FULL NAME yeon paran.
NICKNAME(S)
yonsei's it boy. it's a pun on his status as a popular ulzzang and his major, which will lead him to IT jobs. this is almost like his persona amongst the students, as paran is undeniably good-looking and popular amongst women—even though most of the time he just keeps to himself and hangs out with his small social circle of guys his age.

prince charming. short explanation: he looks like one, he acts like one effortlessly. long explanation: it's mostly used in ballet environment, and used gradually more often as he grows older. if paran is qualified to teach ballet to young kids, he's definitely a great dancer; and the myunghwi creative director would agree in a heartbeat. what a shame his sister wouldn't let him perform, because he has that something to become the next danseur noble.

umchinah (엄친아). since paran teaches the ballet extracurricular at an elementary school, paran often interacts with children and their parents. his polite manners and patience in teaching kids, along with his ethereal beauty earned this nickname amongst mothers of his students. believe it or not, some of them actually tried to get paran to date their older daughters!

dongsung prince. he shares this nickname with his high school best friends, jiwoong and geon. ever heard of the meme saying that you've never seen two pretty best friends? well, now you have three! if it's just "dongsung prince," people (especially girls from neighbouring schools) can refer to any of them, but if it's "dongsung prince charming" then they most likely are referring to paran, the boy who's often seen dancing when he thinks he's alone on the streets.

yeonparang (연파랑). his first name means "blue," and with his surname it means "light blue." however, it is grammatically wrong. yeonparan is an adjective and needs a noun in order for it to work, so others liked to joke about correcting his name to yeonparang so that it'll become a standalone noun. please, this joke is getting old. paran has heard it for the past nineteen years of his life. stop.

DATE OF BIRTH january 9, 2002.
AGE 19 (20).
BIRTHPLACE jongno-gu, seoul, sk.
HOMETOWN jongno-gu, seoul, sk.

ETHNICITY korean.
NATIONALITY south korean.

PRONOUNS he/him.
ORIENTATION demiromantic; he still doesn't know his gender preferences. may be biual.

LANGUAGES SPOKEN
native korean. mother tongue, speaks with a clean seoulite dialect and formally most of the time. 100%.

advanced english. learned all throughout school and from both his parents and uncle, but nowhere are good as his sister. he has excellent grammar and vocabulary, but still has a noticeable accent. as he learned english from various sources, he mixes vocabularies from american and british english and sometimes even popping up an australian accent once in a blue moon. 80%.

OCCUPATION
student @ yonsei university.   currently a freshman as of 2021, majoring in computer science and industrial engineering. definitely not a professor favourite because he doesn't know what's going on most of the time.

ballet instructor.   teaching on seoul hyoje elementary school with an older female teacher and myunghwi arts foundation under the supervision of (insert name here), a senior ballet instructor. because of his patience and smaller with his students, paran is a fan favourite.

freelance model.   he doesn't really consider it a job because he only gets gigs from design majors and photography club students, which he does for an affordable price. however, he still earns decent enough to add to his allowance.

FACECLAIM enhypen's sunghoon.
BACKUP nct's sungchan.

APPEARANCE sunghoon during drunk-dazed era. even without knowing paran's ballet background, he already gives off the aura of a noble prince; and those who knew about paran's ballet background, will wonder why he isn't a danseur noble yet. while boreum looks more like their dad, paran is straight out a carbon copy of their mum. she too, was an ethereal beauty at her time—so it's no surprise that paran is just the same. thanks to his looks, paran often gets offered idol and modeling contracts by kpop agencies—but no thanks, paran doesn't have the social battery for such a job. instead, he does freelance modeling independently for an affordable price, mostly for design student assignments.

he currently has no tattoos and piercings, but may get his earlobes pierced later on. he also does not wear glasses or contacts despite needing minor vision corrections. contrary to popular beliefs, paran's skin isn't perfect due to irregular sleeping schedules and occasionally skipping his (already simple) skincare routine due to fatigue. like most people out there, he has acne and dark circles, but wears basic makeup like complexion and lip tint when he's going out.

MEASUREMENTS 179 cm + 61 kg.

FASHION STYLE paran's style is very basic, simplistic, and easily recreated. he doesn't accessorise much and would rather put on layers to emphasize his tall frame; preferring dress pants over jeans, blazers over hoodies, and neutral colours over bright tones. even though he dresses like any other cute guy you'd see in the streets of hongdae, there's just that something in paran that makes him stand out although he's just slightly above average in height.

paran is a young flamboyant natural with classic essence, so he doesn't get drowned in long lines despite not being extremely tall. during the winter, he likes to wear long chunky coats to keep him warm, and can wear long sleeves even during the summer due to his naturally cooler body temperature. paran rarely wears hoodies outside, but he likes wearing them to sleep along with a pair of sweatpants. it's extremely rare to see him wear shorts when he's not going to the beach, especially because the dormitories are air-conditioned.

there's almost no difference in paran's outfits to the gym and to sleep, the only difference being the more expensive or sweat-absorbent materials that he wears to exercise. when he's practicing ballet, however, he prefers wearing one of his t-shirts and a pair of tighter pants to go with his pointe shoes, which are always black.

although paran always has at least five pairs of pointe shoes as backups, it seems like he only owns two pairs of different shoes: white sneakers and black pointe shoes. truthfully, he owns quite a lot. the sneakers that he wears to campus and hangouts are a different pair than the one he wears to the gym, and he also owns a pair of black dress shoes for formal events, that he rarely ever wears.

looking at paran from a distance, it’s easy to tell that he came from a prestigious background. perfect posture and manners, a gentle voice that only speaks up when needed to—no wonder why he’s really adored by old ladies. paran is generally reserved, preferring to stay alone or with his small social circle than meeting new people, although his curiosity often leads him to social events full of like-minded strangers, where he often has no problem fitting into conversations. especially during this euphoric phase of adapting to his newfound freedom and environment, paran wants to step out of his comfort zone as much as possible.

although at first glance paran looks like he grew up with a lot of privilege, he really didn't. to him, growing up with parents and a functional family would've been the luxury that he never got to experience, let alone having a support system that has his back at all costs. paran doesn't show much emotions especially towards strangers, but he's the type to give more than he receives. he's secretly really sensitive and sweet, a soft target for guilt tripping and gaslighting; that is if they get past paran's social awkwardness. he's not the type to tell people about himself unless directly asked, but he has no problem talking about his interests for hours on and on.

speaking of interests, paran is someone who's always looking to learn a lot of new things and drop them immediately if he feels like it's not really his thing. in the end, he'll always come back to his first love—performing arts. the beauty of ballet as the dance that connects the earth and the sky is what made him fall in love, even when his family is against him pursuing it as a career. paran is fully aware that a performer's career can only last so long, but that's exactly why he wants to enjoy it while he can. we never know when we're going to die, so live your lives to the fullest—that's a quote that paran goes by.

he's quite the good example of how manic pixie dream girl tropes do exist in real life, although he's definitely not a girl. as jiwoong once said, this is paran's world and we're all just living in it. despite all the hardships that paran has gone through, he maintains a solid ground: karma is real, so it's better to stay quiet if we have nothing nice to say. that's the strongest remnant of his parents' teachings that still exists in paran today, and it's evident because he's widely adored not only because of his looks, but also his attitude. he's either the type of guy that you want to introduce to your parents, or one that could get away with burning the school down just with one smile—depending on your perspective. though, paran is often described as someone lost in his own world (as jiwoong once said), especially when he's alone. the amount of times he got caught off-guard and practicing arabesques in the alleyways when he thought nobody's looking, but some neighbours are watching from the balconies—yeah, this is paran's world and we're just living in it.

it's really easy to tell that paran is really shy and easily flustered, especially by compliments. praises are often thrown at him during photoshoots, and while he's pretty used to that, sometimes people just come straight at him just to tell that he's gorgeous. and how does he respond to that? he doesn't know! if it's kids under the age of 10, he can just thank them and smile politely, but from guys and girls his age? most of the time, he just turns red and goes into a panic while jiwoong explains the situation to whoever complimented him. no one actually knows if it's social anxiety or just his nature as a true introvert, even paran himself. he believes he's just naturally like this; he's just not the type to speak much unless needed to, so he can't come up with words on the spot.

but now that paran is on his own, he found himself venturing out of his comfort zone to meet new people and make new friends. after all, he can't rely on jiwoong and geon forever. he’s aware that as much as he’s comfortable with his own mellow personality, the world is run by people who favour extroverts and he just has to force himself to adapt if he wants to advance in life. theoretically, he knows what he needs to do to step forward, but finds himself being entangled in obstacles from not being able to separate between what he loves, what the world needs, what he’s skilled in doing, and what makes money. ideally it should’ve been the intersection of those four things, but paran thought he could find happiness even if he separates between his passion and his duties. he wasn’t; and he would admit that he’s neither book smart or street smart in this aspect. he’s just paran, a naive young boy who has experienced the bitter notes of life, but not bitter enough to teach him important lessons about adulthood. in some type of way, even when paran is well into his adulthood later on, his heart and mind remained forever young—in a sense that he won’t hesitate to share his love and passion for the arts with other people, especially children.

his patience is what makes paran a good teacher despite his young age, and that comes from his background. although he's really well loved by people around him, paran has never been spoiled. oftentimes he had to wait some time until he can afford his favourite toys, and even longer until he could spend time with his only remaining family member, his sister. and when his sister came back to korea, she's not in the condition to play and dance with paran like she used to. however, family is incredibly precious to him and she knows that boreum's intentions are good despite resenting her actions. each day he patiently tended her and tried his best to make her feel better, all while keeping her now ex-boyfriend away before their relationship could turn toxic. although his parents' passing taught him a lesson about how he'll be the only person able to save himself in the toughest times, paran tries his best to always lend a helping hand to his loved ones.

unfortunately, paran's tendency to wear his heart on his sleeves is also his main weakness. he had always been surrounded by good people all his life, so he never had to worry about meeting others with cruel intentions—but unfortunately, the world is too harsh for pure souls like him. he has trouble holding his own ground and saying "no" to requests, which ultimately will lead to him having burnouts, and that's only the best case scenario. back then he had jiwoong and geon who would kindly say no in paran's place, but he's on his own now. whether he likes it or not, he has to hold on to his principles tightly if he doesn't want to get taken advantage of.

BACKGROUND
paran and boreum's parents always wanted to have a little family of their own, but unfortunately for them it's easier said than done. boreum was born quite late into their lives at 36 years old each, and that's after going through many trials, errors, and tears shed due to lost souls before getting the chance to see earth. but once boreum was born, everything felt much better—like sunshine and rainbows after a storm. yeon myungho and lee boram spent another twelve years trying to conceive another child, almost giving up—but in the end, they had yeon paran. named after the blue sky on a winter day that he was born in.

throughout the years they were trying to have paran, boram suffered many health complications in relation to her fertility and chances of her surviving paran's birth was almost non-existent, for she had him very shortly before menopause. for this reason, all four of them are extremely tight-knit despite the generation gap, sharing their mutual love of music and performing arts. really, despite often being mistaken as his grandparents by strangers, myungho and boram are the best parents that paran could even ask for. they never compared paran and boreum, let alone with other kids, and there was no pressure to be the best in anything. as long as they both display good manners and attitude, that's good enough for their parents.

their parents being the founders of myunghwi arts foundation really meant a lot to both boreum and paran, trips to the place are something frequent in their lives but it never gets boring. pretty much ever since paran learned how to walk and talk, they've taken him to countless trips whether for surveillance purposes where he could just go around admiring the architecture, but his favourites are orchestras and ballet recitals. for some reason, he's just drawn into the ethereal beauty of classical music and fluidity of the dancers—it's like seeing fairy tales come to life, especially watching his own sister do it.

although boreum and paran aren't super close due to their , paran always looked up to her like a younger sibling’s adoration towards their overachieving older sibling. he found it quite the bummer that boreum rarely came home, but he always welcomed her with open arms whenever they meet at the airport. though sometimes paran would act like a heathen, boreum wouldn’t have it any other way. ever since paran was born, it almost seemed like her life became more colourful with an admirer, a jokester, and most of all—a sibling to come home to. at least boreum got to taste the happiness for a little longer despite being far from home; a privilege that paran doesn't have.

paran was only five years old when he lost both of his parents and had to be taken under the care of yeon kyungsan, his dad's only sibling. throughout those years, paran's family from both his mother and father's sides pitch in money to fund myunghwi's activities and take turns managing the building until the time comes for boreum to claim her rightful ownership. in the meantime, young paran balanced his activities as a student and training to become a ballet dancer in korea, making sure to visit myunghwi regularly as a tribute to his parents.

kyungsan was a good uncle, and he played his role as paran's guardian very well—but he's not myungho, let alone boram., but he’s not myungho—let alone boram. oftentimes he had to deal with paran’s mood drops in relation to missing his parents and sister, and suddenly being a single dad isn’t good for his mental health as well. however, paran and boreum are incredibly precious to both myungho and boram, so he held on tight. he can’t them up, or he will never be able to forgive himself for ruining the children of yeon myungho and lee boram—well, only paran. boreum had almost come of age when their parents passed away, but paran was a child. he’s the one who needs lots of love and care, especially with the fact that he’ll grow up and spend puberty without his parents.

that’s the main reason why kyungsan always lets paran do whatever he wants, as long as it won’t harm him or his future. he’s always been the little oddball who preferred art nouveau over cybercore; classical over hip-hop; and the arts over sports. it just runs in the family, kyungsan reckoned. he also remembered being called a for going to violin classes rather than playing football with the boys, and paran isn’t much different—except he’s got a lot more privilege as the son of myunghwi art foundation’s owner. everyone in his ballet class knew who his parents were, and treated him well for that reason. not because they want to kiss , but some of them exactly knew how hard it is to lose both parents at such a young age. somehow they just knew that paran has a bright future ahead of him, evident by young paran’s ambition to make his own name as a dancer someday.

eventually, paran kind of got used to it. he sometimes still cries himself to sleep from missing his parents, even though he knew that’s not going to bring them back. kyungsan also became accustomed to his new role as paran’s legal guardian—even though he will never legally adopt paran as his son out of respect for his deceased brother. it’s just the two of them together now, and paran considered kyungsan a pretty good role model. after all, kyungsan and myungho were raised by the same people and shared a lot of common characteristics despite going to entirely different career choices. he was there for paran during the most awkward times of puberty, helped him with homework and so on—but they both made it clear that while kyungsan is paran’s father figure now, he’s not paran’s dad. they’re pretty close, but that’s it—they don’t share the same bond as paran did with myungho.

as for boreum, she rarely visited korea now that she’s busy pursuing a career in europe, but kyungsan made sure that she and paran kept in touch. after all, it’s just the two of them now—and boram often told the both of them that they’ll only have each other if she and myungho pass on, and she’s completely right. although boreum and paran don't have many common interests other than ballet and classical music, their personalities at least click well together. he's a sweet younger brother who always rooted for her and wrote encouraging words, sent pictures of cute puppies he met at the park, told her everything about what uncle kyungsan cooked for dinner that day—so boreum kind of felt at ease. she's focusing on her career mostly, but paran to her is that one support system that she trusts, will never leave her side no matter what.

well… until boreum's career crumbled down in one second.

paran swore he almost had a heart attack when he saw topics regarding boreum's traumatic fall all over social media. two meters… that's almost as high as the ceiling of paran's room, and she fell from that height and fractured some bones. paran was frantic, he tried calling boreum's number although he knew the phone billing would be insanely expensive with calls from south korea to the united kingdom; even begging kyungsan to buy plane tickets even though flights to london are long, pricey, and need a lot of preparation.

at last, he can breathe a little easier when one of boreum's friends informed that she's doing alright despite of the injuries. at least she survived—may take a while to recover, but she's still here. not too long after boreum regained consciousness after the surgeries, she came home to korea with her then-boyfriend with a funky korean name—eutteum? paran didn't quite remember much about him aside of having a rather interesting first name, but there's that. while eutteum stayed in his apartment during the times, while boreum and paran stayed with kyungsan.

every day, eutteum came over to take care of boreum, making sure she doesn't skip meals and medications. but as time went by, paran noticed that eutteum grew tired of the routine—"it's like the boreum i knew and loved is entirely gone"—if eyes could speak, paran's sure that those exact words are what eutteum would say. as much as he hated to admit, he's heard some shoutings come from boreum's room; that's the last thing that his sister needed, so paran had to step up. he may be a small teenager, but he has conscience and that's the first step he'll take to keep eutteum away from boreum.

it started from naughty little things like purposely locking eutteum out of the house for hours and pretending to be asleep while he and boreum watched cartoons while getting their favourite chocolate drinks—for boreum it's just straight out hot cocoa with milk and sugar, but paran likes it with mint. the little differences that set boreum and paran apart, and then there's the big ones—

"no."

paran was baffled at boreum's reaction to him showing that he scored his first big role on a ballet show; puck from a midsummer night's dream, he got it as a fourteen-year-old. throughout the nine years he's been practicing as a ballerino, he's only performed in corps de ballet and other small roles for children. this could've been his debut in a more significant role and on a larger venue, so she should've been proud of his progress, right?

of course, paran disagreed with what boreum said and continued training for his debut. he personally knew some former classmates who were training to become kpop idols and were excited to finally debut even if they're under a small company—and now, he finally understood what's the big deal. it's his first step towards making his own name and it might affect him for a lifetime, so he won't let his sister's objection go in his way. he thought it'd be good for boreum if he can prove that he does well, and he can be careful enough not to end with the same traumas that she did.

but for boreum, it's too early and hits too close to home. of course, it went over paran's head that his sister needed some time to pick herself up from an accident whilst doing something she loved the most—he's just a kid, after all. although her psychiatrist did recommend her to slowly approach ballet in order to recover from her psychological trauma, this isn't the time for her. seeing paran wear his black pointe shoes and occasionally trip while practicing his jumps at home really triggered those memories for her; she kept asking him to stop, but paran is too eager. it's only getting closer to the day of the show, and he can't slack off because at any time, he could get replaced if he showed no improvement in embodying his role.

paran often came home late because of practice, but something totally went out of his expectations when he came home the next time. all five pairs of pointe shoes he has—all torn up, broken, and completely unusable. one pair already costs a decent sum, even paran had to skip lunch for weeks in order to save up, and now his hard work is all gone. no, he can't just borrow his friend's shoes—even if they wear the same size, each dancer's feet have their own unique contour and preferences. if the tips are too hard, it'll hurt the dancer's feet; if it's too soft, the dancer won't be able to stand on the tip of their toes properly. what's too hard for paran may be just right for his friend, and that's what makes it difficult.

"i told you to stop! please, just respect my wishes for once and let me recover in peace!"
"what, just because you stopped that means i have to stop, too?"
"paran, listen-"
"yeah, screw that! i didn't even get to live with mum and dad for as long as you did. are you going to take ballet away from me, too?!"

paran can't just ask kyungsan for a new pair of pointe shoes to keep the show going, since he already spent most of his earnings on the restaurant upkeep and boreum's treatment. so, even if paran wanted to go on and rebel against boreum, he couldn't because without his shoes, he couldn't practice; only less than seven weeks before the show, and it takes him at least three weeks to save up for one pair; and that doesn't guarantee that it won't be broken just before the show. he had no choice but to withdraw from the cast, and let someone else take his place.

the next few weeks had been miserable for paran, and he hated going home. sometimes he spent a little too much time studying in the library until he's burnt out, or went out with his friends to play arcade games and basketball—anything he did to stay out for as long as possible. gaming is something he's been enjoying lately, although he kept it to a reasonable amount during exam seasons so that his grades don't flunk. really, throughout paran's years as a student, he's been really lucky to be surrounded by good friends who help each other study and stay out of trouble.

noticing how paran started to spend less and less time home and came home really late as a minor, kyungsan and boreum grew worried for him. even though paran is a good kid in general, they're well aware that this is just the start of his teenage rebellion. in the end, they gave him some compensation: he can keep doing ballet, but he shouldn't pursue it as his lifelong career, and performing in larger venues with heighted stages are off limits. paran thought boreum was ridiculous and paranoid, but he reluctantly accepted. it was either this or nothing at all, and certainly this is better than nothing although far from ideal.

after months of not showing up in myunghwi at all, paran returned to practice ballet although his desire to perform seemed to have gone away. what happened to the son of yeon myungho and lee boram and his ambition of making myunghwi known globally? it's not like the yeon paran that they knew, at all. however, looking on to the bright side, paran took it as an opportunity to strengthen his basics so that he can share his years of experience to young aspiring ballerinas. therefore, instead of practicing for specific roles like most of his peers, paran changed direction into practicing general movements and teaching methods so that he can become a teacher. but really, it's only boreum's tactics to keep paran out of the stage so that he doesn't experience what she had to.

little by little, paran caught up with his peers on what he had missed during his break. now with boreum as the owner of myunghwi, there isn't much room for paran to wriggle out of the circle that confined him; and as much as he wanted to, he knew he shouldn't—at least for now. his relationship with boreum still wasn't exactly good, and he absolutely despised it when his friends try to pry about their personal lives. they somehow knew boreum is involved in paran's seemingly lack of ambition; they can see the jealousy in paran's eyes whenever his friends practice for plays like romeo and juliet, cinderella, and darned mightsummer night's dream.

it could've been him if the traumatic fall never happened, and he could've been named as south korea's future danseur noble by now.

even without much experience as a performing ballerino, paran's hard work eventually came to fruition by the opening of a ballet club in an elementary school just a few subway stops from his home. they're in need of a teacher, and paran thought he could fill the position. it was an easy score for him; he mentioned his eleven years of practicing ballet, provided his performance and practice videos, and his surname gave away the fact that he is yeon myungho and lee boram's son.

paran with people his age may be a little awkward, but he was a patient and kind teacher towards the little kids. as he expected, the classes were mostly girls—just like how it had been for these many years. he too, was the only remaining male in his generation although his career as a performer pretty much ended before it started. generally, paran's teaching was well received by the students and their parents. he's young, attractive, patient, and reserved—they can trust their kids with paran and the kids generally liked (or had a crush on) him.

if not a ballet dancer, paran doesn’t know what else to do with his life. he never liked studying and only did so just to pass his classes, but he knew that he wanted to get into a top 3 university just so that it’ll look good in his curriculum vitae. he went to hakwon and studied what is necessary for college entrance exams, even though he didn’t really know where he wanted to go. his peers who liked art told him not to pursue an artistic major since he might get burnt out and lose his passion, so paran believed it and started looking into technology-related majors. after all, he’s interested in gaming and may look into game programming in the future; emphasis on may. paran never actually tried coding or programming before and is more interested in putting his rough ideas for possible gameplays.

if it weren’t for his two very ambitious best friends helping him study for college entrance exams, paran probably wouldn’t have passed considering he’s the only one of them who’s balancing studies and his part-time job as a ballet teacher. unlike the two of them who are incredibly passionate in sciences and engineering, paran’s first love was performing arts. they don’t understand why he can’t just pursue art-related courses like in DIMA, for instance—out of fear of losing his passion and out of consideration that someone precious to him is still recovering from traumas in relation to their shared passion.

but then again, paran pulled through with it. and here he is, accepted as a freshman under yonsei university’s coveted computer science and industrial engineering major. by far the orientation has been showering paran with new experiences that he always finds fascinating, and he might just warm up to his major a bit—or will he? well, whatever. the school year just started, and paran thinks it’s more important for him to get adjusted to college life, especially now that he’s living in the dorms without his family for the first time. the independence that he’s always yearned for—no more restraining himself just to stay considerate, now he’s free to do whatever he wants!

... well, he just knows that deep inside, his flame for ballet still ignites brightly. and if there's no one to stop him now, wouldn't this be the perfect chance to relive his longtime dreams?
LIKES
alcohol.   he hasn't tried drinking yet, but he will grow to like beer and soju if he tries it with friends. his favourite's got to be rum or baileys in coffee, though.
classical art.   it's definitely in his blood and myunghwi's influence since paran pretty much spent his entire life around myunghwi. not only he likes ballet and classical music, but he also enjoys learning about renaissance art.
coffee.   paran is a regular coffee drinker and has to have at least one cup each day, regardless if it's pure or instant. he usually prefers black coffee with sugar because it's cheaper, but would go for latte if he has the money.
family guy.   he really doesn't look like this type, but paran secretly has a rather cursed sense of humour and can take dark jokes even though he's not one to crack them.
harry potter.   a lot of people think he's a ravenclaw because he's a teacher and he just gives smart boy vibes, but nope. he's a proud hufflepuff and a far from smart one at that.
little kids.   paran has no plans of ever having one of his own in the future, but he surely enjoys their little smiles when they tackle plies and arabesques, and their high-pitched voices thanking him every time he wraps the class up. some of them can be too much at times, but paran is a natural at doing his job and he enjoys it.
mint chocolate.   he (not literally) would fight someone who dared to say that mint chocolate tastes like toothpaste. no, it doesn't! paran is really open about his love for mint chocolate, often posting about it on social media and even getting mint choco haters try it just because they want to get closer to him.
music.   he's an obvious chopin and yiruma fan, but he actually listens to all kinds of music including noisy edm that's currently trending. he just believes that there's beauty in every genre, we just have to look at it in different perspectives.
student events/parties.   although oftentimes he'll start off awkward if he doesn't know anyone, it's only a matter of seconds until paran gets adopted by the extroverts and makes new friends.
DISLIKES
being asked to do stuff.   small favours don't really bother him, but some people really don't know the difference between working hours and rest hours.
being surrounded by strangers.   it's one thing if paran blends into a social group and observes from the side, but a completely different story if he's the centre of attention. if people could read the room, they'd instantly see how uncomfortable paran gets when strangers ask him too many questions at once.
homework. if paran could travel back in time and rewind history, he would've hit the person who invented homework with a frying pan until they get knocked out. that mf invented some torture device, thank you!
not being instantly good at something.   it just makes him feel so useless and insecure; his classmates understanding the assignment in one go, while paran needs to review the material a few times before he can go. he knew that computer science and engineering will be difficult, but this is a lot harder than he anticipated.
strong smells.   this is one of the reasons why paran wouldn't ever think of trying cigarettes even if he's guilt tripped into it. but well... if he can persist against smoking, this is his first baby step towards being able to say no.
HOBBIES
ballet.   needless to say, ballet is paran's first love. being hopelessly in love with art is entirely different from being in love with a person, and paran would prefer the former even if he's never been in love with a person before.
basketball.   he's not good at it, but only got into it because he needed to be decent at it for physical education class in high school. until now, he still enjoys it in his leisure time, but never thought of playing it competitively.
gaming.   paran grew interested in gaming and esports because of geon and jiwoong, and now plays pubg on a smaller-scale competitive level. however, jiwoong has stopped playing so paran is by himself in the gaming club now.
going to art museums.   paran believes there's a strong correlation between history and arts, so the more he looks into various artworks and their contexts, the more he learns about humanity from the past. maybe someday, he'll be part of it?
guitar.   less of a hobby, and more of something he took up out of curiosity. paran listens to a lot of indie rock and always wanted to learn the guitar himself, but never got the opportunity since he could never buy his own guitar. back then he could borrow geon's, but not anymore now. but now that he's getting closer to haneul, he always pestered her to teach him one or two easy songs.
TRIVIAS
— he doesn't usually carry a bag and just puts everything in his pockets, except when he brings his macbook or change clothes.
— paran graduated from dongsung all-boys high school, jongno-gu, seoul.
— going to an all-boys high school is the main reason why paran never had a girlfriend, despite always receiving chocolate in his locker on valentine's day.
— because paran is too soft to say no, either jiwoong or geon (mostly jiwoong) have been the ones to step in the dates that he could've been in. it's not that he doesn't want to date, but he's too shy!
— out of habit, he always cleans after himself when he's eating on restaurants. little things like returning the tray to the workers, stacking plates and bowls, and so on.
— although paran is generally a clean person and wouldn't hesitate to pick trash off of the streets, no; he wouldn't wash your dishes unless paid to do so.
— the one time paran got asked out in person, he got so red and too embarrassed to say anything, so he just ran off without saying a word. what a shame because he also liked the girl, but she got so offended by his actions.
— if paran would still be involved in computer science in the next two years, he would consider focusing into augmented reality or internet of things.
— out of habit, paran likes to put various snacks into boxes and give them out to his closest friends during exam seasons. though, sometimes he would buy too much because others get jealous if they don't receive the snack boxes from him. (silvi you know this stuff skjdfbskj)
— he's a bad texter and literally has over 700 unopened dms that has accumulated since his first year of high school.
— as a roommate, paran is a pretty easy one. he keeps his stuff clean and organised and doesn't make much noise, let alone inviting others without the roommate's consent. the most annoying thing he'd do is mayhaps just stay up until really late, either doing his assignment or playing games.
— he also likes to play classical music whilst lighting a scented candle in the dorms, which may or may not have triggered the fire alarm before—but lesson learned, and he'll switch to aromatic diffusers instead.
— although paran isn't exactly the brightest, he can be pretty good at studying if he tries hard enough.
— he has a rather simple sense of humour and would still giggle to tears at the lamest dad jokes. however, he's the type to rarely smile unless directly interacted with, so he often came off as one with a very... regal-looking rbf.
— he has an instagram account with around 7k followers, blueyoun_. his content doesn't stray too much from his daily life, but he also posts ballet practice videos and kpop dance covers.
— the said account was the reason why paran got offered trainee contracts by at least 14 companies including sm, woollim, starship, and some others. some of them literally came up to him after school, so that's how paran learned to run faster and climb trees to hide.
— rejecting internet scouts are easier for him because he just leaves them on read or block them.
— paran knows he's really handsome and gets satisfied when he looks in the mirror, but he gets real shy when someone tells it straight to his face!
— paran never learned how to drive, so obviously he doesn't have a license. the best thing he could ride is a bicycle, but he doesn't have one. but hey, at least he can run really fast.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
— just like most university students, paran has inconsistent sleeping hours. sometimes he can go to bed at 11 pm, but other times he can sleep the entire day and only go to bed at 3 am.
— however, he tries his best to wake up in time for school (although chances are he'll doze off or gawk in class). when he's really running late, he'll just throw on a blazer over whatever he wore to sleep and sprint all the way to the campus.
— paran works as a freelance model, so he usually tries to slip the photoshoot during his free time or do it on weekends. however, if the photographer and other participants can't compromise, he would skip practice or university classes but never skip the classes he teaches.
— whenever the photoshoot gigs come, he tries to prioritise them because he gets a decent pay (very cheap compared to professional models, but decent enough to add to his allowance) and those gigs rarely come.
— he's a bad multitasker, so he has to focus on one thing at a time and cannot do assignments in between practice breaks. he does them when he's back at the dorms.
— paran is a member of the gaming club, but he's more active on the group chat or discord server than in-person meetings. honestly, he's just there to look for pubg team members.
— the reason why paran is rarely present on club meetings is because it often collides with his teaching schedules, and he can never miss it or he'll get his salary cut off.
— however, he's always present on student events on organisation, department, or faculty level.
— although paran mostly studies and does his assignments in the dorms, he's also a regular visitor of get well soon cafe and would work on his stuff there when he wants some time to himself. if he's meeting up with jiwoong, it's usually here. but if the two of them are meeting geon, they'll meet somewhere else.

NAME yeon boreum (31).
R/S older sister.
OCCUPATION former ballerina + current owner of myunghwi arts foundation.

ISTJ; 1w9

their relationship right now is sort of... complicated. on one hand boreum feels guilty of restricting paran off of his passion, but she doesn't want him to go through what she went through. he's young, charming, and only starting to approach his prime so it would be a massive bummer if paran's career had to end tragically, especially with such brilliant potential in him.

right now, they haven't been talking much ever since paran lost his temper at boreum. that was the first and last time she's seen him show anger, so she knew she had ed up real bad that even apologies won't mend the wounds. she felt terrible about ruining paran's precious pointe shoes, but her intentions are good. she knew the exact venue that paran was about to perform in and it wasn't known for its safety, so she kind of saved him—or did she, when none of the dancers got caught in any mishaps?

all in all, she thought he's content with just training to become a ballet instructor while pursuing a degree in computer science. she thought paran had entirely given up on his dream to become a danseur noble, but she's wrong. even the artistic director knew male dancers like paran only come once in a blue full moon (pun intended) and are they really that stupid to let go of someone with that much potential, right under their noses?

paran might have to go with his ego and pause caring for boreum's feelings this time just so that he can prove her that accidents do not happen to everyone. yes, injuries are bound to happen in any career—but if it's something that paran loves, it's going to be worth the blood, tears, and sweat. even if boreum will have to go through panic attacks seeing paran perform on tall tilted stages, it'll be nothing compared to her proud smile when paran makes his own name as the youngest south korean danseur noble.

NAME yeon kyungsan (62).
R/S uncle.
OCCUPATION restaurant owner.

ISTJ; 3w2

they used to be close, but not anymore since boreum came back to korea to live with them. it's a combination of needing to take care of boreum whilst taking her to the therapist (both mentally and physically), and paran just preferring to spend time with his friends during his puberty. paran doesn't resent kyungsan although he used to get really jealous of boreum back then.

other people often said that by being the youngest child (especially if you're male), you'll automatically be the favourite child. but that wasn't the case for paran; it's always been boreum, boreum, and boreum. he understood why—she's making her own name internationally before coming to a sudden fall, while he's just there. he's just a normal teenager who doesn't contribute much to the family. even when kyungsan tried his best to become a father figure, it's just overwhelming on his behalf. all of a sudden he had to take his brother's teenage son and injured daughter under his wing, so no matter how much kyungsan tried to be their parent, he just can't. it's simply because he's neither myungho or boram, and it's nobody's fault.

kyungsan was worried about paran's decision to move out and live in the dormitory, but understood because he'll be having lots of activites in campus and back-and-forth trips may be costly, both financially and mentally. on the bright side, since it inevitably will keep some distance between him and paran, it may get paran's state of mind about their small 'family' clearer. after all, they're still family and whether they like it or not, they do need and love each other. maybe there's a silver lining that will bring back their closeness after being distanced for some time.

NAME heo "callum" jiwoong (19).
R/S best friend; high school classmates.
OCCUPATION freshman @ yonsei university, architectural & urban engineering major.

ENTP; 7w8

although jiwoong hasn't been with paran since day one, he's always there when paran needed him, mostly to help with his studies. they bonded over their similar taste of music and performing arts, and jiwoong actually broadened paran's perspective in that aspect since he studied a lot about european art and architecture himself.

to jiwoong, paran is that one friend who must be protected from all evil. unlike jiwoong and geon who have no problem standing up for themselves and pursuing what they want, paran is a lot more submissive and would rather resent quietly than to make decisions upfront.

whenever paran needed to make tough decisions, jiwoong was usually there  to help him list out pros and cons of each decision. not gonna lie, one of the reasons paran chose yonsei over any art university is because jiwoong is already accepted in scholarship and paran wouldn't know what to do without him.

yes, paran and jiwoong technically are still under the same department—but they're in different majors that have almost nothing to do with each other, and they don't share any clubs together on top of that. unlike paran, jiwoong has his priorities straight—he knows he'll need to put academics and organisations over friendships, and what would paran do without jiwoong?

JIWOONG IS...
— jiwoong is the only one of the trio who is exempt from mandatory military service since he has american citizenship and only moved to korea on second year of high school. despite having a legal english name—callum—neither geon or paran ever called him such.
— the self-proclaimed leader of the trio. paran and geon think he deserves the title, though. he's the smartest of the three and encourages them all to make money out of their skills—like joining gaming tournaments.
— the guy who leaves everyone on read, especially if someone asks favours out of the blue. however, he never leaves paran and geon on read. he would rather tell them he's too busy to join gaming sessions, than leave his friends hanging.
— the straightforward one. an "it is what it is" kind of guy. wouldn't mind telling harsh truths even to his closest friends, including paran and geon.
— paran is closer to jiwoong than he is to geon, but jiwoong considers himself closer to geon. personality wise, jiwoong and geon click better, but he shares more common interests with paran.

NAME yoon geon (19).
R/S best friend; high school classmates.
OCCUPATION freshman @ konkuk university, computer science & engineering.

ESFJ; 1w9

to paran, geon is more than just the 'mom friend'. without geon, the dongsung prince trio is missing the final piece that keeps paran and jiwoong on good grounds. both paran and jiwoong are the type of kids who would drink four cans of coffee in one go to study or push their gaming ranks up, and geon is just that person who reminds them that they aren't engines.

as the only one of the trio that didn't make it to yonsei university; it'd be a lie if geon said he never got jealous of his two best friends, especially paran who got into his dream major despite it was him who mostly helped paran with studies.

boy, if geon knew how much paran is slacking in his classes, he would've dragged paran's out of the dorms and smacked paran with 40 pillows at once. he's worked so hard for this and surely his family is proud of paran for getting into a sky university, is he really this dumb for letting all his hard work go to waste?

and to think that paran's spot could've gone to geon if he really didn't want it; their friendship will go through some rough waves throughout the story, unlike how smooth it has been through the three years of high school.

there's a possibility that geon might retake college entrance exams the next year to pursue paran's major in yonsei, although they most likely will meet in class if paran needs to retake his classes. he plans to fulfill his enlistment duties after graduating college, regardless of when it is.

GEON IS...
— the former student council president. even though he's the busiest of the trio, he often makes time to study and plays games with them. he even still plays together with paran to this day, and geon knows some of paran's new friends from yonsei.
— the only one of the trio who is completely blind about arts. to him, all dancers are equally talented and all paintings look cool.
— when he watches ballet plays, he doesn't know what's going on most of the time. paran could mope around about choreography and geon would just smile, nod, and pretend he understands.
— he thinks communication is extremely important in maintaining friendships, but may struggle in implementing it, especially because he's separated from jiwoong and paran now.
— the friendliest of the trio!
— is closer to jiwoong than he is to paran, just because paran often accidentally leaves him on read. however, it's never awkward if it's just him and paran.

life direction
— right now, he's just trying to adapt to college life whilst dabbling in his major; making friends, connections, and whatnot from clubs and student events. he's sort of in a euphoric phase of newfound freedom, so what's better than having him meet a bad influence now that his best friends are somewhat away from him?
— like getting guilt tripped to party the night before an exam, or drinking so much that he got hungover the day he's supposed to teach, and so on. he probably will try vaping as well, but not smoking.
— knowing geon, he'll smack tf out of paran if he knew that paran is slacking in his classes. he'd still be down to help paran with studies though, although he'll be stricter with it since paran chose this major himself even though both geon and jiwoong convinced him to just pursue his passion.
— of course, this major isn't really for paran. on that matter, there are two possible endings: (or more if you wanna add, idk)
   1) he drops out of yonsei to pursue another major, probably theatre or musical major in DIMA since they're still somewhat related to ballet; or an education major so that he can pursue a career track as an elementary english teacher
     2) or he'd get his head out of his and push himself to keep learning, retake the classes that he failed the next year, and pull through with studying especially if his curiosity leads him to dabbling with AR. maybe, seeing such technology will give him ideas of a virtual ballet show?
— you know the stuff like hatsune miku concert and hologram circus? i can totally see the bulb in paran's head lighting up and him actually proposing a ballet show like that to boreum (maybe even become boreum's comeback as a ballerina because she'll only have to dance backstage and let the animation + projection magic work, so that she can perform without actually going on stage)
— in relation to that and paran's dream of becoming a danseur noble: he already has a good relationship with the artistic director (person in charge of ballet shows in myunghwi), so they most likely will help paran practice for performances without boreum knowing. please let this boy have his moment to shine on stage, thank you- and let him prove that he's capable of taking care of himself!

interview
HELLO, IT'S NICE TO MEET YOU. NOW, BEFORE WE START, CAN YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF?
"good afternoon!" paran greeted the interviewer with a bow, lips curling into a slight smile as he fixed his posture. "my name is yeon paran, twenty years old, and i'm from seoul."

WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT GOALS  IN LIFE? DO YOU HAVE A LIFE MOTTO OR PRINCIPLE YOU LIVE BY?
the question almost took paran aback, he's been in multiple interviews and it's never been this sudden to ask about his goals right after introducing himself. it's kind of fishy, but whatever; he's already here, and he's got to finish it. "well, um... i don't really know what to do with my life... but i'll get there, eventually. right now, i just make sure to treat others the way i want to be treated: with respect and kindness, and good karma will always come back."

WHAT ARE THREE WORDS YOU IMAGINE PEOPLE DESCRIBE YOU AS?
yeon, pa, ran—he almost wanted to tell it as a joke, but he resisted. although, it was difficult for him to hold back his laughter, almost letting out small chuckles and giggles under his breath. "well... i've heard lots of people calling me dongsung prince charming? not too sure why, though."

HOW DO YOU WANT TO BE REMEMBERED LATER IN LIFE?
south korea's youngest danseur noble. that's what paran has always wanted to become since he was a child—some discerning adults have thrown dirty looks saying ballet is for girls, but paran didn't care. hilarion from giselle is certainly not a girl, and so is romeo from romeo in juliet. he believes that all forms of art are made for everyone; to perform, to enjoy, to appreciate, and to create. but well, although he still doesn't want to let go of his dream, he's not exactly optimistic about it either. "i really... don't know. i just want people to reminiscence the good things about me when i die."

ANY LAST WORDS BEFORE WE END? IT'S BEEN GREAT HAVING YOU.
finally! that was an interesting one, paran mused. he'll never know what that interview was for, though he certainly hopes it's not for selling his personal data to the government. but even if it is, what are they going to do about it? steal his deep-fried family guy memes?  oh well— "thank you!" paran got up from his seat, bowing towards the interviewer. "have a nice day and please stay healthy, ma'am/sir."

  dear haneul,
now playing: fearless - taylor swift
absentmindedly making me want you
and i don't know why, but with you
i'd dance in the storm

CURRENT STATUS neither paran or haneul are looking for any sort of romantic relationships; both of them are content being with just themselves and doing what they love the most. for them, it's more important than pursuing romantic relations with other people.

well, that's what they thought until a particular day—where the sky is clear and blue as their names. maybe whoever is up there is exactly controlling their thoughts to think that their safe little havens are where they belong—but right here, as their eyes meet, they realised that they can share their save havens with each other.

paran has never had any interest in a person like he does to the arts, but he wouldn't say no if he feels incredibly comfortable with someone. and in this case, haneul is that person.

THE STORY even before meeting paran in person, haneul has heard a lot about him from ahri, a mutual friend of theirs. a really talented ballerino who gets forced to bury his passion and perseverance six feet under, because the owner of myunghwi arts foundation cannot let him perform on plays for some reason. even then, haneul thought it was ridiculous. if paran really is as talented as ahri's description, wouldn't they want him to perform and promote their foundation? what a bunch of weirdos.

everything ahri said about paran turned out to be true, haneul thought when she met paran in person for the first time. even so, ahri's description and paran's instagram photos were underwhelming—if anybody could put a person to perfectly describe a fairytale prince, this is the person. even more when she watches him dance; it's just... different.

it all began with ahri introducing them to each other—haneul the pianist, and paran the ballerino. as a ballerina who has been friends with both paran and haneul for a while, ahri is some sort of their middle-man. because paran isn't the type to initiate conversations and well, haneul, she's just there because ahri dragged her to play the piano while she and paran rehearse the dance. to kill two birds with one stone, she says—but that doesn't stop haneul from acting all sulky about it.

their first few meetings mostly consisted of ahri carrying the conversations, until she was absent for one of their team practices for an upcoming play. the more haneul looks at paran, the more she notices that dancers like him come only once in a blue moon. sure, he may not be the most flexible or one that learns choreography the fastest—but no one beats the elegance and fluidity that he has. the more she looks at him, the more she appreciates the art within paran himself.

"hey, can i ask you something?" haneul looked at him in curiosity when it's just the two of them in practice. she's been meaning to ask paran about it, but she figured that he'd be more comfortable answering when it's just them, without ahri. the boy didn't give her any verbal response, but haneul knew that his raised eyebrows and rounded eyes meant an ok. "you're a crazy talented dancer. why aren't you, like, portraying prince albrecht or romeo yet?"

paran responded to her question with a sigh, his shrug giving away that he's given up. for a second, haneul thought there's more to it that it seems, and that she's asked the wrong question.

"i want to. i do, so badly." paran's soft voice spoke up, so airy and gentle that haneul would've been only barely able to hear it if it weren't for the practice room's acoustics, and the fact that it's just them in there. "but my sister—the owner of myunghwi, said no. i understand why, because her ballet career literally ended in the snap of a finger."

"she fell from a height of over two metres, and suffered traumas that she still deals with to this day." paran continued, and haneul can see the bitterness behind his beautiful smile. "but what can i do? even if i can never find true happiness in anything else, she knows better."

haneul isn't usually one to feel an intense empathy for others, but she felt a tinge of pain at paran's words. his actions really tell what kind of person he is—his patience when handling small gremlins, the way he holds the door open for strangers including even young men his age, and how he keeps his dreams buried deep to stay considerate for his sister. something that haneul would never do in her wildest dreams, but she understood his motives.

either way, haneul had always thought it didn't make sense that someone has to push their dreams aside for someone else. haneul was someone who wouldn't hesitate to take that leap of faith, and paran would rather keep his loved ones close than accidentally pushing them away with his actions. they're not the same, and somehow it hurts more than it would've irked her.

***

haneul is the type to just go for it and follow her dreams, and she understood that paran's circumstances won't allow him to do so. only telling him to "just do it" won't even work, so urging him to do some things will hopefully do the trick—and haneul has always enjoyed watching paran's dance anyway. for him to be selected as an assistant teacher, there has to be that special something, and haneul sees it. good male dancers are already a rarity in the ballet community, let alone those that qualify as a danseur noble. when she looked up wikipedia to know what that means, there were barely any asian ones, if any at all. paran still has a long way to go, but with his resilience (and words of the myunghwi creative director), haneul agreed that paran has a different feel to the rest of myunghwi's male dancers of his age.

as they grow more comfortable with each other, haneul also grew more comfortable annoying paran tempting him to dance while she plays the music. it turns out that paran got to see haneul more often than ahri, whether during her shifts on get well soon cafe or in yonsei student events. oftentimes it would go with haneul asking paran to tag along with her (which he always accepts, unless he's with jiwoong or his roommate), or paran buying her a drink so that she won't get thirsty during her shift. to him, it's just little acts of service that he also does to his guy friends, but he sometimes forgets that she's not a guy. whether he realises it or not, his heart skips a beat and ears turn red when they share one umbrella on their way to myunghwi—let alone the times they'd have to put his jacket over their heads because they forgot their umbrellas.

little by little, haneul began coming to myunghwi not because ahri dragged her into her pas de deux practices with paran, but willingly so. it's just because she enjoys watching paran dance while she plays, and more so because it's the only way they'd get to spend some time alone. why, if you'd ask her? she doesn't really know, she just enjoys his company and what an unfiltered paran is like, without any other people around. his dumb jokes, his taste of music, his knowledge about renaissance art, even the way he complains about his professors. it just hits different when it's just the two of them, her fingers dancing on the keys while paran's limbs match her rhythm on the floor. sometimes she would even purposely play the piece badly so that he'd come and join her, but mostly that's because she wants to see him take that leap of faith like she did.

she wants to see him set free and be happy, too.

it all happened so slowly, so gradually. the next thing haneul knew, she felt a little tension towards ahri when she watches her and paran practice their pas de deux. too close, too close! but she can't get mad at either of them, they're just doing their jobs—and this might just be that one chance for paran to finally take a leap of faith. even more so when ahri told her that she's starting to catch feelings for paran, even though a small "go for it" was what came out of , she knew she didn't really mean it. but oh well, anything to see her friends happy.

though, haneul did notice that paran has been keeping a little more distance from both she and ahri after ahri told her about confessing her feelings to paran. in a way, it's kind of like he's ghosting ahri and it's heartbreaking both on haneul's side and ahri's, and they somehow knew that ghosting never means a yes. however, it's not any better than directly turning someone down, by any means. and even if haneul's starting to feel some type of way towards paran, she still thinks it's wrong to just escape from whatever problem he's facing. thank goodness, they still have one-on-one sessions like they used to, since paran would rather do that than his pas de deux with ahri right now.

"so, about ahri," she saw paran slightly tense up as he stretches on the barre. it's in his eyes, and she can see it through the mirror. "have you ever said anything about it?"

no response, except a slight shrug.

"paran, you can't always stay like this. yeah, i know, it's fight or flight—but how long do you want to do this for?"

"i don't want to hurt or offend anybody." his gentle voice said almost nonchalantly, not even averting his focus from the barre and his posture. paran never meant to be ignorant or even nonchalant, but his lack of expression made it seem so.

"and you think you're not hurting anyone by saying nothing?" she blurted. "if you think so, you're wrong. it's not any better, if not even worse."

she's got a point. paran mused, adjusting the loose ribbons on his pointe. it's not that he hates ahri or anything, let alone thinking she has flaws that don't click with him. of course, she's not a perfect person, but so are everyone else. it's just that paran cannot see her as anything other than a friend, and it's completely normal. some people just need a little extra care in order to fall in love with another one, and that's exactly what paran is. crushes are one thing, but paran would never consider getting into a relationship if he's not sure about feeling comfortable and totally head over heels for the other person.

but... how about haneul? is she just the same as he is?

paran couldn't sleep the entire night after what haneul said, and he just knew he had to clarify things as soon as possible. the day of the show is only getting closer, and paran and ahri's got to get their act together if they don't want anyone to replace their roles. especially for paran, this is a huge chance that he couldn't slip up.

the next day, he found himself arranging a meeting for only himself and ahri. preferably somewhere that haneul rarely or never visits, and absolutely not myunghwi.

ahri, can we meet at space manhwa cafe, tuesday at 7 pm?
i'm really sorry for what i've done, and there's something important i want to talk about
— paran.

turns out that paran didn't have to wait too long for a reply, as ahri read his message right away and he saw her typing shortly after that.

sure, i'm free then! i hope you're not telling me that you quit the play, or i'm chasing you with calculus books ㅋㅋㅋ
— ahri.

somehow, ahri's joking tone was a huge relief to paran. at least now he knows that she doesn't hate him, or at least she doesn't hate him yet. haneul was right, paran was being a douchebag. ahri could ignore him if she wants to, but he's glad that they got to solve it on civil grounds.

well, it's a relief that ahri doesn't hate paran. but what about the person that paran truly likes? he swore he'll never forgive himself if they got into a fight because of him, or even worse.

"so, what did you want to tell me?" right after arriving to a waiting paran in the cafe, that was what ahri said. she didn't even bother ordering food or grabbing a comic of her own, as opposed to paran who was sipping americano and reading fairy tail while he waited.

"firstly," he closed the book and put it away on the table, "i'm sorry for... you know, being such a douche-"

"it's okay, i know your answer anyway." ahri let out a lighthearted chuckle, but paran can see a tinge of pain in her eyes. he swore he's seen this look before— "i just hope we can still be friends, we've got to snatch that lead pairing role!"

"of course." a small smile spread across paran's lips, but he knew that it wasn't genuine. this isn't what he invited ahri here for, and he's got something else to tell.

"... actually, i wanted to tell you something else, but promise me that you'll never hate the person."

"what?"

"i... i'm saying no, not because i don't like you—but i can't see you in that way. not for any reason, but i... i like someone else. goodness, i hope that made sense,"

"is it someone i know?"

"it's not important." paran replied almost sternly, or at least that's what he wished he sounded like. "but whoever it is, please promise me that you wouldn't hate them." gazing longingly out the window and into the bustling streets outside, paran let out an inaudible sigh. he's going to see haneul again tonight, would it be the right timing to finally tell her everything?

INTERACTIONS at first glance, there's no way to tell if haneul and paran are lovers, siblings, or just friends. their first encounters are expected to be awkward, but it wasn't too long before they discovered that they have a lot of common interests and personalities that react well to one another. the last time paran felt this amount of connection towards someone his age was with jiwoong, but haneul isn't jiwoong's replacement in any way. they're kind of similar in a way, but also different. unlike jiwoong who plans a bit too far ahead, haneul is someone who lives in the moment and she's the exact person who can influence paran to do the same.

since their schedules often collide together, he sees her pretty much everywhere. not only in myunghwi, but also in yonsei events and even in campus during afterschool hours. heck, she's there when paran is trying to chill alone in the cafe, and oftentimes it would end up being the two of them together, researching stuff that would end up in his or her essays. but would they call it a date? maybe not, although sometimes it feels like one. not in the sense that they do things that couples do, but he genuinely enjoys her company and actually preferred being with her than alone. when there's an iced americano with extra sugar on his table without paran buying it himself, he can just look up from his laptop and see her shooting finger guns at him. exactly the way she likes to purposely , because she thought it was so funny and cute when he turns red as a tomato.

well, as time goes by, it became more apparent that haneul and paran are starting to look more like a couple than just friends, or even siblings. yes, they bicker and haneul likes to purposely . yes, their conversations often end up weird like telling cursed jokes about anime memes. however, it's the way that paran looks at her that gives it away. he doesn't even need to touch her or even stand close, but his eyes immediately light up when they're on haneul. even more so when they, for instance, get stuck on the rain at night after their practice or teaching schedules at myunghwi. even back then, haneul had always looked at paran in admiration whenever she sees the boy dance, but there's just something different about it now. now, it's really either up to haneul to forget the thing between ahri and paran, or paran to step out of his comfort zone and ask her about it.

— his love language is quality time, which explains the late night walks and how he prefers her company over being alone.
— the moment when paran instantly grew comfortable with haneul was when she cracked a joke so dumb and so awkward, that he almost peed himself laughing. after confessing that he almost peed himself, the laughter only got amplified.
— sometimes paran would purposely stay at gwsc or the restaurant haneul works at, just to walk her home especially at night. he says he's only there for the free wi-fi, but haneul knows he's only making excuses.
— since some of haneul's shifts end so late, paran sometimes ended up getting locked out of his dorms after walking her home. in that case, if he's not planning to skip school the next day, he would go home to jongno and sleep there. but if he has classes the next morning, he'll crash on her couch for a couple hours and return to the dorms in the morning.
— contrary to his hesitant personality, paran would make the actual first move like asking her out and their first kiss. if she doesn't return his feelings, then it is what it is. though, he certainly hopes she does.
— they share extremely similar tastes in music, so he often asks for her playlist recommendations and vice versa. matter of fact, that was the reason why paran asked for haneul's kkt and they kept talking since then.
— they actually lived pretty close to each other during their high school days, and paran didn't know.
— before ahri told haneul about her little crush on paran, he and haneul used to go on trips to many art museums around seoul—for studying purposes, as he says. but in reality, it's more about sharing earbuds while they're on the bus and them acting like idiots together than actually learning anything.
— after ahri told haneul, there's a visible tension between paran and haneul until he confesses that he misses haneul's presence, and ultimately telling her about his true feelings.
— only boreum and paran are aware of this, but paran was actually almost named haneul. he never made any big deal out of this, but looking back—that must've been a huge coincidence.
— they say that ballet dancers are known for having nice butts from their muscles. so... haneul? have fun drumming to queen's "we will rock you" on paran's !

ENDING rather than directly asking haneul to be his girlfriend or even telling her that he likes her, paran would rather ask if she's had any feelings for him, regardless of how small it is. as haneul is technically paran's first love, it's a "falling slow and hard" situation for him. he realised it when he started to prefer her company over being alone, or even jiwoong's. sometimes he would even wait in the cafe until her shift is done, so that they could head straight to practice or spend the night at her place, watching spongebob or playing uno cards with some flavoured soju, until they drunkenly kiss and laugh about it in the morning. the wholesome little things that remain from their friendship, but paran knew she's all his and vice versa. maybe, if things go smoothly enough for them in the next decade or so, they may be the next in line to continue myunghwi's legacy.

NICKNAME(S)
my sky.   it's not something that paran can use in front of her without turning red, but it's something that he uses to refer to her on his social media posts, or with other people. she may or may not know about this, but either way—she'd definitely love to hear him call her "my sky" sometime.

princess.   it actually started out as his attempt to one-up her flirts, as she likes to call him "prince charming" in a playful manner, referring to his ballet roles and noble aura. because she's his closest female friend (and hopefully later girlfriend), he jokingly said "and does that make you my princess?", which emerged some teases. not gonna lie, he thought it was entertaining to see her get flustered because she usually doesn't.

part-time job @ get well soon cafe.   as her parents refused to financially support her and she refuses to constantly depend on her older sibling, haneul decided to take part time jobs to get by. one job particularly being at get well soon cafe

part-time piano / guitar teacher.   a sideline she gets through connections and extending her hand to others. haneul usually teaches little kids about the basics on piano or guitar, depending on the instrument they choose. parents, who've heard of her due to word of mouth, tend to approach as her rate per hour is one of the cheapest around and once their kids have learnt the basics, even to intermediate, haneul advises them to find a more professional teacher. though there's no stable income and it generally comes and goes, haneul enjoys teaching little kids as it's a new experience for her. she teaches them in creative ways and methods that ensure it's enjoyable for them to learn because, in this way, it plants their love for music and for art.

PERSONALITY well, haneul in paran's eyes? at first, he thought haneul was the female version of jiwoong because of their similarly outgoing and knowledgeable nature. however, after spending some time getting to know haneul on a personal level, he began to notice their vast differences. she is something that paran can truly be himself with. someone he can tell the dumbest dad jokes, send cute puppy pictures, and even the weirdest worm-on-a-string memes. she is someone he'd grab by the hand to tango under the pouring rain, before pulling her in his embrace to warm themselves up—yet also the person that he'd challenge to a snowball duel to the death—not literally, but it's the dumb shenanigans that make him love her even more.

with haneul, paran doesn't need to say much, and they both know anyway that they love each other. that's young love at its best, and paran wouldn't have it any other way. in fact, he's glad that they met as somewhat mature college students (putting aside the jokes they cracked while they're at the museum), and not any younger. neither of them are more mature than the other, but paran would say it's haneul if they have to pick one. compared to him, haneul is someone who lives both at the present and in the future. she's definitely more independent and readier to face the world than he is, although paran isn't really that far behind.

haneul is someone warm and outgoing at her best, yet detached and inconsiderate at her worst. it clashes with paran's catering towards other people's feelings and wellbeing—but rather than a recipe for a toxic relationship, they actually complement each other down to their worst qualities. yeon paran is one of the rare people that nam haneul grew attached to, and his actions give away that he genuinely cares for her as a person. if anyone has the power to make haneul feel loved enough to make her consider their feelings, paran is that person. and while a lot of other people would urge paran to take that leap of faith and stop hesitating, that's not what he's looking for in haneul. paran himself wouldn't know what it is in haneul that made him want her so badly, other than their galore of intersecting interests—but he knew that he feels comfortable with her, and wouldn't have it any other way.

COMMENTS hi, hello! rn i feel like i could've gone into deeper detail about what he's like as a person but i hope you can imagine him in the story!
— also a little tidbit that may be useful: despite sunghoon being paran's fc, i imagined his speaking voice to sound differently than hoon's lmao. it's something really soft and almost... asmr-ish? kinda like enhypen's heeseung, p1harmony's jiung, txt's soobin, ooooor basically the male version of loona's hyunjin?

SCENE SUGGESTIONS
— since he's currently living in the dorms, it's a great opportunity to pair him up with a 'bad influence' as his roommate ;)
— the slow drifting between paran's friendship with jiwoong and geon, because let's be honest, this happens way too many times lol (... or do i just at maintaining friendships?)
— paran finally debuting as an important role on stage; one of the dancers almost suffering the same fall as boreum but paran pulled them to safety
— the dongsung prince trio reuniting after drifting from each other !!
— paran experiencing his first relationship: first date as a couple, first time celebrating their anniversary, first kiss?

PASSWORD from my pov, definitely boreum! but from paran's pov...? he's yet to meet most of them, but he's going to like haesol if they ever meet.
