusement and engaging into random conversations to the point they end up tiring each other out.

🌺 "yes, of course. is my mic on?" heiran asks, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear as she clears and straightens her posture.

"wang heiran, fighting!" a phrase of encouragement could be heard from behind the camera, causing heiran to chuckle ever so slightly.

once given the thumbs up, she composes herself as she says, "mood ring member wang heiran here. it's nice to finally meet you," before bowing her head deeply in respect then raising her head back up to give a shy yet soft grin along with a wave from both hands, her hands half-covered due to the long sleeves of the cardigan she was wearing.

"WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL STRENGTHS?".

🌺 "umm... let's see..." her voice trails off as ponders over what would be the best answer for this question. "the first thing i thought of was my work ethic, but all the girls here work just as hard. perhaps it's my flexibility? i'd like to think that i'm some sort of chameleon that can fit into or help balance things to make it all cohesive no matter the task or concept."

heiran went quiet for a bit after saying that to which people assumed that they were going to move on to the next question, but she quickly added, "out of all the girls, i'm one of the or the only one who had partaken in acting training and i would love to showcase that if the opportunity ever arises in the future," nodding her head, smiling to herself. heiran was glad that the camera was only filming her from chest upwards. in a way, people watching from the screen wouldn't be able to notice her fidgeting with her hands on her lap out of nervousness. it would be the first time thousands, hundreds of thousands of people will know about her and she had to make everything count.

"WHAT COLOR SUITS YOU?".

🌺 "i've debated about that before and after much consideration, perhaps some shade of peach? like the fruit the colour is named after, they tend to evoke sweetness as well as youthfulness, traits in which i hope i embody well?" heiran says with a slight head tilt. she also couldn't help but mentally joke how like a peach, she also tends to be susceptible to bruising physically and at times mentally.

"WHAT'S YOUR GOAL FOR MOod ring?" .

🌺 "to be happy..." a simple wish, a vague answer yet it seems to encapsulate everything from health, wealth to success. "let's be happy no matter what life may throw at us..."
