honest. first of all, iseul is someone who is always tells the truth without hiding things. if someone asks for her opinion, she don't sugar coat it. at the same time, she will keep it to herself if it does nothing but hurting other person. also, she couldn't care less about being popular. it's just who she is, other people can take it or leave it. hard-working. people might think that being a language students can easily passed with flying colours but hell no, she really works her off until she gets what she wants. furthermore, she don't make excuses and cause unnecessary delays. for instance, things like showing up on time, and getting the job done in a decent amount of time.

observant. she tends to observe everything around her. don't bother to tell porkies to her because she will know when someone is lying even before they open their mouth. iseul can tell if anything off from her friends' behaviour and will ask them to share problems with her. she may not be a good shoulder to lean on, but she will listen to them and give some advice. passionate. she has strong interest in korean culture and want to know deeply about it. typical asian parents will tell their children to become a doctor, lawyer or entrepreneur. hiwever, her parents let their children to achieve their dreams, as long as they are happy. she devotes every minute of her time to explore about korean culture. every time she found something that peak her interest, she just cannot help but awed. 

creative. she express her feelings with poetry. she sometimes enjoy photography and her photos on social media are often well thought out, and presented in a creative or aesthetically pleasing way. sporty. iseul loves sport with all her heart. she has always been active with all types of sports, especially netball. back in her high school days, she is the representative for her school's team and now for her university's. 

sensitive. she is always on a roller coaster of emotions. she so determined to keep her peace that she would often suppress her unpleasant emotions of ignore her own needs. for her, it is okay to put other first but she often forgets to include herself in it. conflict avoidant.  truthfully, she doesn't want to involve in any conflict. she will avoid being in that situation at all costs. one of the reasons she afraid to be in conflict is she don't want to hurt others or cause problems. 

introvert.  while other peoples loves attention, she isn't one of them. on top of that, she doesn't know how to interact with strangers, show that she really has a small circle of friends. she can be friendly too! but with someone she knows and close to. she rarely show up in party because she can't handle crowd but she will go once in a while after gaining lectures by her friends. stubborn.  iseul become stubborn due to a strong beliefs in a certain idea. she will convinced her friends with whatever reasons that popped out in her brain until they doubt about their choice. 

to sum up,  someone needs to approach her since she seems hard to get know due to her shyness. when already know her true colours, she is the most adorable person with her tiny body and personality. she won't stop talking even you tell her to stop. this baby is a fragile bunny that fears of rejection. she is the type of friends that will cry when watch movies and rants about everything. kinda naive and that's why people always take advantage of her, especially in group project. truth to be told, she curses once in a blue moon. since she rarely curse, her friends will make fun of her said that, "a baby cannot curse." but when she start to curse, she goes pretty strong and sometimes make people afraid of her. 

on the night of august 18, iseul was born in seoul, south korea. her family is consits of four people including herself. her father's name is jang minsu who is an english language & literature professor at sejong university while her mother is kang yuna which is a cafe owner. she also has a bubbly brother, jang minjae who is younger one year than her. they basically came from a middle-class family.

at the age of seven, her family moved to new zealand after her father got transferred to a local university in auckland. since her mother used to become a flight attendant before she retired and open a cafe. her father actually in doubt when he got a transfer notice because he doesn't know what he do is a right choice or not.finally, he decided to move because he want his children to experience new things such as culture, education and many more. 

iseul learnt english from her parents at the young age, so she got used to it. her pronounciation a little bit off but her friends still can understand what she said. she improved herself by watching movies, friends and reading. whenever she saw new words, she will jot down on her notebook and search for the meanings. 

after spending many years in new zealand, she moved back to her motherland since she wants to enter university in korea. although her grades are great, her parents registered her to cram school along with her brother. she never missed to go there since her parents will monitor them. she never thought that education in korea can be so hard. 

during high school, she already list out universities that she want to enrol and neo city university (ncu) is one of them. she knew that ncu is a prestigous university in korea and not anyone can easily enter. since ncu have courses that she wants which is korean language & literature, she did her best on college entrance exam. she may not be the best student in high school but she was glad because her grades were good enough for her to enrol to ncu and get a full scholarship from them.

minjae is iseul's one and only brother. he is currently a sophomore at the same university as her, majoring in journalism. their personalities are definitely poles apart. while iseul is an introvert and don't know to approach someone, this boy can easily talk to strangers without any problem. practically, minjae stay with his sister because he didn't want to stay in the dorm. he prefer to stick around with her sister  and don't care what people says. they also like a normal sibling that quarrel 24/7 and make up instantly. he's so thankful to have a sister like her, always be there for him at his worst and also laugh at his lame jokes. he swore to himself that he will fight if someone try to hurt his sister. 

"jang minjae! if i need to call you once again, i'm going to beat your ! wake up! "

hana and iseul used to be a roommate before both of them moved to live on their own. hana also her classmates since they took the same course. suprisingly, they have something in common which is, reading classic novels and always shared their thoughts about novels that they read. they're close enough to share their family problems and worries. hana is the one who does something stupid all the times. for instance, whenever she asks iseul to go to the club with her and promise not to get drunk, iseul always finds her on the dance floor, do some weird things. at the end, she's the one who dragged hana out and nagged to her on the next day. overall, she is iseul's dumbest friend and always be.

iseul's high school friend and also a neighbour. he is the one who approaches her when she first moved to his residential area. he always has her back no matter what even from high school until university. don't forget that they applied  the same university but he decided to take business administration. in iseul's view, joonha is the best secret keeper. she doesn't worry about telling her secret to him. with him, she has many things to talk about. back in the school days, anyone call him her boyfriend since they were close but they just laugh on the stupidity of that person. but most importantly, he is protective as heck, same as minjae (both of them are best buddies). he will tell her about all the boys having a crush on her and even warns sometimes to stay away from certain guys. he never hesitate to tear someone's head if they hurt her. only he can mess with her.

jung yoonoh / friend / 21 / jung jaehyun

yoonoh and iseul used to be classmates in high school. they rarely talk but still acknowledge each other existence. who doesn't know about yoonoh, the most pouplar guys in high school and the biggest heartthrob. when she was assigned to do group project with him, she feels burden with her classmates' stares especially girls. but she still did it for the sake of her grades. she admits that she used to crush on him throughout the project but she just ignore the feelings because she know that she isn't his type. they aren't close to become best friend but sometimes greet each other whenever they came across. it was fun to know about yoonoh. he might look like he about to kill anyone but he just a soft little boy. sometimes they just exchange some text which is a basic hello and what are you doing or wanna hang out?

charismatic. this personality really suit him. he has a way with words and wit that others find it intriguing. his confidence, sense of humors, quick thought and ability to interact with people make him look personable that will attract someone. energetic. he is someone who doesn't know the word tired. he have goals and dreams in his mind desperately want to achieve. he works full-heartedly, having no qualms with putting in long days and night to work for it. knowledgeable. juyeon never miss a good opportunity to learn something new. he personally acknowledges that he is that kind of guy, someone that can understand and absorbs many different perspectives and ideas. 

intelligent. juyeon rather not say that he is highly intelligent but moderate. he still has the feeling that he still needs to do more. although, he is the person who keeps quiet and is only voal at the moment it means the most. he can describe himself as a quick learner. he just listen what his teachers teach and understand instantly. despite of his goofy personality, people didn't expect that his grades are good. blunt with the truth. as expect, he will tell the truth if you ask him opinon even though his answer will make you annoyed. he observes social niceties, but he will tell you the brutal facts, for the greater good. sporty. juyeon has been exposed with sports since he was a kid. he played basketball and soccer in high school and also was in the gyeonggi youth basketball tournament. furthermore, his father is a soccer coach at ncu. he also played for his university for soccer since he don't interest in playing basketball anymore.

egoistic. he do not consider the points of view and very often opinionated. to be exact, he also doesn't apologized  easily becuase he think that if he apologized first, he will lose or you can say he's embarrassed. insensitive. being so rational, he often misjudges others feelings. he beome insensitive because of fear of showing weakness unto others around him. he thinks that they will use his "weakness" to take advantage on him. emotionally distant. he can be warm at first and then come across as emotionally distant. so don't expect him to answer your texts. they probably are procrastinating. he also tend to go mia suddenly and then pick up where the relationship was left off. even, his friends are confused by this blow hot blow cold routine of him.

juyeon is the son of lee gwangmin and jo jinah. his father is finance professor in ncu and also a soccer coach for his team while his mother is a writer for classic novel. he also has a younger brother, named lee juhyuk who was born in 2002. 

he was part of the student committee president in elementary school and received the national assemblyman's commendation. he gets a full scholarship from ncu because of his achievements in education, sports and also clubs. 

the story:

 first meeting 

it's friday and most students went to night club to enjoy themselves. iseul went to the night club in the city after wrecking her brain for finals with hana. she isn't fond with clubbing but she was forced to go since hana wanted her to loosen up. 

the girls were enjoyed theirselves. hana was dancing on the dance floor with a random person while iseul already drunk after had two glasses of red wine. suddenly felt nauseous so she rushed to the bathroom. before she could arrive, she bumped to a man and accidently puked on him. people around her were shocked look at the scene.

"what the hell!" the man said in annoyed. he tried to push iseul away from him since he clinged onto him. 

"oh my god, i'm so sor-" she puked on him once again. iseul tried to take off of his jacket so that she can cleaned up her mess. suddenly, someone called her from afar,

"jang iseul!" the voice belong to hana and she quickly apologized to the man. at the end, she passed out, looking like an idiot in front of people. all she knew is that she puked on someone and don't know who is the victim.

 the truth 

after that incident, hana and her classmates started to and she doesn't know how they know about that embarassing incident. their class group chat was flooded with video of her puked on someone that she never know. it must be one of her classmates in her university recorded that scene. iseul swore that she will never get drunk again. 

one day, she went to have a dinner with joonha and suddenly, someone interrupts them,

"hey, joonha!" she finds that the owner of this voice seems familiar. she turned around and saw the man that she puked on. she muttered, "...". as expected, the man was shocked saw her with his best friend. joonho motioned him to sit with them. 

"let me introduce you my high school friend, jang iseul. iseul, this is my another best friend, classmates and also roommate, lee juyeon." joonha started to talk since he finds the situation is awkward. before she could say anything, juyeon start to interjects her.

"yeah, i know her." he said cooly. iseul on the other hand plays with her fingers, feeling anxious. joonha stared at them weirdly.

"are you guys hooked up or something? eh, sractch that. my iseul wouldn't such things." joonha tried to make assumptions.

"hell no! i never do that, you know me well, joonha..." she defendes herself. juyeon chuckles at her cuteness. 

"joonha, do remember when i told you someone had vomitted on me and passed out in the club before?" he looked at iseul and smirk.

"is it... you, seul-ah !?" she nodded in shame. "oh my god, remember what i said about getting drunk in the club without any supervision? you know that the video was circulated around our classmates? that hana girl... how could she bring my precious baby in the club with her. i should tear her mothering head off!" joonha rants. iseul and juyeon just laughed at joonha being so protective like a dad. 

"by the way, juyeon-ssi... sorry for ruining your jacket." iseul make a proper apologized. he just nodded firmly.

" can we just eat? i just got home from training." he said and looked at the menu. they basically talked about anything and iseul being herself, laugh whatever they said.

  baby steps 

of course after meeting with joonha they exchanged phone numbers but never texted each other. they also sometimes bumped into each other. however, when she start to greet him, he just nodded with his stoic face and barely acknowledge her. so she decided to not try to greet him again. they act like strangers again.

on her way to the library for her shift, rain starts to pour heavily, wet her clothes. unluckily, she didn't bring any umbrella with her. coincidently, juyeon saw her sheltering under the tree that barely cover her. he realized that she was wearing white t-shirt that already soaking wet. he stopped his car on the side of the road and called her to enter his car.

actually, she was reluctant to get into his car but she already late so she get in. juyeon offered her his jacket to cover up her wet t-shirt so no one can see her underneath. she promised to give him back his jacket but he told her to keep it. 

 interactions 

as time goes by, juyeon sometimes offer her ride after her shift end becuase he caught someone followed her once so he decided to take her home. they sometimes texted to each other, asking what are they doing, have you eaten or want to watch my games. furthermore, they always get tease by their friends due to their closeness. holding hands or hugs is a basic things for them and they don't think about it  much. 

they keep their relationship (?) low-key because they don't want to make it fuss. they are comfortable of each other present and their closeness is not a big deal. sometimes, they crashed each other house just to watch movies or eat together. at first, minjae just glared at him when the first time iseul took juyeon home with him. now, both of them are also close and always play soccer and video games together. 

in university, they just said a simple hello or smiles. if emotion ran high, they will go to the empty hallway just to give each other hugs. every time juyeon has a tournaent, iseul never missed to support her. if he won, she will ran to him after game and hugs him. juyeon also always wait for her to finish her netball training. actually, they kissed once when iseul ditched him to go lunch with yoonoh. he thought that she replaced him with his coursemate. he couldn't control his angry and things happened.

sometimes... they wonder what are their relationship. they basically do everything together.
