Gayoung has a mysterious aura around her, a mystique that shrouds every silence on vlive and every seductive gaze she send the camera. She seems unattainable, untouchable. The kind of idol meant for worship, not going to the mall with. The new and improved Park Miyeon, the kind that wouldn't even think of running away.
The "mystique" isn't really mysterious at all, truth be told. More like a combination of natural shyness and initial awkwardness. And of course the fact that Gayoung has been living with the pressure of being the next Miyeon for all her trainee time, only now being the next Miyeon is bad so she needs to be all the things that made Miyeon Miyeon, while also being all the things that didn't make Miyeon... Miyeon. Gayoung's sense of professionalism tells her she needs to do that because she can't let her company down. But everyone around her - from netizens to talkshow hosts to the backup dancers and stylists to the members themselves - all tell her how similar she is to Miyeon, and it scares her to death. It scares Gayoung to the point where the moment a camera is on every move needs to be  calculated, carefully planned in order to not make any mistakes. On stage, she only needs to perform, and there she can be charismatic. But everywhere else? on TV? She struggles to show her personality and charm  because she's so careful, and ends up not talking much at all.
The comparison has followed Gayoung since the moment she entered Circle Media. Sungwoon, Youngsun, each and every staff, even Park Miyeon herself, they have all had their hands in her creation, molding her like clay and shaping her to be another Miyeon to bring in the cash, since the first one has done so well. And it helped that they were already somewhat the same - same skill for working the camera, same captivating gaze, same pretty visuals that would work on a billboard just as well as on stage. Same dedication to the craft, same desire to excel and do the absolute best, work to the bone until the dance is perfected and the high note is reached without any strain.
Gayoung always tackles each task with all her might. Anything she has to do, she needs to be the best at it. Even if it's something she doesn't really think is worth the time, she can't help it. Her desire for perfection is mixed with her dedication to learn and improve, with a dash of "positive" reinforcement from the company conditioning to always meet the (sometimes insane) expectations set by them. So she needs to learn a choreography in 24 hours? no problem, she won't sleep until the recording to get it right. She needs to lose 7 kilograms to reach the perfect 45? a month of cleansing juices will get her there. She needs to get an A on her math test next week? She'll just try to solve all the questions in her textbook. And if she needs to do both together? She'll just do it. There's no prioritizing for Gayoung, everything needs to be perfect and everything will be. Only she is just a human, and she can't split herself in three, and none of those will be as perfect as she wants (even if it's fine for others, even if the company got the performance they wanted and don't care for the slight mistake no one would ever notice) and she will blame herself for it.

But everyone forgot Gayoung was never Miyeon in the first place. She didn't use to look like her before they started styling her to resemble her. She never was effortless, only fake enough to pass it. They wanted a cardboard version of Miyeon, and cardboard they got - Gayoung will never bring in variety money like Miyeon did. She'd never charm anyone with her quick wit. They wanted to make a perfect Miyeon, and Gayoung is perfect. She might dance better, might sing better, but Miyeon was human. Gayoung is not.

Gayoung is awkward. Gayoung really isn't perfect in any way. She takes time coming up with a clever retort, and it's never as clever as she'd like. She gets too emotional and can't hold her tears well and always wants to talk about her feelings but is always scared so she tries to mask it with nonchallance that doesn't fool anyone. She worries too much about her weight and her face is too long for her nose!

She gets offended easily and instead of getting angry she whines about it constantly. She gets into arguments with other members and then apologizes a few hours later with bubble tea. She considers treats everyone as family and tries helping everyone with expressions and dance moves even though she absolutely at teaching. she snorts loudly when she laughs and her face is ridiculously ugly when she cries, snot coming out of everywhere. She cares too much about everything and she tries so much. She is so, so, so scared about the world and what other mights think of her, and that's why she tries to not be Gayoung, but to be an idolizied, perfect version of Miyeon - except now Miyeon isn't perfect which means there's all the more reasons to be scared.

She is terribly human when the cameras are turned off, and it's a million times more charming than anything CM has trained her to be. Too bad no one gets to witness it.
History

Pre-trainee:
Gayoung started training when she was around the age of thirteen, so she really didn't get to experience middle school and onward properly. In Elementary, she was a nice enough kid but never really focused much on studying, instead enjoying playing with other classmates and running around. The idea to become an idol came to her around the age of twelve, and it came out of blue like the biggest obsession all preteens go to at some point. Instead of vampires or werewolves, it was idols. And Gayoung wanted to be just like them. Going on auditions was easy enough since she lived in Seoul, and so after whining for hours on end her mother took her to a couple of agencies who had rejected her until CM saw a potential in her (read: a very slight resemblence to Miyeon, a confidence on stage, and a potential at vocals) and casted her.

Trainee:
Gayoung didn't have a lot of experience with professional singing/dancing lessons before becoming a trainee, and this part proved to be really hard. But she had a natural knack for picking up what she was taught, and the perfectionism and dedication to practice it until perfection. She tried to keep up with her schoolwork too, but it blew up in her face and she her scores are... bad (something she's regretful of to this day, despite not being interested in school whatsoever). After graduating, training has become slightly less stressful because she had less things to juggle, but also a lot more stressful because the extra free time went straight back into practice. After finishing school she moved to the CM dorms to be closer to the company, and despite living in Seoul, she'd barely seen her family since. Which Gayoung tries to justify by the fact that she's lost 7 additional kilograms without her mother and brother's fantastic cooking.
The Idol:
Stage Name: Gaya
Talent Twin: Everglow's Mia
Future Aspirations:
Karina really wants to stop feeling like she's walking on eggshells. She wants to enjoy her job and she wants to relax a little and enjoy. she also really really wants to be knowna as Gaya, not as Miyeon.

more practical stuff: ISAC is something she always looked forward to and is very curious about. She's also really looking forward to holding a concert since it allows her to show her charm through performing and interacting with fans through that rather than variety/signing events where she gets awkward.
Relationships

family - Gayoung's family consists of her father, mother, and younger brother. Her mother (Sohee) is a teacher while her father (Taehyun) owns a cafe, and her younger brother (Chanyoung) has recently begun high school, really wants to become a streamer, and can't wait to use his sister for clout. her parents, on the other hand, aren't as enthusiastic about Gayoung's career choice giving the recent burning sun scandal.

kim sungwon and nam youngsun - for better or worse, Gayoung was all but raised by sungwon and youngsun since she came into CM. they are the ones who, with the help of Miyeon, molded her into what they thought was the perfect performer. so while they gave her a lot - from an opportunity at a career to immense skill training - they also ed up her sense of identity quite a bit. still, Gayoung respects their authority and tries to appease them. She loves them and is terrified they only see her as Miyeon's replacement and/or another potential scandal in the making. she's intent on proving them wrong on both accounts, but her fear of doing so keeps her from achieving the potential they set for her. so she's in a bit fo a pickle.
park miyeon - Gayoung loves Miyeon like the older sister she never had. whenever Miyeon had the time, she would always come to the company to mentor the younger girl, and they formed a very strong bond. Gayoung is very happy Miyeon is happy, but also can't help the tiny pang of heartbreak and betrayal over the fact that Miyeon has not only abandoned her but also left her in this situation.
park ilsung - he used to be the big brother Gayoung looks up to. the one who would pet her on the head and congratulate her on a job well done. the one she would dance for so he can give her tips to improve. then it turned out he would share nudes of girls her age for his sick entertainment. Gayoung has cut off all contact. Sometimes when she can't fall asleep at night he would pop into her head and she'd wonder if eventually he'd do that to her too.
omni - Gayoung trained with most (if not all) of Omni, and they are all familiar with each other and on good terms. Gayoung is especially close to both Dohyun and Jaeseok - Dohyun is always there to cheer her up and hype her up and is the one she usually comes to when she's feeling down and needs someone to talk to. With Jaeseok, on the other hand, she bickers a lot and gets into a lot of arguments over nothing, but they would kill for each other - only they are allowed to insult each other, no one else.
love interest - park woojin

With Miyeon, came Woojin. First, as a trainee, coming in a few years after Gayoung, tagging along with his sister for extra training (and maybe, just maybe, looking at the pretty girl). He would always stay up after Miyeon left, and Gayoung would always train with him before inviting him over to dinner, or out for some bubble tea.
Basically, Gayoung has been in love with him since she was roughly sixteen. Woojin doesn't know what he's feeling about anything anymore.
They had a budding relationship before, never coming near starting dating but the , the romantic teasing, the longing eyes and stolen "innocent" touches were always there. So were the stollen kisses, first because "I just want to see what it would feel like" and then again and again. But never more. Gayoung wants more. Woojin doesn't know.
Woojin has been hurt by Miyeon. His career was hurt because of her, and his family was hurt because of her. She was his sister and she wasn't supposed to bring him pain, and yet she did and he can't forget her for it.
And then there is her spitting image, the girl he saw being molded into another Miyeon. And this Miyeon might also hurt him, and Woojin can't handle any more pain.
But this girl is also Gayoung, and it's the girl who snorts when she laughs and stammers after he teases her, trying to come up with something clever and ending up with an adorably lame retort. It's Gayoung and he knows he feels for her, but he can't shake off his big sister.
So they're super awkward at the moment. They know they're into each other, but both are very reluctant. Woojin can't help seeing Miyeon in her, and neither can Gayoung since dating is exactly what caused Miyeon's scandal to begin with and she doesn't want to do anything that would hurt them. Gayoung really wants to talk about her feelings, but Woojin wants to ignore them until they're not there anymore. So everything is awkward and she just wants their friendship back despite knowing that no way in hell can they go back to what they used to because she also really really wants to smooch him. So things are Complicated.

Ending: I want them to be happy ;A; either as a couple or as friends, whatever you see fit! and if you find someone who has a jucy chemistry with Gayoung I'm also super down for that! Basically here have some angst, but I'm also not opposed to any other matchmaking you have <3 Write whatever you like~

The moment Jaeseok passed her with his overly confident stride, Gayoung knew what was going to happen.
She stood next the Omni boys and crossed her arms. "Again? Really?"
"Yup!" said Dohyun.
"Do you think she'll smack him this time?"
"We can only hope." grumbled Sihoo.
"Hey, you never know!" Dohyun protested weakly. "Maybe Jaeseok knows something we don't - aaand she threw the drink on the ground."
Gayound watched him rush into the training room, where Kang Nanhee seemed to be one second before ripping a new into Jaeseok buttcheeks.
"I mean, what did he expect, that girl barely even talks to us, and we're her groupmates." she huffed.
"Still, it's not cool that she talks to him like that."
Gayoung rolled her eyes. "It's Jaeseok. He probably deserves it."
"Aren't you guys like best buds?" Sihoo raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, I love him. He's still an ."
"Hey, Sihoo, we need to be on our way to music bank already - is that iced coffee Dohyun and Jaeseok cleaning in the trainee room?"
And then there was Park Woojin, walking towards them with a concerned look on his perfectly perfect face. Gayoung perked up.
"Don't forget Kang Nanhee." said Sihoo, "I wonder what they're doing there together."
Woojin, it seemed, didn't. "Yeah I'm going to turn around and go back to reception. And you tell Jaeseok and Dohyun to be by the car in fifteen minutes."
Without sparing her more than a single, rushed glance, Woojin turned around.
Gayoung took off after him. "Oppa!"
Woojin slowed down only a fraction. "Gayoung?"
"Hi."
"... Hi."
God, she hated everything about this. "How's Miyeon-unnie doing?"
"You tell me," Woojin's voice lost his casualness for a moment, a strainess in his tone that Gayoung wouldn't have noticed if she didn't know Woojin inside and out. "You probably talked to her more than I did. Is she still in Canada?"
"Um, yeah... "
"Well, that's good to hear. Now, I have to be going-"
The words came out of her lips before she could stop them. "Oppa, can we meet sometime?"
Woojin's tensed. "Gayoung..."
"I just feel like - you know, we need to talk, and I want to clear the air because I feel like everything's wrong right now."
"Everything's fine though!"
"Oh, come on, don't give me that bull oppa! We need to have a conversation and I'm not leaving you alone until we do."
He looked at her right then. "You really are so much like Miyeon-unnie..."
And just like everytime, her heart broke into a million little pieces.
"Uh huh," she was trying to hold the tears in, but she was Gayoung, and this was Woojin. "I'm gonna go now."
"Wait, Gayoung, I didn't mean it like that!"
"Oh yeah, how did you mean it then?"
"I only meant..." he started, before shaking his head. "I don't know. I don't know anything."
"Me neither. But at least I'm trying."
Woojin sighed, deeply and heavily, and looked at her with something in his eyes Gayoung couldn't decipher. She really didn't know, either. She didn't know anything. His gaze sent dreaded butterflies crawling down her spine. "Okay. Let's talk."
-------
bonus:
"YAH! SEO SIHOO!"
Sihoo barely had time to turn around before an angry finger almost smacked him on the nose. Behind it, a very angry Yoo Gayoung leered.
"Noona, what the ."
"What did you do to Kang Nanhee!?"
"What!? I didn't do anything!"
"Don't you lie to me! Every time she sees you she goes white! What. Did. You. Do."
"Nothing! I only told her she was mean to Jaeseok!"
The galre Gayoung sent him could've killed a lesser man. If Sihoo would've been a lesser man, he would've taken a step back.
"You watch your , Seo Sihoo. You watch your ."

I was wondering if you might like to collab with Alyson, since she's determined to make the "Circle '00 line" a thing so Gayoung would get dragged in if they're both picked? Plus she's already closest to Dohyun and Jaeseok in Omni so :D (I am sorry for this word vomit it is late and I am super brain dead rn skdhfls OTL)
