For a long time Dasom let the system play her, but now she’s here to play the system. She has this grand plan, use her looks to get fame. But that’s about it, there’s no step by step scheme or specific game plan, she’s going to wing it as she goes along. 

The epitome of decisive spontaneity, there’s no deterring Dasom once she makes up her mind. She’s convinced herself that looks is all you need to get popular and no one can convince her otherwise because she’s lived through it. Yes she’d still sing her off in a song and yes she’d attend dance practices but will she put as much effort into dancing as she did before? No. Instead she’d focus on making sure her face is angled properly or that her hair isn’t messed up so netizens can constantly praise her visuals. 

It’s frustrating for the others when she’s the only one not drenched in sweat during practice because she’s not going as hard but to her it’s all just a waste of effort. She been there done that and it got her absolutely nowhere. 

She’s easily social, loves a good gossip, making friends all over and hanging out with others. It doesn’t take her long to find out who is who, where they come from, their family background or their influence and she’d make sure she befriends the ones that benefit her. She’d consider herself more of an opportunist than a manipulator though. She’d actually consider manipulator an insult. She does tend to have mean girl tendencies that weren’t there before though, she’s hyper focused on the materialistic aspects of others and could be a bit judgmental in that aspect.

However, it’s easy to tell that Dasom isn’t originally this vain person that she’s pretending to be. Yes she’ll go after what she wants, she’d flirt with the executive at a party and act drunk just to get into bed with them so they can get her in a commercial. Yes she’ll act dainty and cute just to get attention from netizens. But she’ll run and tell her friends about it like an excited puppy right after. Jump and squeal about sleeping with a married man because they’ll give her an opportunity. She’d point out some visual flaws in her friends casually to help them look their best as well, not realizing that she comes off as off putting at times. If you happen to like a visual of a group that she also finds good looking she’d sleep with them then excitedly tell you all about it and be completely confused why you’re upset. 

“Don’t worry, you can still have him. I don’t like him or anything. I’m just impressed that I was even able to pull that. We should totally go out for drinks to celebrate!”

This is one of the reasons people would think she’s two faced. Most people would be able to tell that that’s betraying a friend. But to Dasom it’s just apart of business, and to her business is separate from personal life. Men have a whole family at home yet still sleep with women like it’s nothing so why can’t she? She spent too long trying not to step on any toes. Over everything else she’s looking out for herself because in the end you have to be able to catch yourself when you fall. 

All the external beauty she now holds doesn’t change the insecure little girl on the inside though. She’s still addicted to looking herself up to see what others say, hyper focusing on the negative. She deals with negative emotions by either ranting to a friend or being more proactive towards her goals. Rejection triggers her to go on rants and question her beauty. Whenever she gets called out for her actions she gets defensive because no matter who she hurt in the process she is the ultimate victim. Society made her like this, it’s not her fault. Don’t hate the player, hate the game. 

Seungkwan is Dasom’s gay best friend minus the gay part. Part of her is actually still convinced that he really is gay though. They met when they were still trainees, it was 2012 and she saw him through a monthly evaluation. She practically knew anybody back then except for the new trainee that was almost hitting whistle tones. His vocals blew her away and that was enough for her to talk to him. It didn’t take long for them to become good friends, both outgoing people in their own right. Throughout her whole idol journey he has remained one of if not her best friend. She tells him everything, even the things he might not want to hear like who she’s crushing on, specifically her nauseating crush on Mingyu. Since they were little Seungkwan has proved himself to be one of the girls, maybe it’s because he grew up with two older sisters so he’s used to it or he just always wanted a younger sister but he let her get away with almost anything. He remains the kind of best friend that defends her even if she’s in the wrong, but after Elysium debuts he isn’t sure how much longer he can keep that up anymore. He doesn’t agree with how she’s become, of course he’s happy for her that she’s more confident but it’s gone a little too far. It could also just be that he’s jealous that all these guys are getting a chance and he’s been friend zoned for so long. Or even worse that he understands what she’s going through and her big revelation just might be right and he’s just another victim. 

“Why can’t you just be happy for me? I’m pretty now, I’m successful.”

“But are you even happy anymore?”

Being such a long time trainee, Sungcheol wasn’t only the dad of seventeen but many of the trainees and Dasom was one of his children. He takes the fact that they have the same last name very seriously. They aren’t nearly as close as her and Seungkwan but everytime he sees her he feels obligated to debrief her like a protective older brother. He still sees her as that little Zoom Zoom that would come during school breaks. Around him she can’t help but to melt a little under his head pats. 

“Do you have a boyfriend yet?”

“Me? I'm too pretty for the boys here.”

“Haha that's right ZoomZoom.”

Dasom remembers Oksun, she was at a showcase back when she was a trainee. She ended up signing a few of the trainees to his own company. She wasn’t one of them. She particularly remembers her complimenting her vocals then moving on to sign a prettier girl with much less talent. At the time Dasom didn’t mind because she wanted to stay in Pledis anyways, however, the memory replayed over and over in her head after she debuted. A haunting reminder of the hints that she previously overlooked. Yet after getting plastic surgery she hired her as fast as ever. So Dasom doesn’t want to hear Oksun's warnings. She's just another part of the problem. 

“You're talented, you don't have to do this.” 

“Really? Is that why you only signed me after I got surgery?”

Dasom would be lying if she said she was never jealous of Siyeon. They were best friends since they were 8 but they also met in the most competitive environment possible. Siyeon has done nothing but cheer Dasom on while Dasom harbored a deep jealousy within her. Siyeon isn’t very active in the industry anymore. She has a regular job and acts when she can, in a happy relationship with a non celebrity. Dasom doesn’t understand how someone as beautiful as her could settle for that. Dasom actually takes pride in the fact that her longevity lasted longer than Siyeon’s. She tells Siyeon everything and never misses a chance to brag about herself while Siyeon listens intently just happy that her friend is getting the recognition she deserves. She does have the tendency to encourage Dasom’s behavior though. Even finding ways to help her by keeping up with who and what is trending since idols can be a bit out of touch sometimes with their busy schedules.

"You should hook up with Jungkook, I bet that'll open a lot of doors for you."

“I'm trying to get fame, not death threats. Besides it's hard to pin him down, he's overseas too much."

"Then maybe you can get to him through a friend."

"Ooooh you might be onto something."
