°。° 우미윤 IS READY FOR POISE ! °。°
"and graceful. hello, we are poise!" the rest concludes.
english: conversational (while attending high school, miyoon was able to take a few courses. she's not perfect, but her pronunciation is commandable and she's easy to follow for the most part).
우미윤
a story about a persistent, empathetic, dependable, protective and mature gal with a chip on her shoulder who is determined to make this time work. however, with so much weighing on this opportunity, insecurities, worry-wart tendecies, guilt and the over-extension of selflessness rears its ugly head in miyoon's direction as she tries to balance it all as the leader of poise.
she pours her soul into the music most days, moving her limbs to tracks and adjusting her rhythm to the different sounds and instrumentals in order to create a routine that she can be proud of. clementia constantly tells her that what she's contributed thus far is already amazing but miyoon doesn't feel like it's good enough. so, she starts tries again and again and again even as her muscles ache from exhaustion and her body is in dire need of fuel and we're not talking about copious amounts of black coffee.
when miyoon's not locked away in the studio of fortune entertainment, she's at the gym in a secluded corner on the expense of "friend's" membership, sharpening up on her dance skills. they tell her to "give it a rest", she reminds them that if it's not her, who would the others count on?
she had failed them—she had failed fama. A scandal that could have so easily been avoided if only miyoon had intervened before things could get too messy, too chaotic even for her to manage. She carried the hurt that all nine of them experienced like a necklace tightly and uncomfortably clasped around . The least she could do is reappear as the leader that she should have been with eon.
miyoon will not sit still and allow anything to mess up their chance again especially not when another company was taking such a gamble with them. the nine of them that had been casted aside by compass entertainment as if they never existed all in the name of love. she hadn't come this far to give up now...not when everyone else was so sure about this opportunity. She couldn't afford to clamp up.
besides, the others weren't only counting on her but minerva, clementia and fama too—although she knows Fama's heart isn't totally into it—but miyoon feels the stressful impact of it all, the most. compass never gave them this amount of creative freedom and here fortune was just tossing the responsiblity into their waiting laps like dog treats. so, all-nighters started to become routine to miyoon as she solely focused on different choreographies and many of the finished routines were self-deemed as failures. the ambition to debut again was slowly depleting within miyoon as concern started to take root instead.
what if fortune entertainment isn't happy with anything and benches them too? what if the title track doesn't garner the attention or success that they Are aiming for? what if the second time isn't the charm? What if another scandal tears them apart this time?
"no," miyoon speaks out loud, her voice annoyed and hoarse having not spoken in hours. she needed to remind herself why she was working this hard and what for. "they're counting on you and they deserve this chance again. You of all people know this."
2010-2011 • 10 months @ jyp entertainment.
miyoon is running through the routine again but manages to slip up just in the end causing the other girl to groan in defeat.
"you stayed up all night to practice and still can't manage the ending?" flora playfully scoffs as she tosses miyoon a bottle of water. "if we don't stick this landing, the instructor is going to have us by our throats!"
"i know, i know. i'll get it, trust me." miyoon assures before tossing the bottle to the side of the room. "if i just do it like—see! there! i got it!" miyoon exclaims, demonstrating the move again and again. and then the two run through the routine once more only to discover that miyoon really has nailed it.
"you've really got to stop staying up in all hours of the night, dancing." the younger woman scolds, "it does you no good. coffee isn't your friend, miyoonie."
"what if they don't choose us?" one of the girls sulks just as miyoon is entering the practice room.
"what if we are not good enough?" another pipes up.
"what if they have another vocalist in mind who can actually dance?"
"what are you going on about?" miyoon demands just as she pulls her hair into that signature messy style of hers. "you've got the voice of an angel or have you gone tone-deaf?"
"miyoon, you're always so confident." boram begins as she stands up to meet miyoon half-way across the room, "but we're not all like you. we aren't all so sure of ourselves."
"but you have every right to be. all of you do. i wouldn't have made it this far if it wasn't for you all," miyoon reminds boram as she meets the eyes of every single trainee squished into the training room. "and we are all going to debut. we'll debut together or even separately so long as we reach our goals and conquer our dreams."
"and you'll be our fearless leader, too, huh?" inna teases but despite the joking tone, it's exactly how miyoon's fate plays out.
"eon's miah is such a dancing queen and clementia's the dancing princess," she had once read on an online forum a year ago While on break at her part-time job. "too bad we'll never see the girls of eon again. this industry is truly missing talent."
fans actually miss us?
"ms. wu, are you listening?" the manager for the girl-group project at fortune entertainment interrupts miyoon's racing mind, her eyebrows kissing at the center of her forehead.
"shouldn't someone else be made leader?" miyoon starts, her voice hoarse with emotion. she didn't want to fail the girls again. "wouldn't someone so motherly and endearing like boram lead us into the success and victory?"
"kim boram whole-heartedly believes that only you can handle this position, as do the rest of the girls."
but i don't want to, miyoon wants to scream as guilt claws at her, suffocating and demanding.
"what happened at compass was unfortunate but it wasn't your fault—it wasn't any of you guys' fault," the manager tries to break through to miyoon but it's useless. "just trust us. i think this will be good for you in the end, ms. wu. besides, the ceo thinks it'd be good if you work on choreographing the debut track."
"black coffee?" flora screeches as she scrunches her nose up at the intruding scent within the practice room. "i thought you gave that stuff up cold turkey, years ago."
"it energizes me and helps me focus so i can choreograph."
"and then you barely manage a cat-nap before you're up and about again, slowly killin' yourself and for what?" venus interjects as a scowl appears on her pretty face. "both clementia and i agree that what you've come up with is so cool and even the manager would be impressed so, unnie—our dear miyoon, how can you not see it?"
stagename: sunra (선라).
on a scale of one to ten, how badly do you want to break up? if it's less than seven, then come on over and let's just, let's just, let's just make love.
the two had been dating in secret for months and although other trainees may have been suspicious, never once had either of them given any inclination of the truth. they kept business and personal separate and only met up when they were sure they had seclusion without any interruption. it was easy, at least at first. until seonra's schedule became demanding. compass was set to debut their next boy group and seonra was a strong contender so how could miyoon ever come in between a long-life dream? she had no right to do so and so, she did what she thought was best.
with blitz debut, meet-ups became a lot less frequent. text messages went unanswered, never-sent. phone calls were rare and moments of passing one another in the halls were scarce. each day, seonra capturing the hearts of many abraod and each hour, miyoon felt like she was losing a part of herself. seonra was a lot of firsts for miyoon. first kiss, first intimacy, first love and yet, she wouldn't be able to remain his first priority. then eon happened and so did the painful events that followed.
in technical terms, seonra and miyoon hadn't broken up. even as two years passed between debuts, neither hadn't the heart to utter such cruel words.
"let's break up."
she had been the one to initiate it and over a text of all ways but, he had so easily agreed and sent an "okay, let's," as a response.
her ringtone blares at two in the morning, startling the stray cat she's named nabi from her eating session near the opened window. quickly glancing at it, she picks up to be greeted with a ruckus of loud talking, glass clinking and panting.
"hello?" she quietly answers, "you have the wrong number?"
"hello, ma'am. i'm sorry to call so late," a voice starts and although he's speaking in a rushed tone, it's concise and easy to follow. "there's a guy here in the bar and he's way too pretty to be out here but he's so wasted and he won't wake up so i just called the first person in his phone and it happened to be you."
"i'll be there," miyoon replies as she rushes to slip on a jacket and shoes. "just tell me your location."
ain't even registered inside my head, still got this love for you deep-down in my bones.
♥
his body reeks of alcohol but miyoon just watches from afar as he rests on top of the duvet on her bed, her mind racing with millions of memories of the two of them and all the times they have ever been there for one another.
"i still haven't changed your name in my phone," seonra had confessed in his drunken state. "i guess somewhere deep down, it felt so wrong."
moving from her spot at the kitchen table, miyoon moves over to the mattress and sinks down next to seonra's sleeping form only to relish in the feeling as his arms wrap around her torso and the softness of lips press against the nape of her neck, "i just miss you," he whispers into her hair.
