QUIRK ♡ Luck be the Man: Reiji has the quirk of extreme luck. Ultimately he has no control over his quirk but it's served him enough that he has come to appreciate his strange quirk. In time of danger when it seems that all the odds are against, his luck will help to get the most unlikely outcome that ultimately saves him. However, same in turn for the opposite. When all favors go for a safe or happy event, his luck will grant him the most unfortunate and least likely outcome.

He can also see how much luck everyone has and what kind of luck (good or bad) it shows through people's eyes, instead of seeing the person's normal color everyone's eyes are two different colors: a blue right eye and red left eye. The more of either luck a person has, the darker the color is. For example, if someone has really bad luck and only a little good luck, their eyes would be light blue and a dark red. Unlike his luck, which changes due to his quirk everyone has a only has one fixed luck.

Though he doesn't necessarily have control over his quirk he's learned how to predict the outcome his quirk may bring as well as how to bring his luck (good or bad) onto others. When he gives someone good luck, his eyes briefly flash blue, when he gives someone bad luck, his eyes shine with red swirls for about a minute. However, each time he actively uses his luck to bring luck onto someone else, his own luck become bad luck and gradually increases as he continues to use his quirk. In other words, the more good luck his gives someone, the more bad luck he gives himself, unfortunately even if he were to give bad luck to someone he still recieves more bad luck himself. People can visible see his self-inflicted bad luck because as that bad luck increases his left eye gets more and more red.

Unlike other people he can't control his own luck, though his luck is different from other people. While other people have one set luck that can be temporarily changed by Reiji, Reiji's luck is constantly changing between two extremes: good and bad. He can't change his own luck though and has to rely on his instincts to help him through both scenarios.

Reiji's can also not work in certain circumstances. As long as Reiji has hope in himself and his companions he has luck by his side, but if Reiji were to lose hope, he loses his luck as well. While he doesn't know what causes his quirk to go away, Reiji discovered it after a series of bad luck events when he was unable to change someone else's luck.

APPEARANCE ♡ He's a little shorter than Makoto, standing at 147 cm and weighing 44 kg, making him one of the shortest in the class. Despite his height, his legs look long, but overall he doesn't have any appearance of tone or muscle of any sort. Just like his faceclaim, Reiji has shown to have bright pink blood, as well as literal glowing eyes when he's feeling strong emotions.

STYLE ♡ He doesn't dress in ways that seem to match his face or personality at all, always clad in some sort of dark colored jacket and dark pants. He'd look punk if it wasn't for his baby face (Link). As for his uniform, he wears almost as normally as you could wear it. Almost. It'd be the normal (aka the way the teacher's want) if he were to not also wear a hoodie or jacket with it or not have a scarf or ear muff. Reiji naturally gets cold easily (he has a feeling it has to do with his quirk, giving him the bad luck of always feeling cold somehow). 

His hero outfit isn't that much differnt, dark and enough thermal protection to keep him from shivering the whole time.

PERSONALITY ♡
— Optimistic, Polite, Extroverted, Intuitive, Truthful

Due to the fact his quirk only works when he is being optimistic or hopeful, it naturally became a part of Reiji to overally optimistic about everything. If there is one thing you can't tell Reiji Saionji it's to give up. To give up to Reiji means to give up everything, to give up means for Reiji to give up what he can do to help people. Giving up doesn't feel like it's an option to Reiji, he knows better than anyone to expect the unexpected. Even in the most dire situations, Reiji will have hope, because Reiji's hope is what can pull him out of anything. Reiji's the type of person that would crawl out of his own grave and tell his friends to keep on fighting, if they just keep fighting they can defeat anything! 

Despite Reiji's usual loud volume and jumpiness, he's known by the others to be the mentally oldest of the class. With his loud, but gentle nature, he has managed to befriend even the most antisocial of people. Yes, he talks loudly, but that's his normal talking voice believe it or not. Reiji's manages to make friends with people easily because of his loud but polite words. Considering he has no control over his quirk unlike most people, Reiji thinks of himself to be more ordinary than other students, afterall, fire doesn't shoort out of his hands or anything. Reiji thinks of himself as the most normal in their class and for that he is polite with the others and down to earth compared to some of the louder, more colorful personalities. 

Of course, despite his views of being ordinary on his self he knows that no one in the class can really just be called normal. While it's not unusual for Reiji to not know too much about... anything, he's good at picking out little truths out of the little he's given using his reasoning skills, almost like a detective. He can pick out when people are lying because they often contradict something that they previously said. Reiji doesn't believe in lying to others, from his experience nothing good can come from it, lying basically sets Reiji up for something bad to happen to him so he does his best to be honest with everyone. Plus, it would be quite hypocritical of Reiji to point out when someone is lying but be a liar as well, so he does his best to always be honest.

 

Paranoid, Zealous, Emotional, Blunt, Self-Neglectful —

Despite his usual cheerful demeanor, Reiji actually has a very hard time trusting others, including himself. Whenever he sees someone all he can usually see is their luck, luck is usually infectious to those around you as well so he's often scared that other people's bad luck will be inflicted upon him and vice versa. He also doesn't trust himself because he knows that he could turn the easiest, safest mission into the most dangerous just by existing. While he loves to talk to people, he doesn't like to get to close to people because he fears passing any sort of luck to them somehow. He's also scared to use his quirk to bring good luck to others because he gets paranoid that if he gives someone good luck it could build up on them to give them more bad luck. Reiji is always suspcious when has to actively use his quirk, nevertheless, he's willing to suffer for his friends.

While usually his optimism and hope are typically seen as good qualities, Reiji has had the habit of his sense of hope going over the border of sane. Reiji is easily affected by any misfortunes that come to his classmates way because he blames any bad luck his friends have on himself (even if that person has inherently bad luck). Because he blames himself Reiji always tries to over compensate and help the people through their misfortunes even when they tell him it's okay. Reiji can get so passionate he seems insane even to his class, laughing hysterically as he cast bad luck on anyone that's ever tried to destroy his class's sprits, because hope can never die. If everyone were to lose hope, then Reiji fears he may lose his own hope, but whatever he does he knows. He cannot give up hope.

There's always the down side to Reiji Saionji's truthful nature, he can never lie. Ever. Though, he probably could be a lot nicer with the truth than he is. When it comes to saying his opinion, Reiji doesn't hold back what he thinks, there's no such thing as sugar coating in Reiji's dictionary. Afterall, if you're going to give the truth, give it like it is, that's what Reiji always tells others. Even when it hurts their feelings, luckily he's good at comforting those he's hurt with his words and offering advice as well that usually helps him to get out of trouble. Reiji does have one more problem though, he's good at helping others, yes, he can just change their luck. But he completely neglects his own safety when it comes to his friends happiness. Once he trusts someone he gives them his all, even when that involves him basically wearing an eyepatch the rest of his life so the rest don't realize what danger he puts himself in.

   THERE'S MORE TO YOU THAN MEETS THE EYE...

PAST ♡ 

One reason that Reiji considers himself to be normal compared to his classmates is because he feels he was raised pretty... well normally for someone going to UA. He had a mom, dad and older sister, all of which he loved very much. He didn't have anything going on at school, he had average grades and a good amount of friends. Back then he didn't even have any control over his quirk so it took a long before he even realized that he had a quirk. If you ask Reiji, he'd tell you he probably didn't actually develop his quirk until junior high. If you ask the rest of his family they'll tell you he's probably had his quirk since he was born. Reiji has lived through many series of good luck and bad luck his whole life. Even when he was born, his mom had luckily already been at the hospital when her water broke because she was trying to see a friend at the hospital. Not to mention his birth went so smoothly the doctors commented that the baby must have some luck. Unfortunately, baby Reiji's luck quickly changed when he finally got home. His crib would break randomly, he'd fall out of his crib, the milk pump would break. Everything that could've gone wrong, went wrong.

Reiji believed there was nothing special of his luck until junior high when he realized he luck is... unnatural. Him and his friends were hanging out in the park and they played rock, paper, scissors to decide who would go buy drinks for them. Reiji had been the loser out of all nine of them, "Wow, you're really unluckily." His friends commented. At the gas station, it was just his luck that the store was stocked with all the drinks and snacks his friends wanted, but none of Reiji's favorites. Not letting that stop him, Reiji bought everything and began to walk back to his friends. Much to his dismay, the plastic bags he was holding to carry the snack both broke when he was crossing the road, a nice old man came over to Reiji (who thought he would help pick them up) and stole some snacks and ran away. Not wanting to get caught in the middle of the road, Reiji didn't have time to pick up the snacks and ran off the road before a car could hit him. Tired after the series of events, Reiji texted all his friends that he got robbed and was going home and walked home. After all of that, Reiji still hadn't realized his quirk actually.

He eventually started having suspicions his quirk involved his luck (he use to think he just had a quirk that wasn't very useful) when he and his sister, Sakurai, realized that he didn't see people eyes normally when Sakurai was talking about the boy she really like and how he had such pretty green eyes, to which Reiji responded that he had dark blue eye and pink eye, just like she did. Sakurai actually had purple eyes though, she then asked him the colors of their parents eyes. He responded the same, one eye some shade of blue, the other some shade of red. But their parents both had brown eyes. While neither of them knew what the colors meant, Reiji was starting to think there was something about him that wasn't as normal as he actually thought.

Reiji finally came to the realization that his quirk had to do with luck when he accidentally gave good luck to his whole family one morning during summer break. Afterall, his sister had a major job interview, his mom had a promotion that they were all hoping for, and his dad had a meeting with a very important client. Why wouldn't he wish them all good luck? After he wished them good luck, his dad realized that his left eye was red ("My left eye is always red." "No Reiji your eyes are green.") and his mom insisted he wear sunglasses. The moment he left the house bad things were happening to him. It started with getting chased by a dog which resulted in him missing the bus, making him run at least a kilometer to the next bus and barely miss it. Of course, once he gets on the bus he realizes that he accidentally a minute away from where him and his friends were supposes but wasn't able to get off until the next stop, so he had to run all the way back to the meeting place. After seeing Reiji's sweaty appearance, his friends decided they should go to the mall where they'll be AC for Reiji to cool down. However, on the way to the mall, Reiji gets separated from his friends when mobs of tourists crowd them and ends up walking around the mall by himself. The ice store he decided to go to ran out of his favorite flavor and clothes he found weren't available in his size. That was before he realized that he lost his wallet and couldn't even buy anything. Having enough his day he decides to sit down and text Sakurai to pick him up when she can. 

While waiting for his sister, Reiji's luck begins to turn around. He actually managed to find his wallet (turns out it was in his pocket the whole time) and discovered a coupon he had for a ramen shop in the mall. While enjoying some tonkatsu ramen, Reiji is randomly handed some strawberry ice cream (his favorite flavor) by a girl advertising the ice cream shop that didn't have strawberry when he came in. Reiji then goes to the shop to buy himself a proper cone of ice cream when they decide to give them a strawberry sundae for free. Not believing his luck, he goes back to the bench to wait for his sister to discover his friends were at the bench along with his sister. After spending a bit with his friends, he and Sakurai go home, Reiji feeling much better about his day. During dinner his parents and sister all had good news about their jobs and how everything went smoothly for them. His mom then remembers Reiji's red eye this morning and checks on it, revealing that his eye had gone back to the normal green color. Sakurai then jokes that it's a quirk, but Reiji couldn't find himself finding the idea ridiculous. Afterall, he didn't get the red eye until after he wished them luck, right? Maybe he isn't as normal as he thought he was...

 

Reiji spent the rest of his summer experimenting with what he could of his quirk before deciding to apply to UA, hoping they could help him better understand what he is fully capable of.

 

 

PRESENT/SCHOOL LIFE ♡
While everyone in the class knows he's a friendly, they also know him for being a bit of creep due to his strange personality that comes with his even stranger abilities. However, they know that Reiji would never cast bad luck on any of them as he's very obvious about his feelings and how fond he is of the whole class. He as a reputation for being loud and having a natural fighting spirit alongside Bakugou and Kirishima, the three called the Fire Trio for their explosive personalities. He's defintely somone no one wants to get on the bad side, but again Reiji isn't a big fan of not liking people, he just tends to come off harsher than he usually means.

Since Reiji is so overly passionate, he's passionate in just about everything that he does and takes it to the extreme. He wakes the earliest of his class to do a morning workout and study, then after school he'll either go out with friends or continue to train or study. He especially loves have study groups and going out for food with his friends. Both boys and girls often get confused of his gender thanks to his height and looks, because of that Reiji has more girl friends than guys friends, his only guy friends being the guys in class 1-A. His seat in class is A.

 

His room is the complete opposite of his clothing style, with stark white walls with some decorations, and the cleanest, brightest room. He doesn't collect much unless you include his many stacks of notebooks, pens, pencils, and markers that surround his working area. (Link)

ONE — Strawberries, his favorite fruit.
TWO — Journals and stationary, he began a habit of journaling everything that happens everday at night so he could read over good and bad memories and keep track of his luck.

ONE — Staring people in the eyes for a little too long when he first meets them, no one's eyes are the exact same so Reiji always has to take time to decipher what kind of luck they have.

NICKNAMES ♡ 

PERSONALITY ♡ Eijiro is one of the loud ones of the class. He easily makes friends with anyone he deems to be some he can respect, people who are noble, brave and determined. He's hot-blooded and tends be more rash when making decisions. He will do whatever it takes to help out his friends including breaking the rules, he feels deep regret when he fails to help his friends with all his power. Eijiro has had the tendency to doubt his quirk and his own strength but for the most part he's quite confident in himself.

TRIVIA ♡ Eijiro developed his quirk when he was three years old and accidentally cut his left eye. He went the same school as Mina for Junior High and was insecure about himself due to his inability to stand againsts bullies as well as how he thought her quirk was much better than his quirk. He tells Mina that he will fight his insecurity, but Mina told him to himself grow out of his insecurities out. 

- He likes meat and "manly" things as well as an spicy and hot foods, the spicer the better because it proves his manliness when he eats it.
- Eijiro doesn't like people who cheat or are cowards and isn't the biggest fan of sweet foods as he has a very low sugar tolerance.
- He gets tears in his eyes when someone is doing something that he thinks is manly (brave)
- He's one of the few people that gets along with everyone in his class
- He hates when people touch his hair because they could ruin the style

   SURELY YOU HAVE THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE...

FIRST MEETING ♡ "Hey buddy I know I'm handsome but... Hello?" Huh? Reiji snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Eijiro's voice, he'd never seen someone with dark blue eye and such a light pink eye, he almost couldn't see Eijiro's left iris. Reiji coughed, trying to recover from the awkwardness he caused. "I've never seen lu- eyes like yours before." He knew he got weird when he talked about luck and for some reason he couldn't bring himself to spit the words like he normally would. The red head just laughed and scratched the nape of his neck, "Thanks buddy I like your eyes too, but I'm not the only one with red eyes." Reiji could feel his face flushing. "Well, I'm sure I'll enjoy being in class with you." He smiled, looking up at the much, much taller boy.

After class that first day the two decided to go out for dinner. Reiji and Eijiro both loved spicy food so they found the spiciest ramen store in Tokyo. Reiji was having a good luck streak so he wasn't too worried about anything happening. During their meal Reiji began to grow affectionate for Eijiro and his boisterous and playful personality. Not to mention with all his good luck, Reiji couldn't help but feel... safe with Eijiro.

RELATIONSHIP ♡ The main reason Bakugou jokes Reiji being a girl because of how "girly" he acts when he's around Eijiro. Upon asking him why he got so strange around Eijiro, Reiji could only stutter out. "He's just so... manly..." And they left the conversation at that. Eijiro and Reiji together are cluster of shouting and eating. They literally could talk about anything when they're together. Eijiro and Reiji had gotten to the point of closeness where they hold nothing from each other. Reiji however does hold one thing from him, while everyone knows that Reiji quirk can change other people's luck they don't know that he goes through streaks of bad luck and good luck. The only person that is aware of that is Chidori, who helps to keep him safe. However, to not draw suspicion to Eijiro, Reiji still hangs out with Eijiro even during his bad luck but Chidori sometimes tags along (as a third wheel) just in case.

Both Bakugou and Chidori know about his crush on Eijiro and Bakugou constantly teases him about it. Of course, Bakugou and Chidori are also Eijiro's best friends, who know very well that Reiji and Eijiro have feelings for each other, but neither of them are willing to tell the other. Though Eijiro is disappointed in himself that he isn't brave enough to ask Reiji out. While Chidori kept her promise and never told Eijiro about Reiji's luck, he is one of the smartest in the class for a reason. He deduced that Reiji has extreme bad luck as a result of giving others luck and gets extremely protective when he sees Reiji wearing an eyepatch.

CONCLUSION ♡ Reiji and Eijiro got together after a long, long series of unfortunate events. Reiji brought the bad luck onto himself this time, having to wear an eyepatch for much longer than usual since he's been giving as much good luck as he can to others (for whatever problems they may be having). Reiji was beginning to realize he might have a deadly amount of bad luck as the accidents started to get weirder. A car running a red light was one thing, but a piano dropping from a building was another. His luck was so bad he wasn't even letting Chidori close to him, going into a complete anti-social shell. At that point everyone was concerned, what happened to their usual, kind of creepy, cheerful friend? Eijiro was the most concerned, even despite Reiji's protests he wouldn't let the other out of his sight. 

They went through the rest of the week together, Eijiro saving Reiji a number of times whether from getting mugged or losing his wallet. Anything and everything that could have happened was happening to Reiji, he burnt his tongue trying to eat his favorite soup, then almost started a fire trying to make curry. Not to metnion, cars seems to pass red lights whenever he's crossing the street, and trains magically grow overcrowded to the point Reiji would feel like he was sufforcating. But in the end, he brought his bad luck upon hisself so his did his best to take his punishment. Eijiro refused to let him go through it alone, fearing for Reiji's life after the fire curry incident.

When Reiji's bad luck finally went away, Eijiro learned a whole new side of Reiji. He saw more than just the kind smile and sharp words he threw at everyone, or the glowing red eyes. He saw someone who was scared for their life because they wanted to help others, and while it could be seen as cowardly. Eijiro couldn't help but notice how brave Reiji was, risking his life because he wanted to give the most he could for his friends, no matter what that meant for him. Eijiro found a new courage to finally ask out Reiji when the bad luck finally ended. Reiji (obviously) accepted his feelings, and the two became the loudest couple in the class. Eijiro constantly yelling at Reiji from his seat.
