On the 3rd of January in the noble home of the Son household in the Xi region, a baby girl named Son Yona was born. Yona was the youngest out of the 5 siblings and she was doted on the most by her parents. Although she was the youngest, she did not grow up spoiled - well, not too much.

Growing up where she had an of 11 years with the oldest sibling, all of them taught her little things that would become crucial in her future. With her family having a great military history, it seemed she carried some of those traits more than she'd like to admit. Her father and Hak would teach her on military tactics and strategies while her mother and fellow sisters helped her to become a 'proper' lady. In her younger years, most of her days were spent with etiquette classes, tea brewing, music sessions and so on. The only thought she had on most days were about pretty dresses and getting new jewellery. It wasn't until she met her second brother on her 10th birthday did the rose-tinted glasses come off. 

Hangyu's birth was no secret to the rest of the Son family - Yona knew about his existence from her mother and siblings.However, from what she can remember was that his birth mother took to great lengths to avoid Hangyu from ever being found - wanting him to live a life without the status or the need to keep up appearances. But the sudden death of his mother was what brought him to take himself to the only family he knew could protect him from the harsh streets.

Her father introduced Hangyu to the family and public during Yona's tenth birthday as his 'public debut' when he was already of appropriate age and had taken enough classes to know how to carry himself well. Their father had kept Hangyu's existence under the radar but thought it would be best if he publically announced Hangyu and Yona's birthday party just happened to be an appropriate date. Sons were always thought highly of in noble families so he thought that Hangyu would play as a good image - having 2 sons in the family would make their status a little more known amongst the nobles. 

Hangyu truly changed her perception of things, especially when he was the first one to bring her out of the residence despite strict orders from their parents to never leave the area. Yona grew up believing that the reason she wasn't allowed outside was that she was simply too young but Hangyu scoffed at the remark and hoisted her up his shoulder. Yona can still remember how scared yet excited she was to finally see somewhere that wasn't her home.

Hangyu showed her the reality of the world - where the poor suffered while the rich and powerful thrived. He told her of the woman who worked in the brothels, the children who were sold off to who knows where due to their parents being unable to feed them, young ones who stole for food and if caught - would pay their life for their crimes. How the royals or nobles don't do anything to stop what was happening right under their noses and used their power and influence for their own greed and wants. "I grew up like this, Yona," he stated, "The people are suffering while your family sips on the most luxurious items money can buy. Don't you think it's disgusting?"

Of course, such a day traumatised Yona for a few days. Locked up in her room, trembling in fear and refusing to go out or eat. The new perception of things broke her but perhaps it was for the better of things. It was after her 4th day of isolation did she come out and head directly towards Hangyu's room. He thought that he was going to be yelled at or at the very least, slapped by the young girl by how her fists trembled. Instead, he was met with a surprising question coming from his dear little siser. 

"How do we change things?"

It was that question that set things into motion for both of them. Hangyu didn't know what he had awakened in his younger sister but, he was going to watch the fire in her eyes burn brightly while he stood beside her. For whatever reason, despite how young she was at the time - Hangyu was certain that she could do it, that she could bring some sort of change in the world.

So, he taught her what he knew at first. He taught her how to manipulate someone, how to get what she wanted and how to put her cute innocent looks into her advantage. It certainly proved to have results as Yona managed to convince her father into gaining ownership for what would be her two closest friends. 

Mirae and Taewoo both grew up in poverty due to their low status. Mirae was sold off by her family because they had gone too desperate for money to the point they abandoned humanity and sold off their daughter. Yona was with Hangyu that day, as Yona was investigating the child trafficking that was occurring. When she found the place, that was where she found Mirae - skinny, barely awake and asking for mercy. She bought Mirae from the seller, had Hangyu carry her before she used her charm to win over her father into taking Mirae in as a maid in training to become part of Yona's maids. Mirae, indebted to Yona for saving her from a crueller fate, trained hard and was soon bumped to be Yona's personal maid. Although their status was that of maid and madam, Yona made it clear that Mirae was a precious friend to her.

As for Taewoo, he was someone saved by Hak and Jin from death after they raided a death-match thanks to an unknown informant - AKA Yona - who told them of the location. Taewoo had joined the match in hopes of winning and getting money for his sick mother but he had gone up against someone twice his size and with more experience and skills than he had. Yona, once again, convinced her father to have Taewoo train to become a warrior - certain that he had the skills needed. Yona tracked down Taewoo's mother and managed to send the medicine needed for her to recover well. As Taewoo's mother sent him a letter about her health, Yona can still remember how he had cried and sworn his loyalty towards Yona.

"You can leave any time you want," Yona had told them once, "I won't hold back your freedom. If you wish to leave any day, don't be frightened and just let me know. I'll help you." 

But they had never once ask to leave.

Meeting and dealing both Mikoto and Nanau proved to be another turning point in her life. As Yona wanted to find the infamous Manabu mercenary, she had sent Taewoo out to gain intel. And as Nanau Manabu rested after a long day of work, he was surprised to be met with a young girl who looked no older than 15 years old.

"Great work today, Mr Manabu?"
However, as he turned to ignore the little runt - her next words made him stop.
"Or should I say, Nanau Ochiai?"

A man who was always careful with introducing himself, his real name was something he hadn't heard anyone say in a long time. So when Yona proposed for them to sit down and discuss, he did as he was told. "I don't want much. I just want you to get me what I need when I need it," she smiled, "Information, supplies - I heard you're the most reliable person to go to."

"For a price, anything's possible."
"Money is no problem for me, Mr Manabu. Items and sorts are of no interest to me. Information is where my interests are on," she clasped her hands together, "You're just the kind of person fit for the job."
"And what do you want with all this information once you have it?"
"I haven't thought that far... but perhaps, a rebellion? Or revenge for other people? I know how your lover was taken by a noble family to become a concubine and I know how she was publically executed for trying to run away. Do you wonder how I know these kinds of things, Mr Manabu? Even the deepest secrets can be found with the right people," there was a glint in her eyes as she continued to speak, "If you decide to work for me, I can see to it that that noble family gets their name tainted."

And with that, Nanau decided that this little girl had more than what meets the eyes as he agreed to work for her.

Perhaps the most memorable meeting was with Mikoto Haiba - the e from the red-light district. Able to arrange a meeting with Mikoto through Hangyu's help, Yona was determined to have Mikoto join her side. Mikoto had an influence of her own, one that Yona knew would come in handy someday when she needed it.

"Hangyu said you had a proposal to discuss with me, little one."
"I would like you to become an informant of mine, Miss Mikoto."
"And here I thought you wanted to work here," she laughed, "Hangyu did mention you were... a little odd. Do continue on, little one."
"I heard that many high ranking officials come by to be served by you and once in a while, you'll hear something private. All I want is for you to gain information from certain officials and relay those messages to me," Yona added on, "As long as you give me what I need, I will see to it that your daughter is well taken care of and that when you retire, you won't have to worry about money. Your daughter, Sei, is adorable - she looks a little like you."

As the shock settled on Mikoto's face, a smirk appeared on Yona's. The mention of the daughter she tried so hard to keep secret from the public or tracing back to her had her feeling a chill down her spine as she stared at the young girl.

"I won't do anything to your daughter if you refuse me. However, if you chose to work with me then I will guarantee that you can live a good life with your daughter once you retire," Yona assured her, "All I need is information."

With a sigh and a smile, Mikoto nodded her head - agreeing to join hands with Yona.

As Yona turned 18, who would ever think that the girl who easily trips whenever she walks or snorts when she laughs is the very girl who had eyes and ears in nearly every region. No one in her family, besides Hangyu knew of just how much influence she had over the land. So as she waited in the shadows for the right time to make her move, she would be quietly gathering up all the dirty secrets trying so hard to be hidden by the upper caste.

Yona has a good relationship with her father, credits to being the youngest daughter in the family. Although he's usually seen strict during training, he has a kind heart to those he cares about. In the eyes of most people, he treats his children equally but people inside the household says he's known to dote on Yona the most which causes some rivalry between the sibling to gain his attention.

A daughter from a noble family, Boyeong was once known for her beauty during her youth. She's a quiet person who seems to be a true lady at heart. Areum, Hwayoung and Yona were taught by her about style and etiquette. She's known to never raise her voice towards anyone and stays quiet during most ceremonies. She often goes shopping with her daughters and loves to do embroidery in her free time.



Son Hak / 28 / Military / Hardworking, Smart, Hot-headed / Eldest brother / fc: lee joongi
Recognised for his military brilliance and skills, Hak is one of the strongest warriors. He's usually spending most of his time studying and training so although he's rarely seen at home, he has a loving relationship with the family members. Hak once wanted to teach Yona how to wield a sword properly but dropped the idea in worry that Yona would get hurt. He taught Yona how to ride a horse and often races with her. He tries to get along with Hangyu but can't seem to keep up with his flamboyant personality.

Famous for his godly looks, Hangyu is sometimes called the 'black sheep' of the Son household. He's good at wiedling a sword but his skills seem dull when compared to Hak. He spends most of his time at the red-light districts to the point he's earned a reputation amongst the women. He's the one who taught Yona how to threaten people with a smile and how to put her looks into good use. A rumour goes around that he's the illegitimate child, born from an affair.

Areum, often called 'The Beauty of Son', certainly lives up to her name. She's known for her high sense of fashion and usually whatever she wears will turn into a trend for other nobles. She holds a lot of tea parties in her residence to show off her newest items. She's usually up to date on the latest gossip thanks to her many friends in the noble families and will let some information slip to Yona, for a price - which would usually be in the payment of clothes, cosmetics and rare types of tea or herbs. She's on neutral terms with the brothers and her parents, she's-an-eyesore relationship with Hwayoung and this-is-my-cute-little-sister with Yona.

Son Hwayoung / 22 / Unemployed / Over-competitive, Shallow, Passionate / Older sister / fc: oh yeon seo 
'The Flower' is one of the title Hwayoung holds. She feels inferior towards Areum and constantly battles with her in a lot of things, especially in terms of beauty. She's known to use low tactics to try and ruin the other siblings' reputation but so far, she hasn't been successful. Hwayoung dislikes Yona seeing how her other siblings treat her so nicely. She's known for her great talent in dance and musical instruments. Her number one goal is to become the empress someday, hoping that title would finally show that she's better than the rest of her siblings. She treats most of the maids badly and isn't silent about her disliking towards the bastard child, Hangyu.

Yona found her on the streets when they were young and begged her father to take Mirae in. Mirae was taken into the Son household where she spent most of her time to become a maid. Growing up in poverty, Yona was like a saviour in Mirae's eyes. Yona requested Mirae to become her personal maid and since then, these two have been sticking close to each other like glue.

Another friend she met on the streets was Taewoo. Taewoo was an orphan who was close to death if it wasn't for Yona saving him. He was trained to become Yona's guard and refuses to take orders from anyone else but Yona. His skills with the sword are nearly the same level as Hak if he wasn't so lazy. Always the first one to scold Yona a lot whenever she sneaks out of the residence without notifying him. Due to Taewoo being her bodyguard, he's always sticking around her. Some maids gossip that they're in a relationship but they've just grown dependant on one another.

Nanau is known to Yona as one of her reliable and trustworthy informants. He knows her as her alias, Aeji and prefers to know little about her - only knowing her name despite their many years of history. He's introduced her to plenty of people and swaps information with her for a reasonable price. He has a good reputation around other mercenaries and nobles. He is only known as Mr.Mahabu or his many other aliases so when Yona called him Nanau Ochiai - he knew better than to ignore her words.

A dashing warrior who is best friends with Hak, he cares about Yona like that of a big brother towards his little sister. He's been around for as long as Yona can remember and he's the person who introduced her to her beloved weapon, the kunai. He's always saying how if someone wanted to marry Yona, they would have to beat him in a duel first. Since he's involved in politics and such, he's another informant that Yona goes to when she needs it although he's too dense to notice anything suspicious about her. He has been harbouring a crush for her sister, Areum, for some time.

One of the most well-known es of the red-light district, she's a woman that's wanted by a lot of men and envied by many more women. Despite this, Mikoto shares a business relationship with Yona as Mikoto is one of her many informants. Mikoto has a secret daughter who is being raised by Mikoto's cousin and not people know of this since it could damage Mikoto's work. Most of Mikoto's money is sent for her daughter to ensure she lives a good life and wishes nothing more than her daughter to grow up educated and safe.
