WHO ARE YOU?

background : Leslie, also known as Daeun and formerly known as Haseul, was born in Jeonju of South Korea. There, she spent most of her toddler days and in April of 2006 her and her family moved to Edmonton, Canada. Now, who are her family? We have her mother, Frances, her father, Jihoon, her older sister, Evelyn, her grandmother (mothers side), Kyunghee / Beatrice, and her grandfather (father's side), Jungnam / Arthur. As Leslie got older, she found a major interest in music. She started playing piano, and when she got her hands on a bass guitar she started playing bass! At school, she ended up joining everything related to music which she could. Through that, she found theatre and musicals, which then became a huge interest of hers. Leslie started singing and joined a local choir after acting in her first musical, and that led to her getting really interested in both singing and rap. Then, in early 2016, her grandmother (fathers side) got sick. The family, except for her older sister as she was an adult, ended up moving back to South Korea in April of 2016. It was a huge mess, and Leslie had to you know… leave her friends, after school clubs and everything behind.

But she ended up making the best of the situation! She auditioned for a bunch of kpop companies, and passed the first few rounds of auditions for both SM, JYP, RBW and STARSHIP – her main goal was SM, as most of the groups she really really loved were under SM, but after another round or so SM ended up declining her and ultimately she ended up joining C9 Entertainment. In the summer of 2018 she on Produce 48, but ended up being eliminated in the fifth episode with the final rank of 60th overall. After being eliminated on Produce48 she debuted as a member of their newest girl group cignature under her birth name Haseul, the group debuted with "Nun Nu Na Na" she left the group on April 27, 2021 she had left the group and the company alongside her fellow group mates Ye Ah and Sunn. 

personality: Leslie is kind of oblivious and people often have to tell them directly what they mean when speaking. So, please, no beating around the bush with her as she seriously just wont get it. She can also be pretty slow with understanding and realising things. Tied in with this is their inability to understand most social cues. Yes, they’re still extremely polite and kind, but for the most part social cues just flies right past them which can be pretty damn annoying for everyone involved. Leslie is, to put it simple, really easy to distract. If she’s talking to to you but a dreamcatcher song starts playing? You bet she’s way more focused on Siyeon than whatever you’re saying. Because of this, she can be a pretty slow learner - especially if she’s  not interested and invested in whatever is going on, because even if she tries her thoughts just whisk her away. They’re very friendly and generally just a kind person. Most of the time, they’re able to make people smile and laugh, or at least make people feel better. They try to always be there for people and they always try to cheer people up. Even though Leslie is, well, sort of a slow learner they actually have a great memory! She can remember and memorise things pretty easily and, as long as she’s interested in whats going on, she’ll probably remember it for a pretty darn long time. Plus, they’re very observant when it comes to the smaller details; even though a lot of things can just fly past them she often notice smaller things and smaller details.

Leslie is really good with talking to other people and making friends. They’re the type of person who “makes friends everywhere they go” as they’re not scared to walk up and start conversations with strangers, and generally is just pretty easy to talk to. They’re a good listener, and also a good talker!. Leslie is also… kind of impulsive. Thinking thoroughly about decisions really isnt something they’re good at. Like, if she wants to do something she will most likely go do that something. This also means that her walking up to strangers mostly is done because of impulses, and a lot of the things she buys is also on impulse. They’re stubborn. Yeah, that’s that. They’re just stubborn. She will not back down from anything, and she will be prepared to take on challenges. She will state her opinions, and she’s prepared to argue for them. On top of this, she’s pretty darn competitive - if she’s in a competition of any sort, she’ll give it her all to win. She’s the type of person to make it a competition to get to the kitchen first, so basically she’s a bit childish too…? Leslie likes to joke around a lot and likes being childish, I guess.

— Frances Moon — Mother — 48 — Pharmacist, Medicine Shop Owner — 10/10 — Responsible, Talkative, Cheery — Frances and her daughter Leslie have a good bonding relationship with each other, everyday after school when Leslie comes home Frances always asks how her day was at school today. Leslie is always having on and off days at school sometimes she'll tell her mum she had a bad day or another time she'll say she's had a good day. But overall her mother is always there for her when she needs her and she's always supportive of what Leslie does with her future.

                                        
— Moon Jihoon — Father — 52 — Doctor — 8/10 — Caring, Talkative, Clever, Smart — Even though they get along really well her father sometimes works morning shifts and comes home early. He would always read Leslie a bedtime story before she goes to sleep. Jihoon has also been there for Leslie in a caring way and just like her mum, he's always supports Leslie on doing what she wants to do.

                                        
— Evelyn — Older Sister — 24 — Backup Dancer — 9/10 — Hard-Working, Friendly, Kind — Evelyn has never argued with her younger sister Leslie because she's that role model to Leslie. When Evelyn was in her adult age she wanted to become an idol but became a backup dancer instead, she is currently a student in 1Million Dance Studio and has danced for SEVENTEEN, BTS Chungha and many more artists. When Leslie saw that her sister became a backup dancer and dancing with other idold it made Leslie just want to be on that stage and become an idol instead of a backup dancer.

                                       
— Beatrice Moon — Grandma (Mother's Side) — 81 — Retired Painter — 10/10 — Friendly, Kind, Caring, Loving — Even though she has two grandmas from both sides of the family she loves both of them because she gets extra presents and extra money when it comes to her birthday.

                                        
— Arthur Moon — Grandpa (Mother's Side) — 85 — Retired Painter — 10/10 — Friendly, Kind, Caring, Loving — Everytime her grandpa comes round their house, Leslie would run up to him and give a welcome hug. Atrthur always talks about when he was a painter to both of the girls and how he met grandma too. Arthur is that person whose always friendly and kind to people as well as loving to his wife and family and caring as well.

                                       
— Bella Moon — Grandpa (Mother's Side) — 79 — Retired Model, Actress — 10/10 — Funny, Clever, Samrt — When Bella got sick the family had to move back to Canada except for Leslie's older sister Evelyn who was at the adult age at the time. The fsamily werre really worried about Bella especially her dad since it's his mum. Bella is now a retired model and actress, she's been in many dramas and movies when she was young as well as being a former Miss Universe Titleholder. Leslie's other role models are basically her whole family.

                                       

— cignature — Former Group — 18-20 — Girl Group — 9/10 — Various — She was really close friends with all the members of the group, when she's on variety shows she likes to make the members laugh. When she was with the group she was the most talkative and funny person of the group. Her group mates were all friendly especially Jeewon who was leader who is always there for you when you need support. When Leslie left the group she was pretty much upset about it because she want to continue being part of cignature because of their concepts while being upset about it her group mates felt a bit upset too they felt like they were missing 3 pieces of a puzzle with Ye Ah and Sunn also leaving the group the same day that Leslie left the group.

                                       

— Keum — Close Friend — 20 — Idol — 10/10 — Caring, Sociable, Talkative — Whilst training at C9 Entertainment she and Keum started training at the same time. He was polite and socaible as awell as kind to her. When the C9 trainees at evaluation she passed her evaluation before Keum did and she debuted in their newest girl group "cignature". Keum was happy that she debuted and he had to continue his training. In 2019 Keum was on the survival show Produce X 101 where his final ranking was 17th, she was quite upset that Keum didn't make it into the final lineup of X1. During the time of being a member of cignature the group made a 2nd comeback "Assa" and their 3rd comeback later that year called "Arisong", but in 2021 she had left the group alongside Ye Ah and Sunn. She had told Keum that she wouldnt be under C9 Entertainment anymore and he was quite upset but happy that she wanted to go to another company.

— Leslie legally changed her name because of being made fun of for it growing up and then, the last straw really, was that she got a lot of hate after debuting. (she was apperantly “stealing the name” and “couldn’t have that name”, and a lot of people apparently “just found it really confusing”)
— Her best childhood memory from South Korea is helping her grandmother (fathers side) make kimchi.
— Leslie has a slight lisp, and because of it she struggles with pronouncing the Korean letter “siot” (ㅅ).
— They love dinosaurs and collects everything related to them.
— Leslie loves to paint on literally anything and everything, especially if its not “meant” for it to be painted on.
— She can play the piano and the bass, and to some extent also drums and guitar (both acoustic and electric, but she’s not that good at it).
— Leslie was a contestant on MNET’s Produce 48. She ranked 60 in the 5th episode and was eliminated.
— It’s suspected that Leslie has ADHD, but because of the long waiting times she was never able to get properly diagnosed which is really annoying.
— Leslie hates in-ear headphones, she says it’s because they’re so uncomfortable.
— Their dorm room is filled with bookshelves that all are filled to the brim with books, sketchpads/notebooks, journals and albums. Nearly everything on those shelves, except the albums, are heavily painted on.
— Her role model is SHINee.
— Their least favourite food is warm tomatoes.
— She can imitate Gollum from Lord Of The Rings.
— Leslie is close friends with Kuem from EPEX, they first became friends when Leslie joined C9 Entertainment and stayed in close contact after she left the group and the compny. She’s stated before that she voted for him (and forced everyone she knew) to vote for him and the other C9 trainees in Produce 101 X 101.
