Cheerful and optimistic : Taeri is someone who seemingly does not let anything get her down and is always laughing and smiling. When interacting with others, she'll try her best to remain enthusiastic. She always tries to look for the silver lining in any cloud and if she can't find it, she'll keep trying. She tries to keep a positive outlook on life because she believes there are so many ways things could go right, or things that don't go well can end up being in her favour. And even if things don't go the way she planned, she believes it would be better if she didn't get what she wanted.

Friendly and talkative : Taeri loves getting to know others and she believes the best way to do so is by talking to them, about anything under the sun. However, Taeri has a tendency to talk too much at times, sometimes when it is unwelcomed. Sometimes, she also says the wrong things, and usually at the wrong times.

Confident : Taeri knows she is cute and can sing well, and takes pride in it. She tries not to let negative criticism affect her.

Fun-loving but irresponsible : Taeri is always up to have a good time no matter what your idea of a good time is, and she believes in having as much fun as you can whenever you can, because you only live once. However, she has a tendency to neglect responsibilities when she wants to have fun.

Zealous yet lazy : If Taeri enjoys something, she puts 100% of her effort into it. However, if she doesn't enjoy something, she won't bother to do it at all or will make half-hearted efforts at it. Irritable : Taeri may be laughing and smiling most of the time, but once someone says or does something to make her upset, she'll fly into a rage and will stay angry for a long time until she is appeased.

Vain and attention-seeking : Taeri is very proud of her looks, and expects everyone to be the same. She got a new hairstyle? You better notice it, and praise her for it. She makes sure to show off every opportunity she gets, because she loves knowing people are looking at her and find her cute and pretty.

Competitive : As Taeri loves attention, she will do anything she can for it. If she feels other people are "stealing" attention from her, This Means War. She'll fight anyone who she believes to be stealing her thunder relentlessly.

Entitled : Taeri may be friendly, but she doesn't show love to others without expecting the same in return. And if she wants something from you, you better give it to her or else she'll get mad.

Taeri was born to a Korean couple living in San Francisco in 2001. During her early childhood, her parents often watched MTV as there weren't many Korean channels on TV at that time, and Taeri loved to sing along to the songs she heard, earning praises from her parents which led her to develop a love of singing, and she started putting on "mini concerts" for her parents to "perform" new songs that she had learnt for them. A lot of western pop stars were promoting a rather risque image, but Taeri's parents weren't afraid it would affect her badly, they wanted her to be confident in expressing herself. When Taeri started elementary school, she joined the school choir.

On Taeri's 10th birthday, her parents gave her a special present, an iPhone, and she created a Youtube account where she would post videos of herself singing. Though they were one in a while in that time, Taeri got praises from commenters saying she sang very well for her age, which spurred her to learn more songs and post them. Nothing much happened until Taeri was 13 years old and her family moved to Japan due to her father's work. As her new home was in Shinjuku, Taeri often hung out in Akihabara and Harajuku after school and fell in love with anime, cosplay and street fashion. Seeing that, her parents would buy her new clothes or costumes when they got their pay or on her birthday and Christmas. Taeri started posting ootd and cosplay pictures on her instagram account, which earned her many followers, likes and comments praising her, especially when she posted pictures of herself in slightly revealing outfits or costumes.

When Taeri was 15 years old, she discovered Red Velvet after hearing their song Russian Roulette after listening to it during the intermission before her mother's TV drama, and posted a video of herself singing it on Youtube. However, that wasn't what got her famous, but her cover of Ariana Grande's One Last Time which she uploaded some time later. The video was widely circulated, with many people saying she sounded exactly like Ariana. Through this, SM Entertainment noticed her Youtube Channel, and emailed her saying they were willing to offer her a chance to become an idol. Taeri told her parents and they encouraged her to go for it, and thus Taeri became a trainee at SM Entertainment, and later debuted in their girl group Fantasy in 2018.

Being someone who enjoys freedom, Taeri didn't like the rules SM set for her when she was a trainee. She didn't like that she had to private her instagram account and that what she posted would be strictly regulated, which meant getting less clout. And also, her diet was heavily restricted. Possibly worst of all, with how much time she had to spend training, she wasn't able to do cosplay tests unless she had an off day, which only happened once every few months. However, SM couldn't stop her from doing what she wanted. Despite the scoldings, Taeri still secretly unlocked her instagram and posted about her days at training as well as selcas showing off her body, and snuck her favourite foods into the dorm. She even was thrown the famous punishment of running around the practise room while singing many times, and that didn't stop her. It just spurred her to work hard to debut as soon as possible. Nobody was her friend, she had to beat them if she wanted to be in the public eye again. She forced herself to learn choreography, and practise till she got it perfect, which was probably her least favourite thing in the world to do. Taeri made friends with another trainee called Marie, who like the older girl, wanted to improve in dancing so she could debut as quickly as possible, and they were always practising together outside of traning hours and having what little fun they could with SM's strict rules. Finally,after one year in the trainee program, Taeri was chosen to be a member of Fantasy, along with Marie.

With her cheerful and outgoing peronality, Taeri is one of the popular members of Fantasy, though not the most popular. However, fans don't know what she isn't always as sweet as they think she is. They don't see the moments when she flies into a rage over the smallest things or when she doesn't get enough likes and comments quickly enough on her selcas. However, what they do see and hear is her speaking out against discrimination of ethnic minorities, cultural appropriation, discrimination of LGBTQIA+ people and ICE concentration camps. Because of this, she's got her fair share of haters too, among other idols as well as members of the public. But as she says, haters only make her stronger.

Being an idol has also affected Taeri's friendship with Marie. Because Marie is the baby of the group, all the unnies dote on her the most. Marie's also a main vocalist and almost as talented in singing as Taeri, if not better. In fact, netizens have often said that SM overestimated Taeri and she only sings well enough to be a lead vocalist at most. Taeri is well aware of these comments due to her ego searches, as well as the fact that alongside these comments, they've praised Marie saying she can definitely do better than an idol group and should go solo if possible. And what was SM thinking when they put her in Sweet Fantasy? She hates singing those cheesy lyrics and wearing those frilly dresses that make her look like an overgrown child. She's just waiting for the day she turns 18 so she can do some y magazine shoots which hopefully will get her more attention. After all, SM isn't paying her enough to afford the costumes and clothes she loves so much. With all this stress, at least Taeri is able to find comfort in her favourite foods, despite how many scoldings she gets for breaking her diet. It's the only thing making her happy right now and she isn't gonna give it up for anything. And with how hard she works promoting, she thinks she definitely deserves to eat well.

— early 2019 / whenever you feel appropriate | "Fantasy's Lucy is pregnant?" The paparazzi spotted Taeri looking heavier at her belly than usual, and published a picture of it with the headline. However, Taeri was not pregnant, she had just gained some weight from breaking her diet. (False)

— 2020 | "Fantasy's Lucy is a bully?" There was a thread in a gossip forum talking about seemingly nice idols who are actually conceited and y in real life. As several famous cosplayers were mentioned, a Japanese netizen added on claiming Taeri was her schoolmate in middle school and that Taeri didn't talk to anybody in school except the popular girls, and gossipped about other students. The forumer also brought some of Taeri's social media posts from her middle school days supporting her claim. (Seems to be true but fans believed that she had changed for the better since the posts were many years ago and after a while everyone forgot about it, but they didn't know Taeri was actually "bullying" Marie)
