i need some answers (pls answer my question)

context:

was doing some procrastinating when i turned my head to look out my window and saw this dude walking his dog. dog was sniffing our grass (i was like okay sort of weird) and then walked onto our lawn. my inner monologue went RED ALERT WTF but i kept calm because 1. it was the edge part near the curb and 2. i don't own a dog so i can't be sure if that's normal or not.

then the dude LOOKS at me, and i am looking back because this is my house you know? and he DOES NOT LEAVE??? in my mind i'm blaring fire alarms because i think most ppl would LEAVE. well this dude does NOT and instead he lets his dog sniff around and enter our bushes? and to be fair they're like leafy bushes and i'm thinking maybe there was a cat or smth (we have a neighborhood wandering cat).

the last i saw of him, he and the dog were dawdling around our mailbox (and i REALIZE my wording does not give him credit but to MY credit he was being REAL weird). anyway i lost track of him because i was texting everyone i knew to try to get a ing answer on whether or not this was normal???

responses i've gotten so far:

'yes this is normal' - two ppl have responded saying that they do this with their dog too and plenty of dogs in their neighborhood does it

'no this is weird' - the majority of responses but to be fair they're all my close friends

my question to you:

is this normal?????

and i realize that it's a weird situation considering both dude AND dog but i just wanna know..... like, do i need to creepily stare at him the next time i see him? do i need to tell my parents to keep a lookout for some weird dude with a german shepard? do i gotta idk idk idk pls give me answers LOL

Depending on where you live, rules apply differently. This is a major no. I own a dog and like we avoid him going on the lawn especially the neighbors since the neighbors maintain to their liking. Sometimes I get yelled at to curb the dog even though he's well behaved and walking on the side walk. The fact he went near the mailbox is a huge red flag.

I'd be creeped out too!!! But I also get creeped out at the slightest unexpected rustle or noise outside my house.

Um...not really. Usually people let their dogs do the do at a park (I own a dog, just what I do.)

you probably don't need to be on the lookout lmao unless the dog does its business on your lawn and he doesn't clean it up because that's gross as
