appearance » Siri is of average height and is pretty enough to be a kpop idol, but nowhere near pretty to be considered a visual or anything like that. She's already had surgery back in Thailand(double eyelids to make her doe eyes bigger, rhinoplasty to make her nose smaller and less flat,), but after becoming a trainee she went under the knife to again (jaw shaving, brow lift, cheek fillers) to make her look appropriate for the job, and she has been dieting constantly ever since coming to Korea in order to maintain a relatively thin figure (not thin enough compared to some of the other members of Pop Girls, at least according to the managers and stylists. But Siri doesn't know what else she can do to lose more weight, she's tried it all).

style » Given a choice, Siri would always opt for a t-shirt and jeans combo, with some comfortable sneakers or boots to top it off. On the occasion she wants to dress more fancily, she'll go for a sleek pair of pants and blouse. She loves dresses and skirts, but thinks she looks very awkward in them and wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them (though wishes she were). Wouldn't step outside the house without eyeliner.

Siriyakorn's upbringing made her a confident girl, because of her wealthy family she never had to think about what to do if she fails, and instead she could focus on what she'll be able to do if she succeeds. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid of getting it, and she knows when she's right and is not afraid of saying it. At the same time, she's also her own worst critic; and she judges herself more harshly than anyone can judge her. She dislikes being wrong, and when she does something wrong or is mistaken, she will ascces the situation solemnly and diligintly, doing her best to fix it as quickly as possible.

 

Siri approaches life through a very logical mindset. She doesn't think being overly emotional, especially when the emotions are negative, will get her anywhere. She will get upset with herself any time she lets anger or fear take over her. Her ability to think with a clear head, rationality and logic help her form a plan on how to improve and get the things she want. Her logic is dominant in all aspects of her life - she is the kind of girl who always makes a list of pros and cons, the kind of girl who always plans everything to the smallest of details, and the kind of girl who always tries to think of the outcome of any situation, plan for it, and then see what she can do to change it for the better.

 

She can be very bossy - Siriyakorn grew up believing things are owed to her because of who she is and because she has a hard-working and dilligent nature. She gives her whole to do the things she wants, and always wants others to give their entire selves into something too. When this doesn't happen, it can lead to conflict - epecially if Siri sees that the other person doesn't care as much as she does. When the problem is with her and not others, she will do all that she can to improve (when she was at schooll she would occasionaly pull all-nighters in order to practice, and end up falling asleep during class), and will get upset with herself if she doesn't improve quickly enough. But despite her bossy nature, she's surprisingly patient with others - if she sees that the other person tries. She will encourage you if she sees effort and accomplishment, but don't expect her to do the same if she thinks you're not putting your whole.

 

Siriyakorn is an attention-seeker. Siri loves hanging out with friends, talking to people, and being around others, and she immediately goes to the center of the room and commands attention, partly because of thinking that she's owed things, partly because it's just who she is and she can't help it. Siri is friendly and sociable in general, and really dislikes being alone. When she's alone she has time to be self-critical and judge herself, and being around others distracts her from it.

 

Partly because of her social nature, Siri is protective of the other members - she may judge them and judge herself, but she thinks that they have enough judging as it is. She shields her friends and those she cares about from criticism and harm - both those who are younger and older than her.

THE Story.

background » Siri grew up in a wealthy family with enough connections to eventually connect her with the kpop industry. Her mother's side in the family owns one of the top 10 biggest resort businesses in the country, and after divorcing from Siri's father when Siri was nine, her mother married a chinese-french music producer who was producing music for entertainment acts all over asia - mainly Thailand, China, and of course South Korea.

 

Siri always loved music and performing. She would always organize concerts for her family and force her sister to sing and dance with her. Her parents signed her for a lot of music-related lessons: piano lessons, guitar lessons, and after a few years to vocal lessons. In school, Siri joined any music-related activity and would perform in talent shows and musicals.

 

After her mother remarried her step-dad, Siriyakorn was introduced to the music industry - her step-dad showed her how music production worked, and told her about how being a singer worked. He also introduced her to a k-pop group he was making a song for: Super Junior. From then on, ten year old Siri was hooked on k-pop.

 

From Super Junior, Siri explored the korean music industry on the internet, and quickly found out about After School, the group she fell in love with. She loved everything about it, the music, the dances, the performances. She loved the variety shows they did, and the photoshoots, and how prettily they dressed and looked. She talked to her step-dad a lot, asked him a lot of questions about the k-pop industry, and realized that if she really wanted to, her step-dad and mom could actually help her get in.

 

Siri decided to wait until she finishes high school in Thailand before pursuing a career in k-pop, as she approached it very logically: if it turned out that she didn't want to do it, it would be better to still have an educational diploma from the private school she was attending. In the meantime, she started studying Korean with private tutors and fell in love with another girl group: Gfriend. She talked to her step-dad and mother about it, and they said they will help her get in. But Siriyakorn had one condition: she wanted to be in the same company as either After School or Gfriend. She knew that After School were inactive, but Gfriend were under Source Music, who was recently merged with Big Hit under Hybe. Her step-dad has produced some songs for Fromis_9 and Seventeen, so he talked to some executives at Hybe and proposed that they take on Siriyakorn as a trainee. In exchange, Siri's mother invested a very large sum of money into Hybe, as well as buying a lot of stock options.

 

So a month after graduating, Siri had an audition for Hybe that everyone knew she will pass, and she became a trainee.

Chintara Papanai - mother, 45

her mother kept her maiden name to perserve the family connections, and all of her children did the same. Siri's mom is very laidback when it comes to raising her children because she never had to worry about their future. She did give them a very good education and talked to them a lot about running a business because one day they will inherit some of the resort business. That's why she is very supporting in each of her children's decisions about what to do in life, and encourages them to do their best.

 

Jirayu Wattanasin - father, 44

her father has his own restaurant in Thailand, and he always cooks Siri delicious food. He's a very kind father to her and her sister, but is still bitter about the divorce and doesn't like her mother, her step-dad, and her step-sister very much, which annoys Siri quite a bit.

 

Sririta Papanai - older sister, 26

Siri's older sister is the only one out of the siblings that actively wants to take over the family business and really enjoys the business aspect. She has a boss lady no-nonsense personality. She doesn't really get why Siri wants to be a singer, but still tries to be supportive because she knows it's important for Siri (their home concerts remind Rita of SIri's passion)

 

Nicole Savika Papanai - younger step-sister, 9

Siri's half-chinese step-sister is really cute, bubbly, but also very spoilt and bossy just like her sister. Nika idolizes Siri and wants to be a singer just like her when she grows up, but she doesn't seem as passionate as Siri, so this will probably pass as she moves on to a new obsession.

 

NewJeans Danielle and Hanni -
Danielle and Hanni are Siri's closest friends in Hybe. They got along really well because they were all foreigners who spoke English and had to get used to Korea. They used to hang out a lot as trainees, and while they are a lot busier after they all debut, they still keep in touch almost daily and try to meet up as much as possible. SIri is sad that she's not in a group with Danielle and Hanni, but at least they're from the same company so it's easier to meet.

After Siri debuts with Pop Girls, she is officially welcomed to the thai idol group. She's younger than the rest of them, but since they're Thai it doesn't matter as much as in Korea. They all support each other and wonder who the next thai idol will be.

VOCAL » singing is Siri's strongest skill. Her vocals aren't the strongest, and she goes from sub to lead vocal, depending on the song and sub-unit. She has a sweet, pleasant voice that isn't very powerful but has control and technique from her experience in Thailand and her training in Korea.

DANCE » Siri would've probably been a better dancer if she didn't break her leg when she was fourteen. She's a pretty average dancer as it is, not overly bad but not good enough to be noticed by anyone. It takes her a bit longer than average to learn choreographies because she has only been dancing professionaly for two years, but all considered she's doing a good job.

sTRENGTHS » first of all, Siri has a real passion for singing and performing, so she really enjoys all of it and puts all of it into her job. She has some composing experience so she can help with producing songs (and she has her step-dad to help her when she needs it). Siri is also very confident, sociable, and outgoing, so she doesn't shy away from cameras and performances, and likes being the center of attention. 

 

WEAKNESSES » dancing isn't Siri's strongest suit, and her vocals are probably not strong enough to carry as a main vocal or a solo right now. Being spoilt and bossy can also lead to some conflict within the group that could be avoided. Being spoilt also means that she's not as good with the living conditions and work as Siri would've liked, even though she tries to look at it rationally.

 

 

 

TRAINEE YEARS » april 2020 - march 2022

 

TRAINING PERIOD » Not everyone knew who Siri's family was, and those who knew didn't realize just how wealthy they were and that Siri was accepted as a trainee because of it. So Siri made enough friends before people realized that she didn't get in all by herself. At that point, she was already liked so no one told her outright that they think it's not fair. Some people don't care and say that Siri deserves her spot and would've been accepted without her connections. Others say that that's not true.

 

During her two years of training, Siri has improved her singing quite a bit, and has learned how to dance and perform professionally. She improved a lot for only two years of training, but as she was out of school and didn't have to worry about money, she could focus only on training and improving so it was easier for her than for other trainees. She still experienced cultural shock about Korea and training, and had to get used to living in a dorm with many other girls, being controlled by other people, and being restricted when it comes to things like diet. Thankfully, she already knew some Korean so she could communicate, but it was nowhere near enough to be able to communicate freely, and SIri had to grow up very quickly and adapt to the new reality.

 

FUTURE ACTIVITIES » Siri wants to focus on music, improve her composing and music production skills, and release solo songs. She also has interest in how things work behind the scenes, not just composition but entertainment production in general.

 

 

SUB GROUPS » When Siri first hears about the Mix unit, she thinks it'll be like After School or Orange Caramel, so she wants to be in that unit the most. When she finds out it's not like that, she'll be very disappointed. Nabi is the unit she wants to be in the least because she thinks it's too basic.
