LIFESTYLE 

sumin works as a tattoo artist at a parlor from wednesday to sunday, with mondays and tuesdays as her off-days. if she's lucky, she will have no appointments and no work on sundays as well. monday evenings are also dedicated to aa meetings.

on days that she has to work, sumin wakes up at around half past eight in the morning. she gets ready, eats breakfast with her housemates before leaving for work. it's a thirty minute bus ride to the tattoo parlor. she usually reaches work at ten and gets ready for her appointments. work typically ends around seven or eight, depending on her last appointment and sumin will go out for late dinner with her co-workers and friends. after reaching home, she will wash up and hang out with her housemates for a bit before calling it a night at around midnight or at one.

on her free days, sumin likes to wake up at noon. she will eat lunch with whoever is in the house, or cook something for herself. if she's not hanging out with her friends, she will stay in and spend time alone. she's usually watching movies or a drama series. in the evenings, she usually meets her friends for a meal. when she doesn't have work the next day, sumin sleeps at around two or three.

1992 lee baekhyun is born the second child in bucheon, south korea. 

1999 baekhyun begins training in hapkido.

2011 baekhyun enters yonsei university and majors in education. he moves to seoul.

2013 after his second year, baekhyun enlists in the military.

2015 baekhyun is discharged from the military. he goes back to university.

2017 baekhyun graduates from yonsei university. he becomes a preschool teacher.

 

LOVE STORY

"nice to meet you, i'm her boyfriend."

kang sumin and lee baekhyun first met in august of 2019, in seoul national university hospital. sumin was hospitalized for alcohol poisoning (for the second time) and baekhyun's then girlfriend was sharing the same ward as her. over the few days, the two girls talked to each other a lot, which meant that sumin and baekhyun naturally got to know each other whenever he came to visit. 

 

"yeah... we broke up."

fast forward to february of 2020 and baekhyun stepped foot into imagines tattoo studio. he was looking for minjun to get his first ever tattoo. sumin had immediately recognized him, and him too, and the two struck up a conversation as he was getting inked. it was then that sumin found out that baekhyun broke up with his girlfriend. their conversation progressed so naturally that they continued to talk even after his tattoo was done. eventually, they went for drinks together with minjun.

 

"text me when you get home."

soon, one text led another, daily conversations led to small phone calls, which led to sumin and baekhyun hanging out on their free days. it was a very natural progression of things and it wasn't long before sumin knew that she might be feeling something a little more for him. texting, calling and talking baekhyun makes her feel like a teenager all over again. 

 

"i wanted to marry her, really."

the only problem was, baekhyun got back with his ex. at first, sumin thought that perhaps she still stood a chance against her. but a month passed, then two, then three. sumin was almost about to forget about her feelings for him, when a phone call at two in the morning came in. it was baekhyun, drunk and alone, and asking for company; sumin wasted no time in hailing a cab down to his apartment. an hour and two soju bottles later, she found out that his girlfriend cheated on him.

 

"we're just good friends."

sumin thought she didn't like him anymore, but when baekhyun bore his heart out to her that night, she realized: she was never quite over him. lee baekhyun, with his confident yet bashful, loud yet attentive aura, was something that sumin could never find herself escaping from.

in november of 2020, sumin got hospitalized for the third time for alcohol poisoning, again. this time, baekhyun was by her side. that night, when sumin screamed to be released from her hospital bed, to be given a drink, tears falling down her eyes, baekhyun witnessed it all. the next day, she felt as though the entire world was against her, but he was the one to convince her otherwise. he sat next to her, promised that he wouldn't leave, and eventually convinced her to seek help. 

 

"i'm falling for... her?"

skinship comes very naturally to baekhyun. of course, it confuses sumin to no end. does he like her back? to her, it seems as though he acts that way to everyone; she's no one special. but little does she know, baekhyun has been growing a small crush on her as well. it was a slow burn on his part, but with each day that he spent with her, he only found himself catching feelings for her.

but neither of them have confessed to each other, perhaps too afraid of a possible rejection, or too afraid of ruining their friendship. sumin reasons, they're too different at this point in time. he's a preschool teacher for god's sake and she is still trying to resolve her ing alcohol problem. either way, they are both quiet about their own feelings and decide to keep it that way for this point in time. they both know that they consider each other a very special and close friend but anything more than that? they're both absolutely clueless. clueless, but in love.
