background the eldest of the yoon clan, hwayool was used to being an only child until the year 2001 when saeyool made her entrance into the world, leaving a seven year old hwayool to feel a bit sad that she would have to share the limelight. yet despite having an infant in the household, their parents made sure to include the young child as much as possible. hwayool could say she did not grow up lacking any love in her home; she is incredbily grateful for it, even now as a twenty-seven year old adult.
she attended public schools until the age of sixteen when she and a plethora of other students were offered the opportunity to take a test for the prestigious collegiate academy on the outskirts of seoul. after contemplating it and considering her parents' opinions, hwayool took the plunge and passed the test with pretty great scores. the academy sent her out an acceptance letter and hwayool found herself enjoying the longer commutes from home to school.
but all is not well when hwayool finds that she is the emotional punching bag for everyone else's internal and external frustrations.
she's the reason why the class has to take extra time to go over complicated mathematic problems. she's the reason why they have to wait for a professor to break down the meaning of a complex poem, sentence by sentence. yoon hwayool is the very reason why so many frustrated parents are e-mailing the professors about their children's declining grades and definitely not because of their own unhealthy family home environments or their kids willingly skipping out on a lesson to make out with their boyfriends and girlfriends.
it isn't until hwayool's final year at the academy that she finds solace in her two favorite classes, business 101 and beginner english where she easily trumps the others. she's a quick learner and finds herself growing an interest in the intricate world of business and in english, she feels quite "fancy" and truly proud when she pronounces a word on the very first try.
the only class that truly killed her mood was a theater class that she was forced to enroll in as an extracurricular activity. the theater students found her lack of enthusiasm, aggravating and hwayool found their bizarre love for shakespear vexing. but she needed to pass the class even if she hated it with a passion. it isn't until the theater teacher presented a role to hwayool so long as she was willing to sing in english, she would pass the class with an a. and it is in those weeks of practicing that hwayool catches herself singing and humming at the oddest of times without even realizing it.
it isn't until the librarian assistant taps her on her shoulder in the two story library that hwayool adruptly stops and finds all eyes on her. each afternoon when the last bell would ring, hwayool would hurriedly pack her items and get a headstart to vocal practice with the theater class and each evening, hwayool would return home just before dark to work on her business class papers. as the graduation date approached for the end of her final year of high school, so did the time to debut the play and just like that, hwayool with a new found charisma and the rest of the theater class put on a fantastic show that even made ilsan's local papers.
when the time to attend university came about, hwayool chose to attend sookmyung women's unviersity and major in business but minor in music with a severe concentration on vocals. discovering this new love for singing brought about mixed emotions as she witnessed her younger sister participate on a couple of survival shows before officially debuting. and if saeyool could do it, why couldn't hwayool give the whole idol thing a try herself?

what more can a woman want than seemingly supportive parents about 70% of the time? jihwa is a worry-wart especially over the youngest, saeyool and saehyung's very untrusting of the entertainment industry after watching their baby's dream turn into an indefinite hiatus. surprisingly, both seem to have more confidence in hwayool succeeding her dreams since she comes from a smaller company than saeyool's pledis failures. though, both can agree that they're still slightly disappointed that they spent so much money on pushing hwayool through university only to end up as a trainee.

if this was another life, jaewoong would stay far away from hwayool because truthfully, she's a bit of a wild card and totally grates jaewoong's nerves. honestly, he loves hwayool with every fiber of his being but delivering good or bad news to her leaves him anxious and her all the more irrational. especially when the company has promised to keep her a solo artist only for the public to prefer her grouped with three other strangers. if only his boss would care to give him a raise then maybe this situation would be much, much more tolerable.

trainee life with being main vocalist material, hwayool had the potential to be in an upcoming girl group that mnh was planning for. however, after a couple of weeks of training, the instructor recognized the discord and awkwardness of their new trainee. she rarely spoke and when she did, it was only when she was called on to sing a note or to check if she was in step with the others in rehearsal. hwayool was a hard-worker but the failure to connect with the others baffled the staff members of mnh. even after having a one-on-one with the ceo himself, they discovered that hwayool was never meant to be a group member but a soloist. chungha was grabbing the hearts of the nation with her dance skills, mnh didn't necessarily need another dance machine but one whose vocals could captivate and charm the world.

so at the end of a performance, a couple of audience members witnessed the displeasure plastered on hwayool's face. at first, they thought that her stilettos were bothering her because she's mentioned it publically many of times that she hates the pain they cause her but when the members were rushing past her, she sent them all an aggravated, seething look. even the usually cheerful maknae looked visibly shaken by the glare and hurried off towards the other members.

tl, dr: a bunch of anti-fans of harper or fans of the other bejewel members started a thread discussing harper's future if she hadn't been apart of bejewel.
there's not much to say here. just a bunch of negative people stating that if he wasn't for the veteran or the rookie being apart of bejewel then harper wouldn't be a name discussed amongst the population. others state that chungha is better by a land-slide. some pity harper for not being an actress instead since she is so beautiful. blah, blah, blah, they keep talkin', she'll keep walkin'.

let's be honest here, hwayool's never been a crowd favorite and that was apparent all throughout school. she can get along with others but to have a genuine friendship is beyond her as she doesn't care to open up. when it comes to performing, she'd rather be her own burden and not have to worry about others giving her dirty looks if she does the wrong move at the bridge part of the song or slowing them down. it's when you're in an idol group, you're expected to dance, be perfect and in sync and quite frankly, it isn't hwayool's strongest suit.
when she's alone, it's only her and no one else. sure, her fans may be a small group of people but at least she can say those people are loyal to her. at least she can say they like her. however, she's stuck now. those same fans like her even more now that her name's attached to three others; she's gained new fans who seem to appreciate her vocal ability and adore her odd personality and quirks. her name has appeared in so many different articles online with much more comments and reactions than ever before and hwayool's really confused. her company promised her a solo career, they knew placing her in a group could be detrimental to her psyche and yet, bejewel is becoming a permanent thing; a project turned group and she doesn't know how to feel, how to compute or what to do.
is being alone, solo more important than singing? wasn't this what she was meant to do all along? she wanted to sing, it's just now she has to share with others.
