many people will say celine has a mild personality. her godfather even told her she would definitely be a hufflepuff if she was to be enrolled in hogwarts. celine embodies the mediator personality perfectly. easy-going and compassionate, many love to be in the presence of her as she exudes a zen-like aura and makes a great listener. yet, she is still an introvert at heart, which is why she chose to be a journalist instead of a reporter. at the end of the day, she would need some alone time to recharge her social battery. due to her reserved nature, she tends to wait for others to engage her in conversations first and takes some time to warm up to others. this explains why she looks warm and friendly but is a hard shell to crack. nonetheless, she possesses a cheerful countenance. even though she is a quiet person at first meeting and doesn't stand out in crowds, people still find it comfortable being around her as she gives off positive and wholesome vibes.

having said that, celine was initially very upset and disappointed to find out she was a no-maj as she aspired to be a cool witch just like her dad and uncle richard. she soon came to terms with her identity as a squib since she figured it would be for the best. celine knew that her mother had been worried all this while about her identity and coming out as a squib seemed to have brought her mother some relief as a muggle parent. living as a muggle, no one knew of her squib identity except for her immediate family (there wasn't any need for her to reveal her blood status in the muggle world), and celine was treated normally by her muggle peers. in school, celine proved to be a smart student who excelled in her studies. having a flair for the languages and writing, celine ended up studying journalism in university. in 2016, she graduated with a first class honours and got herself a job as an editorial assistant at the daily telegraph, a london-based newspaper agency. two years into her career, she has been promoted to a junior editor.
THE INITIATIVE
the incident on august 10th, 2018 sent the entire muggle community into confusion and fear. there have been various conspiracy theories floating around town about the new world order and alien takeovers. celine knew of the incident as she was on the team sent to cover this piece of alarming news. shocked to say the least, yet she wasn't stupid. it definitely wasn't some alien takeover and she knew it must have something to do with the wizarding world from the looks of broad daylight attacks. her suspicions were somewhat confirmed when she found her godfather's snow leopard patronus waiting for her in her room after she came home from work, delivering her the message same place tomorrow. we need to talk. feeling tense and jittery from all morning happenings and her godfather's cryptic message, she couldn't help but to pray for the best and drifted off to a restless sleep.
over the weekends (august 11th and 12th), richard roughly briefed her on the current situation in the wizarding world. to put it simply, the dark is returning and the ministry, aka granger, has plans for a muggle integration initiative. richard then provided her with a proposition as a food-for-thought: join the initiative and fight against the evil together. they are overthrowing the secracy that has been maintaining the peace between the two worlds for over 300 years, celine was skeptical to say to least and thought the whole idea was insane: doesn't that literally mean war and she definitely doesn't look forward to world war at this rate. the only reassuring thing about the whole situation was that hermoine granger was the one constructing the idea and minister granger knows her as always.
celine was caught off-guard by uncle richard's serious tone. her godfather was rarely serious, except when it comes to work-related matters. he would usually be the one joking with her and his words are often laced with a form of light-heartedness, even when he talked about her deceased father. so she immediately could grasp the severity of the situation, which doesn't help alleviating the knots in her stomach at all. why me? was what celine could barely ask. richard explained she was the best candidate for the team being a squib who is aware of both the wizarding and muggle world. in addition, her strong suit in writing and her familiarity with the muggle media industry is certainly an added bonus.
celine's mother was obviously displeased after hearing the news. she had lost her husband to the deatheaters and she definitely wasn't going to expose her only precious daughter to danger. amanda's worries resonated clearly with celine. moreover, her current job has been stable and she is pretty satisfied with her current life, until uncle richard said the words your father would be proud.
celine was notably shakened by that sentence. her father had no doubt been a great wizard (heck, in her eyes the greatest wizard). she was actually disappointed in herself for not being able to live up to expectations as matthew yang's daughter for being a squib. despite uncle richard's adoration towards her, celine still knew about the prejudice the wizarding world has against squibs (for one, the ministry doesn't even want to keep records of us), as evident from the lack of contact from her paternal grandparents' side. she will never know of her father's reaction to her being a squib, so all she could do is to continuously do her best through hard work and achievements in hopes and self-comfort that her father would be somewhat proud of her if he was still alive, even though she doesn't have those magical abilities. this time, her godfather's words really hit her right in the feels.
all of a sudden, she really wanted to apply for this job. yet, there's one more thing she needs to do: she manages effortlessly to twist her words into a most convincing speech and with added reassurance from richard, amanda finally relents albeit reluctantly. so when the applications rolled out on the 13th, she did not hesitate to submit her resume from the adrenaline rush. when the adrenaline dissipated, she can't help but wonder if what had done was the right move but the decision has already been made.

"SO TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF" — i'm celine yang, twenty-four this year. i've graduated with first class honours from kings' college london with a degree in journalism. i'm currently working at the daily telegraph as a junior editor.
"HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THIS POSITION?" — i first heard about this opening through my godfather, who is working in the ministry of magic as a hit wizard. he was the one who recommended me this role.
"WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR BIGGEST WEAKNESS?" — my biggest weakness would be my idealism. sometimes i'm just too optimistic for my own good and i trust too easily. i tend to always search for the good in people, believing that everyone will have an angelic side to them. that being said, the disappointment hits like a truck when i'm proven otherwise.
"WHY DO YOU THINK YOU SHOULD GET THIS JOB?" — i think my blood status as a squib gives me an advantage over the other candidates. for one, i'm exposed to both the wizarding and the muggle world. i have been living in the muggle world for the past 20 years of my life and as mentioned before, my godfather's a wizard so i have also been learning about the wizarding world through him over the years. furthermore, i'm working in the muggle media industry as an editor. having a flair for the languages and writing i believe i'm professionally trained to address the public through the news articles that i write.
"WHAT DO YOU HOPE THIS INITIATIVE WILL ACCOMPLISH?" — i hope that the initiative can serve as an education platform for both wizards and muggles to learn about each other and build camaraderie among one another. the bigger picture would be for everyone, be it wizard or muggle, to stand together, join forces and fight against the evil as one.
