marine stands at 163cm tall and weighs 46kg with marine wishing she could be at least 2 centimetres taller. despite that, her proportions are rather good thus giving many the illusion of her being taller than she actually is.

growing up, marine had heard many compliments about her visage with a clear and blemish-free complexion, doe-like eyes and more with her giving a youthful yet mature and classy vibe. marine happens to be short-sighted and does own glasses however, she isn't fond of wearing them or contact lens due to it not being so uncomfortable and thus would barely be seen with them in public—a quick wear of her glasses to read something then putting it away in her bag at most. marine also has her ears pierced but barely puts earrings on—the times she would have earrings on, they're usually due to a stylist's idea.

marine takes pride in her visuals, and is fond of the beauty marks on her face—one being just below her left eye and one being on her right cheek. she tends to go for a natural approach with makeup so her beauty marks could shine with marine being known to draw back on her beauty marks if a foundation she is wearing has completely covered them up.

Elaboration: MANY INDIviduals' impression of marine is often positive as she often displays herself as rather lady-like, being filled with a poise demeanour and a set of good manners with marine conversing eloquently of many topics with many, particularly much older ladies, commenting how she would be the kind of girl one would want to introduce to their parents. MARINE IS KNOWN TO BE QUITE FREE-THINKING AND independent, and not wanting to be like a sheep in a herd and thus expresses herself rather genuinely with the things she likes, dislikes, her opinions and more—she doesn't expect everyone to agree with her tastes or viewpoints but she does expect everyone to respect it. WITH THAT BEING SAID, SHE ISN'T NEEDY OF OTHER PEOPLE'S opinions of her to be validated as a human being. however, with that being said, marine has a tendency of being quite brusque and blunt with people which can sometimes offend others which can be just as bad if sarcasm and irony are used and the other party does not seem to fully grasp and understand that which may make situations worse so in other words, what had originally been a sarcastic comment or joke had been misinterpreted. in her own opinion, she believes that she is not the best person to go to for consolement due to her bluntness however, she considers herself to be rather good when it comes to giving rather rational advice due to her intelligence and morals.

SHE IS VERY CAPABLE OF KNOWING WHAT IS RIGHT AND WHAT IS WRONG and can sometimes stick with them quite strongly that those who do not fit within her set of expectations can be expected to be publicly or secretly criticised and judged about by her which can be considered as slightly two-faced. Don't get her wrong—she is actually rather quite amiable and easy to interact with however, there are moments when one might think of marine as being similar to that of a robot as if she has no emotions with her being blasé at times for when she experiences something too many times, she can become rather 'indifferent' or desensitised to it, for instance: you may approach marine to talk about your personal problems which she will be attentive and concerned about but continously doing that and marine becomes desensitised from it and becomes indifferent from it as well as annoyed and to some extremes, SHE would avoid interacting with you much for she will automatically assume that you will be talking about your problems. ALSO, this rather blasé attitude can sometimes make marine lazy with performing certain activities.

on the other side of the spectrum, marine is known to also be rather emotional and affectionate as seen with her sentimental attachments to objects and people to points in which she might be described as an unlimited source of water for her sentimentality can lead her to the verge of crying quite a lot but it just goes to show that marine is rather thoughtful and appreciative of what or who enters her life. those around her sometimes get worried about her due to this specific trait of hers for there have been an occasion or two when marine would end up tearing up out of nowhere which adds a pinch of a child-like quality to her. THERE IS ALSO A SLIGHT BIT OF PLAYFULNESS TO HER AS MARINE IS KNOWN TO DO A FAIR amount of teasing and flirtatious remarks to others which can sometimes embarass the opposite party. overall, marine pretty much acts like an average adolescent wherein she seems responsible... to an extent but still seeming to be in need of some supervision on occasion.

Background: seo sooyeon had moved from korea to france around the early 1990s for  university and after graduating, had decided to work and permanently reside in france wherein she had met a korean man named kim dongwoo whom she had ended up in a long-term relationship with. around MID-1998, sooyeon had found out she was pregnant and when having told him of the news, he had been visibly upset by it, told her that he didn't want to have a child and confessed that a couple months prior that he had been having an affair with someone else before leaving her and disappearing without a trace. sooyeon and dongwoo had rented and shared a lavish apartment together prior and with him having left, sooyeon couldn't afford to keep living there.

luckily, her mother had a friend (whom she had known for over 5 years around that point), jean, who had been ever so kind and offered her to stay over at his home and helped her with her pregnancy. during her pregnancy, the pair ended up dating and about two months before the baby was to arrive, the pair ended up getting married.

on VALENTINE'S DAY OF 1999 at 11:57pm, the baby had been born and as a thank you for everything jean had done for sooyeon, let him name the baby in which he thought of the name 'marine'. as for the surname, sooyeon initially thought of just making her daughter's name 'marine seo'. although marine wasn't jean's biological daughter, he proposed that marine adopts his surname of beaumont for after all, they would be family and how he felt like a father to sooyeon's child during her pregnancy thus how 'marine beaumont' had come to be with marine having been raised with so much love and comfort by her mother and father.

her mother worked as a museum curator whilst her father worked as a paediatrician so, one can say that growing up, marine's health was pretty much well-taken care of, and many of marine's childhood memories have been joyful with many laughs, fun excursions and more. those who witness the family can pretty much tell that she has them wrapped around her fingers. there have been times when her parents would be too busy with work thus she would then be under the care of her 'paternal grandparents' who would watch musical films with her or on occasion, she would go watch a play or musical at a theatre, or a ballet production which led her to be enamoured with the performing arts.

marine didn't know how 'big' k-pop had been getting until she saw news back in the summer of 2010 of a smtown concert in paris. prior to that, marine had never been to korea and she had only really known about boa and ses and a couple of much older korean songs as her mother played those songs around their home regularly. she had gotten more curious about kpop and from the internet, had been exposed to more kpop artists with her leaning more towards sm entertainment and groups like snsd and super junior whom she became a fan of.

marine had never considered becoming a kpop idol. actually, she didn't have the slightest clue of what she wanted to be as she gotten older so her time in school had been filled with her doing her best in classes and taking part in some extra-curricular activities so to help her with getting into a good university and having her choices open. marine had never been to korea until 2015 when she had been approached by a sm scout who insisted that she audition for sm entertainment to be an actress whilst also trying to reassure her and her family that they weren't trying to scam them. honestly, marine had not been too interested but they continued talking about it with her and her family for about two hours and they decided to appease them by having marine audition. marine's not a bad actress but marine's diction of the korean language back then-in her opinion-had been really awkward and bad but somehow she had ended up being accepted and offered a place as a trainee for the company which was a complete surprise to her... to everyone, really.

initially, she was going to reject the offer but something at the back of her head was urging her to give it a go—it reminded her of when she was a little kid and dreamt of becoming an actress. she had a rather long discussion with her parents about it and honestly, they would prefer for her to just reject the offer but if she wanted to go for it, they would let her as long as she continues and finishes her compulsory education at the very least and that if there does not seem to be big enough progress by the time she would graduate (so around two to three years), that she would leave and thus started her period as a trainee for sm entertainment. how she went from acting training to idol training was a much different story...

- when marine was 13 years old, marine's parents have told her the truth of how jean beaumont wasn't her actual biological father which had come as a huge shock to her. she never questioned or thought of it at all. yes, she didn't look much like her father and she didn't question anything for she had always been told that she is like a picture-perfect copy of her mother. jean beaumont is also titled as her father on her birth certificate. nevertheless, she still considers jean as her 'papa'. she is slightly curious of her actual birth father but after everything marine had been told about him, she is just fine leaving things as it is, not wanting things to get any more complicated. she doesn't ever tell anyone about this. it would have been nice to know her biological father but he didn't really leave any clues to where he could be and all. she never brought up her biological father to her mother as marine could see that it would sadden her.
- MARINE is startled very easily by noise. ANY NOISE TO BE FAIR. SHE ENDS UP MAKING rather unique sound effects when displaying the shock and would try to cover it up.

- OUT OF ALL THE GIRLS, MARINE IS PROBABLY THE ONE WHO HAS TRAVELLED TO THE MOST COUNTRIES BUT THAT IS MOSTLY DUE TO HER HAVING RESIDED IN MAINLAND EUROPE (and her parents being quite affluent) thus making access to a lot of other countries quite easy.
- DESPITE HER NAME HAVING CONNOTATIONS TO THE SEA, MARINE CANNOT SWIM to save her own life.
- LOVES JOURNALS AND JOURNALLING. ONE IS BOUND TO FIND A JOURNAL, NOTEBOOK AND OTHER STATIONERY ON HER PERSON IN HER BAG AT ALMOST ALL TIMES. she owns a huge amount of stationery with her collection of it expanding quite frequently.
- WHEN SHE IS THINKING HARD OF WHAT TO SAY OR LOSES TRACK OF WHAT SHE IS SAYING (ETC.) SHE HAS A HABIT OF going 'euhh' or BLOWING RASPBERRIES WHICH OFTEN CATCHES A FEW PEOPLE OFF GUARD.
- WHEN SHE MOVED TO KOREA, SHE HAD BROUGHT A WINNIE THE POOH TEDDY BEAR WITH HER. IT HAD BEEN SOMETHING WHICH SHE HAS HAD SINCE A BABY AND FINDS THAT BEAR TO BE A GOOD LUCK CHARM AND SOMETHING REMINISCENT OF HOME AND HER FAMILY. THERE HAD BEEN OCCASIONS OF HER ALMOST BEING ON THE VERGE OF TEARS WHEN SHE THOUGHT SHE LOST THE BEAR. she loves anything winnie the pooh and can quote many of the phrases the silly ol' bear has said.
- loves the occasional retail therapy. there days it is usually done online with being an idol and all in spite of the fact she prefers physically going to the shops.

- TOUR LES JOURS IS A RATHER POPULAR BAKERY IN KOREA, AND DURING HER TRAINEE DAYS AND POST-DEBUT WOULD FREQUENTLY GO THERE TO EAT SOME PASTRY (WHICH ALSO REMINDS HER SLIGHTLY OF HOME). THE PASTRY IS DECENT, QUITE NICE, EVEN BUT MAYBE IT IS HER BEING A BIT OF A PASTRY SNOB (?), BUT IT DOES NOT TASTE THE 'SAME'.
- PEOPLE ARE OFTEN JEALOUS OF HOW MARINE CAN SLEEP SO quickly AND QUITE DEEPLY THROUGH CAR JOURNEYS AND FLIGHTS.
- marine always has the urge to roll her eyes and tut whenever she witnesses someone acting a bit too spoilt, arrogant and rude.
- MARINE IS LEFT-HANDED.
- hates tardiness. would get a bit annoyed if the other party doesn't warn them at all that they will be running late.
- MARINE IS RATHER GOOD AT SKIING ESPECIALLY WITH HER HAVING GROWN UP IN A CITY tHAT IS IN  close PROXIMITY to the french alps.
- a RATHER HUGE HISTORY BUFF, AND IS FOND OF SENDING HISTORY MEMES OR JOKES TO FRIENDS and if someone doesn't get it, she will give a huge history lesson around it. this is probably due to how she had been raised by a mother whose work involves a whole lot of history.
- MARINE AND HER FAMILY ARE CATHOLIC. THEY (excluding her mother) DO NOT REGULARLY PRACTICE IT AS MUCH SO, ONE MAY TITLE THEM AS 'CULTURAL CATHOLICS'. BEFORE LEAVING FOR KOREA, HER MOTHER GAVE HER A ROSARY in which she has hung in her dorm room. to contradict this slightly, she can be at times superstitious.
- MARINE can play the guitar and piano.
- she has asthma and keeps an inhaler on her at all times in case she has an asthma attack which she does not have often. better safe than sorry.
- has a condition of sorts called 'social exhaustion' wherein too much socialising specifically socialising that seems too 'active' and 'hyper' will lead her to getting extremely tired and thus needing to recharge which is usually by napping or just spending time by herself. 
- she can't carry heavy-ish things for a long time. if she does, her back and hands end up aching really bad.
- she doesn't like summer so much due to the season being too hot and humid. she doesn't like the idea of getting sweaty.
- die-hard romantic. loves reading romance novels and watching romance films especially if there happens to be some angst and some heartbreak. one of her guilty pleasures include reading webtoons and manhwas. claims that romance is cliché and cheesy yet you may find her squealing at a romance webtoon. some people find her a bit twisted for she prefers romance with a lot of angst, unrequited love and heartbreak.
- morning shower kind of girl and it takes her approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes to shower, wash, do skincare, get dressed, make-up (etc.)
- marine doesn't like pizza or burgers but if it is there, she does not mind eating it.

- clubbing is not her cup of tea. she would rather just stay in the dorms or go to a place wherein the ambience is more relaxed like a café or museum.
- avid reader of novels and poems. she likes to have a hand in writing poems in which, to be honest, could pass as songs.

- unlike most idols or trainee idols who would attend hanlim arts or sopa for their education, marine attended seoul foreign school.

- aside from family (etc.) which she misses back home, she also misses being able to watch eurovision on tv. korea doesn't show it and there's also the time difference issue so marine tends to search for a livestream of sorts on her laptop so she won't miss out on the fun, songs... and memes. at least she doesn't have the same problem when it comes to watching football (soccer) which she also enjoys watching. marine ended up going wild and turning into an emotional mess when france won the 2018 fifa world cup.
- marine is a fan of her labelmates particularly with groups such as snsd, f(x), exo, boa, rv, suju (practically everyone) outside her company, she likes iu, oohyo and quite a number of girlgroups.
- marine fears insects and would probably lose her composure if they happen to be near or on her, or if it ends up surprising her.
- when or if the day comes when blue moon disbands, marine is most likely going to choose to move back to france and if she feels as though she has not earnt enough money from her work as an idol, she would most likely go back into education, go to university, graduate and get another job. the other option is to work as an actress in korea.

blue moon member: kang woolim / prior to blue moon, marine had not really interacted with woolim unless the occasional smile and greeting counts. marine had heard of woolim and had been rather shocked by how long woolim had trained under the company and how talented she was. marine pretty much had quite a lot of respect towards the older girl due to her resilience in fulfilling her dreams with marine having found woolim having won the second spot for sm's new gg being well-deserved and with people like woolim, marine would have moments of guilt as marine having won a spot to debut felt more like her stealing a spot from someone who wants it more than she does. with marine becoming more familiar with woolim, marine concluded that woolim was really sweet and motherly, finding herself to get along with her just alright however, her nagging and such can be a bit overbearing at times.

blue moon members: ??? / marine honestly wants to get along with all the girls; they all seem talented and nice enough, and she finds herself engaging in conversations with them, joking with them (etc.) but she sometimes questions whether any one of the girls actually don't like her especially with marine's circumstance (refer to trainee life). besides from that, there are some culture shocks between her and the girls... as well as a slight language barrier when words being used are more complex and uncommon with marine needing some help to explain what certain expressions mean especially slang or idioms which sometimes gives everyone a bit of a laugh. if there happens to be drama between members, marine will most likely be the one telling them that being mad (etc.) is not worth it and to calm down or she will be dashing out of the scene as quick as lightning if things seem to be escalating too far.

  
  
sm's -99 line: rv's yeri, nct's lucas & mark & hendery / with the three being born the same year as marine, they all pretty much can interact with each other informally.  marine had still been under the acting department of the company when mark and yeri debuted so interaction predebut had not been much especially with yeri. marine is more familiar with the two boys (three, actually with hendery) for like them, she too had to go have korean language lessons in which marine remembered having to nudge and shake lucas to wake him up and complain discuss how korean is so difficult to learn with mark and hendery so they would often practice their korean together (which might have been a good or bad idea) whilst eating together or something similar of the sort which just led up to them all becoming close, teasing each other (etc.)

marine ended up running into yeri once in the sm building around the time when sm were picking girls one by one to debut for blue moon—they were able to converse with each other and they hit it off rather quickly with the two having exchanged numbers and kakaotalk ids with the pair sending messages of support to one another as well as other things like memes which led to them deciding to meet up with each other when available such as going to a café, some shopping undercover (etc.) marine tends to call yeri by her 'english name' of 'katy' instead and had taught yeri some french which marine doesn't find too good but really cute. they also have a penchant of trolling each other and using sarcasm when they talk to the point that if one didn't know they were friends, one might think they really don't like each other.

  
friend: nct/wayv's liu yangyang / the pair had both taken korean language classes together and marine had gotten so excited when she found out that he was from and had lived in germany—they were able to relate with each other quite a lot and the two tend to communicate with each other in english. when yangyang had been revealed by sm as a smrookie then a member of nct's chinese unit wayv, a number of fans have ended up shipping the two together most likely when it had been revealed that the two are friends and the fact that they're both the first ever 'european idols' to be debuted under sm entertainment with the pair finding the whole scenario to be quite amusing and at the same time rather scary for although there seems to be a number being for the idea of the pair 'dating', there is a number highly against it. marine is a year older than yangyang; it's not that big of an but marine has a thing for babying him which can look rather odd and quite embarassing on yangyang's part especially when considering their height difference.

  
pareNts: maman et papa sooyeon & jean beaumont / marine loves them dearly and they adore her to death and would do just about anything for her. they live at the other side of the world and with a 7 hour time difference between them with marine and training and her parents' rather demanding and time-consuming occupations, communicating with each other can be a challenge. although they had been rather against the idea of her having stayed in korea to go through a career path in the entertainment industry, they had given her encouragement when needed and had become her biggest fans when she had debuted. her parents are well-known for giving sweet surprises such as sending a hand-written letter and bouquet of flowers for her sent to the group's dorm which would most likely have her slightly teary-eyed. their bond is so close that marine is comfortable with telling them anything and everything.

FUN FACT! instead of just having had her birth name as her stage name, the company had considered having her name as 'valentine' or 'heart' with them having been inspired by her visuals and birthday but the names just did not stick. thank god. however, many of her fansites have had their names inspired by it, e.g. a fansite being called 'ma valentine'.

Trainee life:
as what had been briefly mentioned priorly, marine had been scouted by sm entertainment for acting and she had been rather known amongst fellow acting trainees to have had stunning visuals but her acting skills? well, to trainees, particularly those who didn't know her as much, wasn't up to par. marine had found the acting lessons really fun and interesting but frustrating and difficult at times. the acting coaches would comment how she has charisma and knows how to 'mold' herself into many characters but her diction could be completely off which in turn would let down her performance and so amongst acting classes, she had multiple korean lessons a week so to improve her conversation skills and pronunciation. plus, there was also school thus having had her schedule so busy and tiring.

what quite irked her during her training would be the expectation that many of the acting coaches had on her which was at best if she succeeds is that she would be a tv actress that would mostly just delve into cliché romance plots. marine felt lonely at times whilst training. marine was a bit of an anomaly amongst her acting trainee peers was that she was pretty much the only 'foreign' trainee with practically all of the foreign trainees training to be an idol. there was also the fact that she was a continent away from home and was experiencing some homesickness, missing her parents (etc.) she was glad that she can phone or video call them but there had been moments when marine just wants them to give her a hug.

she was regretting her decision of ever leaving france and coming to korea and was seriously considering to leave. many of her peers were noticing how marine would be 'out of it' during training and seeming quite blasé in classes that some were making bets on how long until she cracks. marine later made up her mind and that once the year finishes (it had been 2016 around this time), she would leave the company. a week before she was planning to tell the company she wanted to leave, a staff member had approached her and said that she had been chosen to model in a cf for a cosmetics and skincare brand which surprised and baffled her. she seriously considered the timing of this as a sign for her to not give up just yet...

she absolutely loved the experience. it was something surreal to her, and had been overwhelmed by the viral attention she had been receiving from the cf she partook in. the comments revolving around her had been generally positive and when news was revealed on who the 'inisfree girl' had been, quite a number had been giving her words of encouragement and praise to debut, and it wasn't until it her her on how she had never realised just how 'lucky' she had been as well as how there are other people who would kill to be in the position she was in and there she was who had not really cared much. from then on, she was going to work twice as hard especially as the opportunity given to her had firmly made up her mind that being in the entertainment industry is something she does want to do. however, two months after the cf had been released, some higher-ups of the company had approached her again and told her about how the company was thinking about switching her from training to become an actress to training to become an idol, believing that it would be most beneficial and profitable to her (and the company).

they explained to her about the whole 'change' and even reassured her that if she does switch, then she could still resume doing some acting classes as some trainee idols do opt doing some acting classes on top of singing, dancing, rapping training. she ended up agreeing to the switch and she found herself having been much happier especially as she seemed to be making friends and such but wow, the training had become more intense. trainers and trainees were rather surprised with her singing—it was rather good and there was so much potential in it. they didn't expect much from a now former acting trainee for there had been the idea that most trainees for acting had mainly been picked due to their visuals and it wasn't long until she had been considered a trainee to look out for especially with her viral cf which gained her some public recognition.

it wasn't long too until sm had announced that they were planning to debut a new girlgroup. from a realistic standpoint, marine knew that once this new girlgroup debuts, there would be no chance for her or any other girl around her age to be debuting especially as idols are getting younger and younger and the fact that the next time sm would debut another girlgroup wouldn't be any time soon after. like every other girl, she worked herself to the max, and every single time a girl had secured a spot for debut, she and others would train harder to impress the higher-ups in charge of picking the girls for the group.

marine had ended up winning and securing the fourth debut spot, and her having been chosen had been considered 'controversial'. after the announcement of sm debuting a new girlgroup, there had been rumours circling around with marine and the reason behind her having been switched from acting to idol training had been due to how sm had been planning to debut her in the girlgroup with sm thinking that she would probably bring more immediate popularity to the group—they were technically assuming that sm had some kind of favouritism with her which marine found absolutely ridiculous. although she was glad that she had won a spot, she was questioning whether she actually deserved it and even after debut with blue moon, she is still questioning it from time to time. does she really want this? does she really deserve it?

EXTRA! before having become a trainee under sm, she had never really looked or was that aware of the ethical issues kpop has. most likely if she had decided to stop training and leave the company, marine would probably look into becoming a civil rights lawyer or something similar.

personality:
if marine happens to be the more calm and collected one, then wong yukhei aka lucas is practically the opposite with him being known to be rather loud, hyper and talkative thus making him a rather sociable and amiable person to approach and befriend. in a way, one can compare him to a beagle with him also being capable of acting hyperactive to the point where one might find him annoying and overbearing. like a beagle, he also happens to be very playful and at times a bit of a prankster but also a loyal and caring friend when bonds are established. despite this rather confident front, amongst those who know him, he can be rather apprehensive and insecure at times and snippets of this could be seen through how he can be rather stubborn and defensive about certain comments that are directed to him even if they may be jokes. nevertheless, he does like attention and can be rather selfish and jealous when attention on him by friends (etc.) is taken away, usually to the point when it seems as though they have forgotten that he was there.

what can be considered as slightly similar with marine's character would be how they are both independent-minded people with expressing themselves and their thoughts rather genuinely. lucas can be rather oblivious of the atmosphere at times even if things may seem rather obvious. 

Love story:
both marine and lucas entered the company the same year and with both the two being considered foreigners, it was compulsory for them to attend korean language lessons wherein they just so happened to have sat by each other. marine noticed him slowly leaning back and forth on his seat and dozing off to sleep and so marine had decided to wake him up by prodding his shoulder with her finger and telling him to wake up which startled him, causing him to shout out of surprise rather loudly and causing marine to jump out of her seat due to the sudden noise. lucas ended up getting into trouble by the teacher for causing disturbance in the class and was told to stay outside the classroom for the last 15 minutes of the class which marine felt quite guilty about having caused.

she ended up approaching him when class had ended and said, "sorry about that by the way. i didn't mean to get you in trouble."

"it's alright, man! i kind of deserved it."

this conversation could have just ended there with a goodbye but marine smiled and put her hand out for a handshake and formally introduced herself, "marine. france. nice to meet you" in which he had accepted and said, "yukhei. hong kong. nice to meet you, too" and thus mirroring her response. the two chuckled from the awkwardness but that day started a blooming friendship between the two.

it first started with the two frequently talking and helping each other out with korean then exchanging phone numbers then planning occasional hangouts to a cafÉ, museum or shop (most of which planned by marine as she wanted company and didn't have many friends in her department) and before you knew it, they just ended up getting close with the two opening up to each other more on the whole trainee lifestyle and aspirations for the future—lucas never knew she was training to become an actress until a month or so after knowing each other when lucas mentioned how he had barely seen her around the company apart from when they had korean classes with mark butting into the conversation and saying that everyone knew.

as much as they have gotten along quite well with each othr, there are many moments when they sort of don't with marine sometimes getting quite irritated and exhausted whenever lucas gets too hyperactive and immature whilst he would get annoyed at her for being a bit too 'proper' and what he considers quite 'stiff'.

lucas had been quite upset when marine had told her that she would leave the company as although acting training had been quite interesting and had taught her many things, there didn't seem to be much progress and there was also the homesickness (etc.) there would be no chance of the two friends hanging out anymore especially with how marine had also stopped attending korean language classes for her korean had been considered to be at a more than acceptable level now. however, he ended up being rather glad when he found her at the company still and was supportive when she had told him that the company featured her in a cf which ended up being successful and decided to stay in the company a little longer with her agreeing to switch to idol training.

"let's debut together, okay?"
"okay."

from the whole switch, the two friends ended up spending time and interacting each other more frequently in spite of training. marine had been just as proud when lucas had been introduced by sm as a new smrookie in april 2017 with lucas mentioning a huge chance in debuting by next year from what staff had thought and told him. and when rumours of sm planning to debut a new girlgroup had been spreading around and later revealed, he wished her the very best and gave many messages of encouragement and had been so excited when marine eventually ended up winning a spot to debut.

"it's happening... oh my, it's actually happening!"

before, when rumours of sm debuting a new girlgroup had been nothing but rumours, like many trainees within the company, marine and lucas had been gossiping about it and other things. since marine didn't find it that important since this piece of information is sort of invalid now, marine had mentioned how a year prior so around mid-2016, marine had ended up having a little crush on him for like a month or two before she had gotten over it; he was quite shocked and confused by that.

"ummm... thanks, i guess? wait... so what made you like me and why did you stop?"
"well... 1) you're good-looking and 2) well, you're a sweet guy"
"so...?"
"oh what stopped me? well, from after knowing you for quite a long-ish amount of time... i don't think i'll be able to tolerate someone as hyperactive and childish as you."
"ahh... i see. wait... hey! i'm not that bad!"

they both took this little piece of news lightly and their friendship still remained in tact however, what changed between them would be how they would do a whole load of playful flirting in which many surrounding them had mistaken as the two perhaps dating or at the friends crushing on each other stage when in fact, it had just been an inside joke between them based around marine's confession.

when the two ended up finally debuting, they had practically made it no secret to the public that they were close friends... well, even if they wanted to keep that a secret, they couldn't due to how netizens have found pre-debut pictures of the two (with other sm trainees/idols) on things like outings or just walking together to the sm building in which have led to speculations-moreso by fans-on whether or not they are dating or have dated each other before.

as time passes, the two tend to remain acting as they usually do but a tad more intimate. those close who are around them would question them more frequently on what their relationship actually is with marine and lucas insistently repeating that they are just close friends. but are they? the two end up engaging in conversations about their future which often brings up the topic of romance and retirement and conversations like these would lead to them seeing and thinking of the other in a deeper and more romantic light, considering the other as a potential romantic interest that lead to moments of marine blushing at sweet gestures made towards her by him or lucas feeling quite jealous of some of the interactions in which she makes with other guys and thus leading to a rather tense and awkward atmosphere between the pair as they try to sort out their feelings of whether actual romantic feelings are involved or the comments in which they have heard or seen from friends or online happen to just be misleading them into thinking they actually like each other in that light.

hesitantly after a lot of internal debating, one of them cracks and mentions how they are not sure whether they see the other as just a good friend or something more, and they respond by feeling the same and so they have decided to go on a trial date or two to try and confirm things.

"RIn, i feel as though we're following some sort of cheesy plotline from one of those mushy romance novels you like reading. i kind of want to throw up."
"well, if it happens to be one of those mushy romance novels that i happen to like so much, then one of us is going to end up being in pain, heartbroken or dead by the end."
"oh yeah, i forgot that you were a bit of a sado-masochist—"
"no, i'm no-!"
"so 7pm next friday?"
"yeah-wait, don't you have something scheduled on friday?"
"no, oh... yeah. ."

it had been a struggle finding a day when they both could be free but they succeeded in the end. it had been a rather awkward one mostly due to the fact that they pretty much had to be undercover and the fact that they weren't used to or familiar with dates but they somehow managed to have some fun and found themselves going on more of these 'couple-like' dates. their friends have then asked whether they are dating now but they're still in this stage of investigation and exploration whilst having fun. they're still young and they don't need to rush for a conclusion.

ending: if you don't mind, i'd like to leave the ending up to you and what you see fit. i do have some suggestions though with:

1) one ends up concluding that their feelings for the other is romantic whilst the other doesn't feel the same way and has concluded that they are better off remaining as friends instead—this would probably be in a scene where they're perhaps on one of their dates and the one who holds romantic feelings thought they read the atmosphere right and believed that they were going to kiss on the lips. they remain as friends but their relationship becomes strained and they start distancing themselves away from each other, focusing more on their career.

2) they both end up confessing that they believe that their feelings are indeed romantic and proceed to make it official by confirming it to those close to them with reactions often along the lines of people going, "finally!". with the two being official, marine and lucas find themselves being quite romantic yet awkward with each other, finding it difficult to say that they're boyfriend or girlfriend in spite of them having found no trouble with saying those titles whatsoever prior to them dating when they were joking and playing about. no one knows whether they prefer their behaviour before or after they have officially gotten together for both are as vomit-inducing as the other. 

3) they end up believing that the dates they have gone on had not really shown much for although they had been fun and rather enjoyable, they believe that it just emphasises how good and better they are at just remaining as friends and so they did with the two making jokes around that certain dilemma.

4) they end up officially getting together but had been caught by dispatch and other korean tabloids who happened to have been trailing on them for quite a while from when they started having those 'dates'. they weren't too happy about it especially due to how it ruined the ideal scenario of keeping things private to the public eye and not wanting to cause any major inconvenience to their groups. mixed reactions by fans and the general public—ends up testing whether they can survive and last under the scrutiny of those who are against the relationship.

current status: close friends

trivia: 
- marine and lucas have around about a 20cm height gap and so loves to use marine as an arm rest. he also likes to about how short she is (even though she isn't that short and it is just that he's too tall).
- lucas finds it amusing to 'scare' and creep up behind her which is often reacted to with a scream and her hitting or elbowing him before coughing and returning to a calmer state.
- often would be found speaking in english (with a mix of korean) with each other with lucas finding her accent adorable. marine and lucas tried to teach each other french and cantonese but it only lasted for quite a brief amount of time since their accents were so bad. the best they learnt and remembered were profanities.  they would sometimes use google translate for certain words or phrases the other may not understand which can lead to very funny scenarios.
- lucas had mentioned that he would like it if she refers to him by his real name but marine finds it rather difficult to pronounce and when he was to debut and was given the stage name of lucas, she just called him that, preferring to stick with using 'lucas' or nicknames derived from it like 'lukie', 'lucs' or 'luca'.
- whenever they would jokingly flirt with each other, they can get a bit too much as they go along and friends or members who end up hearing it would often gag or cringe.
- they share a liking towards rings. marine only had one which had been gifted by her parents whilst lucas has a collection of rings. he kind of forgot to get her a birthday present for her 19th birthday and as a last-minute effort, he ended up gifting her a ring from his collection, one in which he originally bought for himself but had gotten in a wrong size which he had been quite upset about since it didn't have a return or exchange policy. marine found it pretty and would sometimes be seen wearing it with her other ring.
- at times, he finds marine's 'babying' of yangyang to be annoying mostly due to the fact that marine gives yangyang 90% of the attention and that he sometimes doesn't understand and can't keep up with some of marine and yangyang's conversations due to references or topics mentioned that he is not familiar with.
- the two have talked about their hometowns to one another quite a lot with both mentioning how it would be fun to visit.
- during trainee days, marine would usually ask a friend to accompany her to a cafe or shop she has heard good things about and more often than not, lucas was the one who had usually been free and so would go together. marine will more often than not end up buying something which she would later ask him to carry for her and as they have become more familiar with each other, he just ends up grabbing and carrying her bags or whatever without her needing to ask. it has become second nature to him.
- when listing friends, marine and lucas have both mentioned each other somewhere in their thanks to section on their respective group's debut albums.
- with how hyper lucas can be and how marine suffers from 'social exhaustion', they (as well as many others) question how they are even friends in the first place.
- just about every single interaction between them isn't complete with marine facepalming at lucas making some sort of sound effect or what marine dubs as him making a tomfoolery of himself.
- marine knows about lucas being a fanboy of actress kim sohyun and teases him about it whilst at times also reminding him how she's 'friends-ish' with the actress and has her number.
- skinship which are normal between the two would be linking arms, hugs, head leaning against shoulder (only really possible if sat down due to the height gap) etc, and in their 'sort of dating' stage, the closest to a kiss would probably be a forehead kiss or a kiss on the hand which they both end up getting a shiver from, not knowing whether they like or don't like it but continue doing it anyway.
- marine cries quite a number of times may it be from a film, video or something and no matter how many times lucas had witnessed it, he either remains frozen and not knowing what to do or start freaking out for he doesn't really know how to handle a crying girl.
- marine often sends him (and others) links or pictures of things she finds nice and would like to buy. even if he happens to not like it and tell her not to buy it, she still gets it anyway.
- they have a game wherein they try to take pictures of the other in the least flattering light and make memes or stickers out of it. marine usually wins.

"hello, everyone! blue moon's clair de lune, marine here; it's an absolute pleasure to meet you all!" as marine says this, she smiles warmly and bows her head down towards the camera. in her mind, she is amused by her greeting and how it rhymes but simultaneously, she can't help but flinch ever so slightly at how cheesy it is.

"personally, i find it rather fun and interesting on both the members' and potential fans' part for with us, it lets each girl to showcase their talents, skills and flare but it also helps build excitement for fans as they anticipate what and who is to come next as well as make it seem that they know us on a more personal note as they grow with us." marine nods, agreeing to the statement.

marine lets out a nervous twinkle of laughter as she then tilts her head to the side and scratches the back of her head. she pauses for a second or two before responding.

"Well... I never really seriously considered or played with the idea of wanting to become an idol. after all, I had been taken into the company for acting and it hadn't been too long from when I joined when they decided that becoming an idol would be better for me in the long run." 

she bites  her bottom lip and tilts her head once again to the opposite side as she ponders this question more deeply. 

she then continues and says, "i remember having attended secondary school and the topic of future careers having been discussed and i never really had realistic clue of what i wanted to be or do. However...I do fondly remember this specific part of my childhood wherein whenever i had visited my grandparents' home, they would often play films from the golden age of hollywood and would sometimes take me out to watch performances at a theatre such as one of ballet and recalled how i wanted to be a famous performer and had been enamoured by famous icons like gene kelly, audrey hepburn and the like so the opportunity of being able to debut under blue moon to sing and dance feels surreal to me, a childhood wish that had been granted."

"i think my biggest inspiration would have to probably be my...parents?" she questions her answer out loud, thinks about it for a second or two before nodding. "yes, my parents. they have done so much for me and have taught me so much. they actually weren't so keen on me taking up the decision to leave france to train and debut but they have been so supportive and ever so present throughout everything. I-I-" marine's voice becomes slightly shaky with her eyes slightly getting teary as talking about her parents remind her of how she misses them dearly and is homesick. marine tries to go back to being composed. she clears her throats and resumes what she was meaning to say. "i'm sorry. I ended up getting a bit emotional there. anyway...as i was saying, i think my parents are very admirable people and i aspire to be as grounded, happy and successful as they are..."

"i feel as though winning number one on a music show or winning awards such as rookie group of the year seem to be a rite of passage for many idol groups, but that doesn't necessarily define longevity or success."

marine pauses, trying to recall what she has intended to say next and suddenly realises what she had previously said could be interpreted rather negatively, and quickly she adds,"and don't get me wrong, they are indeed wonderful  accomplishments to achievE. but i hope that in the long run, blue moon becomes a household name in which have gained the public's recognition, acknowledgment and praise of our talents and skills both domestically and internationally. i would like our group to be able to leave a legacy upon many and be remembered as one of those legendary groups that have come to exist and rise every once in a blue moon."

she sighs then smiles softly."it will be difficult and there will be many obstacles and such to face and overcome but... c'est la vie."
