❧ She and Changhyun grew up together. They've always been friends, neither remember a day when they weren't thick as thieves.
❧ born during the dawn of men, though she doesn't remember when; all she remembers are battles, bodies in the dirt, broken and bloodied and awaiting eternal life
❧ Dal used to aid in the selection of the dead that would return to Valhalla (and those that would go to Fólkvangr with Freyja)

❧ eventually, she chose to leave her service of Odin and Valhalla and wander, part of her hoping to prevent such needless deaths, part of her hoping to just find somewhere.
❧ even then, Sol stuck by her side. and for many centuries, they wandered, watching the world shift and change. eventually, Dal and Sol would be torn apart, losing each other in the second great war
❧ they were on the same side, but Dal's refusal to watch innocents die led her to the infiltration of various Nazi camps where she attempted to free as many captive jews, roma, etc as possible
❧ (Sol, meanwhile, fought on the front line with American and French forces, taking on the battle in his own way)
❧ it was during one of her stints in one such camp that Dal met Ciaran, who, despite being a demon and prone to chaos and evil, was doing his own part to help captive and ease thier suffering
❧ after the war, after Ciaran resettled at Daeghoul, Dal eventually followed him
❧ she chased rumors through the years in search of Sol and, in the early 2000s, she found him. Sol wasn't ready to settle again, not yet, not when he felt he was doing good on the front lines again, so she waited, biding her time until, midsummer 2019, Sol contacted her
❧ "I heard what happened. Are you okay?" / "My children, Changhyun. They took one of my children, they killed him under my own nose." / "Wait for me, Dal. I'm coming home."
❧ Sol arrived days later, and before the start of July, he'd been interviewed by Jinhwa and Dal both, vetted thoroughly, and inducted into the campus security force.

❧ He and Dalrae grew up together. Despite her being a Valkyrie and him a gryphon, he admired her tenacity and confidence, and he often followed her onto the battlefield after the silence fell to bring the fallen home.
❧ When she chose to leave, he didn't hesitate to follow, eager to see the world and discover a new home. After all, wherever she went, he wanted only to be by her side.
❧ in WW2, they were seperated as they went about helping protect and prevent unnecessary death in their own way
❧ while Dal infiltrated concentration camps to organize escapes and accidental "misplacement of captives", Sol went to the front lines, partially to take out eveil-doers and those with cruelty in their hearts, and partially to protect those that believed in freedom
❧ and partially to help as many get away and to freedom as possible
❧ he lost Dal for a while, got lost in different wars and conflicts, always following his ideals, protecting those that couldn't protect themselves
❧ he knew Dal wans't dead, knew in his soul, but he wasn't reayd to settle yet
❧ and then in early 2000s, she found him. Dal didn't press for Sol to come home, justw aited while he continued his mission.
❧ and then in summer of 2019, Sol heard about the death of Lian, a student at Daeghoul -- one of Dal's students -- and he knew it was time to return home
❧ he stepped on campus knowing Dal would find him a job somewhere, whether as a teacher (he had no degree, but he was qualified enough in history and languages, right?), but was suprrised to find that she'd secured him a position as her second-in-command in the security force for Daeghoul
❧ despite Dal being the one with the final say normally, Jinhwa was the one to interview and vet Sol (though he later admitted that Dal hard-vouched for Sol and claimed that he was the only other person she trusted to protect her students like she would)
