 FACE CLAIM  TWICE Jeongyeon

 BACK-UP FACE CLAIM  Loona Haseul

 HEIGHT & WEIGHT  169cm (5'7) + 52.3kg (115lbs)

 APPEARANCE

Jiyeon likes to keep her hair short and in a 'boyish' style since it's the easiest to maintain. Her brother has dyed her hair a couple types, mostly natural colours (except for that one summer where she went blue). Jiyeon also needs glasses and prefers to wear them over contacts since touching her own eye grosses her out.

Jiyeon also has acne scars from puberty on her forehead and that's where she still gets the most acne. She tends to cover them with her bangs since they make her feel embarrassed. On days where she feels very self concious or really wants to look good, she covers them with concealer and foundation.

As the story goes on and Jiyeon becomes interested in Minho, she begins to feel a lot more self conscious. I mean Minho? He's gorgeous. She knows she's not ugly, but he's way way out of her league. Not to mention he's surrounded by pretty girl with pretty clothes and makeup. How can she not compare herself to them?

 FASHION STYLE

When it comes to her school uniform, Jiyeon makes sure she's impeccably dressed. Shirt always perfectly ironed and skirt creased. Not a thread out of place. It's become routine for Jiyeon to iron her uniform before bed every night. She becomes very annoyed if her uniform is messed up at all.

Outside of school, Jiyeon's sense of style is very basic. She prefers casual, laid back clothing. Plain tee , jeans and sneakers. Maybe a baseball cap if she's feeling adventurous. Jiyeon has had most of her clothing for years since she hasn't grown much since midde school. She hates clothes shopping and tends to repair her own clothing whenever needs. Jiyeon is quite handy with a needle and thread.

 PLOTLINE   The Nerd

 BACKUP PLOTLINE   The Slacker

 PERSONALITY  ISTJ-A, Ravenclaw

+ calm, practical, strong-willed, dedicated
- blunt, judgemental, rigid, insensitive

blunt + insensitive; Jiyeon is the type of person who doesn't beat around the bush. She's a very direct person and will speak honestly about things, even if it unintentionally hurts someone's feelings. Jiyeon isn't trying to hurt their feelings, it just comes out that way by accident. She values honesty above most anything else and hates when people lie to her.

calm + practical; She's very good in a crisis or if a problem needs to be solves. Jiyeon really keeps her cool under pressure, rarely allowing stress to drive or pressure her. Works with effectiveness in mind over empathy or feelings. This is what allows Jiyeon to keep a clear mind and make rational decisions. It's rare that her feelings overcome her.

strong-willed + judgemental; Jiyeon has goals and she won't allow anything to get in the way of them. Once she's made a decision, she'll stick to her guns. This can also lead her to making incorrect assumptions about people and then having a difficult time reversing them. Jiyeon sees herself as very logical and is confident in her views.

rigid + dedicated; As stated, Jiyeon is very goal-oriented. This means she's very dedicated to her goals and strives to achieve them, no matter the cost. Jiyeon works her off, but this leads to her rigidity as a person. She has schedules and routines that she needs to stick to or she becomes uncomfortable. Jiyeon is basically the opposite of spontaneous.

 BACKGROUND

Jiyeon comes from a typical family- a mom, a dad, and an older brother. They even briefly had a cat named Peaches before he ran away. Her father is a garbageman and janitor while her mother is a dishwasher and works at a daycare. Seoul is an expensive city to live in, but her parents have too many emotional ties to even consider moving. Since both of her parents worked two jobs to make ends meet, Jiyeon and Jiseok have had to become independent and take care of themselves. Even despite her parents absence, Jiyeon really loves and appreciates them for everything they've done for her.

She's always known of her family's financial situation, despite her parents trying to keep it from her and her brother. Jiyeon has heard a few hushed arguments about money from the other side of the wall between her parents. This is what made Jiyeon want to go to JYP high. It's a very good school and will look good on university applications. She studied very hard in middle school and managed to get into JYP with a full scholarship, dependent on her keeping good grades.

Currently Jiyeon only has one friend, two if you count her brother or three if you include her literature teacher. She doesn't mind having a very small social circle, but she does feel like she's missing out on a lot of high school experiences. She sees everyone having fun and wants that too, but she can't bring herself to join in. It doesn't help that Jiyeon is also bullied. Not severely, but she'd have to be deaf not to hear the comments others make about her. Still Jiyeon keeps her head up high and focuses on her future goals instead of letting her present disappointments get her down.

Jiyeon's goal is to become a financial planning manager since the job pays really well and she'll be able to give her parents a good retirement. She would have become a doctor, but the sight of blood freaks her out so so much. No way would she be able to get through med school. Jiyeon doesn't have much interest in finance, but she's good at numbers and math so it's better than nothing. Even if Jiyeon wasn't focused on the money, she isn't sure what she would want to do anyways since she dosn't have many hobbies.

Love? No time for it. Jiyeon is far too focused on her future to even consider boys or dating at the moment. In her mind, it's a far off goal and she's got better things to focus on at the moment. That all goes out the window when her annoying older brother Jiseok meddles in her love life. He constantly teases her about her lack of male interest, lack of appeal, and lack of dates. At first Jiyeon just shrugs it of, but eventually it takes root and causes her to get angry at Jiseok. She replies that her not having a boyfriend is because she's not interested and not because boys don't like her. Jiyeon stupidly says 'I could get a boyfriend in no time'. Jiseok, noticing that she spends way too much time studying and doesn't focus on actually enjoying life, makes a bet with her. If Jiyeon can get a date to her senior prom then he will buy her the limited edition reprint of her favourite fantasy series. Jiyeon, blinded by ego and fandom love, agrees to the bet without a second thought.

TL;DR
She's just a poor girl from a poor family who studies her off to keep her JYP scholarship. Her older brother notices that she's too focused on the future and school and bets her to get a date to her senior prom.

  I AM YOU

 CONNECTIONS

— Older Brother :: Jung Jiseok (23) / Musician / playful, thoughtful, carefree / 8/10

Jiyeon and Jiseok have opposite personalities. She's serious and goal oriented, while Jiseok is very carefree. He's very much a 'go-where-the-wind-takes-him' kind of guy. Jiseok is rarely ever serious and always has a teasing remark for anyone, but especially Jiyeon. He adores teasing her and getting underneath her skin. But Jiseok will be the first person to come to Jiyeon's defense and take care of her in any situation (fc. CNBlue Jungshin)

— Mentor :: Park Jinyoung (26) / Lit. Teacher / sassy, studious, caring / 6/10

Jinyoung is Jiyeon's literature teacher at JYP high and her favourite teacher. She views him as a mentor and asks his advice about schooling and university. They have a good student/teacher relationship. Jinyoung and Jiyeon have a mini book club and exchange thoughts about books and poetry.

— Best Friend :: Han Sara (19) / Student / nerdy, introverted, bubbly / 9/10

Sara and Jiyeon are online best friends. They first met through a messaging board of their favourite fantasy book series and have been close friends ever since. Sara lives in Busan though, so they only see each other during summer holidays. They do send eachother Christmas and birthday presents throughout the year and talk almost every day. They can spend hours on the phone, each person on the other side doing their own thing and sitting together in comfortable silence. For Jiyeon, Sara is the only person that she feels 100% comfortable with. (fc. WJSN Bona)

 THE GIRLS

— Kang Iseul :: cheerful, helpful, bubbly (at first) :: 7/10
Jiyeon knows who Iseul is, pretty much everyone in the school does since she's dating Hwang Hyunjin. It's obvious that Hyunjin isn't loyal to Iseul, but Jiyeon stays in her lane and doesn't pay much attention to it. Not her business and she doesn't have time to worry about stupid things like who's dating who.

As the story goes on, Jiyeon and Iseul get to know each other better. When Iseul's true moody and kind of depressing personality is revealed, Jiyeon starts to like her a lot more. They're just on each other's wavelengths with being private and emotionally constipated. Neither of them really talk to each other about their problems, but can lowkey rely on each other.

The Beauty
Jiyeon very much doesn't agree with the fact that Beauty is after another girl's man. She doesn't make her disapproval known to anybody, but Jiyeon is judging her a lot. Her opinion only really changes when she sees how compatible Beauty and Chan are.

The Slacker
Slacker is for sure the one that Jiyeon gets along with the least. It's not because Slacker is a bad person, but because she has such a bad work ethic that Jiyeon can't get behind.

The Fighter
Out of all the girls, Jiyeon and Fighter get along surprisingly well. Neither of them really give a and that's just the vibe.

The Talkative
Jiyeon enjoys how extroverted and loud Talkative is. It makes it easier for Jiyeon to fade into the background.

The Mysterious
One of the girls that Jiyeon is closest to since Mysterious is also generally uninterested in boys and dating and love drama.

The Jock
Actually kind of get along. They definitely heads a lot at first, mostly because Jiyeon hates the fact that Jock is a rich , but after Jiyeon gets over it they're pretty chill together.

+ loyal, warm, observant, confident
- selfless, cold, sensitive, frivilous

cold + warm; Minho seems cold on the outside, but warm on the inside. He pretends he doesn't care even though he cares a lot. Minho will complain about somebody asking for a favour, but will actually go out of his way to help them. Overall, he's a guy that's very hard to pin down.

selfless + loyal; Straight up, Minho is a ride or die homie. He will do to the ends of the earth for you and has his friends' best interest in mind. Minho will give up the shirt on his back for anybody and is very sympathic to people. Sometimes though this leads people to treating him like a doormat and walking all over his kindness.

confident + sensitive; Minho is half-and-half insecure and confident. He's outgoing and confident in his relationships to other people. People often comment on his ego because he jokingly calls himself perfect. On the inside though, Minho is very sensitive and really takes criticism personally. frivilous; To make a long story short, Minho is loaded. He comes from a rich family and is an only child, so he has a lot of cash to flash. Sometimes he spends it on really stupid stuff. Minho doesn't really care about money though and will pay for something just to have it. He doesn't really evaluate whether he really needs something. Minho does also really enjoy spending money on his friends and will often pay when they go out to eat or spend lots of money on birthday gifts

 LOVE STORY

Minho and Jiyeon don't really know each other and have never interacted with one another. Jiyeon knows who Minho is of course since he's one of the most popular boys in school. She's of the opinion that he's a rich mummy's boy who doesn't really care about much and spends money like it's going out of style.

After Jiyeon accepts her older brother's bet, she immediately panics. But she already agreed and now her pride is on the line. Jiyeon doesn't know what to do, so she goes to her best friend Sara. Who is gay, dating a girl and, a year later, still isn't sure how that happened. So Jiyeon goes to the next best thing, her mentor and favourite teacher Jinyoung. Jinyoung is both amused and concerned about Jiyeon's decision making skills, but decides to help. He suggest she join the prom committee since it will introduce her to more people and will give her an excuse to talk to people about prom.

So this is how Jiyeon and Minho meet. Annd they don't like each other of course. Jiyeon has this preconceived notion of who Minho is and from what Jiyeon has seen, he matches it. Minho is put out that Jiyeon has such a bad opinion of him, but doesn't let it show how much it bothers him. Jiyeon is kind of rude towards him. As in if the group goes out for dinner and Minho pays for thing, Jiyeon kind of rolls her eyes- thinking that he's flashing his wealth on purpose. It's a big misunderstanding.

Things come to a head when Minho and Jiyeon get assigned to deal with the same task (buying decorations, sorting out catering, polling for a prom theme etc.) Jiyeon had already been having a bad day- lack of progress in getting a prom date, a bad grade in her science class, and a fight with her parents. So she was ier than usual. At first Minho shrugged it off, but eventually he snapped at her. Jiyeon was surprised at him snapping since he seemed to be such a collected kind of guy. Jiyeon apologizes and talks about her fight with her parents and her bad science grade. She reveals that she's on the scholarship program and that she needs to maintain high grades to keep it. Minho listens to her, which is kind of new for Jiyeon since she's usually the listener for other people.

After that, things are better between the two. Jiyeon makes a conscious effort not to be overly critical towards him and he makes himself available to listen to her. Over time the two are able to rely on one another. Jiyeon talks about her family's financial struggles and why she works so hard at school. In return, Minho talks about how his parents are away a lot which is why he holds his friends so close and how he feels kind of lost. Minho's able to get Jiyeon to loosen up and Jiyeon is able to get Minho to feel more motivated with school and suggests a few things that might be good for university.

Once Jiyeon becomes friends with the girls, she mentions to them the stupid bet she'd made with her brother. It's a big turning point in her bond with the other girls since she's pretty private. They suggest that she ask Minho and tell her that they think he has feelings for her. Jiyeon rejects this saying that she doesn't have feelings for him (she actually does though) and doesn't want to take advantage of that. Jiyeon would rather lose the bet than hurt Minho.

At the point when she tells the girls about the bet, Minho has developed feelings for Jiyeon and is fairly open in showing them. It's like a badly kept secret from the rest of the group. Jiyeon does have feelings, but they're shoved so far down that even Jiyeon doesn't even know about them. They're always being teased by the others which causes Minho to become slightly flustered, but Jiyeon pointedly ignores them.

Minho then confesses to Jiyeon a couple weeks before prom. Jiyeon is shocked, not expecting him to be honest with her about his feelings. She just responds that she knows and that she's sorry, but she can't accept his feelings. Jiyeon is still unaware of her more than romantic feelings for him. Minho is understandably devastated and distances himself from her to fix his broken heart. The boys try to cheer him up while the girl berate Jiyeon for rejecting him. They've noticed that Jiyeon seems less tense around Minho and how much she smiles around him. They're basically the ones that force Jiyeon into confronting her own feelings.

Even after Jiyeon realizes that hey, she's in love with Minho, she still doesn't pursue it. Jiyeon sees it as a waste of time since they're both graduating and she needs to focus on university entrance exams.

 ENDING

— Minho and Jiyeon both end up going to prom alone. Jiyeon lost the bet, but her brother doesn't gloat seeing how upset Jiyeon is about Minho. They sit at the same table for the meal and things are TENSE. Jiyeon is the first to crack and asks Minho to dance with her. This is when she bares her heart to him and tells him about her epiphany. He's so so happy that he sweeps her into his arms and kisses her for the whole room to see. Minho tells her that he doesn't care and that they should make the most of the summer they have together
