bckground. G.Nee' parents moved to Canada a few years before their daughter was born, her mother being the CEO of a fashion company, while her father being an author. Iseul was born and raised in Toronto, Canada with her younger sister Haneul. Iseul loved to try out new things, and she fell in love with ballet after seeing a performance her mother took her to. While learning ballet, her mother wanted Iseul to know more things too, so she soon started her piano and singing classes, taking away all her free time. By the time she was 14, Iseul got tired of dancing and singing, until she saw a Girls' Generation performance somewhere and fell in love with kpop. G.Nee then spent her days practicing in secret and skipping her ballet and singing lessons, until her mother found out.

At first, she opposed her daughters' idea of being a kpop idol, but in 2014, she let her daughter audition for different companies and move to Korea. G.Nee at first got accepted into Source Music, where she trained for three years and was a back-up dancer for GFriend at times for their concerts or music shows but since she felt like she was just wasting her time she had left the company in late 2017. In mid-2018 G.Nee auditioned for a newly founded company, HYBE also was known as Big Hit. G.Nee got accepted into the company, being one of the first members to join the agency. She met the current members, and decided she wanted to debut with them.

trainee & idol life. 

— G.Nee at first was a trainee in Source Music for two years, but she felt like she's just wasting her time, so she decided to audition for another company. It was a new company, HYBE, but G.Nee give it a shot and in 2018, she joined HYBE, leaving Source Music behind. She trained for almost 5 years. While she was a trainee at Source Music, she used to be a backup dancer for GFriend. During her time at HYBE she had made appearances in some BTS music videos such as "On". During the time of her debut with PHOENIX her idol life was hard but she kept it going with her confidence and hard-working of a rapper and dancer. — The Saesang Scandal — PHOENIX was at the airport ready to depart for their world tour, the airport was full of sasaeng and "fans", PHOENIX barely had space to walk and G.Nee felt suffocated since she's afraid of little spaces. When her sasaeng pushed a camera in her face, she slapped it out of his hand, out of reflex. The people around her stopped and she said "leave me alone already", her bodyguards took action and quickly got her out of there. The fans and netizens opinion were half-half, one sided with the sasaeng, the other with Iseul. She was called rude and aggressive when news got out of her destroying a fans' camera, until Iseul personally addressed the matter and explained that she's claustrophobic and how that sasaeng has been following her for a while. The scandal died down afterwards, the company even warned the fans to not approach their artist at the airports again.
— The Dating Scandal — It was later in her career in Mid-2024 when news broke out of her dating ATEEZ member Seonghwa. PHOENIX fans supported their relationship, Deobis' opinions were either good or bad. A lot of people wanted them to break up, but G.Nee literally said NO, and they left them alone.

— Seonghwa is a very parental type of member of this group. Though he seems charismatic on stage, he is kind of goofy and clumsy. He is creative and talented. He is a very neat and clean type of person. He often says that he always clean the room and tells Hongjoong to keep the room tidy. Atinys often call him the ‘mom' of this group as he cares and supports the members all the time. He has a soft heart with a charming personality.

— G.Nee met Seonghwa in the most unexpected place: ATEEZ waiting room at MAMA 2022. They are both big groups, so both groups got big waiting rooms, and G.Nee being her usual self, walked into the wrong room, while watching her phone and just saying "unnie you were right, they really can't sing live" and when she got no response did she finally look up. A few seconds of awkward silence as she made eye contact with Seonghwa, who was the only person in the room. Seonghwa just suddenly laughed at her and G.Nee tried to explain that she mistook the room, but ended up laughing as well. She actually got herself into a good conversation after Seonghwa asked which group can't sing live. They became buddies after she got his number.
