BASICS!
BIRTH NAME. Lee Youngjae.

NICKNAMES.

► JAE - Short for his name and only his close friends call him this.
► DARK LORD - His friends call him this due to his dark and gloomy nature. Also because he often says bright expressions and speeches in an eerie tone.
YOUNGMOODY - Again, his friends call him this for he often has mood swings. When he has a headache, he'd be all cranky and they'd stay away from him until he feels better, if they know best.
HUICHEOL'S VOR - Given to him by other Ledrith students. VOR being short for 'voice of reason' wherein Youngjae often steps up to calm or tone down his hot-headed bro when he's around him. Though there are occasional moments where he's so done with Huicheol that he just lets his friend be and just stands by and sighs or walks away, especially when he has a headache, he can't deal with Huicheol.

BIRTHDATE. June 22, 2011.

BIRTHPLACE. Seoul, SK.

HOMETOWN. Seoul, SK.

GENDER IDENTITY. Male (He/Him).

ETHNICITY. Korean.

NATIONALITY. South Korean.

UAL/ROMANTIC ORIENTATION. Hetero.

LANGUAGES SPOKEN.

► KOREAN (Fluent) - His native language.
► ENGLISH (Basic) - Started learning the language in his first year as it's mandatory to learn it at the academy. Despite it being his fourth year, Youngjae is still weak. Let's just say he's not that bright academically.
LOOKS!
FACE CLAIM. Bae Jinyoung.

BACK UP. Heo Hyunjun aka Hwall.

APPEARANCE. Youngjae has a lean and fit body. He has a naturally clear skin that's not quite tanned but not white either. Though his cat-like eyes are accompanied by a bit of dark undereye circles due to lack of sleep. His hair is naturally jet black in medium length and bangs that can cover his eyes which they usually do. Youngjae rarely grins but when he does he has a boxy grin. In fact, despite his black bags, people compliment his small face, features, and overall good looks but he just shrugs it off.

HEIGHT. 178 cm.

WEIGHT. 62 kg.

STYLE / FASHION.
Youngjae wears his uniform almost haphazardly. If his shirt isn't completely ed with a black t-shirt underneath (which is his go-to style) then it's the first three buttons ed with his tie half loose. When not in uniform, he tends to go overboard with the black palette in his outfits. One would think he only owns black items of clothing, but what can I say, the boy loves his dark color. His friends keep pointing out and teasing his constant choice of dark clothing, especially during the summer weather, but he couldn't care less.

Then: Youngjae was an energetic and jolly kid, loved to smile and talk all day, but he didn’t have many opportunities toplay around with other kids his age due to his mother not leaving the house much but when he did, he got along with the kids. Despite that, he was tender and appeared to be optimistic most of the time. Influenced by his mother and a true testament of modesty, to be someone who does not hurt other people, but rather absorb the torment. However, this lack of assertiveness normally got him scolded by his father for he thinks a man should be strong and tough or they’d be taken advantage of. These were perhaps his greatest weakness in his father’s eyes. However, after watching first hand his father’s dark side, Youngjae’s perspective of the world darkened and that was the start of his change.

Now: He may act nonchalant towards others. And due to his constant stoic face, other inferior codes deem him as intimidating or unapproachable. Youngjae’s a reserved person with a small limited social circle. He isn’t socially awkward, per say, but he prefers it that way for he sees too many social interactions as a hassle and doesn’t help his case of his headaches. However, when he does decide to open his mouth, he wouldn’t hesitate to tell you what he thinks. Youngjae could be one blunt mo-fo. At least in this sense, he's unrestrained and unpredictable, amongst all things. He’s become nihilistic and gloomy after going through all that he’s been through with his family problems and honestly would you blame him? He has trouble opening up and accepting help from strangers because of his fear of them failing to help him. So, unless someone cracks into his shell, he can only depend on himself. He can be very manipulative when he wants to. He's very good at influencing people and changing meanings to words said to benefit what he wants to do. Sometimes it just happens, other times he does it on purpose (only if it’s for a good cause). Usually, he's very slouchy due to insufficient sleep. Those around him got used to it and say that it's normal for Youngjae to be like a walking corpse. At times, he can be very moody due to stress or pain. His thoughts/inner voices stress him out and gives him severe headaches, assignments and classwork stress him, and life stresses him. He tries to hide it (but severely failing every time and caused his close friends to give him the nickname Youngmoody), but sometimes it just gets to a point where he just sits in his room staring at a wall and doesn't move, losing sleep. This just shows that no matter how hard he tries to conceal or deny his feelings and pain and acts like he’s alright, he can be breakable too when things get rough. His usual demeanour and behaviour may be slouchy but it only becomes even more so when he loses sleep (his body having little energy).

Youngjae hates to admit it, but he believes the last words he heard from his father are true. He can’t afford to be weak in this world. And because of that, he’s hardworking, and that’s one of the many reasons he won’t fail to put in all his effort during ability applications and physical education classes. Despite seeming as unapproachable and intimidating at first, once people get to know Youngjae, they say that he is a little nicer and can be considered more bearable than his best friend Huicheol. While Huicheol is crude and temperamental, Youngjae is warm and pleasant to people. Even when he’s moody due to his headaches, he’d rather stay silent (unless someone really pushes his buttons). Like Huicheol, his classmates see him as serious and cool, but it wasn’t always that way. He may be confident in his self now but he wasn’t always like that. He used to hate how destructive his powers can be and was even embarrassed by it. In his first year at Ledrith, many students noted that people never saw his power for he refused to show it at first, but they were aware of what his power was. After he became close to Huicheol though, he was told by the other boy that his power could help people too. That he could make it not be as destructive as he sees it by learning how to control it, that way, he can direct his power towards enemies and protect those dear to him. Those words were the beginning of his new found confidence and determination. He may have learned to love his power but he still deeply despises its side effects. Also, once he makes a connection with someone though (meaning once he comes to trust them), he becomes faithful, dedicated, and loyal. Genuine, even. There isn't anything he won't do for them. There's nothing better for him than people who accept him for all he is. Good and bad. The only people noted that currently fit that category are Huicheol and their dueling team. He’s bold and gallant. As much as he treasures his life, if the people close to him were threatened, he would not hesitate to stand up in the face of danger and put his life on the line for them.

BACKGROUND!
Sunghee and Kyungmin met at an academy that nurtures and teaches supernatural students (just like Ledrith) in the US. That’s when they fell in love with each other. Then later, Sunghee discovered that she was pregnant with Kyungmin’s child. They were wild and reckless teenagers. She was scared and didn’t know what to do since she was only 19 years old then, both of them were. They weren’t ready to become parents. However, Kyungmin assured her that they can work it out together. So, they got married at a young age, quit school, and moved together to Seoul.

There, Sunghee knows that Kyungmin secured himself a “stable job” but she doesn’t know what it is for he refused to tell her stating that “all that matters is that it helps us” and tells her to just focus on her pregnancy. She was no doubt suspicious but decided to put her trust on her young husband. Months later, Sunghee gave birth to their baby boy, Youngjae. She was a loving and caring mother who dedicated all her time to raising her child while Kyungmin worked most days until night. Sunghee noticed Kyungmin’s change in behavior where they rarely talked anymore and when they do his replies are short and right on point. He became short-tempered and dismissive of his family. She dismissed it though thinking it must be from his work’s stress.

Then one night, when Youngjae was 6 years old, he woke up due to a nightmare. Scared, he rushed to his parent’s room and shook the only body he could find on the side of the bed, which was his mother. The moment the older woman opened her eyes to look at Youngjae, her face expression contorted and she looked like she was in pain. Worried, he got closer and held her face but that only caused her to shudder and let out a groan, her face turning red. Freaking out, Youngjae turned around to look at his sleeping father for help, but his mother seemed to be fine after he turned back to her except for her heavy breathing. She asked Youngjae what happened, and when the young boy told her, she couldn’t help but be curious of the reason she suddenly felt a strong pain after she locked eyes with her son. After some little experimentation, she discovered that her son has developed his power. She chuckled at how his power was actually contradictory to hers and her husband's. Though she couldn't help but feel worried. Her son's power can be dangerous and deadly if not used correctly or properly. So she did the only thing she could think of which was telling Youngjae to avoid making any eye contact with anyone at all cost. When Kyungmin was told that his son has developed his power, he wanted to send Youngjae to Nelore Academy where he can start learning to properly use and control his power but Sunghee refused knowing fully well that she won’t be able to see her son if she sent him. She knows it's selfish of her to think that way and that it's logical for her to send Youngjae to the academy but he’s all she has and sending him away would make her lonely. So, no matter how much Kyungmin tried, she was fixated on her choice.

Later, things went downhill when Sunghee came to see a text from her husband’s phone. Putting two to two together, she discovered that his job was actually gang related. She confronted him about it which irked Kyungmin, so that was the beginning of the many physically assaults to come. Kyungmin hasn't felt pain for several years now that he forgot the feeling and doesn't sense when he goes too far with his beating until he sees bruises forming on his wife's body. 9-year-old Youngjae remembers seeing and hearing his mother crying often because of his father when she appears with bruises. Despite her hardship, she still cared for her boy in these dark times. When he expressed his worry over someday becoming a man like his father, she assured him that he can become whatever he wants to be. He once witnessed his father hitting his mother through the small crack of their bedroom door when he was passing by and he felt furious towards the man that called himself his father. Just then, a voice in his head whispered 'You could save your mother, you know. Just say the word. Say pain.' Youngjae was really tempted to say it but he stopped himself last minute and ran to his room. He never heard the voice again so he didn't tell his mother about it.

In time, Sunghee finally divorced Kyungmin, however, started to lose her sanity due to all the abuse she’d received from her now ex-husband and found it painful to look at Youngjae because the boy grew up to look a lot like his father and she hated it. One day, as she talked with her therapist over the phone about her trauma and recognized that she no longer had the mental stability to raise her son, she was startled by Youngjae’s sudden appearance at the door. Seeing the boy’s face, she snapped, and repeatedly slapped his face hard. It was the first time his mother ever laid hands on him. However, Youngjae bore no ill feelings against her for this incident, instead directing it at his father, whom he blamed for both his and his mother's suffering.

Some time after the incident, Sunghee was admitted to a psychiatric ward and so Youngjae unwillingly went into his father’s custody. He refused to speak to the man, not like he was home often, unless he really really had to, which often ended with an arguement and Youngjae stomping off. He was home schooled before by his mother but with her gone, he got enrolled into a middle school.

You could say, Youngjae was a total outcast in middle school. The kids were intimidated by him, with his bangs covering his eyes in order for him to not be able to make eye contact with others remembering his mother's words and his stoic face. However, after an incident where some bullies tried to hurt him and he angrily directed his power towards one of them causing the rest of the bullies to freak out over why the boy suddenly fainted after screaming in pain for minutes straight. Kyungmin knew of his son’s unstable power that would activate whenever his emotions stir and cause himself to have headaches and restless nights. The boy would try to direct his power towards his father everytime they argued but Kyungmin is immune to his son's powers. Tired of Youngjae's feeble state, he forcibly enrolled him into Ledrith Academy. The last thing Youngjae heard from his father was “You’re weak and you know what happens to the weak in this world? They get trampled over. And no son of mine will be a wuss. I’ll see you when they toughen you up.” Youngjae despises the man that so calls himself his father. He only sees him as a tool and not as a son. So, 15-year-old Youngjae started attending the academy and has been for 4 years now. Youngjae is glad his father sent him to the academy cause honestly he’d rather be anywhere but with his father. Ledrith isn’t all bad, too. He made friends like Huicheol and his dorm mates, met some good and helpful professors, actually enjoys the dueling tournaments, and so on..

RELATIONS!
FAMILY.

► Father | Lee Kyungmin (38y.) | Pain Suppression | 1 out of 10 FC: Lee Joongi. Youngjae later learned from his mother that his father is a leader to one of the biggest gangs currently in Seoul, but that, of course, is his underground work and to the public, he’s viewed as a successful businessman. His relationship with his father is on negative terms. He despises and resents his father for his abuse against his mother. After his mother was sent to the hospital, Youngjae outright told his father that he hated him, blaming him for everything that had happened. He never saw or spoke to the man after he was sent to Ledrith Academy. He constantly says that he’ll never become a person like his father.

► Mother | Kim Sunghee (38y.) | Healing | 3 out of 10 FC: Shin Minah. Unlike his father, Youngjae's mother was kind, caring, and loving towards him, and in return, he loved her deeply. Even during her own dark times, she still supported and protected him. However, soon his mother went insane because of his father’s abuse and she started to hate the man. As he grew up and started to look more like his father, he noticed his mother distancing herself from him until the day she snapped and was thus taken to the hospital and him sadly into his father’s care. Even after everything that happened in the past, Youngjae still loves his mother. He feels bad for not standing up for her when he could have and just idly watched her suffer his father's abuse and he hates himself for it. He hasn’t seen or talked to her since the incident. Though Youngjae sends her letters from time to time regarding what's going on in his life but never gets a reply. He isn’t giving up though.

FRIENDS/CLASSMATES.

► Pet Crow | Nameless | ♂️| 5 out of 10. Given to him by his father when he first entered Ledrith. Youngjae was just utterly confused as to why his father would give him a crow. He hated the sight of the bird at first for it just served as a reminder of his father to him, leaving his roommates and friends to kind of take care of the bird instead. As Youngjae never bothered to give the crow a name, Huicheol kept calling him "nameless" ("nameless damn bird" to be exact) which the bird adapted to and now only responds to that name. In time, Youngjae got used to the bird and actually takes care of him instead of his roommates and friends, occassionally giving him shelled peanuts as treats. Though he still shoos Nameless away when he tries to stand, sit, or land on his shoulder. Nameless is mostly left cageless so he's often seen roaming and flying around the academy grounds and comes back flying through the dorm room window when he's hungry. Nameless is a smart sneaky bird and can even talk, repeating what he's heard the students and teachers say. Youngjae's roommates, even Huicheol low-key, find it amusing when the crow would come and repeat everything he's heard in the school grounds, sometimes spilling some tea and drama. His favorite sentence to say though is "Go away you stupid bird!" Which is what Youngjae kept telling him in his first two years.

► Close Friend | Chae Huicheol (4th Year) | 10 out of 10 FC: Park Jihoon. Here is Ledrith's official hothead and probably one of the most hated students. Though he is also, surprising at first for everyone, Youngjae's closest friend. But everyone their year and older know the two, now close friends, didn't get along the best at first. In fact, they almost blew up (literally) their dorm room in their first year when they got into an arguement which they later got stuck with campus cleaning duty for a week as punishment. That was the start of Youngjae trying to understand the explosive boy since he figured he should try to get along when they'd be seeing each other often. After some awkward unpleasant interactions and quiet analyzing, Youngjae saw the little good things about Huicheol that many others didn't. His good intended actions in disguise. Huicheol actually used to feed Nameless by tossing seeds in his cage claiming he doesn't "eat this ". Knowing everyone has a reason for being how they are, Youngjae started attempting to get closer to the other boy. Huicheol did push him away at first but gave up later seeing Youngjae was persistent. Through years, the two boys developed mutual respect for each other and adapted to each others flaws. So Youngjae is used to Huicheol's cursing, insulting, and aggressive behavior. While Huicheol is used to Youngjae's moodswings and reserved and gloomy nature. Though, Youngjae does believe his friend's ego and temper can be a bit too much at times and finds himself calming, toning down, or helping Huicheol. The other students and professors noticed that Youngjae is the only person who can do that without Huicheol getting mad, pissed, or hurting his pride. Also, Youngjae witnesses a side of Huicheol he doesn't show others (his vulnerable side) when they have their late midnight serious conversations. They've been roommates since their first year and this year is no exception.
► P.S so I was searching about their mbti's friendship compatibility and I found a bunch of pics I thought perfectly describe Huicheol and Youngjae lol  (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9)

► Fellow Student | Wang Seolhyun (4th Year) | 2 out of 10 FC: Seo Soojin. Honestly, the two fellow fourth year students have no relationship whatsoever. They've never talked to each other or anything and Youngjae doesn't plan to. The girl always seems angry and intimidating (little does he know that that's because he mostly encounters her when he's with Huicheol and well, the two hot-heads can't stand each other). He usually just stands by when she and Huicheol exchange insults. Hell no way is he getting involved in these two's bickering and arguing ever again. The first time he did, they both directed their anger at him like they were wild cats ready to pounce on a prey. And no he's not scared from them. Okay, maybe a little when it comes to this devil girl's glare. Though during combative classes and/or dueling tournaments, Seolhyun no doubt is Youngjae's weakness, being capable to free his targets from his pain illusion (which then his best option would be to target her and leave his team to deal with the others). So, he always hopes not to have her, or any Telepath, in the opposing team.

► Fellow Student | Lee Mina (1st Year) | 5 out of 10 FC: Jang Wonyoung. Just like any other inferior code and underclassman, Mina always kept her distance from Youngjae, seeing the older male as intimidating with his constant stoic face and slouchy demeanour. However, her view of him changed after one incident. When she was being pushed around by other higher code students with them teasing her for being weak and weird, Youngjae was laying on a branch of the tree right above them trying to nap. Feeling annoyed by the loud noises disturbing his nap, he grumbled, "what's with all this freaking noise?" as he jumped down from the branch. He directed his glare towards the students standing which caused them to stutter out excuses upon recognizing him and scurrying away, dropping a book behind them. Youngjae curiously picked up the book seeing the name 'Lee Mina' engraved on it. He turned around to finally notice that there was a girl sitting there with her head low. Thinking the book might be hers, he walked towards her and dropped the book in front of her before walking away, not thinking much of the situation. The next day, Mina wordlessly approached him and gave a him a single peach flower before walking away, which left him wondering who she was and why she gave him a flower (he didn't get to see her face that day since she had her head hung low). From then, whenever Mina encounters Youngjae in the hallway or wherever, she'd give him a small smile while he'd just look away and brush it off.

PROFESSORS.

► Cho Jongsuk | 7 out of 10. As the personal counselor and mentor of red codes, Youngjae often ends up in Professor Cho's office whether it's due to other professors complaints or just to talk. Despite being charismatic and stern during his classes, Youngjae can see that Professor Cho actually cares and is concerned about his red code students when not in class and so he found himself opening up a little to the older male after his frequent office visits. Professor Cho is aware of Youngjae's inner voices, a downside of using his power, and past struggles and so he's a bit (stress on the bit part) lenient towards the boy and tries hard to give him useful advices. Fun fact: Youngjae made Jongsuk frustrated to no end during his first year where the boy strongly refused to showcase his power and was stubborn enough to even skip the ability applicatons classes.

► Ahn Chul | 6 out of 10. The Cultural and Foreign Languages professor. Honestly, Youngjae severely admires Professor Ahn's patience with him. If he were in Professor Ahn's place, he'd have slammed their English textbook on his head a hundred times already. Professor Ahn has been teaching him the English language for four years now but with very unsatisfying results. Though, the older teacher never once scolded Youngjae and always just asks the boy what he's struggling with and explain what he doesn't understand the best he can. Feeling bad for Professor Ahn's neverending determination to teach him and hope in him, Youngjae actually really tries his best to stay awake during the English class despite his results not being in his favor.

► Won Youngran | 6 out of 10. He first met Youngran in his first year at Ledrith and saw her frequently as she kept insisting to help him with his struggles when she noticed him facing some. She was persistent and stubborn enough to drag him to the counseling sessions and worked on improving Youngjae's mental health throughout his first two years until he felt better (a lie he did his best to make her believe in order to avoid anymore therapy). However, as Youngjae started using his power more during classes and tournaments, he started facing some new struggles from his inner voices like his headaches and lack of sleep. As the nurse, Youngran got used to Youngjae's frequent visits to either get some Tylenol for his headaches or lay down on one of the beds there to nap and she'd check up on him when he does so.

► Hak Sangdong | 6 out of 10. Other than the Ability Applications class, Youngjae really enjoys Professor Hak's Physical Education class. As an athletic boy, Youngjae likes to challenge his body and see how far he can go and take. Also, because while working out he seems to be able to easily tone out the voices in his head in order to concentrate in breathing when he's out of breath. However, in Professor Hak's competitive class, Youngjae often has to tone down and hold back Huicheol (though sometimes he'd just sigh and let him be) as this is where his friend's ego and temper sky rockets, other than the Ability Applications class too.

ENEMIES/RIVALS.

► Being a close friend of Huicheol and part of his circle, it comes as a given to have a couple of enemies here and there. However, none of them are significant enough for Youngjae to care about or note of. Also, no student would dare cross him, if they know better.
DAILY LIFE!
Youngjae is fairly popular in the academy for being part of Huicheol’s clique. He has a reputation for being intimidating and unapproachable. So most student, especially inferior codes, keep their distance from him. Also, there’s a few who are scared of him, knowing how dangerous his power is. Although, everybody knows that he’s a little nicer and can be considered more bearable than Huicheol. Honestly, he doesn’t blame them for thinking of him that way for after all, the only people who witness his somewhat playful side are his close friends. Despite all that, he still attracts girls’ attention due to his good looks.

Let’s just say Youngjae isn’t the brightest student in the academy. He usually scores within the bottom ten of his grade but that doesn’t mean that he’s completely dumb. No, it’s more like he can’t for the life of him concentrate in class either due to a headache, the teacher’s voice gets overpowered by his inner voices, he hasn’t slept properly the night before, or all the reasons. In result, he’d daydream or snooze off in the middle of class. So he’d often get reprimanded, yelled at, a book smacked at his head or, in Professor Mae’s case, startled awake by a loud popper. And when sent to Professor Cho’s office to be dealt with, he’d just trudge there sporting a stoic face, not feeling at all apologetic for sleeping in class and just let’s all nagging go loose.

You have no idea how much he can’t stand the Sciences and Psychology classes cause he doesn’t understand jack . Then there’s Professor Keun who gives homeworks as if he’s giving away candy. Honestly, if he had a choice, he’d rather be stripped to a torture device. Okay, that might be an exaggeration but it’s a tempting thought. Do you really want to know the list of classes Youngjae hates? Cause that would be long but here goes: Literature and Composition, History and Government, Mathematics, Liberal Arts and Music, and well Sciences and Psychology.

Youngjae’s carefreeness makes him not really put an effort in actually trying to concentrate or stay awake in classes he’s, in all honesty, not interested in. However, it’s important to note that once a class captures his interest, like the Ability Applications and Physical Education classes, he’d be seen putting an effort, and that also includes the Foreign Languages (English) class but out of relent to Professor Ahn’s determination instead of interest.

Not only in classes but also in general, Youngjae sticks to his friend group who are Huicheol and the dueling team. So, if he’s not chilling with them and going along with their plans then he’s alone somewhere taking a nap on a tree branch or if he can’t sleep then he’d be working out or training (combat and ability control). As for studying, he only does it last minute before exams which doesn’t really help his case. So, he’d force his smartest friends, including Huicheol, for a cramming session that he’ll only take seriously for about two hours before giving up and leaving Huicheol threatening to explode his stash of comics if he fails. Youngjae knows they’re empty threats for he’s been hearing the same words for four years now but he also won’t be surprised if his friend does actually follow with his threat someday. Honestly, the only reason he’s passing is due to Huicheol and his friends forcing him to do his required work.

DORM!

Youngjae lives at the fourth years student dorm with a couple other fellow students and Huicheol being amongst them. His side of the room is actually pretty plain. A fake fur carpet, piled up books making a make shift table with a clock on top, and glossy white wooden dressing cabinets. His bed sheets and pillows are in white and various grey shades and is always unkempt with his laptop being somewhere amongst the sheets. He calls it a "messy aesthetic". And in the corner is his pet's, Nameless, cage. While the crow is mostly out roaming around campus, he does occassionally come back to rest in his cage or get treats. After a certain incident 3 years ago where Nameless accidently flew into a girls' dorm room, Youngjae now places a cactus on their dorm room's widow sill for Nameless to certainly know which room to come flying into. In contrast to his dark concept, Youngjae's room is surprisingly white, way in contrast to his dark and gloomy usual self, but in his reasoning, his dad's secretary bought all the furniture and items when he first moved and he was too lazy to buy new ones so he decided to just go with whatever he got.

ABILITY. Pain Illusion.

THE POWER.

Youngjae can trick an individual's mind into thinking they are in physical pain. Though it has no physical affect on the body, the pain can be quite effective to put a target down no matter the size.

STRENGTHS.

► He can put down targets twice his size, giving him the upper hand.
► If overly powered, he can drive a person insane with the pain or even torment to death by overloading the brain.
► With the perfect concentration, he can control the level of pain he deludes on others. He's numbered the levels of pain from 1 to 10. Level 1 is like a pinch, levels 7 and 8 can cause insanity, while levels 9 and 10 can kill. When in dueling tornaments, the highest level of pain he'd use is a level 6.

WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS.

► Users of shield and invisibility are highly resistant, users of immunity are well immune, and users of telepathy can free themself and other targets from the pain illusions with strong willpower.
► Since it's just an illusion, he can't create real physical damage.
► He can use it on one target at a time since he needs to keep looking at his target.
► Using his power requires a great amount of concentration. So, if he doesn't concentrate enough, his power will go unruly and induce either less or much more pain than he intended. Though he would immediately close his eyes to stop the effect when he notices that.
► Using his power causes the sadistic voice in his head to be louder. So, in normal days, the voice in his head is like a low whisper which he learned to tune out. However, after using his power, the volume of the voice becomes louder for hours which he has difficulty tuning out and causes him to have a headache. Due to that, you won't see him around campus flouncing around his power.

MENTAL/PHYSICAL HEALTH.

PTSD/DEPRESSION - When Youngjae first came to Ledrith, the student counselor, Youngran, noticed something was up with the young boy. So, after a couple of one on one counseling sessions with him along with a psychiatrist, he was diagnosed with PTSD and depression. It doesn't come as a surprise if you know of his parents history. For years, he's been undergoing treatment and therapy and he keeps insisting he's all better in that aspect now. But deep down, he knows he's not. He still feels empty and he hates that all therapy attempts didn't help and he's just tired of it. Though, Youngran never ceases to stop checking up on him everytime the boy is in the nurse's office.
SEVERE HEADACHES/MILD INSOMNIA - The reason why Youngjae is often found in the nurse's office is either to take a nap or in search of tylenol. Whenever he uses his power, he'd have a severe headache. Thus the tylenol being his drug. Although, some nights, the tylenol isn't effective enough and he'd wake up in the middle of the night due to the voice in his head. After waking up, he often has difficulty falling back asleep and ends up staying up all night. This boy is sleep deprived which explains his low grades and slouchy behavior.
INTERVIEW!
Youngjae, after waiting for at least half an hour in a long line of students, was finally being ushered past large, ornate doors, into a spacious room. There are navy colored, golden trimmed curtains framing massively huge windows that overlook one of Ledrith's impressive gardens. While the room is bright with natural light, a certain unnatural glow is evident. As the large doors slam shut behind Youngjae, he quickly finds himself face to face with a masked figure seated at a mahogany desk. For some reason, Youngjae feels as if he knows this person, but they can't tell for sure. The masked figure, twirling a pen in their right hand with a small stack of papers in front of them, motions for Youngjae to take a seat. Youngjae doesn't take his eyes off the masked figure as he caustiously moves towards the seat. Once seated, he scrutinizes the strangely familiar stranger. Seemingly amused, the masked figure clears their throat. "Shall we begin?" Youngjae still isn't quite sure why Ledrith is holding student interviews in the first place. However, seeing as there is no choice anyways, Youngjae nods.

LOVE STORY!

LOVE STORY/RELATIONSHIP.

For Youngjae, he'd always felt weirdly comfortable around Jieun, ever since he first saw her in first year but didn't know who she was, and he didn't know why and just ignored it. He'd often see her with Seolhyun and the only interactions between them are when they're both exasperated from their hot-headed friend's argument. With Jieun approaching Youngjae like, "This will take a while. Do you want to take a walk? They will come after us" and him rolling his eyes and quietly following her. Or both of them crossing their arms and looking at the two like "Have you finished? Can we go now?" That's it.

However, once Youngjae hears about her power from other gossiping students talking trash about her and other inferior codes, he'd guess the reason why he always felt calm and comfortable around her is due to her nullifying power stopping the voices in his head. He’d also internally scoff at them thinking that the red code students are too confident about their powers. He believes that Jieun can render most of them useless if she learns how to effectively use and control her power in battle. That deeming the girl as weak just cause she's a yellow code would be underestimating her. He keeps a mental note to be cautious with her if ever faced by her.

So, after the discovery, he finds himself often seeking her out to get a moment of silence in his head and relax. He always just quietly sat near her and relish the short-lived peace. He does that for some time and honestly, he isn't sure if Jieun has caught on to it cause he wasn't being subtle but his question gets answered one day when the girl asks him about it. Youngjae thinks there's no point in lying and just tells her the truth which Jieun understands. After that, when Youngjae would seek Jieun, he'd quietly sit beside her instead of keeping a distance. With both of them being the quiet introverted type,it did take some time for them to initiate conversation, but after that, the two better understood each other and found some common ground. The more time Youngjae spent with Jieun, he found the girl easy to talk and open up to. Soon, he even started joining her in training. With Jieun training him with combat skills and kicking his while Youngjae helping her in controlling her power since both of theirs are similar in a way they need to concentrate enough and not let their emotions hinder them. It's a win-win situation for both.

Many Ledrith students didn’t fail to notice how the two are seen with each other and the unlikely friendship forming. However, Youngjae didn’t think much on the consequences of their friendship since after all, despite some red codes and friends questioning him and some judging him behind his back (which really, Youngjae couldn't care less what they think), no one would dare try to bully him, knowing his power and him being close with Huicheol and all. However, what he fails to notice is the judgment and bullying that’s directed towards Jieun.

The bullying goes on for a couple of weeks with Youngjae being as clueless as ever. That is until he witnesses three red code students bullying Jieun by pushing her hard causing her to fall to the ground and her books to scatter then proceed to "accidentally" spill water on her books. Youngjae is stunned at the sight rolling not far from him and just when one girl bends to whisper something inaudible to him in this distance to Jieun, he couldn't help but use his power on the girl. Inflicting a subtle but enough pain for her to fall on her knees clutching her head while he walks towards them. When he reaches a certain distance, his powers are gone but he shoos the red code students off with a warning. After they're gone, he'd ask a string of questions like is she okay, why were they bullying her, how long has this been going on for, and etc. But Jieun would just smile and say that it's nothing. Her response angers him for reasons he doesn't know why. So he tensely says "I know how red codes can be. They usually attack with harsh words and mere threats but they only result to physical attacks with a reason. Now tell me! What is it?!" Youngjae surprises himself. He has no idea why he feels so worked up over this, even losing his cool and resulting in using his powers outside of class, which's a great no-no for him. This isn’t like him. However, as Jieun just shakes her head and walks away, Youngjae doesn’t stop her. He really wants to but he also doesn’t want to force her to talk about anything she doesn’t want to talk to with him cause, after all, they haven't been friends for that long. He thinks maybe she isn't that comfortable around him yet so he decides to ignore it.

Right after that day, he notices that Jieun doesn't approach him first as she used to and when he does himself, she'd either make excuses or give short replies before walking away. It's as if she's putting a distance between them which Youngjae doesn't understand. The more this goes on and he hears from other’s that Jieun's working harder than ever, the more the voices in his head make him anxious, whispering ridiculous things like "See? Even the kind yellow girl can't stand you" "You always have a way of driving people away from you" "She's scared of you that's why she's training hard" and so on. Making him have many restless nights and some days he can't sleep (As you know,Youngjae’s been suffering from regular insomnia from before he even met Jieun, but after being friends with the girl, his insomnia became irregular. But now that she's keeping a distance from him, his insomnia just increases). Because of that, he becomes grumpier than usual and super moody. Huicheol, having enough of his friend's state (and knowing fully well that Youngjae usually results to being like that when stressed over something), asks him about it but he wouldn't say a word no matter what threats Huicheol throws at him. He doesn't know what to tell his friend even if he wanted to cause he can't grasp why he's being the way he is. Why is one girl not talking to him anymore bothering him so much? He's had friends before who stopped contacting him but it never bothered him. Ugh, just thinking about it makes his headache worse.

So when Seolhyun marches towards him and Huicheol one day demanding answers to Jieun’s weird behavior lately, it surprises him that even Huicheol turns towards him waiting for him to answer. It was a sight he never thought he'd see in his life; for once, Huicheol and Seolhyun were agreeing with each other. With the two aggressively pushing for answers and the voices in his head screaming at him, Youngjae felt like his head is about to explode and he just wants scream. Giving in to the feeling, he strides away from the two and goes to the empty academy green yard and does just that. He lets out one scream before kneeling down clutching his head. The headache hasn't been going for daysstraightnow and not even the medication pills Youngran gave him eased it.

Minutes later, slowly, the voices in his head were gone, and all was left is a familiar voice. It took Youngjae seconds for him to distinguish the voice as Jieun's, and that's when he was brought back to his cautious. He felt a hand resting on top of his head, so he slowly raised his head to meet two pairs of brown orbs looking at him worriedly. Without a second thought, he moved closer to the girl, straddling her body between his legs and rested his forehead on her chest without a word. He could feel Jieun's chest rising and falling as she breathes, and he tried to match her rhythm. As Jieun embraced then him, he felt so at ease and comforted. This simple act of reassurance from her was all he needed. So when he lifted his head and she placed a hand on his face, all he could do was just stare at her eyes, searching for answers. Maybe then he'll understand the reason behind her withdrawal the past couple of weeks. But what he saw was something he didn't expect, Jieun started tearing up. This was the first time he saw her looking so vulnerable he didn't know what to do. So he just listened to her as she talked while sobbing, her voice croaky. He wanted to counter everything she said but decided to let her speak her mind first. When she said "You're hurt and I can't avoid it... you're a precious friend to me" Youngjae couldn't help but instantly feel bad. He made her cry. She's crying because of him. If only he held it all in and didn't show that he's in pain. As she stared at him with tears rushing down, Youngjae let out a sigh. He gently pushed her towards him, this time with him holding her in his embrace. He just held her close, relishing when she did the same, waiting for her to calm down a bit before saying, "It's not your fault. Well, you distancing yourself kind of did stress me out more... but it's still not your fault! It's just something I have to get used to. And you, Baek Jieun, are not weak. You are far from that. I mean, putting powers aside, you can surely beat my up! Remember the last time you were helping me practice?" He tried to put in some humor to ease Jieun and he smiled when he heard her soft chuckle then his smile drops and he says seriously. "Please don't say that you're a burden to me, that I would be better off without you, or that I'm just being nice to you. I need you Jieun." He realizes that his words can sound romantically so he lightly blushes, pushing down the giddy feeling he felt in his stomach, and holds Jieun so he could look her in the eyes before saying, "You are a dear friend to me too." He said those words as sincerely as he can, hoping he got his point across to his stubborn friend.Feeling relieved when he saw the sincere smile on her face. "I need you too Jae, it was really hard for me to try distancing from you" Hearing that from Jieun got Youngjae to looking at his lap, missing Jieun's blush, while grumbling in a low voice, "Then you shouldn't have" He knew he was acting childish which was far from his self but he doesn't care at the moment. He was feeling sulky and he wanted to express it to Jieun. However, she succeeded in gaining back his attention and smile when she caressed his face and chuckled. "Seriously, I missed being around you, teasing you and training with you, who else would give you a hard time?" She stuck her tongue out playfully causing Youngjae to nod while letting out a hearty laugh. "I know. How could you give me the displeasure of not going through your steel kicks and death locks for a while?" They both laughed until Jieun then looked back at him with a serious expression, "I'm sorry for the way I behaved, it's just I heard that I was only making your life hard, I know that usually, I don't believe in rumors or what people say to me, but...." Jieun bit her lower lip and met his eyes which he held. "I was scared that you would be hurt because of me, I really want you to be happy Jae, even if it means that I must let you go". She looked down and sighed, playing with her fingers. He could see that she was nervously waiting for his answer, he wasn't sure what was making her nervous (he's really bad at reading people OTL) but he thinks he has an idea of why. So he heaves out through his nose and puts his hand on her shoulder, hoping it'd catch her attention which it thankfully did. "Look Ji, how about we make a promise? A promise to not let other people's words and judgments hinder our friendship and if there's anything bothering us, we'll talk to each other and figure it out together instead of pushing each other away. Hm?" He says as he holds his pinky finger between them. He really wants to smack himself now cause, seriously? A pinky promise? This is so childish but he hopes at least Jieun finds it cute.Relieve rushes through him when she smiles, linking their fingers together. "It's a promise,Jae."After they got through all that, Youngjae felt like they now both share a bond. After all, Jieun lets out sides of him he never knew he had, which scares him but yet excites him. Seeing Jieun crying in front of him made him feel things he couldn’t grasp and he never wants to see that side of her again, so he vowed from that day onwards to protect and shield her. To hell with not using his power outside of class. If he had to, to protected those close to him which now includes Jieun, then he’d use it without a second thought.

Rumors going wild again about them is something that's bound to happen, cause after all it’s a damn red code befriending a mere yellow code. What a scandal! Sense the sarcasm? Anyways, Youngjae and Jieun would be one of the few students to break the existing boundary of the codes in the academy. They'd be all like "we're just friends" but some of their actions say otherwise. In Youngjae's side, some of his friends will for it ("Omg, is that a tiny smile I see on Youngmoody's face? It really is!! Awww our dark baby is in love~") while a few wouldn't be too approving of it and be like "You still hanging out with yellow code?" which he'd just simply ignore. Huicheol, on the other hand, will be neutral with it; not stopping their other friends who'd bash their friendship but yet also do things like telling him "Stop staring and ing go talk to her" then proceeds to shove him to her direction.

ENDING.

We'll leave it up to you; how they come to terms with their true feelings, whether they end up confessing or not, and if they become a couple or just stay as friends.

COMMENTS.
You know how in BNHA Bakugo has a Kirishima. Well, I thought in Ledrith Huicheol can have his own Kirishima (but dark lol), Youngjae! Also, I know someone else also applied with Jinyoung as fc but I just couldn't find any other fc with how I envisioned Youngjae asdfghjk I guess it's cause I took inspiration from Jinyoung during P101 days when he used to cover his eyes with his bangs and gave a sort of gloomy boy vibes (or at least to me). Anyways, I hope you like him~
