— LOOK SHARP.

FACE CLAIM — Ella-Rae Smith
BACK UP FACE CLAIM — Amandla Stenberg
APPEARANCE — Unruly, curly hair, freckles, and light eyes, Flora is usually found as this unruly mob of fluff running around with nothing less than a sort of dopey smile on her face. Standing at 171cm and finally filling out, for a long time Flora was a tall amalgem of uncorrdinated limbs and elbows. It is rare to find Flora ever not looking happy. Most days she isn't concerned with her hait, so it goes up out of her face or maybe on two buns, but otherwise she very rarely tries ot tame her curls. While her uniform isn't messy, there is a hint of her maybe getting ready for the day a little more quickly than she should have. That's the air Flora gives off: an uncoordinated fluff ball.

STYLE — So much boho and shorts and skirts. Peasant tops, ones that flow easily over her, and embracing all the nature child aesthetics at times. If she is not embracing her more boho sense of fashion, Flora will wear more contemporary clothing, but always with nice patterns and bright colors. Always. And large sunglasses. And roller skates. Girl dreams of rollerskating around Hogwarts one day. It's one of her favorite things Muggles have gifted them with.

— LOOK SMART.
PERSONALITY
♚ Compassionate, Airy, Adventurous, Gullible, Sensitive, Idealistic, Loyal, Naive

Flora is the lawful good hero of her own story everyday. Or is she the silly princess who needs rescuing? Why can't she be both? Flora is the type to roll up her sleeves and get herself dirty to accomplish something. There are new and amazing things to see and experience every day: go for it without fear! If it means gettign a little dirty while you're at it, then it's well worth the laundering bill!

Flora is literal sunshine on a cloudy day. Her positivity never seems to wane, even when she is faced with hoirrbleness and darkness. But her upbeat personality does make her come off a little airheaded. At times, it seems like Flora really is the most gullible person who is willing to take everyone as their word. Everyone, and this means everyone, is accepted and taken at face value for Flora. If you tell her you need a galleon because your mother is sick and missing a few fingers, she will believe you and hand over the galleon. And you can totally be lying. Thankfully, she is not one to normally begrudge people people if they do decieve her. They must have a good reason right? She is one to never assume someone means ill, and it has cost her a few hurt feelings and scoldings for being so gullible by her friends and family. Sometimes she has her head in the clouds a bit too much, and comes off as slow to understand things. But Flora just has so many things going on in her head. So many day dreams and so many things to imagine doing! Listen, not everyone can be as diligent or astute: you need those folks who will be there to bring levity to things. And Flora fits that role quite well, thank you.

A sensitive soul who empathizes greatly with those around her, it is so easy to play on Flora's sympathies. She has a naive view that things can and will be okay. But don't mistake her sensitive nature as weakness. While it can be exploited, it means Flora is highly attuned to those feelings and understands them better than some. She seeks to diffuse situations before they escalate, find a means that allows all people to come away with something. Its a silly ideal, but one the eternal optimist she is tries to advocate. It makes her more capable of seeing the greater picture intead of secular viewpoint. While her youth and indesiveness may cause her to flounder in this view, if she were to finally take a side and go all in, she could be capable of so much more. She believes in the validity of all people, not just one group, and to invalidate someone is one of the cardinal sins for her. Treat others as a decent human being would. It's all she's asking for.

While Flora seems just like a silly teenager, chatting away about boys, fashion, the latest sweets at Honeydukes, deep down there is potential for someone who can be more. Right now, her idealism and optimism can be weakness because she doesn't have the tenacity to back it up nor the will to do so. Give her a reason, and maybe the ball of sunshine will go supernova and show you what she can actually do. That, or she might go cry. Either option is totally valid. If you do look beyond the superficial layer of sugar, Flora is fiercely loyal and dedicated to her own ideals of how things should be. She will do all she can, give all she can, to those she cares for. Weakness or not, it's who she is at the end of the day.

— LOOK BACK.
PAST — The Starks have always been somewhere in the public service realm. Mr. Stark is currently a diplomat for the ministry working in the Department of International Cooperation. Mrs. Stark is a muggle liason for the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts branch, though until recently she was mostly a diplomats wife. She raised her two daughter, Fauna and Flora, while her husband was always on the move. When they were old enough, about five or so, they started travelling with him. They've lived in South Africa, France, Japan, the United States, The Netherlands, Israel at one point, a stop in Germany, a plethora of plaes. It wasn't uncommon for them to not be in a place longer than a few months, with the longest being a year in France.

Flora fortunately didn't have too much issue with the changes. She was usually able to adapt, and was never a shy child, so even her temporary schoolmates were welcomed. It wasn't until she started at Hogwarts that she finally settled down on a more permanent basis, with her flying off during breaksto join her parents whereever they might be at that time. Between their trips overseas, the Stark family did spend a good amount of time in London when more domestic affairs took priority. Mr. Stark was and still is, a close friend of Bartemius Crouch Sr, and the two often hosted their family's for get togethers at their homes. In particular, if the they were in London for an extended time, Arjana made it a point to invite Mrs. Crouch and her son over for tea and socialization. Bartemius and Mithras were schoolmates and while neither went to the same house and differed in personality vastly, they'd remained close friends for a long time. Mithras may not always see eye to eye with Bartemius, but they remained steadfast friends.

Having experienced the wide world, Flora and Fauna often told colorful stories of their "adventures" as percieved through the yes of a young girl. Barty Jr was often the main focus of these stories, and thus became one of the only long lasting friendships she had growing up. Despite this, life for the Starks was an active and colorful one. Having a doting father and considerate mother, and a sister she idolized as being the best of the best, life was certainly not boring for Flora Stark.

PRESENT — Things are a little different now that Flora and Fauna are both at Hogwarts. Their father still travels extensively for the ministry while their mother has resumed work in London for the ministry regarding Muggle Artifacts. She was sorted into Hufflepuff, her sister, surprising everyone, into Slytherin. Her father noted how the last Slytherin in their house was their great grandmother, and she went on to accomplish quite a bit.

At Hogwarts, Flora is finally making friends and living a more sedentary lifestyle. She goes home to Birmingham on holidays and sometimes the whole family travels out to wherever their father currently is during breaks. If anything, starting at Hogwarts has actually brought stability to Flora, and she is blossoming into a vivacious and outgoing student there. While she isn't as popular as Lily, she is well liked by most of her classmates, and she is friendly enough to include everyone in her mirth when she can. A few key subjects aside, Flora is a rather average student, especially when compared to her sister who is outstanding in so many ways.

Lately, her parents have been increasingly distressed over the status of the Wizarding World. They are strong advocates of muggle equality and are outspoken of their distaste of those who would tout the superioirty of blood when it comes to magic. Fauna has dived into this with fervor, but it is becoming increasingly obvious she stands opposite of her family.

And Flora? Flora wants to accept everyone...but he doesn't want to believe her sister could be wrong either. If her sister is believing in it, then maybe there's some truth to it?  But Flora herself knows that can't be the case. She has so many friends and loved ones now who aren't pureblood or half-blood. Lately, Flora sometimes would prefer to be at Hogwarts than at home where talk of the politics and wars has not only the Wizarding world fighting, but her family. Flora just wants to enjoy being young and in love...is that too much to ask for? She doesn't want to have to choose...but she may not have a choice soon.

TRIVIA —
  • Absolutely terrified of heights and flying. While her older sister is basically a pro at it, Flora has never been a good flyer, physically. Technically, she's fairly good, but her innate fear keeps her from doing anything more with it.

  • But she totally takes flying when she can to oogle the cute boys in class and the instructor. Because nothing is hotter to her than an attractive man on a broom.

  • Has sometimes been mistaken as a Gryffindor because of how much she hangs out with Lily and Alice. Aside from Mason, most of Flora's close associations are outside of her house.

  • Her wand is Rowan with a unicorn hair core.

  • Her best class is charms followed by herbology. She is absolutely terrible at potions, and requires Fauna or Mason or Lily to help her often.

  • If she ever learns to summon a patronus, it will most likely take the form of a small bird: sparrow, magpie, or swallow.

  • Has stated she would like to go on to be a Herbologist and find work outside of the UK. She'd like her texts to be taught one day in Hogwarts. But she usually laughs at herself and says more than likely she'll be stuck at a desk in the ministry when she graduates.

  • She has a cat named Archibald, Archie for short. He's a fluffy, gray thing that tends to look at the world as if he hates it. He's lazy and so easy going though that Flora can pick him up, toss him around, over her should, and then cuddle him without getting a scratch.

— LOOK AROUND.
FAMILY —

Sister / Stark, Fauna / 16 / Amibitous, Charismatic, Diligent, Haughty, Assertive, Judgemental (FC: Britne Oldford)
Flora idolizes Fauna. Fauna can do no wrong in the eyes of her little sister. Fauna does care for Flora, though it's clear in their interactions that she doesn't always consider her to be the brightest crayon in the box and tends to talk to Flora in "simpler terms". Everyone assumes Fauna will move on to something in politics, continuing the legacy of her father nd maybe outshining his prowess in that arena. However, there is something dark in Fauna. Fauna is heavily interested in the politics of the magical world and has begun befriending certain others that have been changing her viewpoint on the muggle-wizard relationship. Coming from the pureblooded Stark family, even if not classed as the sacred 28, Fauna has begun embracing the idea of pureblood superiority over muggles. She is an excellent flyer and was considered for a position on the quidditch team, but chooses instead to focus on her studies. She's good friends with the team however, and good friends with Emma and Lucinda.

Fauna is part of the Slug Club, and with her familial connections and natural aptitude for potions and defense against the dark arts, and a generally pleasant and charming persona, many assume she will go far in the world once she leaves Hogwarts. She is the picture of elegance, the perfect diplomat's daughter. While she isn't extremely popular because, despite it all, she does keep a rather low profile, when Fauna enters the room, people do tend to pay attention. She is stark contrast to Flora so much that if they didn't share a surname and actually acknowledge each other as sisters, you'd never know. ((A case where someone may have gotten involved in the wrong crowd)).

Mother and father  / Stark, Arjana and Mithras/
Mithras Stark is a diplomat working for the ministry and has earned a reputation as being easy-going and likeable. He too was a Hufflepuff when he attended Hogwarts. He has built a lot of good relations in the ministry and their international allies. He is good friends with Barty Crouch, Sr., and often pays him a visit. It's no secret that Mithras supports Crouch Sr future aims for Minister for Magic.

Arjana now works with Muggle Liasons and Artifacts, and while quieter and more calculating than Mithras, she is friendly and obliging to those around her. She is fascinated by muggles and has quite of collection of their history documented in the Stark's personal library. Much like Mithras, Arjana is respected and has many allies and friends. She, unlike Mithras, is not as fond of Barty Crouch Sr, but is civil with him. She is a firm believer that bloodline does not matter, and advocates against those who would claim pureblood status makes anyone inherently better. She was a Ravenclaw back in Hogwarts.

Both are very doting parents, and have supported their children immensely in their choices. Both Flora nad Fauna love their parents, but with Fauna beginning to take a stance opposite her mother, things have grown more and more tense in the Stark household.

FRIENDS
.

Close Friend / Evans, Lily / 15 /
Along with Alice, Lily is one of Flora's cloest friends at Hogwarts. They didn't really become close until fourth year, but thanks to Alice they've been near besties since. Flora often stands with Lily against the Marauders when they do cause trouble, though she is far less outspoken as Lily is. Trips together to Hogsmeade, late night studying, discussions over how muggle life is different from wizarding life, they share a lot of secrets and moments together. Lily tends to be the voice of reason for Flora at times since Flora is a silly thing that would probably give her head to someone if they pretended to need it enough. "Flora no." "But-!" "Flora, but no." If Lily ever does get down, Flora is usually there to cheer her up and drag her off to forget her troubles for a while longer. Lily is one of her first real girlfriends.

Best Friend / Macmillan, Alice / 15 /
Flora met Alice back in their first year on the train ride to Hogwarts. Despite being sorted into separate houses, the friendship they started back on that train has just grown stronger through the years. It was through Alice that she met Lily, and essentially became their third wheel when she has time to join them outside of her own house. Alice is always teasing and poking fun at Flora's nonsense, often calling her "you silly tit" or "aireheaded child"; though these are said without malice or ill intent. Together, they are very typical teenage girls, and gossip and giggle endlessly. A favorite topic is picking on the other's taste in men. When they could, along with Mason, Alice often joined them for trips during breaks. Along with Lily, Alice is one of her first real girlfriends, and Flora treasures the hell out of them. Alice is also the unofficial president of the Flora protection squad, with Lily as the vice.

Friend / Pettigrew, Peter / 15 /
Much like most of Flora's relationships, this started year one. She happened to share a class with Peter, and seeing him struggle a bit with the subject, which just happened to be herbology, she stepped in to help out a little bit. Over the course of the class, they became friendly and Peter was one of the first friends she made in Hogwarts. Flora is apt to gently urge Peter to stand up for himself and be his own person, an to stop idolizing others. He can be great too! Flora wouldn't like him otherwise, right? They were closer in previous years, and grew apart once he started hanging around James and Sirius more. However, as of late, they've been talking again. She is always happy to drop and help him with something, and thinks of him as something of a little brother that needs protecting. ((Flora is naive enough, much like his other friends, to see the darkness there and what it will lead to.)) Honestly, Peter likes hanging around Flora because she is eager to help him if he asks and it's good for his image to be seen with a pretty girl now and then. He does think of her as a friend, but not someone close enough he'd reciprocate the desire to help for.

Close Friend / Kim, Mason / 15 / Pensive, Incisive, Intelligent, Polite, Cautious, Loyal (FC: Ki Hong Lee).
In so many ways, Mason and Flora are the exact opposites. While he wants to carefully consider his options, Flora wants to jump in and get things started. He's a night owl, Flora likes the morning. How did they even become good friends? Along with Alice, Flora made friends with Mason on the train. After that, he really couldn't escape her even when he tried their first year. Flora and he seemed to always be studying at the same time, at the same places. Flora sort of pushed her way into his daily life, and they've been friends since. Flora gets him to loosen up and he's come a long way from the almost neurotic nerdy boy he was during his first year. He's also had a good, mellowing effect on Flora and is really good at getting her to focus at the task at hand when she'd otherwise go find a painting to chat with. Mason often gets treated as Flora's ranting board where she tells him about all her woes, her current loves, her heartbreaks; and for his part, he is a good enough friend to listen sympathetically and tell her it'll be alright, even if her woes are because she is a silly tit, to quote Alice. He's a big quidditch fan, and Flora has brought him many times over their breaks with her family to games.

His best subjects are potions, arithmacy, and astronomy. He is balls at Herbology, and is lucky he has Flora around to help him as she is particularly good at that class. As a muggle-born, he used to get very lost amongst all the magical world. and Flora's insistence at being around has actually proved to be helpful in his acclimation. He's on pretty good terms with Sirius Black at this point after, in their first couple years, he was almost a victim of some of their shenanigans, and Mason ended up turning the tables on them. There's been something of a mutual respect from there on. Mason, however, does not get along with Flora's sister Fauna. Fauna has started looking down on Mason, and has tried to encourage Flora to maybe find new friends (this also includes her association with Lily Evans). If Fauna is around, Mason usually makes himself scarce as to not make things tense between Flora and her sister.

Childhood Friend / Crouch, Bartemius, Jr. / 14 /
Growing up since they were babes, these two were close as close could be up until maybe Barty's second year at Hogwarts. Their fathers have a close relationship, as did their mothers, so they spent many days together as children. For her part, Flora never really got to see his homelife outside of when she was able to visit, so she didn't really see the neglect or the darkness brewing in Barty. To her, Barty is Barty. He's the one who would help her create forts and towers out of whatever they could find and climb to the top, or topple it while trying. She hadn't seen him for a year before they started at Hogwarts, having been in France for her father's work. She would always seek him out in the halls and happily find him. Their first two years, if she could somehow convince him to join her for lunch or for studying, she would. And he seemed okay with it too. Even after befriending Lily and Alice, and later the marauders by extension, she tried to keep him at the top of her friend list.

But things...have changed. She can't seem to get him to hang out with her anymore. He's never outright cruel or mean to her, but he does tend to ignore her existence unless they are alone. Barty is different now. As much as Flora wants to keep their relationship strong and close, she can't seem to anymore. It breaks her heart because she has never admitted it, but Barty was her first love, and the romantic in her assumed that one day, when he was ready. they'd...you know, be a couple or something. That doesn't look like it'll be happening. Alas.

OTHERS —

Aquaintences/ The Marauders
Really Flora has known them since first year, but since she is not in Gryffindor she never really got to know them until Lily started having more interaction with James, even though she is friends with Peter. She really prefers Peter when he's not following James and Sirius like a loyal, idolizing puppy, and has tried to gently tel lhim this. Remus seems nice enough, though quiet, and Flora wants to be friends with him (and doesn't deny thinking he's attractive). But he's a mystery to her, and she assumes that he must be sickly since he tends to vanish for periods of time.

James and Sirius: Flora has mixed feelings towards them. Flora doesn't particularly like Severus per se, but also she doesn't condone bullying even if the victim isn't the most likeable person. But James is hot. Like...really hot. So while on a personal level she stands with Lily, she can dream a little. But Sirius? She finds him undesirable in many ways. No amount of tall, dark, and handsome make up for how much Flora just generally doesn't like him. She can't even really tell you why. Actually, yes. Yes she can. Her sister hates Sirius. Something about him being little overconfident punk when she was a second year and he a first, and something about a prank causing Fauna to have to cut her hair, honestly it all messy and Flora doesn't remember okay? But Flora doesn't find his personality all that attrctive. Just his face.

Honestly, she likes Peter and Remus separate from James and Sirius. Though it's not uncommon for her to see those two and exclaim, "BACK FOUL BEAUTIOUS CREATURES! YOUR FACES BLESSED BY THE GODS WILL NOT TEMPT ME!" ((though they totally do)).

Aquaintences/ Emma Vanity and Lucinda Talkalot
Flora is very familiar with these two as they are really Fauna's friends. Fauna hangs around Lucinda especially, and early in their Hogwarts life tried to get Lucinda to teach Flora more about flying. Honestly though, Flora feels a little intimidated by these Slytherin girls, and only really talks to them when Fauna is around. The few times she does interact with them without Fauna, it's clear they don't think too highly of Flora, and often there's backhanded remarks that Flora doesn't have the nerve to fight back on.

— THE CRUSH
this is optional
NAME — YES.

SUMMARY — Flora's crushes are varied and fleeting. She sees a good looking fella and BAAM crush. Usually one dumb word or malicious remark is enough to kill any lingering feelings, so she's not one to mindlessly pursue. Her longest standing crush was Barty, but thatvhas cooled significantly this last year in Hogwarts.  She has had a crush on the following people: James Potter, Remus Lupin, Evan Rosier, the former captain of the Hufflepuff quidditch team, her sister's last boyfriend in Slytherin, a fleeting moment of like for Regulus, that one Ravenclaw at the back of the library that Mason refused to introduce her to because he was a real "", their current flight instructor, and Mason for a moment when they were second years. ((Basically MATCHMAKE AWAY!!))

— LOOK NOW.
FAMOUS LAST WORDS — When I was making Flora, I had a thought: what if all her favorite people were basically the ones who destroyed the other? So...Barty takes Alice from Flora, and later she finds out Peter "died" the same time as Lily...only to find out yeeeeeears later that it was a lie and Peter was the reason her friend died. How does a naive girl who once believed in the good of everyone react to things like that??? AND HERE SHE IS.

SCENE SUGGESTIONS — If I can think of some I'll send them to you, I promise!
