JASELYN WAYNE IS IN THE APEX UNIT

Lazarus
NAME Jaselyn Wayne (Jason Willis is new identity given to her by the UVC)

Jason: What her friends refer to her as, shorter version of her name. She also thinks her name is weird and Jason is a simpler name.

The Zombie: What she calls her self when she talks in the third person.

AGE January 1, 1998
Resurrected August 15, 2017 (died at 15, currently 17)
BIRTHPLACE Bronx, New York
HOMETOWN Manhatten, New York
ETHNICITY Caucasian, she never knew the specifics though

LANGUAGE(S)
English: Her mother tongue

Romanian: Fluent but can't read or write, her adoptive father's native language.

FACECLAIM Billie Eilish + Grace Fulton + Angourie Rice

APPEARANCE a
Jason resembles Billie Eilish pretty closely. Except, she's literally only 154 cm and 45 kg. She's a tiny one (but feisty). Despite her perfect resurrection Jason can't tan and is a ghostly white that she almost takes on a grey tint.

Her hair is grey and tends to change easily based on the chemicals in her shower (for example in chlorinated waters her hair gets a green tint because hair's natural reaction to chlorine). Her skin is startingly perfect because of her healing abilities. People always ask her for skincare, it's almost as if she doesn't have any pores.

But let's not forget her eyes. She originally had blue eyes like Billy but after her resurrection, her eyes look blue with an emerald shield. Unnatural, glowing, green but if you look hard enough, ice blue.

She has to cover up veins with makeup because her complexion makes her veins terrifying obvious. Especially under her eyes, her neck, and on her hands.

While her abilites and resurrection healed most past scars and prevent her from scarring. Her autopsy scarred never fully healed for some unknown reason.

Before her resurrection, she has a much tanner complexion and freckles on her cheeks. Her natural hair color brunette.

STYLE
Despite her whole existence, Jaselyn was raised by a very rich man, with a butler that was determined that she and her siblings knew how to dress like very rich people. So yeah, her style is a bit um... expensive. But wow doesn't she look great!
THE BASICS
PERSONALITY
"You're the best human I know."
Brave, ambitious, light-hearted, empathetic, quick-thinking

There's always that one idiot that runs head first at the first sign of danger. Yep, that's Jason. Whether it's a lack of self-preservation ("Guys I literally can't die") or plain stupidity, Jason feels like it's worth it for her to put herself in danger first consideirng she's most likely to survive it. Afterall, she's the girl that at the moment doesn't seem very killable, why not? Her healing abilities cause her to not fear most situations, as well as her natural surivaval instincts. The best way to survive is to learn and adapt, but you can't learn if you're too scare to.

Jason's never been able to let go of the fact she fricking died already. She died without having a first kiss, or boyfriend, or before she even got to graduate high school. Because this, she has a constant need to more, to make sure people remember her. She takes on a lot of hobbies, projects, anything she can. So long as she can live life to the fullest. Then when she dies (again) she'll know this time she did something.

"We're concerned you're not taking this seriously." Of course she is, of course little miss "I pretend I'm a badass but really I'm just a scary-looking nerd." She's never been one to seem serious though. As the youngest in her family, it was implicity her job to make their workaholic father relax. It's become habit for her to not stress out easily, and make jokes in even the worse of situations.

When Jason notices a friend is going through a hard time, she likes to pull up a chair and try to get them to open up. Though they're only in high school, Jason and the members of the APEX Unit have lived through a lot, and she gets that. She also gets that because they're the only ones they know that are like them, they should rely on each other for emphatic support. Afterall, no other person would be able to understand being a superpowered orphan.

Jason's able to react quickly thanks to her thinking ability. Before she was adopted, she was a street kid that had to rely on pure instinct. Instincts that tell her to run, fight, steal. Most importantly, instincts that kept her alive. She trusts her instincts above any of her senses, acting without even thinking. But more importantly, keeping her alive.

"Bold of you to assume I'm human"
Impulsive, short-tempered, abrasive, paranoid, closed-off

Too much quick thinking = impulsive. And oh boy, the urge to tie her down to keep her from doing something else stupid is too high. Sometimes, she'll even act before thinking. Time is crucial in Jason's mind as it was only seconds that determined her dying in that warehouse that night. If she doesn't act fast enough, someone's going to die.

Just like she's quick to act, she's quick to anger as well. While she tends to come off with a cool, light-hearted demeanor. It's actually a lot easier to piss her off than most think. She's the type to throw a chair if someone tells her no. It's not like she wants everything to piss her off, her adoptive father rubbed off on her and in needing things in certain ways. When people broke those ways, Jason broke them.

" I died." Is one of the many catchphrases you'll hear from Jason. She doesn't do well with sensitive people because of her blunt personality. That's the reality, what else would you want is what Jason believes. Too bad she applies this to everything she says to everyone. No matter how bad it may seem (or depressing). She's the type that shouldn't be allowed to have a YouTube channel because she'd never shut up.

Dying then getting resurrected has a lot of side-effects. One of them including accepting the fact that you were dead at one point. Brutually murdered at that. Considering she's been given a second chance at life, Jason wants to take it seriously and never end up like how she did right before she died. In order to ensure this, she has extreme trust issues with people. It took/takes a long time for her to trust the other members of APEX Unit as well as the agents. After all, she barely knows them, how's she supposed to know if they're going to be reliable, or stab her in the back?

Despite her friendly personality, Jason identifies as an introvert and likes to call herself a loner. She makes friend pretty easily, but she holds them all as far as she can throw. As mentioned before, it's very hard to earn her trust and until you do don't expect to know much about Jason. Sure, she'll be your friend, she'll go to the mall with you, she'll let you cry on her shoulder. Hell, maybe she'll invite you out sometimes, but don't expect her to come to you with her problems and secrets. Those are hers alone.

BACKGROUND (TW: death, violence, drugs not used by Jason)
All By Myself
Jason always saw herself as alone. She was born to Jacob and Maria Willis in the poorest neighborhood in New York. Jacob was never around, but when he was he would beat Maria (who was often protecting Jason). He ran with the gangs and was eventually arrested and died in prison. Maria was on for most of Jason's life, starting when Jason was only a year old. Her addiction kills her about two years after Jacob's death, leaving a six-year-old Jaselyn Willis orphaned.

While leaving with Maria and Jacob, even at the age of six Jason's grew to be a quick thinker. Like many other kids living in the slums of New York, Jason sorted through trash for scraps. She did what she had to to survive.

Ohana Means Family
Upon the death of Maria. Jason was turned into social services by her neighbors. She stayed in an orphanage until she was eight-years-old when Anghel Wayne adopted her, changing her legal name to Jaselyn Wayne. Anghel was the CEO of a chain of grocery stores, he adopted her with hopes he'd be able to have a better relationship with her than he currently did with his first child, Josiah.

Anghel managed to gain her trust and love quicker than anyone has (or will). She quickly adjusted to Anghel's much wealthier lifestyle. In fact, she loved the pampered lifestyle of homeschool, private tutoring, and chores. For one, it meant she could be alone. And, she appreciated getting Anghel, Josiah, and Thomas (the family butler) rather than the attention of tens of children.

Till Death Do Us Part
When Jason was 15 (2013), she was well known in the business community as the genius daughter to Anghel Wayne, and very likely to inherit the company when her father retired. Unfortunately, that turned her into a large target for criminals and rival competitors. One the way to a cafe to meet up with some friends (cause she did have to know people outside her family of course), the car was hijacked, Jason was drugged and taken to an unknown location.

A ransom video was filmed of her kidnappers beating her, telling Anghel to give them 10% of the Kial Marts (Anghel's company name) stocks, or they'd kill her. Jason yells out not to do it before the screen goes black. Anghel, against his better judgment, allows the police to investigate before he attempts to pay the ransom.

Fortunately, the police were able to locate Jason. She was being kept in a warehouse up in Syracuse, New York. Unfortunately, they were running out of time before the ransom was over. Helicopters, cars, motorcycles. The police had several units chasing the clock to save Jason. But it was too late. The bomb strapped to Jason set off and she was dead.

I'm Waking Up
Four years later, it's 2017. The Wayne family was never ever to get over Jason's death. Her uncle, Mihai Wayne, decided to use her death as an opportunity for his experiments. Primarily, the Lazarus Project, aka resurrecting the dead.

Her resurrection was beyond what Mihai could've imagined. Not only was she brought back from the dead, but she was brought back as an enhanced superhuman. He almost wanted to claim he created a meta of his niece. She even still had all her memories leading all the way up until her death.

Mihai and Jason were never that close, so he showed her no mercy when it came to understanding the extent of what the Lazarus Project did to her. Realizing he was never going to unite her with the rest of their family, she destroyed everything she could from Lazarus and ran away.

(Note: Jason didn't age the four years she was dead and is 15 currently)

Here We Are
Jason quickly found herself in Syracuse, New York, the city she was killed in. With no real identity (considering her real one was dead). No one recognized her either, a side effect of the Lazarus that altered her appearance beyond recognition. She took to the streets again, but she wasn't a helpless six years old anymore.

Her run in with Agent Wolf and King was completely unexpected. She had managed to track down the site where she died. Among the remains she didn't expect to find a man and woman practically waiting for her. Turns out they were keeping an eye on her uncle (he was the mad scientist kind of guy that was a threat to all humanity). When they found out a whole project had been destroyed, they quickly realized the experiment probably fled as well. They were able to deduce that they test subject was the formerly late Jason Wayne (cause they're smart agents like that) and were searching for her in order to investigate the effects of Mihai's experiment.

Once Wolf and King realized the experiment not only brought her back, but also gave her superhuman abilities, she was recruited by the UVC as a part of APEX. Jason didn't feel like she had much of a choice, considering they could give her a new identity and help her start her life again. But, being a vigilante shouldn't be too bad. Right?

IN THE LIFE OF (NAME)
Jason was never quite able to rub off the millionaire life-style, but she manages. She's known for being addicted to coffee ("This is why you're so short Jason!") and if she's not brewing her own at the crack of dawn, then you could easily find her at any local owned cafe.

When it comes to work, Jason has a very "I'll stop when I die" attitude. She rarely has days where she isn't doing something productive. In fact, there's rarely times when she's not being productive. She has a long, long list of things to get done. Studying, training, stalking her family that has no idea she's alive, she has a part time job (as a barista at the cafe Beanzzz), she also likes to tutor students. And when she's not doing any of that, then she's updating her bullet journal and scheduling the rest of her life.

She'll rest when she's dead (again).

At school, she's especially popular with teachers and students. Not only is she one of the top students (if not the top) but she has an incredibly easy personality to get along with, that is if you don't get on her bad side. Her and Ethan Hale are often dubbed the King and Queen of Edgewood High School (much to Jason, Ethan, and Vanessa's discomfort).
THE TRIVIA
TRIVIA
(Trigger: hints to PTSD)
‣ Jason tends to trace her autopsy scars when she's lost in thought

‣ As a side effect of dying in an explosion, Jason can't be near any loud sudden noises

‣ She experiences a lot of nightmares, hence why she doesn't sleep often.

‣ Jason loves coffee with a burning passion. She often goes to Beanzzz outside of work hours to play around with the machines.

‣ She's one of the few members of Apex that didn't have any combat experience before joining. She trains especially hard because of this, taking muay thai at a local gym and is constantly asking King and Wolf to train her.

Sometimes, Jason forgets her real name is Jaselyn. While she had her new identity be Jason Willis, she still thinks of herself as a Wayne.

Jason's a massive literature nerd. She loves reading just about thing. Fiction, non-fiction, comics, mangas, she reads them all. In her apartment (or however UVC chooses to give her for housing) every room as book shelves filled to the brim.

Since all the other Apex members know how popular she is, they never realized how introverted she truly was until they found her reading by herself on the rooftop at a party (she claims she got dragged there)

She often jokes that her tastebuds didn't come back to life with her because her high tolerance to food, whether it was spicy, fresh from the oven, cold, etc. None of it ever affected her.
Jason gets around Greley mainly by biking around. She's terrible at driving.

Jason saves anything she sees about the Wayne's. She keeps it all in a scrapbook.

Jason became really good at makeup because she had to learn to use it to look less like a zombie

Wolf has tried convincing Jason to get a spray tan to "get some life back into her"

She's not immune to the sun, in fact since she's so pale she's incredibly sensitive to it.

She hates citrus fruits with a burning passion, especially grapefruits

Jason prefers to listen to podcasts over listening to music. She especially likes Hardcore History

Before she was resurrected, Jason was allergic to wheat. She's not used to not being allergic and habitually avoids it.

Once, she tried to punch kid who was trying to flirt with her and called her "shortcake" it took Vanessa and two other characters to drag her away.

Jason sleeps very little. In fact, go to a midnight show of any movie, you'll probably run into Jason.

‣ She absolutely loves wearing heels, she's short, she likes to push herself up as much as she can. Her friends are always surprised how much shorter she becomes when she takes off her heels.

Wolf once tried to get Jason to drink decaf... Never again...

Jason often tries to use the other characters powers in silly ways. For example, she tries to get Vanessa to cook popcorn kernals in her bare hands.

Other than coffee, Jason has an odd addiction to gummy bears

Her favorite color is green and her least favorite is red

Jason gets flashbacks to when her uncle was experiments on her and her final moments. She relies heavily on Wolf to help her through it.
THE RELATIONSHIPS
RELATIONSHIPS

Agent Wolf
Jason and Wolf are especially close. In fact, Wolf is one of the few that Jason lets into her little world. He supports her especially when she suffers from nightmares or flashbacks. They see each other as siblings, quickly bonding other losing their loved ones (his murdered girlfriend and she can no longer talk to her adoptive family). While she lives alone, Wolf comes by to check on her and she often goes to him when it comes to training.

Agent King
Jason and King aren't as close as her and Wolf, but they have a mutual understanding of each other. Considering Jason has already died once, King makes it her job to make sure nothing can kill Jason again. Jason appreciates her tougher love, she knows she needs it to grow stronger. They tend to train in comfortable silence, no small talk needed.

Vanessa Vo
Vanessa reacted to Jason like how most of Apex does. How the heck is she so casual about all of this? In fact Jason came up to her and smiled "Hi, I'm Jason, I used to have a hard time staying alive and now I can't tell if I can die." Like many others, Vanessa can't help but feel Jason's magnetic personality. She's much more aware of Jason's darker side than most though. While they're close friends, both of them are tentative of trusting the other with their personal lives. The bond to their friendship is Ethan Hale.

Ethan Hale
Ethan and Jason are regarded as the two most popular people in their school... unfortunately to both of them. They became fast friends when they realized both of them preferred smaller circles (and the fact Vanessa was close to Jason helped). Jason constantly makes fun of Ethan over his little obsession with Vanessa, bragging about how much time she spends with Vanessa.
THE SUPERHERO
ALIAS Lazarus + Jason decided to stick one more middle finger at her uncle by naming herself after his beloved project that brought her back

SPECIES Enhanced human

ABILITIES
Accelerated healing: Think of her like Deadpool, but not. Jason can heal from any wound almost instantaneously. She doesn't know if she can come back from the dead though, and she'd rather not test that theory. This also makes her immune to poisons as they would pass through her system too quickly.

Enhanced senses: Another result of the Lazarus is Jason's enhanced senses. She has vision comparable to an eagle, smelling and hearing like a dog, and touch like a spider.

Healing Abilities: While it's still a work in progress, Jason discovered she can heal others through physical contact. It requires a lot of her concentration and energy though, and while she heals others her own wounds won't heal.

Intelligence: As top student, Jason has proven to be a quick learner and valuable to the intelligence system for Apex. She knows how to strategize (or is at least learning to) and utilize everyone's unique abilities.

Hand to hand combat and guns: As a requirement by King, Jason knows how to wield a gun and fight hand to hand combat. She practices muay thai outside of the UVC and thanks to King specializes in snipers and handguns.

SUPERSUIT
Jason's suit is a tighter fit than most. The inner layer of her body armor is made of kevlar and the other layer is a matte black leather. She wears a thick vest with pockets for her weapons such as handguns and even parts to build a sniper if needed. She also keeps gadgets such as smoke bombs and first aid supplies in a utility belt. She carries four handguns, two in her vest and two in thigh holsters. To hide her identity, Jason wear a black gas mask over and nose and a black domino mask for her eyes. Her hair is always tied up in a high and tight ponytail.

IN THE LIFE OF LAZARUS
While both Wolf and King discovered her it was Wolf who decided to bring her in to give her a legal life again. Jason's trust issues cause her issues when it comes to following other characters lead. It doesn't help that she's well-aware she's smarter than most of them, if not all of them. While she's never claimed to be the leader, she makes she to assert her opinions into team matters.

While she claims to Wolf that she's particularly close to any of the members, she often makes herself the scapegoat for the others and pushes her limits when it comes to healing the others.
THE INTERVIEW
(Note: for the sake of getting answers, Jason was injected with A LOT of truth serum)

TIGHT FIT OR LOOSE FIT COSTUME Jason smiles stupidly and shrugs. "Either or, but personally I think a tighter fit costume would be easier to be sneaky, less flappy parts." The interviewer looks as Jason for further elaboration. "Okay fine!" She puts her hands up in surrender before grabbing her coffee. "With a tighter costume I'd be able to feel my armor on me which is kind of comforting." She mumbles in between sips.

CAPE OR NO CAPE "Oh god no." Jason rolls her eyes, chugging down the rest of her coffee. "You might as well just shoot yourself."

BE A SUPERHERO OR A SECRET AGENT "Superhero." She answers instantly. "I mean, I already have the superpowers." Jason shrugs, swirling her coffee around before sipping it.

POWER TO FLY OR TO READ MINDS The interviewer waits patiently as Jason gulps down the rest of her coffee. "Read minds, I can learn more about people that way." She shrugs before slurping her coffee. The interviewer is confused, didn't she just finish her coffee?

AGENT WOLF OR AGENT KING "Wolf," again, she replies without thinking, then quick adds, "King is nice and all but Wolf has been there for me in ways I didn't anyone could except for my dad..." Jason doesn't seem to want to reveal the last part but the truth serum works harder "my adopted dad."

FINISH YOUR FINALS TEST OR SAVE HARLEM FROM A RAMPAGING MONSTER? "Save Harlem of course." Jason gives the inerviewer a withering looks. The interviewer resists the urge to crawl under the table. "There are make up tests obviously. Plus missing a test wouldn't affect my grade too much, even if it was finals." She finishes nonchantly, grabbing her coffee. The interviewer realizes this is the third cup she's had in the span of an hour.

YOU SEE YOUR BUS ABOUT TO LEAVE AND AN OLD LADY THAT NEEDS HELP CROSSING THE STREET, WHAT'S YOUR MOVE? Jason raises an eyebrow as if to say You're actually asking that. "Does the old lady want help?" She asks instead. "If she looks desperate I'm not some monster, just a zombie. But if she doesn't want help I'm not going to bother her." She finishes her coffee before getting yet another one.
