Confident and attention-seeking : Gloria knows she is physically attractive and a good dancer, and takes pride in it. She tries not to let negative criticism affect her. She makes sure to show off every opportunity she gets, because she loves knowing people are looking at her and find her attractive. She has no qualms using appeal to get people to notice her.

Loyal and protective : It's not easy for Gloria to make friends due to her fondness for quarreling when she is criticised or disagreed with, so she greatly cherishes those she who have proven her she can trust them and sticks by their side no matter what. If someone tries to badmouth someone she's close to, she will defend them with her life and attack them mercilessly.

Hardworking and zealous : Gloria gives her all in performing, especially dancing, as she has loved dancing since she was a child. She makes sure to practise until she can remember all the lyrics and hit all the right notes or memorise every move of a choreography and execute it perfectly before she goes for evaluations, often staying up long after the other members to practise alone.

Stubborn and proud : When Gloria’s mind is set on something, she’ll do everything she can to get it. Don’t try to tell her what she should do or what’s good for her, she won’t listen. Be careful not to upset Gloria, because she's not one to forgive easily and holds grudges. And when she has a grudge against someone, she won't apologise until the other person does. She's not someone to admit she is in the wrong easily.

Irritable and quarrelsome : Not only does Gloria dislike being criticised, but she has very strong opinions, and she doesn't like it when people disagree with her opinions. She sees it as the other person trying to challenge her. And when she gets challenged, she'll argue with the other person until they back down and admit she's right, or choose to disregard her because she's annoyed them to their limit.

Manipulative : Gloria seems to be sweet and friendly towards strangers and fans, but this is just a ploy to get them to support whatever she does and love her, or rather, the image of her she created for them. She's a smooth talker, and she knows exactly what to do and say to get what she wants from others.

Blunt : Going along with Gloria's fondness for quarreling, when she is angry or has a strong opinion, she will say exactly what is on her mind and doesn't care how offensive or insensitive she is being. Background.

Gloria was born in 1994 to a Korean father and American mother living in Los Angeles. As her mother was a ballet coach and former professional ballerina, Gloria often went to the ballet school where her mother worked as a child, and watched the ballerinas dancing. Enchanted by how they twirled and leapt in their tulle skirts and danced on the tips of their toes, Gloria told her parents she wanted to learn ballet when she was eight years old, and she got her wish. As a young ballerina, Gloria performed in many recitals, and quickly took a liking to the attention and praises she gained whenever she performed on stage.

When Gloria was thirteen years old, her family migrated to Korea due to her father's work. It was then that Gloria discovered several second generation groups while in Korea, and seeing how famous and loved by many people they were, she wanted to be an idol too. With her parents' permission, Gloria auditioned for several companies, and was eventually accepted to YI Entertainment as a trainee, and debuting in their girl group Sowon in 2009.

When Gloria moved to Korea, she and Silvia stayed in touch first through snail mail, then text messaging after Gloria got her first cellphone at the age of 13, and now through social media. Silvia has also supported Sowon since their debut, and went for their fanmeets / concerts if they went to America. The truth is, they had constantly been at loggerheads behind the scenes since 2010 even before the fight at Music Bank, and they haven't spoken to each other since Yuri left Sowon. Yuri had often lied that she left the group because like Yujin, she did not like the concepts they were doing. She knows that she's now a nobody, and everyone will be against her if she exposes Gloria. To this day, she's still angry and bitter that the whole world thinks Gloria is a sweet, nice and polite girl, when she knows for herself that Gloria is, in her words, a narcissistic fame and literal . Being an only child, Gloria had always wanted siblings, and when she joined Sowon, she got nine sisters. Admittedly, she started on the wrong foot with some of them due to her arrogant and quarrelsome nature, but over the years she's bonded with them so much and became willing to swallow her pride and admit she's wrong sometimes when she's around them. They're her best friends and she wouldn't trade them for anything in the world.

Trainee and Idol Life.
Gloria trained at YI Entertainment from 2007 to 2009.

Being a trainee was not a walk in the park for Gloria, who was still schooling when she started training and had to balance the long training hours with school, homework and exams. She would train for up to 12 hours a day with few breaks even to use the toilet, and despite her young age, was made to go on extreme diets when she was over a certain weight during height and weight checks. Furthermore, she often got scolded for minor things, and was punished for standing up for herself. However, one thing kept Gloria going - her dream of being a star and having many people love her. Gloria finally debuted as a member of Sowon in 2009, a far cry from the sweet and nice little girl she was just two years ago. In public, she acted like she was still one, but behind the scenes, she would complain about the hate comments she got and quarrel with her members over minor provocations. Because of this, in the early days, she did not get along with many of her members, and poor Yujin and Iseul often had to break fights up and mediate conflicts.

Speaking of not getting along with the other members, Gloria and Yuri had been rivals since debut. Yuri felt that despite her powerful singing voice which was stronger than many main vocalists at that time, Gloria got more attention not because she was a good dancer, but because she constantly played up her appeal. Gloria doesn't like people who shame her and think she doesn't put effort into her dancing, because she does, and showing off her appeal is just her way of being confident in herself. Despite them being in conflict since 2010, Gloria pretended to be friendly with Yuri in public, and the latter played along so as not to arouse suspicions among members of the public. However, when they had a final quarrel backstage at a Music Bank in 2012, none of them expected that someone had secretly recorded them. Gloria insisted that Yuri provoked her first, her members and management believed her, and Yuri got kicked out of the group. Though several fans became disillusioned and wondered if Gloria was actually the antagonist and had twisted the story to make others side her, many more believed she was innocent and told those who tried to defame Gloria off.

In YI, Gloria often felt that she was being restricted, as not only was Sowon often made to do cute concepts even after most of the members had came of age, but they never were allowed to pursue other activities. Puberty had turned Gloria into a tall and beautiful young woman, and she wanted to try out modelling. All the girls got so frustrated with their management that when their contracts expired in 2015, they decided not to renew them and opened their own company, Wish Entertainment. Including Gloria.

While promoting in Japan, Gloria discovered the anime Love Live and started to like the series, music and characters, and decided to cosplay one of the characters, Sonoda Umi, for fun. When she posted the picture of her Umi cosplay on her instagram, Gloria racked up thousands of likes within a day and many comments praising her for her good looks and accurate cosplay. Because of this, Gloria decided to do more cosplays. Gloria has also done many J-pop and K-pop dance covers on her Youtube channel, which is a hit due to her strong dance skills, her appeal and her accuracy when doing several extremely challenging dances, and done her own choreography for several songs.
