hailing from a wealthy background, yooyoung comes across as a highly privileged and pampered girl, used to only the best things in life. she is admired and feared throughout yongin for her talent, looks, and her influential status. yooyoung comes across as holding dogmatic ideals on absolute culinary perfection. she enjoys a great reputation across the culinary world in yongin for her 'god tongue' which was said to either make or break a chef's career.

much of yooyoung's personality is a result of the abusive training that her father subjected her to in her early childhood. she also developed a deep rooted fear of her father, becoming petrified in his presence and unable to think or do the right thing.

she cannot make friends easily as she looks down on almost everyone. she lacks knowledge on some social conventions. while she detests the idea of romance and showing no interest, she began to like reading shōjo manga to learn more on romance. due to her sheltered background, yooyoung was not used to living on her own, unable to operate a washing machine. and due to being an only child, she tends to clingy towards others when she gets close to them. she likes having people around her because it is hard for her to make friend. so when she found one, she just always wants to be around that someone. it comforts her and she isn't aware that it can be a problem because people can find it annoying.

after defecting to hongsan, yooyoung's perspective on cooking changed. moreover after she met people in 'the hwangs'. she also made new friends. as time goes by, yooyoung comes to care a lot for those she acknowlegde as friends and shared her knowledge with them.

she isn't one to lie. she listens to other's problems without picking sides and helps them out in anyway she can. if someone asks her for opinion, she gives it without lying.

she pays attention to a lot of details whenever she's doing something and by this, she can use such details to form an inspiration. she does this often in the kitchen, exploring all the spices, utensils, and all inputs given by everyone. she scans everyone's feelings whenever they taste her cook. she loves to analyze to all the little detial. it's amazing how much she can process everything happened on the day thoroughly. no wonder she can come up with new and fresh recipe every week since she's heavily influenced by ambience around her that week.

she can't give herself a break. she promised to herself that she'll produce new recipe every week. no matter what happen on that week, she must come up with new recipe. she takes the things that she's passionate about seriously. she works her hardest at being really good at it.

people are always in awe whenever they see her work. she seems like someone else when she's focused. she is skilled, that's undeniable but how she can work in such a graceful way when cooking, is one of her biggest charm.

BACKGROUND.

born into the prestigious da family, yooyoung is gifted with 'god's tongue', the abiliity to accurately judge a food's quality to the highest degree. since her gift became well known, most of her baby food was made by professional chefs to satisfy her incredible tasting abilities.

around at the age of 18, yooyoung's latent talent as a taste tester became apparent and she begun assisting people in the culinary industry, taste testing countless dishes and critiquing them. though she took her role seriously as a member of the da family, she had no passion for cooking at the time. however, things changed when she met this mysterious chef and with just a single bite of the dish, she felt an overwhelming sense of warmth and fun from his dish, a feeling never experienced from any other dish she had tasted before. this giving her the motivation she has for cooking a dish which can provide heavenly sensation like what she ate.

a year after, her father, subjected yooyoung to a particularly brutal regimen, forcing yooyoung to compare foods and determine precise errors in each, then throwing away the inferior dish, even using physical force to prompt her to do so. with time, this training created yooyoung's haughty personality as well as a deep seated fear regarding her father. when her mother know what her husband did to their girl, she quickly divorced him and tried to repair the damage done to her princess. unfortunately, not everything done to yooyoung could be undone.

yooyoung continued to further her cooking and became a prominent figure in the cooking world. unsatisfied by most dishes served to her, she became infamously known throughout the world, as any dish deemed unsatisfactory by her meant the end of anyone's hope of becoming a high class chef. her prodigious skills and renowned fame easily allowed her to be the top of her class.

but even she is aware she is still far from the dish she tasted back when she was younger. the dish which made her love cooking. thus she decided to move away and start over a new life in this small city in hope she can forget every bad thing that already happened in her life and find a way to recreate the dream dish.

LIFSTYLE.

OCCUPATION. the hwang's chef.
CURRENT LIFE. tired of living under her father's shadow, she decided to leave all the fancy things she has in yongin and instead ran away to the small town. yes she brought bunch of money but she was aware she need to work her off if she want to stay alive. lucky enough she was accepted as the hwang's chef. she got a room for herself there which she paid by cutting her salary every month. thanks to the hwangs she got discount.

because she got the first shift in the morning, she usually wakes up early to do prep work. she work from 8 am to 4 pm. only take a break from 12 to 1 pm to take a lunch. she even had her lunch in the kitchen so whenever there's an order come, she'll ready to get the food done. after her working hour over, she usually goes to a pilates class in local studio. after the class ended and she gets her dinner (usually outside because it's boring if she spend her whole life inside the hwangs), she'd back and hang out with the rest of the crew left for the night before going to bed.

weekends leaves yooyoung almost entirely free. she uses this time to prepare her new recipe which will be presented in monday morning. yooyoung also likes to hosting dinners - often with the others the hwangs' crew and later, minho.
STRUGGLES. her father finally can reach her. he says he'll come to the city and drag yooyoung back to yongin by himself. it stress her a lot. she can't stand the abuse yet she feel attached with the people in hongsan. she tries her best to explain about how much she want to stay despite the hardship she face alone here.

another struggle is how she can ask for some help and from who she can get that. yes she is care about the other the hwang's employees, some of the guests, and even some hongsan residents. but at the same time, she is aware she hasn't been really nice towards them. she is the type of person who couldn't express her feelings well either. will they help her to face her father?

last but not least, can yooyoung finally make the dish she has been dream of all these time?

— she laughs. "of course i'll try to not interfere my bad days and personal problem to work. so you don't have to worry about that. i'm good at it. i will also try to find a way to resolve the problems on my own. won't bring any bad luck to the b&b."

— "happiness." she chuckles.

  song finger  + one day minho had to spin around fifteen times and poke his finger on a dot on a game board and to the surprise of everyone, he actually accomplished it. most of yongsan residence who know this called him using this name.

PERSONALITY. minho is an energetic and optimistic boy who has the constant drive to improve his cooking. he is confident in his skills and always seeks to challenge others to prove his abilities and test the limits of his cooking. however, he remains positive and cool under pressure, never backing down and is always constantly thinking and evolving his cooking. minho is also flexible and innovative, able to break away from ordinary procedures to cook dishes, thus allowing him to make his own solutions when he needs to find an edge.

he is not afraid to examine his own deficiencies, and is even eager to learn whatever he needs to in order to overcome them. he will plunge head first into trial and error until he gets to the end results, spending days or even weeks exhausting every possible option until he finds the best one.
BACKGROUND. minho was born to a pair of traditional chef. at the age of six, minho began working in his family's home restaurant. as a kid, minho was interested in cooling and the interest itself motivated him to become a great chef like his parents. while still in elementary school, minho began to cook on his own and made his classmates eat his food, though most cried from the taste. he even began working in the school's cafetaria which surprised most of the chefs working there.

while he assisted his parents in their restaurant when he was twelve, minho created dishes that made it onto the restaurant menu was his part of his training. though his parents said they were tasty, they deemed them not good enough. minho was confused by his parents' rhetorical statement, so his parents explained that even the simplest dishes cannot have a single missing element, as customers at restaurant expect nothing less than extraordinary to satisfy their hearts.

four years ago, his parents were deceased. his determination to improving his cooking skills in order to protect the restaurant became stronger. what is love? he only know how to protect the only things left by his parents.
LOVE STORY. the current hongsan's #1 chef. yooyoung's arch-nemesis who hails from the humble family diner, minho is yooyoung's main rival. yooyoung quickly deemed minho a second-grade cook due to his diner background, and was initially insulted by the man's simplicity of his dish. while yooyoung was impressed by minho's dish, but a mixture of her pride and minho's cocky attitude led her to deny his ability. any mention of minho's name or merely being in his presence would send yooyoung into a state of frustation and anger.

despite yooyoung's hostile behaviour to minho, minho himself showed no hostility towards her, having a one-sided friendly attitude to her. at times though, yooyoung does acknowledge that minho is skilled, though she still views him lower than her due to her pride.

after minho gave her a taste of his true cooking, yooyoung starts to become more friendly to minho, enough to give him personal lessons. she tends to talk more personal things with minho when they're alone and she no longer gets angry when she sees him or when someone mentions his name. she even laughed at some of his antics.

as time goes by, yooyoung seemed to have used minho as inspiration to make a dish through innovation. minho noticed this and about it, only for yooyoung to react defensively. while the two can function as a team, they also tend to clash and -heads. while she will not admit to it, yooyoung realized that she wanted to become a chef like minho who enjoy cooking and making food with pure intention to satisfy the customers, not wanting for acknowledge from anyone.
