PERSONALITY :　Cheerful : Erika is someone who seemingly does not let anything get her down and is always laughing and smiling. When interacting with others, she'll try her best to remain enthusiastic.
Loyal : Erika does not drop her loved ones just because someone else can give her something better or what she wants. She knows who are the ones who were there with her and stands by them, protecting them with her life.
Creative : Erika can seemingly come up with any ideas or lyrics on the spot, and she loves making up lyrics and ideas. She loves thinking of imaginary worlds and "what if this happened" situations which spur her to create things.
Passionate and perfectionistic : Erika gives her all in performing, just because she loves doing it. However, she does tend to push herself a little too hard to get everything right, because she doesn't want others to think (more like herself to feel) like she screwed up.
Sensitive : Erika is easily hurt by harsh words or others' suffering. She doesn't understand why people would want to hurt others, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and feels that even if you wish to criticise someone in order to correct them, you should tell them so patiently rather than lashing out and using harsh words.
Needy and validation-seeking : Growing up as a loner, Erika often felt there are few people who love her, and it didn't stop when she became an idol. If people don't praise her, she feels that she had not done well or is unloved. She often says things like "oh dear, I didn't do so well this time" hoping others will assure her she did her best. She tries her best to help others or stay on their good side, because she wants people to like her.
Cowardly and timid : Erika does not like making her loved ones angry or getting into conflicts, so she often keeps her true opinions and feelings to herself. If she accidentally expressed an opinion others do not agree with, she will just agree to disagree for fear of ruining her relationship with the person / people. She is easily scared by people who are angry and fierce.
Kind and selfless : Erika tries to avoid hurting others, instead uplifting them wherever possible. She never fails to give her loved ones or people she finds cool words of encouragement when needed, even if she can't say much. She tries her best to show genuine love to everyone around her, even sacrificing herself to make them happy.
Shy and modest : Erika finds it intimidating to interact with people she does not know and tries to avoid drawing attention to herself, only speaking up when she needs something or when she has a strong opinion, or if she is spoken to first. Despite having a rather good figure, she tends to avoid wearing overly revealing clothes when she is not performing.

BACKGROUND :　Erika was born in 1989. Her mother was a music teacher, and her father liked writing poetry in his free time. As a child, Erika quickly fell in love with how words could come together to create beautiful poems, and the beautiful piano melodies her mother would play. Erika had begged her mother to teach her how to play the piano many times as a child, and eventually got her wish when she was seven years old. After that, she started to like writing poems and coming up with piano melodies to accompany them, turning them into songs. She hoped that someday, she could perform the songs she wrote.

When Erika was 10, her father got a job offer in Singapore, and she moved to Singapore with her family. Hoping for her to be able to learn about people who were of different cultures than her own, Erika's parents enrolled her in a local primary school. Being unable to speak English well when she first arrived in Singapore, Erika ended up being ridiculed by her schoolmates and being unable to make friends, and decided to spend her free time between lessons or before her extracurricular activities in the library studying or writing songs and poems. When Erika started attending secondary school, she chose dance as her extracurricular activity and found that she enjoyed dancing, and continued taking dance as an extracurricular activity in junior college.

After taking her A level examinations in 2007, Erika's parents took her on a graduation trip to Korea, where she was spotted by a scouter of Fantasia Entertainment to audition to be an idol. Though Erika did not know anything about idols, her parents encouraged her to go for the audition, as they saw how much she enjoyed playing the piano and singing the songs she composed as well as dancing. Erika passed the audition and trained for 6 months before debuting as a member of Fantasia Entertainment's first girl group, Gloria in 2008.

Throughout her career as a Gloria member, Erika was one of the most popular members due to her sweet personality and genuine love for not only her fans but her members, her labelmates and the less fortunate. Despite the conflicts within Gloria and Fantasia Entertainment and the scandals, Erika continued staying with Gloria, because she considered them as some of the few true friends she had and she really enjoyed performing. Wanting to expand her horizons, Erika started trying out for acting auditions from 2015 and in 2016, she scored the lead female role in the Japanese drama "Running Away Is Shameful But Useful", which was where she met Hoshino Gen and they started dating, however, neither revealed their relationship to the public, only their family and closest friends. However, with Gloria's certain disbandment hanging over their head, Erika decided to become a full-time soloist and released her second solo, Pianoforte Monologue in early 2018. Erika had plans for a second solo, but unfortunately had to go on hiatus after she found out she was pregnant.

During her pregnancy, Erika decided to try writing songs for other groups. She had always treated the Nova members as her younger sisters, and wanted to "give" them something, seeing that they were not doing as well as Gloria did and she felt sorry for them. She ended up writing two songs for Nova, "I Wish" and "Kiss Me". Erika also got married to Gen during her hiatus, and gave birth to her son on New Year's day of 2019.

▸ When Erika first became a trainee, it was just like the time when she started school in Singapore, she couldn't speak Korean and couldn't speak to anyone. However, she just did the same thing she did back then, she used her breaks to study the language. As her Korean improved, she opened up to a girl called Hyojin who was the same age as her, and Hyojin also coached her in Korean. Seeing her earnest effort in learning Korean and her passion for music and dance, Fantasia Entertainment chose her as a Gloria member despite her short training period.

SCANDALS :

2018▸ "Gloria's Erika is 2 months pregnant" (True) After fainting backstage after Gloria's final concert, Erika was rushed to hospital and a checkup revealed that she was pregnant, and dispatch picked up the news quickly. This is when Erika and Gen decided to reveal their relationship to the public.
