Yang Hyeonyi is hot and boy does she know it. She's one of those teenagers for whom life has always been easy. She was always pretty and cute and gregarious and in love with attention. At family gatherings she would go around all the uncles with her aegyo and endeared herself to her grandmothers with all her sweetness. In school she was an unproblematic popular girl, the kind all the boys would confess to and she would turn them all down because Yang Hyeonyi had no time for romance, she was in for greater things.
Hyeonyi's confidence is sky-high, the kind of complete naive belief in one's self of someone who has never had her skills or personality or looks be meaningfully challenged in any way. She's one of those people who is annoyingly good at the things she sets out to do, and when she isn't she still believes she is anyway. She has a decent voice trained to carry fairly well so of course Hyeonyi is convinced that she's a fantastic main vocal and definitely not chosen because they were still looking for a truly stellar vocalist but were pushed to debut the group early. Sure, Hyeonyi can get a bit petty in that childish ways when people don't like her, but she never goes out of her way to lord her own perfect life success over others. Hyeonyi lives for the attention and the validation, if the spotlight isn't already on her she will find a way to get it on top. She's not even manipulative about it or anything, it all just comes completely natural to her. Truly, Hyeonyi doesn't even know she's doing at as she managed to get the dance teacher's focus from praising Woonseollim to praising her with a smile and a little comment.

Pre-trainee: Hyeonyi was born in one of those smaller cities in Korea nobody really talks about to a middle-class family nobody has any reason to talk about. She's an only child, doted and spoiled rotten, living a life of easy as she smiled and winked and aegyod herself into everyone's good graces. At school she was used as an example of a polite student who tried her best and always helped clean the room afterwards like a little - (even when her grades were mediocre at best). She would be the one with the most chocolate every single white day, just as she gave out customary chocolate every valentine's day. But Hyeonyi had no interest in boys, girls, or dating. No, Hyeonyi was only interested in being loved and adored by as many people as possible.
She was 11 when she first started to go to auditions, and she was still 11 when she smiled and winked and aegyod her way into Circle Media.

She practices over and over again so something is perfect and when the variety show comes around she's still too afraid of messing up to show it off.

She has Kim Sungwon wrapped around her finger. He truly sees in her exactly what she sees in herself. Even when he became more hands off a few years after Hyeonyi started training he still made clear that she was the ace up their sleeve. She was the future star. The favouritism is so incredibly strong with this one.
Yongsun is a little less wrapped around, though she also sees a pretty girl who so easily pulls all eyes towards her. Hyeonyi is so incredibly easy to sell.

Mostly she's never really needed anyone else and has had mostly shallow friendships and hype (wo)men because her life has been a cake walk so who cares? It would be nice if, when her life stops being easy, she could learn the value of true supportive friendships. And maybe even love, who knows?

Really she was mostly inspired by Aespa's debut and how Karina was so incredibly pushed but I mostly hear people talking about Winter now. Or how companies often push a specific trainee but popularity can't be calculated. Have fun with her!
