She normally has her hair let down, though occasionally she straighens out her hair, wears it in a pony tail, or pulls it up to make a sort of side faux hawk. She has fairly sharp features with a pointed nose, arched eyebrows, tan-sandy skin with a warm undertone, and wide golden-brown eyes. Veena has a slender and curvy figure. Veena gives off a "comfortable, tomboyish, and easygoing" sort of vibe.

STYLE — As of late, Veena's fashion style can be described as being tomboyish, artsy, "hip-hop", and comfortable. She typically likes wearing jackets or oversized hoodies, with jeans and cool sneakers or tall boots. Her wardrobe consists of a variety of colors, and whatever she wears does depend on her mood. PERSONALITY A quirky smile, a mischievous gaze, hands that can't stay still, and a pair of worn sneakers that pad sneakily or boisterously down the hallway.

Veena is an affable, social, and charismatic young woman who enjoys being around people and making them laugh. She's generally casual and relaxed when interacting with others, and never judges based on first impressions. Veena is easily excitable and she's pretty loud when she wants to be. Anyways, Veena can be easily described as having a very exuberant and "shining" personality who demands attention and has an interest in appearing "cool." Though, she isn't necessarily talkative -- she just knows exactly what to say at a given time. Probably why she's great at public speaking and a great team player.

Veena dosen't always understand the worries or feelings, which can lead her to read situations wrong or to accidentally offend someone, but she tries her best to be kind. Furthermore, Veena is someone who easily forgives and can take being mocked and/or teased very well. However, Veena wouldn't hesitate to call someone out for their wrongdoings or if she feels that their "wallowings" or something along those lines was "too much."

She also isn't above some petty complaining or overreacting to such situations either. Veena is someone who, if she can, will avoid stressful or frustrating situations whenever she can. It also dosen't take too much to get Veena distressed with a very pressured situation. She may hide these feelings, but nevertheless can affect her in some way. In this way, Veena's more cowardly, reluctant, or more aggressive, unwieldy, and accusatory sides can rise to the forefront -- which explains why in her childhood and teen years she had a very hard time controlling her magic, though it was handled privately. She's somewhat ashamed of these traits, so she dosen't like to talk about it even if she acknowledges it.

At the same time, Veena isn't always the most honest person and has caused people to wonder how morally gray she is (yes she's good, but she's willing to do things to get things if that makes sense.) While amiable, she can be deceptive, manipulative, selfish, and focus on finding ways to serve her own interests or those who are very close to her. Though, most of the time this is... harmless. She hasn't been driven to do anything drastic yet.

Thus, Veena has been known to be a bit of a trickster and troublemaker who uses her wit and cunning (social) intelligence. As such she prefers to solve her battles verbally rather than a fight if she can. This often involves complex wordplay and vocabulary, with the addition of riddles and old sayings, to confuse the people around her. Sometimes this can get Veena into trouble, especially back in her childhood and teen years or with adults because she would be seen as "uncontrollable" or "hectic." Not that Veena caused any "huge" trouble, apart from sometimes being too loud or provoking some of her more temperamental peers on accident (cough people like Estelle cough). Either way, Veena's impulsiveness has mellowed a bit since becoming an adult -- the playful mischievous is still there. Though, her mischievousness is less of pranking and more of finding more creative ways to make things more interesting.

She has always been a family-oriented person, but it was never the forefront of her "priorities" until she had her own family. Now, it's even more important to Veena, and it's very clear in the way she speaks about and cares for her family. Since getting her son, Veena has become even more protective, caring, and aware of different things that could potentially affect their futures. Veena has always been a pretty optimistic person since she was small, but her pragmatic side has gotten more spotlight nowadays. In a similar manner, Veena has become a lot more responsible and organized over the years. Though, she still has her own sort of 'messiness' that only she can understand and still function perfectly in. It is also important to note that while Veena can be considered loyal, the loyalty to her family means more to her than loyalty to anyone else.

In contrary to many Ravenclaw stereotypes, Veena is not the most academically bright person and is slow to learning things (especially if she's not interested or invested in it.) Coupled with her being easily distractible and easily disinterested in some school subjects, she experiences a lot of frustration and struggles with that type of "intelligence." However, for the things she is interested in, she shows a LOT of in depth understanding. Regardless, this was the cause of a lot of insecurity in her teen years, and Veena would hide her anxiety and fears about this "lack of smarts." Thus, would she would laugh and brush it off, and react casually to anyone calling her "foolish" or "stupid." To this day Veena still has insecurities about this, but has mostly gotten over it with the help of her family and friends and accepts it. 

On the other hand, Veena is an extremely creative, resourceful, and innovative person. She considers herself an "free spirit" who has no qualms with breaking rules and tradition, and can easily think "outside of the box" from multiple angles. Though, she can be quite stubborn about "being free spirited" and/or her other convictions, but not so much that she'll argue or get mad if someone opposes it. Additionally, Veena is almost always on the move, and she always feels the compulsion to make, fix, and/or improve things if she is able.

While she may face some insecurity and weird glances from other people and it may hurt her for some time, Veena dosen't let any negative opinion control her life. Veena, helped by her upbringing and what helped her in her teen years to gain confidence, no longer bases her worth on what other people perceive her as much as she used too. And finally, once Veena finds something that she is truly passionate about, you'll have a dedicated but sometimes ditzy and unpredictable yet funny person on your hands.

 

— EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE.

    
 

BACKGROUND 
Born and raised in the University City of Oxford, England, Veena Harris was the first child of a Muggle Family. Her childhood was fairly uneventful, with some hiccups along the way. Unlike the rest of her very academically-driven family, Veena found her interests in other areas; namely being things like fictional novels, hanging out with friends in the park, and music. There was never any family rifts for that matter, and Veena grew up very close with her parents and siblings -- although people did bring up every once in awhile that she acted "different" from the others and a bit "slower" than they would've expected.

This notion of "different" didn't really bother Veena, until strange things started to happen. They were normally small incidents and the Harris Family could normally brush it off, but they stuck in their memory regardless as being strange. It didn't help that these "strange things" that couldn't be explained sometimes happened while Veena was at primary school. Sometimes it was accidently vanishing a pencil, or having something hover above the ground, or accidently causing someone's mouth to swell -- and Veena occasionally got in trouble for it, but no one could really say what happened so she normally got away scot free. Regardless, this did cause Veena to be "questioned" a bit by her peers. Now, Veena knows that what was happening was just accidental magic, but regardless it did make her very self conscious very early on because it sort of scared her. This would prompt Veena to branch out and become more social in a way, so she could feel more normal.

Her parents were becoming increasingly more concerned about these weird happenings, when Veena finally received her Hogwarts Letter when she turned 11 years old. It was a interesting experience to say the least. At this time, Veena was struggling even more with schooling, unlike her younger siblings, and her parents were looking to finds ways to get her better tutors and enroll her in a prestigious Junior High, in hopes of helping her grades. Which is why when they got a letter detailed that Veena was accepted to one "Hogwarts" they were quite skeptical. So, they decided to investigate and didn't tell Veena about the letter. And, to no surprise, they found nothing about it. So naturally, they thought the latter was a scam and forgot about it.

Long story short, the Hogwarts Rep. arrived at the Harris home (they were almost hit on the head by a baseball bat, as courtesy of Mrs. Harris) and promptly explained the existence of magic and how these "weird" things that happened around Veena was nothing to be worried about. Granted, it did take even more explaining to convince the parents to let Veena attend Hogwarts (especially concerning the Academics), but it all came to a close soon enough. Following a very long and curious trip to Diagon Alley, Veena was set with a wand, her school supplies, fresh new robes, and a cute Toad she named Wally as her pet.

Veena was sorted into the Ravenclaw House, and instantly established herself as the cute 1st year whom all of her upperclassman would dote over, and all her peers could talk to whenever they needed. She was quick to make friends whenever she could, such as going up to her fellow housemates before they noticed her while their heads were stuck in books (she would grow out of this habit eventually, as it spooked people a bit.) Though, especially to the other students in the other houses, she was known as the "least-smart" Ravenclaw. This nickname would disappear around 3rd to 4th year, but 11 year olds really don't know better than to see Stereotypes and unconsciously make points about it.

It is also notable that at this time, Veena's family (while supportive and quite excited that they had a witch in their family), were still very cautious about the Magical World for a while. Especially once they learned about the War that had happened back in 1998 -- even Veena had been quite alarmed when she learned about the crazy things that happened back then. But those issues were resolved civilly and everything worked out.

Anyways, this took a large hit to Veena's self esteem and confidence for a long time. Furthermore, it didn't help that Veena had a lot of trouble with her magic during this time. Not only was she a Muggle Born and already had trouble with studying, but her magic was particularly volatile -- sometimes creating unfortunate explosions akin to that of Seamus Finnigan when he was young. Though it does explain why she's very good at Pyrotechnics. In the beginning, which would be around 1st to 3rd year, Veena didn't really know how to deal with these insecurities and difficulties, and she didn't want to burden other people with her problems. But don't get me wrong, people did offer to help, but Veena often chose to turn them away. So instead, she stayed quiet, and would laugh along with the others when she made mistakes or caused a fire, and would somehow get by on her school work. Her being the "least smart Ravenclaw" became a sort of inside joke.

It sort of wasn't until her mid-3rd year that Veena was approached by the 5th year Ravenclaw Prefect, Catriona Wolff. Long story short (detailed in the Love Story), with the help and encouragement of Catriona, Veena was eventually able to get over her worries and insecurities and sort of blossom in her own skin. That being she was finding new ways to study, new ways to get focus, things that she was passionate in, and so on and so forth. She even joined the Frog Choir and Charms Club in this year, and was welcomed with open arms. This was also the year that Veena began journaling and writing -- finding another home in the interests that she'd had since she was small (and what better way to get inspiration for a fictional novel when you can actually do magic.)

Upon graduating from Hogwarts, with top mark O.W.L.S in Potions (which surprisingly became her best subject), Herbology, and Charms, alongside other subjects. Having found a newfound love in Potions, especially in creating new ones with fun effects, Veena would go on to work at a well-known Potions Shop as a Professional Brewer -- experimenting and studying on her own time. At this time, she would also go on to publish a popular fantasy adventure novel series in the Muggle World (becoming popular in the magical world as well?) So, her life was going quite well and felt accomplished that she had grown as a person.

When she was 21 years old, Veena had gotten married to her girlfriend of 3-years, Catriona Wolff. And 2 years later, at 23 years old, the two of them adopted their infant son, Nico, from one of Veena's young coworkers who wasn't able to care for him. They were happy, content, and stable as a new family. And then... The attack happened.

THE INITIATIVE
On August 10th, 2018, Veena Harris was walking through London with a baby Nico in his stroller as she was going shopping with her younger sister, Mallory, to celebrate her 22nd birthday. Veena had specifically gotten the day off from work so they could spend the day together -- Catriona a. The streets on London were as busy as ever, but they were having an enjoyable time. It was almost 4 in the evening, and they were on their way to another nearby shop. Veena and Clarisse were happily chatting, and smiling down at a gurgling Nico who was looking around at the world around him in earnest.

It was around 4 in the afternoon and they had stopped for a moment because Mallory had accidently bumped into a passerby and dropped her bag. Suddenly, the world seemed to turn upside down as a loud and aggressive rumbled echoed along the streets. Everyone was confused. Before Veena could even blink, she watched in horror as a group of figures dressed in black with wands in their hands appeared. Red sirens went off in her head, "What are these people thinking?!" Immediately, Veena sensed danger. With a tight grip on Nico's stroller, she turned her head back to yell at Mallory that they had to leave now. The words had only just left her lips when spells started to fire, people started screaming and yelling, and phones were whipped out. 

Veena, having no other choice, took Nico from his stroller, hugged him close, and with her other free hand went to grab Mallory before they were swept up in the crowd of running people. However, just as their hands met, Mallory had let out a painful scream as a spell struck her leg, causing her to collapse to the ground. Letting out a shriek of shock, Veena's mind went on auto pilot. She never was the best at DADA (that was Catriona's job, but Veena wasn't too shabby), but within seconds Veena had pulled out her wand and casted a shield spell around them. Her thoughts were moving at 100mph as she heard spells strike at her shield or things around them. Sould she apparate the three of them out of here? No, that'd be too dangerous, especially since Mallory had been hit and she had a shrieking baby clutching her shirt. 

Thankfully, at that moment Veena noticed that aurors and other wizards and witches had begun to fight back. An auror who she vaguely recognized through Catriona had noticed Veena and had quickly gone over to help her. The event now is still very chaotic in Veena's mind, but what she does remember is that the auror had helped both Veena and Mallory stand and told them to get out of here as quickly as they good. He would cover them. While his back was turned, Veena had noticed an oncoming spell, and without a second thought had thrown her own spell to counter it. The auror then spun around, quickly firing off his own.

Then, her wand still clutched in her hand, and making sure to keep a firm grip on Nico, Veena ran, Mallory following close behind. They eventually arrived back at Veena's large apartment, and the two of them promptly collapsed on the couch (gently setting down Nico in pillows and blankets) as they wondered just what the heck had happened. And Veena knew, she just knew that this was the start of something, and she didn't know if it was good or bad.

That night, Catriona had arrived home with a tired and dark look on her face. Apart of the Investigative Department in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Catriona was seeing everything that was happening in the Ministry as a result of the attack. It didn't exactly help that once Catriona learned that Veena, Nico, and Mallory had been apart of the attack, she had become even more frustrated and angry than before. (Thus leading to Catriona being apart of the team of Aurors, Investigators, and other who will work with the MII.)

As for the MII, Veena learned of it through Catriona, who mentioned it to her during dinner and how she was planning to work alongside the program once things got established. Veena had jumped forward once she learned this information. To say the least, Veena had been quite angry and nearly traumatized by the attack, as not only was her innocent muggle younger sister attacked, but if Veena had not been a witch herself, who knew what could've happened. Catriona was a little skeptical when Veena showed her interest in becoming apart of the program as well -- however was eventually convinced because she realized how much this meant to her wife, and that most of the work would be administrative and on paper anyways (and their parents could take care of Nico.)

Veena was further convinced to apply for the initiative because her entire family is comprised of muggles and she IS a muggle born witch. This would affect not only her entire family, but all of her muggle friends and acquaintances. Especially friends who she knew were starting new families, and she wondered how this could affect her own son. Veena also figured that it could help any integration because she was already a popular author to Muggles -- she was already a well known name to both children and adults alike. Besides, Veena has always wanted to see what it's like to work in the ministry, since Catriona works there.

Thus, making schedules of baby sitting with her parents, and alerting her Potions workplace of a potential leave, Veena set out for her applications and interview to the MII.

As for her outlooks for the program, Veena has a lot of hopes for it and desperately wants for the change that they inspire to be good and to not cause any conflicts. That, and she's quite excited and nervous about it because now her two lives as both a muggle and a witch can finally combine as one -- in the best case scenario that is.

TRIVIA
✎ Her favorite colors are Blue, Purple, and Silver.
✎ She is oftentimes the person who breaks up awkward silences and has a list of jokes and/or surprising one-liners stowed away in her head just for those moments.
✎ Veena is a great homecook, and often makes lunches for herself and Catriona for work.
✎ Veena was apart of the Frog Choir (with her pet frog, Wally) and was one of the lead and best singers. She still sings, thought mostly in the form of lullabies to Nico while he falls asleep. She was also apart of the Charms Club.
✎ Veena also speaks Fluent Afrikaans from learning in her childhood, and Advanced Italian on her own time.

✎ Before the MII, Veena does work full-time at a popular Potions Shop with a group of other Potioneers. Though once Nico was adopted, Veena did take some time off, and did potions work at her home for awhile before going back. She does has aspirations of opening up her own Potions business later down the road, and publishing another novel series that she's been planning for awhile.
✎ She has since gotten the habit of over packing her bags with as many resources as she can (in case) for Nico. This also carries on to her work at the MII, to which she is always aware of whether or not they have had lunch or drinking enough water, and so on. Also keeps some pillows and massage equipment because they're at their desks for so long.
✎ Her best subject, by far, at Hogwarts was Potions, followed by Herbology and Charms. Her worst subjects were Transfiguration and DADA (partly due to her volatile magic until she got better control.)
✎ She is a very light sleeper. She can NEVER sleep when there's noise.
✎ She's not really the best at drawing -- Enlists the help of friends to draw illustrations for her books.

Veena's parents are both very serious and studious people, who despite their more stern and blunt personalities, are still open minded and kind people. Veena is very close with her parents, and to this day goes to visit them often because they don't live too far away from them. These visits do become more frequent because they watch over Nico whenever Veena and Catriona need to work. Veena has always wanted to make her parents proud, and she always felt guilty and sad that she couldn't meet all of their expectations in school. However, over the years Veena would finally talk about her worries with her parents, and come to understand that they were always happy with how she is. Honestly, there was a little disappointment in the beginning, but in the end they wouldn't have Veena any other way. Actually, they were more happy and surprised that Veena became the most social and easygoing person in her whole family. The two of them were very worried when they learned about the attack and how the Magical World was attempting to "integrate" with the Muggle World, but nevertheless expressed their support. They also assured Veena that they would help in thier own way, and give advice on how to handle the older generations.

Megan Nel-Harris is a short and lithe English woman with long brown hair, brown eyes, and fair skin. Where Veena gets most of her colors from her father, she does seem to resemble her mother more.

✎ In-Laws / Waylon Wolff (59) & Adrianna Wolff (58)
Veena, in the beginning, was very intimidated by her in-laws, as they were very much elegant, rich, and smart, just like Catriona. However, after one disastrous first meeting at a formal dinner, once she actually got to sit down with them in a casual setting, things went much better. Actually, she found that Waylon was actually a very playful individual, whereas Adrianna was a more whimsical and mischievous person herself -- though these more playful traits were a more recent development when Veena and Catriona were Teenagers. Veena considers them her second set of parents who are just magical instead of muggle. So in that case, she can also discuss some topics with them that she can't with her own parents because they wouldn't as easily understand. They also act as babysitters for Nico, and help to give Veena advice on how to work with older muggle generations to get used to magic.

✎ Siblings / Mallory Harris (22) & Darion Tunzi (18)
Veena has always loved her siblings, and has always been extremely protective over them. Especially since she was gone for majority of the year at Hogwarts, she made sure that the summers she spent with them counted. You will not find a trio of siblings who are as close as the Harris siblings are. With Veena being expressive and having a way with words, Mallory is sweet and empathetic, and Darion is practical and realistic. When the three of them are together, you just know that things will get fun and interesting. As stated earlier, both Mallory and Darion are muggles and are fascinated by Magic. For a short time they were jealous of Veena's magic, but have since moved past that. Now they're just excited for whenever they can see it in action. Since Mallory was injured in the attack, she also considered joining the MII, but in the end decided against it because of other obligations -- she supports it wholeheartedly and if she can assist in any small way she'd love to. Darion is the same, and offers his help for helping give out ads or publicity to the program if it's needed since he's young and knows a LOT of people.

Veena adores her son with her heart and soul -- he's basically been her entire life for the past year so she's extremely dedicated towards him. Since having adopted him shortly after he was born, she has been apart of his young life for as much as she can. He already has a very pleasant, adorable, and curious personality, and loves interacting with whoever and whatever he notices. Veena is especially protective over him, and he is one of the reasons that propels Veena to apply for the MII. While Veena is somewhat reluctant to leave him for periods of time while working for the MII, she knows that he's in safe hands with her parents and that she facetimes him on her breaks. Also keeping family photos on her desk at the office. It is also notable that Veena and Catriona know that Nico is very likely to be magical, as both his biological parents were half-bloods.

FRIENDS — 

✎ Best Friends / Calliope Lopez (24) & Fletcher Kellum (23)
Her best friends who she met while at Hogwarts. Calliope being a snarky, playful, and incredibly intelligent Slytherin, and Fletcher being a shy, kind, and compassionate Hufflepuff. They were as thick as thieves starting their 1st year, and both noticed when Veena's mental health and self esteem were deteriorating for the first three years and how she hid behind bright smiles and playful jokes. They were beyond relieved once Catriona had entered Veena's life -- the two of them are the biggest CatVee shippers in the whole entire world... They made buttons for it. The three of them are still very close to this day. Their group dynamic is easily described as Calliope being the Leader, Veena being the comedic relief and spokesperson, and Fletcher being the mediator and cute one.

Calliope actually works in the Administrative Registration Department in the Law Enforcement Department. (She can potentially be involved in the more practical side of the team that operates with the MII.) And Fletcher works in the Department of Magical Transportation, and is the best out of the three at Apparition.

✎ Friends / Jennifer Lee (23) & Duncan Mullen (25)
Her Muggle Friends who she would meet after graduating from Hogwarts. Jennifer being a reserved, sarcastic, and honest person who would've been sorted into Ravenclaw, and Duncan being a optimistic, youthful, and rambunctious person who would've been sorted into Gryffindor. It was almost a sort of breath of fresh air when Veena met them, since she hasn't had muggle friends in a long time. Especially friends who she could mesh together well with just like her own best friends. Veena meets the two of them every now and then for hangouts, moreso before Nico, but they still hang out sometimes. Since they are muggles, Veena kept her main job (as a Potioneer) as a secret from them and described herself as a Chemist. Though, they do know about her being an author, and are avid social media supporters of her. After the attack and reveal of the magical world, Veena does make sure to explain things to Jennifer and Duncan personally, because they've been friends for over 4 years now. The two of them are quite shocked, but get used to it quite easily since it explains quite a few things about Veena.

Carina is the biological mother of Nico, who wanted to give him to Veena and Catriona to be raised with loving parents. She is a very cautious, independant, and quiet young woman who made some decisions that she wasn't ready to deal with. After their meetings, and the adoption process, Carina would continue to be apart of their live every now and then to visit Nico. Veena does consider the younger girl a good friend, and has since stated that she'd be more than happy to help her with whatever she needs if she needs it. Carina is very appreciative of this, and as another aspiring Potioneer, takes Veena's advice to heart.

Her boss at her workplace (Potion's Shop/Distributor/etc). Connor is a talented Potioneer and Businessperson who has a very laidback and reserved personality. He seems to give off a very lazy yet reliable vibe -- basically he always looks like he gets no sleep and always has a grouchy look on his face, but he means well. Veena sees Connor as a mentor-figure, so they have moreorless a teacher-student yet colleague dynamic, and gets along with each other well. Even if Connor is a snarky sometimes. When Veena tells Connor about her leave from work in order to work at the MII, he acts pretty nonchalant about it but it's clear that he's a little disappointed to loss a talented Potioneer for some time but supports her nevertheless. He si willing to write her a letter of recommendation or whatever if it's needed.

*Appearance: A tall man who seems to have a permanent slouch and bags under his green eyes, he has shoulder-length messy black hair, with both a mustache and beard.

APPEARANCE — Catriona appears as her face claim. She stands at 180 cm and weighs 66 kg, and is undoubtedly one of the tallest women who work at the Ministry. With long and luscious golden hair, sharp steely-blue eyes, and sharp jawline, she is a very beautiful and attractive woman who garners gazes wherever she goes. Catriona is quite muscular with a very athletic physique. Her hair is usually left down or pushed to one shoulder in casual settings, while at work her hair is pulled into a high ponytail or a tight bun. Catriona seems to give off a very "serious, professional, and calm" vibe.

STYLE — Catriona's style can be described as being fashionable, chic, mature, and occasionally like a rocker. She typically wears more muted and more monochromatic colors, and dosen't mind showing off skin. PERSONALITY  
Catriona and Veena do share some similar traits, with Catriona being just as compassionate and resilient in her endeavors. Though, Catriona is the Introvert to Veena's extrovert, and is more reserved and a little less socially aware -- ultimately being a bit dense with things, but she's gotten better at it. Thankfully, her jobs don't revolve around talking, she leaves that for Veena.

In the past, she had a much more cold and aloof personality. Some of it was due to the strained relationship she had with her parents in her childhood and early teen years -- reconciling with them with Veena's help in her late teens. Anyways, Catriona has always been more reserved and laidback with solitary tendencies. She also shows traits of easily getting moody and impulsive due to her competitiveness and at-times arrogance, and can hold very long grudges. That being said, as a member of the Magical Law Enforcement, she does have a strong moral compass and sense of justice and will not hesitate to carry them out.

But her most prominent trait is her intelligence and deductive abilities. She did graduate at the top of her class at Hogwarts, with 9-11 OWLS with high grades. Her housemates sometimes liked to joke that she was like the Ravenclaw Hermione Granger because of her dedication to her studies. Thus, not surprisingly, she has an extremely quick brain, and cano not only tell you anything, but knows how to apply it as well. As she always sees things with an analytical and logical lens, it's really no surprise that she ended up as an Investigator.

Furthermore, Catriona is a very prudent, confident, dedicated person who acts as a natural leader. She is generally level-headed and calm in dangerous situations, taking adverse situations in stride, which is a necessity in her career. Catriona can be blunt (always honest and rarely if ever lies) with her comments about people's mistakes and miscalculations, tending to be very direct and wishing to help her peers improve enough to become great wizards/witches, such as when she tutored her peers and underclassmen while at Hogwarts. 

That all being said, she can be seen as intimidating and untouchable to people who do not know her personally. So it's sometimes hard for new people to approach her, and Catriona isn't really one to approach people herself unless it's for a job or something. And times Catriona can seem like she's ignoring people, but it's really just that she's so hyper focused on one thing that her attention is just elsewhere. For this reason, it can be surprising to people when they see her more gentle, affectionate, and romantic sides -- most often when she's around Veena or young children. 

Catriona, like Veena, is extremely family oriented, loyal, and protective to the people she loves. Though, unlike Veena who prefers to use her words, Catriona is more than willing to get out her wand or using her fists.

TRIVIA
✎ Catriona attended Hogwarts and was apart of the Ravenclaw House.
✎ In her 5th Year she was made Prefect, and in her 7th Year she became Head Girl.
✎ Her best subjects were Defense Against the Dark Arts and Charms. Her worst subjects were History and Herbology.

The only reason why she didn't join the aurors or another department was because she liked being a detective more than anything else. Like hello, she's a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes and any mystery drama that's on TV.

RELATIONSHIP — It's the Married Life. Their Rings.

THE STORY
The two of them first met at Hogwarts. Catriona was 2 years ahead of Veena, and for majority of Veena's first three years, they didn't interact much at all, apart from seeing glances at each other in the Ravenclaw Tower. Catriona moreso noticed Veena, because she was the loudest and most gregarious Ravenclaw in her year. They didn't really have a conversation together until midway through Veena's 3rd year and Catriona's 5th year. Having been appointed a Prefect, Catriona was becoming more aware and responsible for her underclassman -- and her attention seemed to automatically zoom in on the rambunctious 3rd year who was doing, quite honestly, horrible in her classes. For the first couple months, Catriona casually monitored Veena, occasionally giving out short and clipped advice when many 3rd year Ravenclaws were gathered together.

But then, Catriona had found Veena sitting alone on the grass outside by herself late in the evening. Curious, Catriona slowly crept up to her, only to notice that the younger girl was softly but harshly criticizing herself -- seeming to be pulling at her hair and ripping out grass in frustration. From what Catriona had heard, she had been shocked and surprised at how self degrading and depressed the comments seemed to be, and without thinking, and walked up to the younger girl and plopped down right next to her. And just like that, magic seemed to spark. Catriona explained to Veena that while she didn't fully understand to what Veena was going through, and did relate to those feelings somewhat -- as she was still through her own process of "self improvement." Veena felt comfortable with the "Untouchable Prefect" who seemed so much more kind and human than the stiff words she normally heard. The two of them talked, Veena finding the strength to speak about some of her troubles, and Catriona offered to help her.

From there, Veena would meet Catriona a couple of days every week after classes. Catriona would introduce Veena to new studying methods and practices that fit with her much better than what she had previously used. Veena thrived in this environment, and Catriona felt strangely endeared towards her. Actually, soon enough, Catriona would find these private tutoring sessions to be much more... enjoyable than when she was tutoring her other classmates (not that they were bad in any way, it's just that Veena had a certain spark to her that drew her in.) And yes, they did have a whole scenario where Catriona was trying to push Veena away and was hiding herself in an arrogant shell, but Veena (and friends) were able to knock her out of it.

Over the next few years, the two would continue to work with each other. It was almost comical to see the previously cold and aloof Catriona be followed around by an excitable Veena, or the other way around. Even after Veena had grown more comfortable in her own skin and as a witch, she would continue her weekly sessions with Catriona because... It just seemed like the right thing to do. They just worked well together. It was almost like two puzzle pieces fitting together as they helped each other with their own emotions and worries, even the most trivial ones.

When Catriona was in her 7th and final year at Hogwarts, Veena being in her 5th, it was brought to her attention (by friends) that she always stared at the younger girl with such affectionate eyes. Her friends (many of them being boys), would tease and joke how Catriona's eyes would spew literal honey and love hearts whenever they laid their gaze upon Veena. It was embarrassing, and Catriona didn't really know what to do about it. Veena, herself, was teased in a similar manner. Her best friends oftentimes giggling behind her whenever they saw the Head Girl walk past, and whispering the "sitting in a tree" song -- to which Veena would exasperatedly throw pillows at them.

It was during Catriona's final month at Hogwarts, that she finally gained the courage to talk to Veena about it all. Because at this point, she just knew that she really, really liked her. They had been friends for a while now, so they already knew that they worked well together. And with Catriona almost graduating, this was a risk she was willing to take. So, Catriona had invited Veena on a trip to Hogsmeade, the two of them walked together alone until they were in a clearing with the sun shining down on them, and they talked. It was a perfectly normal situation, and suddenly out of the blue, Catriona couldn't help herself and asked Veena to be her girlfriend. And, with a heart welling with both surprise and affection, Veena accepted.

They would go on to have a very loving relationship, though long distance at first until Veena graduated from Hogwarts. And, long story short, things were going extremely well. And when Veena was about 20, the two of them moved in together (at their current apartment), and delved into a routine where they could actually live together. And, after 5 years of dating, the two of them got married. Funnily enough, Catriona pulled a similar stunt as she did when asking Veena to become her girlfriend out of the blue. The two of them had been sparring, mostly because Veena asked for Catriona to teach her some moves. When Veena had finally managed to pin Catriona down, the older woman couldn't help it and proposed right then and there. Veena had sputtered out in surprise and lightly punched Catriona in the shoulder, and with tears in her eyes, accepted happily.

Following their marriage, two years later the two of them were able to adopt an infant child (whom they named Nico), from one Carina Bisognin (who they met, since she was a family friend of Catriona's) who couldn't and didn't want the responsibility of raising a child, especially as she was still a student. It was a pretty easy process all things considered. And they wouldn't regret it for the world. Because while Catriona and Veena hadn't planned on having a family at this time, once they learned about what Carina was going through and how she wanted to give her baby to them, they just couldn't say no. And thank goodness they did, because the two of them fell in love with baby Nico the moment they laid eyes on him.

As of current time, the two of them are a happy family. Though Catriona has been working longer hours, and Veena has been more involved with raising their son. Though, since the introduction of the MII, things have gotten a little more hectic with their daily lives. Especially now since they technically work together on the same floor concerning the same general issue.

I tried to go for a spin on the 'parents' idea that you had written, so I hope that it helps with any inspiration or arcs and all that fun stuff :) I mean, having someone who messes around with potions, writes childrens/young adult novels, has a pretty active twitter and instagram, and an overprotective very tall wife? I mean the possibilies---

I was also trying to think of potential wand woods for Veena and Cat, but it's pretty hard haha. I was thinking maybe Veena could have a Spruce or Ebony? Maybe Cat could have maybe Pine, Walnut, or Elm? Haha, I was wondering what you could suggest :D

✎ I was thinking that something interesting would be Veena writing books and compiling things that detail the work of the MII (maybe like a biography for the organization or sorts) and/or helpful books for Muggles so they have useful information about Integration with the Magical World in one place.

✎ The MII showcasing a Magic Show or Demonstration for Muggles in a controlled environment. Or maybe doing it at a park?

✎ Veena introducing the MII to baby Nico! Just cute fluff -- maybe she even brings him into the Office during a slow day beacuse her parents are busy.

✎ The New World Order attacking the MII members, and the Auror/Investigative/etc team stepping in to assist some time after. Maybe Catriona and Veena getting into a fight because Veena gets injured. Catriona is especially worried because Veena isn't well versed in fighting with Magic. Anyways, just wanted to let you know that while Veena and Catriona are married, I'm always up for some rocky bumps and drama appearing in their relationship!
