minji has an outgoing nature, she is humble and friendly. making her easy to be friend with but only if we pass her seemingly cold looking default exterior. the term cold outside and warm inside already sound boring as it is over used among idols and everyone else. but that's still the matter with minji. her outer appearance and her actual personality are far apart.

minji is creative and compasionate, which make her a perfect choice to be added into a kpop group. her creativity run free inside her vein and she rather losing sleep and food to make full use of them. this traits of her work like a double sided sword, it either a blessing for her career or poison as her health deteriotes when she focuses too much on her music production than health.

BACKGROUND ☆ 

minji was born as the eldest daughter of three children in new york city, u.s. she has a younger sister and younger brother. during her childhood till her teen years, the family stay at the city with the father with his comfortable job as a dentist in one of the government hospital. while her mother being the full time housewife. despite his father's job, the family has always been complete and cheery. 

her parent believe that their children should be encouraged to be healthy and able to mix well in a comunity despite their ethnicity. thus she was made to join dance classes including ballet and modern dance. she also enjoyed playing sports and won many swimming awards, she was always more advance in a way. with the constant success, the young eldest started to feel burden and the need to excell even more. 

in 2015, at the age of 15, she passed a local audition in new york for the kpop label yg entertainment. despite her young age, she moved to korea to train at yge. during her time at the company, she made many close friends including the ones who ended up leaving the company and her behind. she trained at yge for 5 years, watching her friends come and go at the same time.

in january 2019, red, magenta, pink and minji got transfered into the black label with short notice. on the same day, they were informed by the management that they would debut within the label with another 4 trainees who were originally under the subsidiary. every cloud really have a silver lining, she thought she had lost her chance being tossed around to an unfamiliar place but ended up debuting in 2020 with her now favorite girls.

WHAT DOES MINJI FELT WHEN THEY GOT TRANSFER TO THE BLACK LABEL ☆ she purses her lips, looking into the high smiling before a small smile made it onto her lips as she remembers the day they got transferred. "i was scared, confused and lost. i think i wouldn't make it not because of the others, magenta, red and little pink. i'm glad that we'd got transferred now, i really am."

"i believe we'd passed the stage and everyone is close to everyone now? why? i-it's not a safe answer, i mean it-" her ears redden with her halfway lie. she's closer to magenta, red and pink but getting closer to sasha, soyoung and purple. she only have a little difficulty with blue for whatever reason it is.

"i never thought of this concept before, i mean, i had but i've never imagined for the black label to instill such concept on their first girlgroup. as everyone know, our label is closely linked to yge, which make people think of 2ne1 and blackpink right away. but maybe that's why they made such decision?" she takes a deep breath. "i wasn't used to our dream-like concept, but i feel like i'm getting a hang of it. thankful to my members who has been helping."

"i produced the songs, the songs are personal and important to me. but i really wouldn't make it without the amazing lyricists and choreographer." she looks around as if trying to gain a permission from certain people before staring into the camera with a soft look. "red made the choreography for the main title 'on the ground', purple and clover had listened to my rants and stories before each of them replaced what i said into beautiful lyrics of 'on the ground' and 'gone'."

if i say 'on the ground' and 'gone' were based on her trainee years when her friends left one by one, or when she have to miss lots of things she could be doing on her teenage age. will this already do all of the explanation? she might not start to train as young as red, neither she be the only one who's away from her family for years. but it was hard for her, it was also fun filled, depending on each situation. either way, her training years aren't the most unique but the memories will stay forever.
