LET'S REKINDLE ! SEOYEON

Seoyeon's defining struggle has two parts: one, the impostor syndrome she's had for so long but hasn't been able to confront, and two, the push and pull between what she wants and what her family wants. There's something so difficult about walking the line as both a girl and as the eldest child in her family. She has to set the example, and it weighs down on her - she never feels like she's enough. No matter what she achieves, no matter the competitions she wins or the grades she gets, she always pulls herself down - No, Seoyeon, you're not the best. You might be better than average, but you'll never be the best. You need to keep working. though this keeps her humble, it also hurts - though her mind might know she's good, her heart doesn't let her comprehend it. This leads into the problem of what she wants versus what her parents want. In high school, it wasn't too much of an issue - her stem interests aligned with her parents' expectations and she did very well academically and in her extracurriculars. But now that she's weighing her options, deciding what to do - medical school? graduate school? Stay in the workforce? - it's become increasingly difficult for her to figure out what she thinks will fulfill her life (Will she even be able to live a fulfilling life?). Seoyeon wants to help people, she always has, but how will she do it? How can she do it? Is there a way to balance the finances of her brother's undergraduate education with her parents pushing her to apply for medical school? Is there a way to achieve her goal of helping people without going into crippling debt? Is she even capable of making something of herself? Seoyeon can feel the time of her 20s ticking away with every minute that passes, and she knows she has to make a decision. It's just so hard to make the right one, the one that will make everyone happy in the end.

Stray kids may not be a kpop group in this fic (esp since I've used them as fcs lol), but their song 'grow up' keeps seoyeon going. idk if you want to give it to some other group or just keep it as a random song seoyeon likes, but she's listened to it for years whenever things get tough. It gives her hope :)

PERSONALITY To most, Seoyeon can come off as a little cold, a little standoffish. It's not like she's an ice queen or anything. It's just that she doesn't enjoy talking about herself too much - it just makes her feel awkward, like what the hell? What am i supposed to talk about? My grandma with Alzheimer's? She just doesn't talk often when she doesn't have something to say. What makes matters worse is that she has a pretty commanding presence even when she's silent, so when she is silent... well, it's like there's a void of space in the conversation waiting to be filled. Really, she's just not into a lot of the pop culture things that people reference a lot, like celebrities in the news or whatever. Because she doesn't share interests (not that she has anything against that stuff - she just... doesn't care), she doesn't talk all that much when people bring things up. Some people just judge from that. Beyond that, though, Seoyeon can be hella funny if she wants to be, cracking snarky jokes with the squad and roasting her friends every chance she gets. She loves to laugh, she really does - when Taehyung tells a joke, she almost always laughs the hardest - it's just that most people don't usually stick around to give her a reason to.

Seoyeon makes an effort to stay down to earth, almost to the point that it used to annoy her classmates when she outwardly worried about exams or competitions. She couldn't help it - she really was worried about everything - it's just that people saw her pass with flying colors all the time and didn't realize she worried her off over every single test. It's the impostor syndrome at work, she jokes, but even when she makes fun of it, it never feels like a joke to her. Feeling like she isn't enough has become a regular thing for her at this point - though she's learned not to outwardly show her worries so much since high school, that doesn't mean the thoughts don't eat away at her from the inside.

But onto some happier things! Seoyeon is always down for a little adventure (as long as it doesn't get her into trouble, ha), which is half the reason why she and Tae got so close. On that note, she would do anything for her friends, even sneak out of her house at midnight to sit on the swings at the nearby park and reminisce over better times. When Seoyeon gets close to someone, she's loyal to them unless they break her trust (and thankfully, very few have done that so far). She isn't too self-sacrificing - she certainly knows her limits - but sneaking out every so often? Giving a hug? Buying a coffee when she knows they're not having a good day? It's little things like this that help Seoyeon make lasting friendships. She's detail-oriented, notices the small stuff (can be a bit of a perfectionist sometimes, sigh), and uses these traits to help her friends to the best of her ability.

She also loves chaos, despite being more of an introvert than an extrovert. The Daegu squad was always able to bring out her wilder side, able to make her laugh more and yell more whenever they were around. She's endlessly appreciative of them for helping her open up to the world a bit more and for making her feel more comfortable throughout the hell that was high school. Still, though, there are times when she has to recharge after being outside in a crowd for too long. Catch her drowning in pillows and blankets after a long night of interaction *throws peace signs*

Just for funsies: Seoyeon was an ISTJ-T when she last took the MBTI personality test! She's well-aware that the Meyer-Briggs test is more or less psychological bs, but it's fun :) She's also a cross between a Slytherin and Ravenclaw (don't ask her to choose, she'll bite your head off <3)

BACKGROUND Seoyeon had a pretty unassuming childhood, really. She was born in NYC, her mom was a software engineer at a company and her dad was a professor. When she and her younger brother were children, her maternal grandparents also lived with them, taking care of the kids until they moved back to Korea when Seoyeon was seven and her brother was five. Every summer, her family would visit Korea, which is probably where the pressures of being the eldest child started - all of her cousins were younger than her, and she sometimes caught the aunt she didn't like talking about how it would've been better if Seoyeon was born a boy instead. For a long time, she was pretty awkward with her oldest male cousin (will get more into this in the relationships!) because of that. Anyway, she always progressed well in school, helping her brother whenever he was struggling (Eric wasn't as academically adept as Seoyeon, sadly), and she was on track to go to one of the best public high schools in NYC when her grandmother, who'd slowly been suffering from dementia over the years, suddenly took a turn for the worse and her family had to pack up and move to Korea. It was really difficult for Seoyeon, suddenly having her dreams of attending high school with her friends snatched away, but she found solace in the Daegu friend group and they gave her the support she needed throughout the pressures of family and academia, never letting her go even when her grandmother died in her third year. For that, she's eternally grateful. Moving on from then, Seoyeon was accepted to university in Seoul, where she double majored in computer science and biology. She's since returned to Daegu because she found a job there, and she's currently working as she makes up her mind on whether she wants to pursue a higher education (and possibly drain her and her family's finances) or remain in the workforce. Seoyeon's in desperate need of a break from her own head, even if she doesn't know it - and Tae's coming around just in time to provide.

DAILY LIFE Seoyeon lives by a relatively strict routine. She gets up at 6:30 am every weekday without fail for her job at a local pharmaceuticals company (she does biotech research!). She gets off of work at 5:00 pm each day unless she's got the day off or her boss lets her out a bit early, and she either goes out with a few work friends for dinner or returns to her apartment for the rest of the night, depending on how busy she is and how she feels. In her free time, Seoyeon likes to browse through Netflix and try out a new K-drama every so often. She has commitment issues to shows, though, so she rarely, if ever, actually finishes a whole show LMAO. The few she's finished are the ones she watches on stay at home dates with Jacob, her boyfriend :) She also loves going on YouTube and watching her favorite comedians (John Mulaney is a godsend), and she's an avid listener of K-pop (thanks, Tae) so she sometimes watches compilations of her favorite idols being dumb :D (oh and let's not forget, she LOVES run bts). Besides that, though, Seoyeon loves to read and play the piano. When she moved back to Daegu, her parents let her take the upright Yamaha she's played on since she was a child to her apartment. Sometimes, the nice old lady downstairs brings her baked goods in appreciation for her playing :D. She always tries to free up time every week or every other week for a date with her boyfriend - they either just chill at one of their apartments (they've been discussing moving in together, but Seoyeon doesn't want to make the decision until she's decided if she wants to go to med/grad school), or they go out to a cafe or something and take a walk! Seoyeon might also take her free time to catch up with her younger brother, Eric, or visit her parents (though that happens less often now, because they keep pressuring her to make a decision about her life soon and Seoyeon is not in the right headspace for that). Besides all this, she tries to find time to exercise every weekend and on some weekdays, either doing yoga videos at home or running in a nearby park.

introduce yourself. Hello hello, my name's Yoon Seoyeon, though you can call me Lilia if that's easier for you! Hope you're doing well :)

describe your current lifestyle. are you satisfied with it? Well, there are always things to be dissatisfied with, aren't there? I'd say I'm in a stable situation at the moment - I work as a biotech researcher at a pharmaceuticals company - and I certainly make enough to keep myself fed and happy. I also have a boyfriend who I really think might be the one. *smiles slightly, but with true happiness* He's always been there for me when I need him. Still not so sure if I'm living the dream, though. I'm currently trying to figure out whether or not I want to pursue a higher education, because  that 's expensive, but, well. We don't need to get into that. I wouldn't say I'm upset with my situation, I guess. There are a lot of good things in my life, and I could say I'm happy most of the time, even if I wish some worries would go away. But isn't that how it always is?

how do you deal when life gets hard, if indeed you do? Heh. I've got a bad habit of biting my nails to the nailbed, if that counts as a coping mechanism. I've been trying to get rid of that for years, but whenever I get nervous or stressed... well, yeah. I don't know about any more specific coping mechanisms. I think I usually just cry if I need to (out of sight of other people, if possible), and then I pick myself up and say I just need to get through this. Just this. *shrugs slightly* It gets a little tiring sometimes when I ask myself 'how many more 'just thises' do I need to get through?' but no one has the answer to that, do they?

if you're comfortable, share a little about those hardships. Well, if you don't mind me getting really depressing, I can spill a bit. I don't know what I want to do. I think that what I've wanted has coincided with what my parents wanted for so long that now, when our ideal paths have finally split, I just... I'm a bit lost. They want me to go to medical school, which I'm pretty sure I could do. I just don't know if I want to go into debt for another four years of education, what with my brother still in undergrad, and well. . Who am I kidding? I don't even think medical school is the way I want to go, I can't deal with blood or cadavers. I wouldn't say no to a Masters or a PhD in either biology or computer science, I could probably get a scholarship or something and I would actually like to continue my education. If I could get into a decent grad school, I think I'd be happy with that. I guess I'm just trying to figure out my place in the world, really. That's all it boils down to.

what's one characteristic of yours that you wouldn't want your child to inherit?  Oh, please, let any and all children of mine NOT inherit my self-consciousness. It's crippling and I hate it and I just want them to know that they will always be enough. Living with impostor syndrome just beats me in the ing head all the ing time. I want them to be confident in themselves, always - not overconfident, of course, but I want them to know that they are who they are and they should be proud of it. Did that even make sense?

do you miss high school? what's one of your favorite memories? High school was SUCH a ride. At the time I thought I hated it, but wow, thinking back... I definitely miss some of it. I really do. Besides the fact that my parents and I agreed on most things regarding my life so there wasn't that conflict... things were simpler then. I only had to worry about grades, really and maybe some personal drama every so often. There are definitely moments I don't want to relive, but God, there were so many good memories, too. Hm. There's one moment I remember very, very clearly, when I went to support Tae at the Bighit audition and we found out that he was the only one who made it. That was a good time. It turned kind of bittersweet after that because we knew he'd have to leave, but I was - and still am - so proud of him.

what's one thing you wish you knew back then? People change. Knowing that... it would've saved me a lot of trouble. I've been pretty naive for most of my life, thinking people would work hard and stay as sweet or as mean or as whatever they were when I knew them. But people change, they really do. You might have friends with whom you laugh and cry for years, but once you separate, you don't speak to them again. *sigh* Look, I don't really know where I'm going with this, but life changes people. I wish I'd realized that earlier and known that some people would drift... drift away. I used to be a little upset that the Daegu squad didn't stay in contact too much, but now I realize that's just kind of a part of life. It's just that I think I'm a very loyal person, loyal to those I care for, even if I cared for them a long time ago. It's hard to let that go, for me. That's all.

how do you feel about the reunion? what was your reaction to the letter? how are you handling logistics? This has Kim Taehyung stamped all over it, don't even TRY to tell me otherwise. *wry smile* It feels impossible, but, well, Tae was always about doing the impossible. It might be difficult for him to pull this off, but I wouldn't put it past him to get it done. Logistics are fine - I live in Daegu and I've got vacation days galore, so it wouldn't be too bad even if I had to travel a little (by a little, I mean to like, Seoul or something. I do NOT have the money to fly to Canada or whatever). I'm really pretty excited - I haven't seen a lot of the og squad in a long time, but I will admit I'm a bit stressed. If there's anything I've learned from high school, it's that people change, and what if they've changed? I certainly have. What if we don't click anymore?

what will you be looking forward to the most if you do accept the invitation? Can't wait to see the squad again, hands down. I want to know where everybody is and what they're doing! I hope they've all been well.

thank you for your time. hope you can come out to the reunion! you can bet on it :)

RELATIONS

@

FAMILY.

~ Eric Youngjae Yoon | younger brother | 21 | fc: The Boyz Eric | junior in college studying physics and dance | Though Eric may be a little sometimes, Seoyeon is endlessly grateful for her younger brother's presence in her life. He's always been someone who can make her laugh, even in the darkest of times, and Seoyeon can confidently say that Eric is her rock, despite being two years younger than her (Eric, if asked, will say the same). The siblings have comforted each other through so much - the crushing expectations of their family throughout high school, the heartbreaking process of their grandmother succumbing to Alzheimer's - and even though they've had their arguments, they would do anything for each other. Seoyeon often helped Eric study in middle school and high school (and sometimes even in college), and she even helped him learn to love science enough that he took a physics major along with dance.

~ Yoon Sowon and Yoon Jaehyun | mother and father | 55 and 56 | fc: n/a | software engineer and professor | Sowon and Jaehyun love their children, really - it's just that they sometimes think they know the absolute best for them, and that can be overbearing and even hurtful. Seoyeon still has a good relationship with them, despite their conflicts, but they haven't visited much even though they now live in the same city again because the conversation often turns tense when they (inevitably) hop on the subject of Seoyeon's future.

~ Yoon Minhyuk | cousin | 22 | fc: Stray Kids Chan | senior in college studying artificial intelligence | Being almost the same age (Minhyuk's just a year younger than Seoyeon), you'd probably expect them to get along like a house on fire. However, Seoyeon usually kept her distance from him because of her rude aunt who would often compare the two, to the point that they became more awkward than friendly. As they've grown older, the relationship has slowly begun to repair itself - they meet up every so often to catch up, and sometimes their friend groups coincide. However, there's still a lot of baggage to put away between these two, though they're both doing their best to work on it.

~ Yoon Saemi | grandmother (deceased) | age at death: 89 | fc: n/a | formerly a nurse | Seoyeon loved her grandmother. There is no doubt about that. She took care of Seoyeon when she was a little girl in NYC, taught her the basics of math using almonds and candies, and Seoyeon was heartbroken when she moved back to Korea. It tore Seoyeon's heart apart when she found out her grandmother had dementia, and it slowly ate away at her mental health as it became more and more difficult for her grandmother to even remember her name. Seoyeon was in a really dark time when Saemi eventually died, and it took a lot from both the Daegu group and her brother to pull her out of the depression she was sinking into that year.

FRIENDS.

~ Winsome Nakwon Ju | part of the Daegu squad | 23  | fc: n/a | student teacher | Will there ever be a day that Seoyeon isn't grateful for Winnie's presence in her life? Absolutely not. Having just moved to Daegu at the start of high school, Seoyeon was extremely relieved to find someone who was in a similar situation as she. Though they weren't too close at first (she wasn't entirely present for Nakwon's initial spiral into depression), they got closer towards the end of freshman year when one of their teachers paired them together for a project, and it all went on from there :) Nakwon was one of those who really helped Seoyeon get through her grandmother's death in junior year. Because of her experience with depression, she understood what Seoyeon was going through and always tried to make sure she was all right. They're still in contact today, and when they sometimes call, Seoyeon always looks forward to Nakwon shouting "QT!" as her form of greeting :)

~ Kim Taehyung | part of the Daegu squad | 24 | fc: n/a | idol | Though they may not be in close contact anymore, Seoyeon will never forget the Kim Taehyung she met in high school. There was always something so special about him, something wonderful that drew her to him from the first time they met, halfway through her freshman year. Seoyeon had a crush on him for a short while, which is a testament to how much she trusted him - as a demiromantic, it's very difficult for her to fall in love with someone she doesn't know very well, and the fact that she even experienced feelings for him was something very big for her (it was the first time she ever liked someone, like really liked them). She never acted on this crush - it faded away after a while when he left to train - and no one knows about it to this day, but Tae still has a special place in her heart. He's always been a wonderful listener, a wonderful friend, and Seoyeon will always count herself proud to have known him.

~ Baek Eden | part of the Daegu squad | 24 | fc: n/a | university student | Seoyeon was close with Eden. They both have a similar personality, a big tight-lipped in conversation (though Eden is far worse than Seoyeon when it comes to this, HA), and it's because of this that they understood each other. Seoyeon often felt like Eden was a sort of comforting presence in their friend group, especially when she needed a small break from the chaos. They could sit together in comfortable silence, maybe talking every so often, but there was never tension. Maybe this turned out to be a bit of a bad thing, because they fell out of contact after Eden went to the military, but Seoyeon will always appreciate the silent comfort he gave her throughout high school.

~ Kwak Chaewol | part of the Daegu squad | 23 | fc: n/a | athletics director | If it weren't for Tae bringing the Daegu squad together, Chaewol and Seoyeon probably never would have become friends. They're very different people, Seoyeon being more spontaneous and Chaewol much more grounded and serious. In fact, in the squad, they did clash a lot due to their contrasting personalities - arguments sometimes turned into fights, though they were usually back to friends again within a few days (mostly due to someone's intervention... /cough/ tae). Chaewol often showed her care for Seoyeon in somewhat roundabout ways, kinda like if Seoyeon was freaking out about a test, Chaewol would be like "haha yes I need to study! who's down for a study date!" and Seoyeon would also try to hype Chaewol up a little if she felt the other was being a little quiet. They've drifted apart by now - they didn't exactly stay in contact after high school, and Seoyeon's changed her number at least once since then. She still thinks about Chaewol every so often, though, and she's grateful for their time together :)

~ Moon Kevin | neighbor | 22 | fc: The Boyz Kevin | senior in college studying graphic design | It's hard for Seoyeon to imagine getting through life without Kevin, honestly. Even though they have very different interests and Kevin's a year younger, Seoyeon honestly thinks she would've metaphorically died of stress if it weren't for Kevin's memes powering her brain every time it felt like she would collapse. They met when Seoyeon and her family moved back to Daegu, and it was really nice because Kevin also spoke English (moved from Canada as a kid). They're pretty close - Seoyeon thinks of him as a younger brother, which Eric would complain about (he still does, but not seriously) if he weren't literal best friends with Kevin too. Kevin actually was the one who introduced Seoyeon to Jacob in her sophomore year of high school, and he gives himself credit as their matchmaker (Seoyeon just tells him to shut up every time he tries to espouse his matchmaking abilities, though).

NOT SO FRIENDS.

~ Jung Hyunsik | high school classmate | 24 | fc: Stray Kids Minho | works in marketing at the same pharmaceuticals company Seoyeon works at | Look, Seoyeon won't say she hates Hyunsik's guts because what happened between them was in high school and she's looked past that, but it doesn't mean she's happy when she sees him walking down the halls at work. Hyunsik sort of made her academic life hell during high school. He was effortlessly intelligent, though not very responsible, and because they were often in the same clubs and on the boards of those clubs, they were forced to work together. Seoyeon ended up doing all of the work most of the time, though Hyunsik was popular so he kept getting voted in to office. The last straw that broke Seoyeon's back was when he gave answers to one of his friends to a math test from a competition the school was organizing. After a "shoutdown" over text, they didn't really talk again (and Seoyeon never reported him, because she would feel too guilty if it stained his record). It was an unpleasant surprise for her when she found out he was also working at the same company, but whatever. They're in completely different departments, and Seoyeon more or less ignores him when they come across each other.

LOVE INTEREST.

~ Jacob Bae | boyfriend | 24 | fc: The Boyz Jacob | working on a PhD in psychology | Jacob Bae is the sweetest person alive, and Seoyeon counts herself the luckiest person in the world to have the privilege of loving him. Jacob is Kevin's cousin, and he came to Korea in high school as well when his father's job moved the family there. Though he didn't go to the same high school as Seoyeon (and as a result, isn't part of the Daegu squad - he probably would've been if he went, though), they still met a lot and talked because of Kevin, and they eventually went to the same university. Over the years, as they got to know each other, Seoyeon slowly began falling for him (though she didn't realize it at first). Jacob was always there to support her through her ups and downs, and she would always do anything in her power to make things easier for him. Jacob actually asked her out in their first year of university, but being demi, Seoyeon asked him for a little more time so she could figure out her own feelings. For the rest of her life, Seoyeon swears she'll be grateful for the fact that he waited for her. They haven't openly discussed marriage yet - though Jacob once drunkenly said he'd put a ring on her finger if he had the money for a ring, lmao - but privately, Seoyeon thinks she'd love to spend the rest of her life with him.

Besides Eric, Jacob's the only one Seoyeon's really broken down to about the pressure she feels with having to choose her path in the next couple of years, as well as the fact that she never feels good enough (she never thinks she'll actually succeed). Though Jacob knows he can't make the decision for Seoyeon, he's completely dedicated to making sure she feels well physically and mentally as she makes her decisions, and Seoyeon knows he'll always be there to support her (it really helps that he's a psych major too lmao). Their relationship is based on mutual trust built over years of laughing with and arguing with and finally accepting each other, and Seoyeon honestly wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Dates with Jacob are pretty chill, usually just them lounging at each other's apartment, but they also like to go on walks at the park or to cat/dog cafes! Jacob's more of a dog person than a cat person and Seoyeon's more of a cat person, but they make it work :) Sometimes at home, Jacob will play his guitar while Seoyeon plays her piano, and the old lady downstairs gets double the nice music that day <3

hEY, LOOK AT ME !

FULL NAME Lilia Seoyeon Yoon

NICKNAMES

~ Yeonnie ; just a cute shortening of her name because Tae is like that! at first she wasn't too excited about it (what's wrong with her full name, anyway?) but now she's very much accustomed to people, even those she isn't so close to, using it in her daily life :) she'll complain sometimes that no one seems to know her full name anymore, but secretly it makes her soft !

~ Lily ; Seoyeon's boyfriend, Jacob, came up with this one :) they first met and became friends because seoyeon introduced herself in english as lilia (her english name), since jacob wasn't entirely fluent in korean just yet. as time went on, it became lily instead. when they meet for a date, it's now tradition for jacob to bring seoyeon a lily <3

~ QT ; the first half of this (Q) came from when she had a full-on debate with Eric once about whether or not Q was actually an important part of the English alphabet (she argued for Q just for fun even though she really thinks Q is pretty useless except for the ~aesthetic~). she won the debate so people called her Q for a while, then nakwon decided QT suited her better because why not call any of her friends a cutie whenever she can? seoyeon privately cherishes this nickname, and it's how she's saved in nakwon's phone <3

~ @monochrome.keys ; seoyeon's instagram handle! when she was in high school, it used to be @potatoe but she found it cringe once she graduated so monochrome.keys was born (the start of a new era!!). her insta doesn't have a color scheme like her handle would suggest, it's just a nod to the fact that she loves to play the piano :) on her profile she mostly just posts snippets of the music pieces she's working on and funny moments with her friends! rarely does she post an individual pic of herself though (not out of too much self-consciousness or anything, just because she doesn't think she has too many interesting moments on her own)

DOB + AGE 10/26 + 23
BIRTHPLACE new york city, new york, usa
ETHNICITY korean
UALITY heteroual, demiual, demiromantic

LANGUAGES

~ korean ; seoyeon grew up speaking korean at home, especially because her grandparents didn't speak any english. her grandparents spoke with a strong daegu accent so she's picked up on that as well as their dialect! in high school, right after she moved to korea, she used to say some things that didn't completely make sense lol because her grandparents' expressions were a little outdated haha

~ english ; technically her second language! seoyeon was born in nyc and grew up there until she moved to korea at the end of middle school, so she's definitely pretty fluent. however, she hasn't had much of a reason to use english for some time so she sometimes forgets the nuances of the language and maybe substitutes a word that doesn't quite fit for the one that's on the tip of her tongue. it frustrates her to NO END when that happens but what can she do :/

APPEARANCE seoyeon wears thin-framed glasses because she's farsighted in her left eye; she can still see pretty well without them but she keeps them on anyway (sometimes gets a headache if she keeps them off for a long time). she has black hair,  undyed, and she's got a lobe piercing in each ear and a scar just above her right eye from when she fell once as a kid, but that's all!

STYLE eh. seoyeon doesn't exactly have a defined sense of style? honestly if she could wear the same thing every day she could (she just doesn't have a very good eye for fashion) but it isn't like she hates dressing up. to work, she usually just wears a nice blouse and pants, and on her days off, she prefers t-shirts and jeans/shorts. for special occasions, she'll break out a dress  or a skirt. one thing she cannot do, though, is walk in heels higher than 3 inches (she WILL trip, it's been scientifically (not really) proven), which is the bane of her existence because she is sadly pretty short :/

TRIVIA

~ loves to play the piano! her instagram is littered with short, 1-min clips of the pieces she plays, and she has a youtube account where she sometimes uploads the full versions

~ she's a classical musician by training and her favorite composers are mozart, bach, and chopin, though she does enjoy making covers of her favorite kpop songs too (including bts!!)

~ enjoys sherbet/sorbets over regular ice cream (look, tae can on that all he wants, but in the end seoyeon will just threaten to knock his cone to the ground and he'll shut up)

~ her brother, eric, is a really good dancer, but she has two left feet (he's tried teaching her some dance covers. none of them went well and seoyeon is still trying to get him to delete the footage)

~ on that same note, eric has a youtube account where he posts dance covers of his fave kpop songs! sometimes seoyeon features in them as she plays a piano cover :)

~ (i say they have youtube accounts but they're not famous or anything, this is just for fun)

~ did an exchange trip with columbia university (nyc) in her junior year of college, it was one of the best experiences of her university career

~ double majored in computer science and biology (was originally going to do biochemistry, but figured she'd be out of a job if she didn't go to med school, so she switched)

~ doesn't drink alcohol. like, she's tried it? but also doesn't enjoy it so she's usually the sober driver who takes photos/videos of her friends doing stupid

~ collects bookmarks for fun

~ curses like... a lot. more than people would expect. it's usually in english bc seoyeon just doesn't think korean curses cut it (idk maybe it's a foreigner thing). most of her friends and coworkers are so attuned to it by now that no one blinks an eye if a loud '' comes from her office

~ is still in contact with her chemistry teacher from high school :) she was the one who inspired seoyeon to take a career in stem

~ cannot handle spicy food. it's fine jacob can't either

~ didn't really believe in true love until she met jacob (yeah, she had a solid crush on tae but that was so much shallower)

~ always uses pencils instead of pens if she can. her handwriting is beautiful but it looks nicest with a thin pencil so that's what she defaults too (though gel pens and inky pens are her weakness)

~ keeps a detailed calendar of all her events, it prevents her from stressing out too much over things she might forget otherwise

~ can and will fall asleep ANYWHERE if she's tired enough (it's a trait shared by eric too, though seoyeon's never fallen asleep in the ing shower wth eric??)

~ seoyeon's grandmother taught her to cook during the summers she'd visit korea, before her dementia got too bad

~ seoyeon doesn't want to go to med school because a) the financial drain and b) she doesn't want to become a doctor

~ enjoys her current job but also wants to further her education... hmmm what to ing do

~ every week she and jacob have a mandated one hour (or longer) 'therapy session' where they talk to each other about their worries. they've never missed it, not since they've started

~ lilies are her favorite flowers for obvious reasons (side eyes jacob)

~ doesn't blush. like she can feel her face get hot but it doesn't show (what does show is her big fat embarrassed and/or shy smile)

~ thinks biochemistry is the coolest ing subject ever, LOVES DNA

~ eric sometimes makes fun of the fact that she's a nerd about deoxyribonucleic acid and bts has a song with the same name

~ kevin drew a portrait of her once that she made him sign in case he became famous one day ('when you get famous i'm selling this' 'seoyeon - what - yOU'RE SO MEAN - NO' 'HELLO EBAY')

~ honestly just more chaotic than people might expect

~ bought a promise ring with jacob, but because neither of them are fans of rings actually on their fingers, they wear the rings on chains around their necks

~ has and will throw hands if people insult the people she loves

~ can drive! though she ing hates it because people are terrifying on the road

~ guards her laptop like it's her baby (it kind of is - it has her life's work on there)

~ loves potatoes. you can almost always bribe her with potatoes (jk she has a very strict moral code but... sometimes she is willing to be ~flexible~)

~ kinda likes reading self-help books (Mindset by Carol Dweck is one of her favorites), though kevin and eric for it

~ huge fan of historical fiction (esp about wwii for some reason) and dystopian ya fiction (the hunger games defined her teenage years)

~ fun fact (inspired by recent events in my life): once someone stole the ing christmas ornaments from her family's garage when she was in 10th grade and eric got so ing mad. seoyeon just thought it was hilarious

~ on a sorta similar note seoyeon isn't very religious, she considers herself agnostic though she sometimes goes to church if her parents ask her to come

~ has a decent singing voice. nothing too special, but sometimes it sounds nice when jacob's playing the guitar and she unconsciously starts singing along

~ can't play the piano while singing though. hates that (and loathes kevin for his effortless ability to do so)

~ does not?? enjoy?? going to the beach?? sand just gets everywhere and yeah the water's nice but also... no. seoyeon just goes to pick up shells (eric and kevin throw her into the water anyway)

SOME QUOTES.

~ "Eric, I'm going to KILL YOU"

~ "Kevin, I regret being your friend."

~ "I ask for autographs on everything Kevin draws for me because when he gets famous I'm going to sell them on ebay and get ing rich."

~ "How do I know if I've ever been happy, Jacob?"

~ " med school and  grad school, maybe I'll just throw both out the window and walk into the ocean and live out my life as a ing mermaid!"

~ /two seconds later/ "Eric you cry more than God does when he looks at you."
