APPEARANCE Mina is a fairly tall girl with a slim figure that she got through volleyball training, extensive dancing, workouts and kpop idol diets. As of debut, Mina had short hair in a bob cut with bangs that was dyed medium brown, however it had been dyed several times for comebacks, notable colours were light brown, ash blonde, black, strawberry blonde and pink. Although she initially kept the short hair, it is notably longer than it used to be in Sixteen's most recent comeback where her hair was pink.

ELABORATION Kind : Mina tries to avoid hurting others, instead uplifting them wherever possible. BACKGROUND Mina was born in 1999 to a housewife and a volleyball coach. When Mina started middle school, she ended up in the school where her father was the coach of the volleyball team, and to appease him, joined the volleyball club. Nevertheless, she ended up falling in love with volleyball, and during every training and competitive match, gave her all in it. Thanks to her, the school earned many wins. Mina later became aware that several prestigious overseas universities offered scholarships for school team players, and wanted to go to a university in America. Until she accidentally watched a video on NicoNico called "Aqours First PV", and was instantly captured by the cute anime girls, the upbeat melody and the cheerful lyrics.
Mina later discovered other idol groups, and spent her free time watching their videos and learning their dances, and realised dancing made her happy, somehow happier than volleyball did. Even though she tried to put all her heart into trainings and matches, she just didn't feel it. She wished she was dancing in her room instead, or even on a stage. When she told her parents how she felt, they gave her a compromise. She would spend one year auditioning for companies, and if she didn't get into one, she would continue with her studies as usual and get a scholarship to an American university. Which she did, and she auditioned for several companies. Unfortunately, she was rejected by all the companies in Japan that she auditioned for. Luckily, she had gotten to know about K-pop idols and Korean companies through her schoolmates, as K-pop was gaining traction in Japan due to many groups' Japanese promotions. Mina sent her audition tape to several Korean companies, and eventually Pledis accepted her as a trainee, and she later debuted in the girl group Sixteen in 2019.

• Mina and her parents have always been closed, and as their only child, she has often been showered with lots of love by them. Her father did get a bit angry when Mina said she wanted to try out being an idol, but lucky her mother supported her and eventually coaxed her father into letting her do so. He's still happy for her now, even though she didn't go to university in America and get that scholarship for being on the volleyball team.

TRAINEE LIFE Mina started teaching herself how to dance after she watched Aqours' first PV. As her home was rather small, she would practise in the school hall after school, sometimes even before volleyball trainings. She didn't know what she was doing back then, she just knew she was having fun. But as the days passed and she found herself increasingly wishing she was dancing while she was doing other things, Mina began to wonder if just learning dance for fun would be good enough for her. Which was why she decided to take a gap year after she graduated from high school in April 2015 and audition for companies. Thinking that maybe she really was meant for the idol life, she agreed when Pledis offered her a contract. During her trainee days, Mina tried her best to be the perfect trainee and be friendly and nice to everyone in addition to working hard. However, there were just some trainees she couldn't get along with no matter how hard she tried. Nevertheless, Mina eventually was chosen to debut as a member of Sixteen just a month after she joined, appearing on the show 16TV, because of her earnest passion to be an idol. Even though the show was cancelled abruptly in 2018, Mina did not lose hope. She continued working hard, and trying to form good relationships with her fellow trainees, earning her a spot to eventually debut in Sixteen in 2019.

FIRST MEETING Mina had seen Minghao around Pledis' building since she first became a trainee. Being friendly and outgoing, Mina introduced herself to Minghao when she caught him in the canteen. In contrast, Minghao was rather shy and awkward, and didn't know how to react to the loud Mina. Mina ended up thinking MInghao didn't like her, and when he was introduced as her mentor for Sixteen, she remained very formal with him, unlike how she usually would be with others. Until one day, Minghao asked why she was so awkward, and she confessed straightforwardly that she thought he hated her. He told her that was far from the truth and he wished she could be herself around him, because he loved how outgoing and honest she was. And from then on, she did.
INTERACTIONS Mina and Minghao are a typical boy-girl best friend duo who do everything together. On 16TV, they're known for their banter, and off-camera, they're always fooling around in the Pledis building. People have mistaken them to be secretly dating because of how close they are and their chemistry.
