[ PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION ] Bai is someone full of energy, he's always up to do something and this definitely applies to his work too. To him the journey is part of the fun as is working out the things one find on the way. Related directly to this is the fact that he's highly efficient. He knows how to look at a problem or question and analyze it and find a solution. Lazyness is not an option with him or around him. Because he's also strong-willed, he won't give up no matter what and he never backs up from a challenge, no matter the form of it.

He's also self-confident, he knows and trusts in his own abilities and he knows how to explain and stand for his own opinions. Being very charismatic he can easily draws the attention of others to him and make them listen and because of his whole "never give up, face the hardships head on" thing he's the type to instill inspiration on others during hard times. He is a peple's person and dealing with people and attention is easy for him. He doesn't exactly seek it, but he kind of attracts it.

But Bai is also way too stubborn, not letting go of things and opinions like a dog that doesn't let go of a bone. Although it's good that he won't give up easily of things, this also means that he won't forget or change opnions easily. This does makes him intolerant with other's views and ideas when he thinks his own is the best way to go. He doesn't  do this on purpose to antagonize people, he truly believes that this is the best way to go, but then it makes him trample a bit over others. This also reflects the fact that he doesn't allow slackers and lazy people to mess up with his planning. Or people are here to work hard and do their best or they can go. Being also impatient doesn't helps. He's too much action oriented and he can't stop and think calmly about things. He lives way too much on the moment and in the future to stop and conteplates the past, even if sometimes this would be recomended.

Also on his ambition to do his best and give his best and achieve what he's lanning to achieve he can be a bit arrogant in thinking his way is the best unless the other side can present their points and opinions in the same quick and convincing way he presents his own. This makes him ruthles while pursuing a goal, not accepting excuses, specially of the emotional kind. He always needs to take care to not guilt or overwhelm people with his intensity. Althought the sun can bring warmth and life and light, it can also bring too much heat. ANd while the moon is soothing and lights the night it also controls the sea that can bring great destruction. So his key point is always that he needs to balance himself. The qualities that makes him great are also the things that bring him down.

All in all, he's a goal oriented but warm person. He can lead when necessary and he's great dealing with high pressure situations. Despite that he also doesn't let rules stiffle him too much and he knows how to balance things when he remembers to not be overwhealming. Most of the time he presents his best side, but he is human and still has his bad days. He also knows how to fight for people he cares and that's one of the things that makes people like him. If you are his friend, or if you are important to him in any way or form, he would have your back no matter what. Even if you just argued he would come to your rescue.

[ BACKGROUND ] Bai was born the only son of  Lin Jianhong and Jiang Yue. His father was an office worker and  his mom was a vet specialized in pandas. That's also why he was born in Chengdu, because his mom worked in the Panda Sanctuary. He had always love to dance and while his father didn't knew what to do with that most of the time, his mother was super supportive. She even convinced his dad to put him in traditional dance classes.

Bai had years of loving support, until the Sichuan esthquake in 2008. By then the family had moved from Chengdu to Chongqing because of Jianhong's job but Yue would eventually go back to the Panda Sanctuary to give assistance. On the day of the earthquake she was on the Sanctuary and was the victim of a landslide. Bai and his father spent days fearing ofr the worst until the bad news really reached them with the confirmation. They both were devastated. Bai was barelly 11.

From then on his world turned upside down. He didn't have his supportive mom anymore and his grieving father had turned into himself and towards his job even more. So Bai did too. He thought that if he studied hard enough his father wold be proud of him and Bai would feel like he at least had one parent yet. But nothing of that brought him joy and he was slowly withering.

Fortunatelly his father noticed it and started to encourage him again to do what he loved: dance. Bai was of course surprised and confused but he couldn't hold tears back when his father told him that now it was his turn to support his dreams since his mother was not with them anymore. It was not easy on father and son to build their lives again and find the balance that had been maintanined by Yue. But they did it. 

With his father's support Bai studied and trained hard and won a scholarship to Hanlim Arts High School and he moved to South Korea when he was barely 15. Not long after he was scouted by Fantagio and with the support of his father he also became a trainee while in high school. His father also encouraged him to keep studing and pursuing the knowledge of what he loved, so that's why Bai also joined an university for a dance major since his trainee schedule allowed him that after he wasn't chosen to debut with Astro. With his father's support he built himself again and never gave up on his dreams and he was finishing his major when the news came that he would finally debut with A1.

Ling-jie [Wu Liling | 23 | A1 co-manager and translator] 

- If you hear someone yell "Ling-jie!!!" through the Fantagio building, you can be sure it's Bai. When they met they bonded quickly over the fact that they were chinese living abroad and nowadays you can usually hear them from afar, because they really seem like siblings sometimes. Liling of course takes care of Bai, as she does with all the members, but in turn Bai also watch out for her. Those "Idol X saves staff from possible accident" videos happen a lot between them. They also teased each other because they were crying after A1's first concert.

Bai-ge [Bai Yuen | 27 | A1 co-manager]

- Bai calls Yuen "Bai-ge" and in return the manager calls him "Bai-di" in an internal joke that both of them are "Bai". Bai trusts and relies a lot in Yuen. He admires the older man a lot too because he managed to turn his life again after his initial dreams were made impossible. Despite not being the dance instructor, Bai usually goes to Yuen for opinion on the routines he's building because the older has much exerience in dancing.

Yong-ge [Zhou Zhangyong | 27 | dance trainer]
- The same way that Bai has a internal joke with Bai Yuen because they are both "Bai", he has one with Zhangyong because they both have "Yong" in their names. So they are "Yong-ge" and "Yong-di" to each other. Bai usually helps Zhangyong with his korean since he's most of the time in the dance practice rooms anyway. They also lowkey flirttalk each other all the time, but they don't actually mean anything with it. (they also invariably turn back to flirt talk in mandarin since Zhangyong's limited korean doesn't allow him to keep up.) Because Bai is one of the choreographers in the group, Zhangyong is one of the instructors that he sees the most.

Charlie-noona [Jeon Chinsun | 23 | head stylist]

- One of Charlie's new missions in life is to put Bai in high waisted pants and cropped tops and jackets to accentuate his waist. And although she can't convince him to fully adopt the style, she uses of any opportunities she can to make her fashion vision come true. Sometimes Bai tries to appeal to his Ling-jie or Bai-ge, but they are "heartless backstabbers", in Bai's words, and they just watch amused while Charlie almost manhandle Bai into the clothes she chose for him.

Namsun [Park Namsun | 23 | A1 member]

- Most of the guys are intimidated by him, but Bai knows him since the other joined Fantagio. He's way past the "edge" front Namsum puts up. He's not afraid to call out Namsun when he's being mean for no reason and most of the time he doesn't take to heart the mean words Namsum says. It's not uncommon to see them fake-fighting too, with fake-chokeholds and all. They are both very focused and serious about their job so they work well together. Sometimes Bai has to work as a "Namsun Translator" but that just shows that they both understand each other well.

Hyeon-ah [Kwon Hyeon | 19 | A1 member]

- Hyeon is a brat, but he's Bai's bratty young brother figure. Bai would have never thought that entering Fantagio would give him a younger brother down the line. Sure, he gets annoyed at the younger sometimes and they can fight and argue, but they always make up in the end. Bai saw the pitiful state Hyeon was in when he joined Fantagio and he took upon himself to guide the lost kid. Bai blames baby pandas. Hyeon has exactly the personality of a baby panda and Bai think baby pandas are adorable so. One thing led to another.

A-Die [Lin Jianhong | 53 | Office Worker]

- Jianhong is quiet and serious and honestly he's a bit awkward. When his son was a small child he didn't knew what to do with his passion for arts, and he relied a lot on his wife on what to do. He had worried that Baiyong's dreams couldn't give him a good future and he kind wished his son would just apply himself in usual subjects and choose a mre common career path. Then his wife died. It hit both father and son hard because she was the heart of the family. Jianhog didn't knew how to deal with Bai without his wife there to guide him, but at the same time he saw how Bai closed himself and stopped to smile and just tried to do the things his father expected of him. Jianhong's heart hurt then. His son only had him now, so he decided he would honor his wife's memory and do his best to support his son. It worked. He never stopped to encourage Bai to keep studing and improving hilself, also for him to have a plan B if things failed. He was obviously worried that Bai stayed so long without being chosen to be part of a group, so when he finally did, he was super happy. He even managed to get the contact of Liling and Yuen and the managers also got friends with him and constantly update Jianhong how his son is doing. Bai loves his father and is very grateful for his support and he wants to succed to make him proud too. Jianhong is always saying to Bai that when their schedule permits, they [A1 and staff] should all come to visit him in Chongqing and he will arrange a big family meal for everyone.

97 Bros [Cha Eunwoo | Xu Minghao | Dong Sicheng]

- Eunwoo and Bai were some of the first trainess Fantagio Music had, and being of the same age they ended bonding. Even when Eunwoo debuted and Bai was "left behind" they still kept their friendship. Years later when the 97 groupchat was born and Eunwoo met The8 and Winwin, he introduced Bai to them, thinking that Bai would be happy to have more chinese friends. And let me tell you, the three of them had a lot to bond over.

Opal - I thought that maybe they could be best friends, or even each other's secret relationship. But it's not up to me to decide haha

[ STAGENAME + REASON ] Bai + It's part of his name and the chinese character used for "Bai" is the one for "Cypress" and Cypress is a tree that represents plentfulness and abundance (that's because it sounds like the same "bai" for 100). So Bai will bring an abundance of talent and success with him. It's also because it sounds similar to "Bye"

[ PREDEBUT EXPERIENCES ] He had years of traditional chinese dance background and then more recently a background in street dance.

[ TRAINEE YEARS ] Bai was recruited by Fantagio in 2012, not long after he moved to S.Korea with a scholarship and when Fantagio Music was just starting. At the beggining it was hard because he was not familiar with the language, but he made some friends both in school and between the trainees that halped him. The most notable was Cha Eunwoo, that was both his classmate and his colleague in Fantagio.

He hand't any problem with the dance part of the training, but he was surprised to find out that he actually had a good voice to sing. With the passing years he became good enough for lead vocal material. He's not a showstopping raw talent in that department, so he took his training seriously.

Rap was something he was curious about because he enjoyed some of the other aspects of Hip Hop culture (more proeminently the street dance). He's not a genius about witty lyrics and good rhymes, but with training and hard work he found out he has he has a good rhytm and good flow.

And let me tell you, he had a LOT of time to perfect what he was already good at and then to learn what he didn't know. When he didn't get chosen to be part of the Astro line-up he got pretty upset and sad. By that point he was as good as any of the other guys and his korean had improved a lot. He even had long blond hair, so he did fit the soft aesthetic they were going for. Till this day he's pretty sure, despite that this was not cleared by any of the higher ups, that he wasn't chosen simply because he was a foreigner. So you can tell that this coused some ressentment. Never against the guys who debuted, because Bai saw how hard they worked, but against the company. From there he kind of started to wear all his achievements in a way to rub in Fantagio's face that they were wasting his talent.

- A1 Internal Trouble? - Through fancams, photos or rumors, it got out that Bai and Bloodstone were not getting along. So to not damage the group's image they (tho mostly Bai probably) had to get over the problem, solve it and get along.

- Is A1's Bai dating his manager? - Because Bai and Liling are friendly openly and there is so many videos of him helping her, some people started to spread the rumors. The company obviously denied and Bai went to his own social medias to also deny it and to say that Liling was like an older sister to him.

[ FANTAGIO EXPERIENCES ] He choreographed some of Astro's dances together with Rocky.

[ IF ORIGINAL MEMBER: HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE NEWEST 7 MEMBER ADDITIONS? ] He tries to be fair, but it would be lying if we say there is no ressentment. Because he spent so long in the dungeons and he feels like he had to  show and prove every last scrap of his talent to get his place in the group, he does feel sour towards the guys that were not part ofthe original formation. To him it's like they got a shortcut. And you can say he feels specially sour towards Bloodstone, that in his opinion came out of nowhere and got the same position as him, a position that he had to fight for. He WILL try to be fair on the new guys, but he won't be easy on them. No slackers are allowed on his team.
