Personality. 

Liling doesn’t waste time asking others for things she can do herself. The opposite of lazy, Lillie has always learnt to take care of herself, therefore doesn’t find difficulty in the more solo tasks of life. in a way, being independent gives liling the happiness of knowing that she’s achieved all that she has on her own. Sometimes this can make her less of a team player but she’s adjusting to working with a group and isn’t opposed to the idea. New people, new opportunies. The only thing she will dislike is if people do things for her, or act as if she’s incapable. That’s what ticks her off. Everything Lillie does is with determination and passion. She takes her interests to heart and absolutely loves proving herself to the world. People sometimes think of her as “just a visual” therefore liling loves challenging the idea and knows her worth. This shines through when she’s performing; this may be why she has such a big stage presence, because she puts her all into it. This may lead to overworking herself because Lillie feels the excessive need to have to devote her life and soul into this occupation to be worthy enough. Somehow she always knows what to say. It’s no secret that liling is the smartest of the group, both with games and remarks. She’s polite, but can also take a joke and respond in the same manner. Her duality comes when it’s between seriousness and humour though her shyness does prevent her being a joker. Her smarts are her moral compass and she can often tell the difference between right and wrong, leading hand in hand with her independence. Sometimes she has to bite back a sassy remark when her temper is being tested.

Despite her stage presence, when you get to know Liling she is actually the type to bury her feelings deep down. Perhaps because she feels like they’re less valid, or because she doesn’t want the complications that come with expressing them. Even if her patience is being tested, somehow Lillie finds it in herself to stay calm. The only person she can really express it with is Wei, and even then she struggles. Rarely, but sometimes, Lillie snaps and full on breaks down in sadness or anger, and she will avoid human contact for days afterwards before regaining her same reserved nature. Lillie is an AMAZING liar. Her poker face is incredible and she can always manage to pull off different pranks or secret things. On the other hand. Llili is also great at hiding stuff. Yes, perhaps she is a tad on the dishonest side, but also she won’t hesitate to keep things from people if she doesn’t want them revealed. She’s secretive and dislikes revealing much about herself unless extremely close to the person - maybe this brings off a mysterious image about her?. I guess because of her own tendency to hide feelings Liling doesn’t exactly consider others’ feelings. Of course she doesn’t cross barriers and knows common respect but usually doesn’t realise if she’s said something that may upset them. This usually ends up with a disagreement only because of her own insensitivity. With some people explaining this to her, she’s trying to work on it but still struggles; in her thoughts ‘if it doesn’t upset me why does it upset them?’.

Background.

Xia Liling was firstly born in chengdu, china to her mother Zheng Minzhu and her father Xia Mengyao. she wasn’t expected at all; a complete accident. in fact, her father was actually married to another woman but was, i suppose, cheating on her. After Minzhu announced her pregnancy, Mengyao chose to help raise liling and left his Mrs. Minzhu herself wasn’t particularly fond of the idea of having a small child running about the house but knew she’d become a mother at some point. meng, on the other hand, was overjoyed. He was in his late 20s and was itching to start a family, just didn’t expect it to be with a summer fling. eventually it was clear though, that it wasn’t all for nothing. they genuinely loved eachother, as they would love Lillie. Mengyao worked as a college professor, specialising in law studies. Minzhu, on the other hand, worked as a fashion designer for a small company who aspired to grow big. Maybe that’s where Liling got her love for fashion from. The second pregnancy started when Liling was only one, and they’d mistaken it for a singular child when it turned out to be twins; Xia Guo and Xia Cuifen (a little girl and a little boy). One years old being a young age, it would be hard to tell if Lillie was excited by the news or not. She most likely didn’t really understand at the time, but didn’t end up screaming in despair so we’ll take that as a tolerance for them. Both Mengyao and Minzhu struggled to juggle work and childcare so Minzhu quit her job and stayed at home for a living. Of course Liling loved the fact that she had the opportunity of 24/7 attention but she was very much a father’s girl and always waited at the door until the same time he’d arrive home.

It was at the age of three that they made the decision to move to korea. I suppose her parents decided Chengdu wasn’t the environment they wanted to raise their own family in, and instead they came across the opportunity of both good working hours and a good house they could afford. Let’s be honest, Lili wasn’t the brightest toddler, and didn’t even consider the fact that she’d never see this home again. Being told that there’d be a new adventure was all that sold the idea to Liling. Within months, they eventually moved. Mengyao was around 50% fluent in Korean but the rest of his brood were…incapable. Liling had only just learnt part of the Chinese language, let alone a whole new tongue. The twins learning were easier since they hadn’t even gotten the chance to learn Chinese. Primary school started when Lili was around 5. She was generally grasping Korean but still struggled with elements, so was delighted when she befriended a young boy called Weimin, or just Wei. He too was Chinese, but grew up in Korea knowing both languages. Together, only young to still learning the concept of friendship, they helped eachother with school, Wei often correcting and translating for Liling when she was unsure of her Korean. When it came to learning, Liling was the type of child to be a complete chatterbox. Yes, she was pretty average in learning but honestly, her extrovertedness was no joke. The language barrier didn’t stop her!

Despite loving her mother to bits, Liling would find herself getting pretty bored around the house. So many times she’d beg her parents to let her go to football practice with weimin or start ANY new club, but they’d refuse. She wouldn’t budge and kept going on and on until they finally caved in. Football was pretty much ruled out, however, since the team her best friend was in was an all-boys-team. Instead, she was torn between netball and singing. At first she chose netball but was then allowed to do both - netball was her speciality and she grew to be extremely talented at the sport. her rap development was slow but became her favorite out of the two. At the age of 10, this was when her mother grew sick. Nobody knew what it really was, but it was spreading fast and Minzhu was deteriorating rapidly. People really thought the woman would die - it got to the point where she was confined into hospital. With her younger siblings and father with her mother, Liling’s only really support system was Weimin. This was what brought them much closer and they pretty much had the sibling closeness. Lili would vent to him about her worries, and he’d comfort her in return. Minzhu’s survival was a huge miracle in Lili’s life. She was left being paralysed from the waist down and having to require the use of a wheelchair, but they were all so thankful that she survived. Middle school was a breeze. Nothing significant really happened. Weimin and Liling remained the troublesome two, the two peas in a pod. They were inseparable. Of course, there was the middle school drama - “omg, do you reckon they’re dating?” but it was never true. Liling began taking rapping more seriously as she recognised her passion and love for it. One evening when hanging out at the park, both weimin and Liling thought of the idea of starting a youtube channel. this was solely for the purpose of being popular and cool at school (teenage things i guess), and so they went ahead with it. They named it “Lilmin’. On it, they’d post the most random content. Most was just vlogging their day, or posting singing covers. It gave them happiness, and they had a whole lotta fun making the videos though.

In 2017, Liling and Weimin both came across Stray Kids. Proud predebut stans!! Half of their chitchat would be Lili fawning over them and Weimin rolling his eyes and gagging. Typical friendships. They started to gather fame on social media for their covers and funny vlogs as a duo, and growing up they stuck by one anothers side and made each other happy. They’re still best friends to this day - he’s her biggest fan. Liling graduated high school with high grades since she’d decided to focus on school work more serious throughout high school. To be fair, she had no idea what she wanted to do after school so signed up for a few colleges in hopes of doing fashion courses but with little expectation. Though all grown up, she continued to post on the lilmin channel. when she was seventeen, Lilling lived in a dorm with some of the girl trainees from DAL Media and felt like she was independent but had other trainees there to look after her. She loved her family to bits, but they couldn’t tie her down anymore. With her little over three years of training, Lili has finally been announced for the lineup of Eclipse; a group which she already knows she’ll strive in.

Trivia.

- Lillie is one of the most active on their group TikTok account, mainly because she posts many outfit of the days. sometimes just posts videos of her trying out filters too.
- Some of the dating rumours she’s had were with Itzy' Chaeryeong and TXT' Beomgyu since Lillie had met up with them both individually as friends and people assumed they had been dates.
- Her idol inspiration is Stray Kids' Bang Chan. She wants to be as easygoing and as sweet as him but struggles to be so.
- Liling is actually a huge softie. She says that she sleeps with a fluffy blanket and a bunch of stuffed teddies and isn’t embarrassed to say so.
- A few years ago lili suffered from severe sleep paralysis and it lasted for years before the help she got for it actually worked. She still gets anxious and was traumatised by the events and will sometimes sleep next to her members because she’s so terrified.
- Lillie hasn’t got an official English name but says it would be Lillie Rose Xia.
- She owns an axolotl named Cherry. There is literally no meaning behind the name, she just thought the name suited the creature. Cherry is like her lifeline - if someone insults Cherry, she insults them.
- At the times where Lillie is forced to play Pokémon with another member, she has decided that Treeko is her favourite Pokémon.
- She actually gets weirdly emotional at movies and books. One of the only times the members have seen Lillie cry was when they were watching Marley and Me.
- Her go to drink is an iced coffee.
- Just to relax lillie will go on nighttime walks whilst listening to music.
- She is allergic to penicillin.
- Though not as much as a gamer thanother members, Lili enjoys playing Animal Crossing and Legend of Zelda. Sometimes she plays Mario Kart with the group.
- Lillie has a scar on her upper back from a car crash she was involved in as an older teenager. Luckily it wasn’t too severe.
- Lili loves teasing the fans and flirting with them, sometimes subtly winking at them or sending flirty selfies on instagram.

- Lillie isn’t the best cook but is a pro at baking cheesecake and often bakes it as a surprise for other members.

- Although Lillie hasn’t really discussed her uality, she has hinted that she isn’t really fussed when it comes to gender, causing fans to think she may be panual.

Trainee Life.
She started training when she was 15 and hasn’t given up after moving from China to South Korea. Because of that, she was chosen for the new group. Throughout her training years, she managed to meet almost everyone in the group so she was well liked and fit well with everyone. Her parents didn’t know why she wanted to do this, but supported her, and her grandparents actually were the ones who encouraged her to become a K-Pop. They have been cheering her on since the beginning. Her training days/years weren’t that interesting to be completely honest.
