birthname Choi Yeonhee
birthdate 04/01/1996
birthplace Daegu, SK
hometown Daegu, SK
ethnicity Korean

faceclaim Red Velvet Joy
backup OMG Mimi
height & weight 163cm & 50kg
appearance With long dark hair and expressive eyes, Yeonhee sits with great posture and an air of quiet confidence. Her makeup is very natural and she enjoys a pretty lip tint. Her hair is almost always up in a pony-tail or messy bun as she dislikes it being in her face. Her eyes are actually naturally a lighter shade of brown than others around her, which is a point of vanity for her.
fashion Yeonhee is rather no frills, no nonsense sort of fashion sense. She keeps it real simple, her colors are often basic, and she doesn't really like patterns or too many frills. She does wear the occassional dress and skirt, but they also follow this style pattern. If you ever find Yeonhee in anything too bright, patterned, or very fashionable overall, 10/10 Jikyung dressed her that day.

personality

Pos] Logical, Warm, Patient, Sympathetic
[Neu] Self-Reliant, Private, Sensitive
[Neg] Cynical, Opinionated, Petty, Prideful

Okay, so you're doing this completely wrong. Yeonhee very rarely holds back her opinions on things if asked. She's not neccessarily mean about it but she gives it very directly and without some regard for what the consequences her words might have. It's just facts. Its not done will ill intent normally *see later about what normally means* if she doesn't have a reason to be mean to someone. She gives her opinions because she does care though. She wouldn't want someone to do something ignorantly without a chance to do something right. She approaches problems a step at a time. Patience is key. If you charge into an issue emotionally, you're going to make a mistake. Likewise, if you don't take time to explain something to someone or give them the benefit of the doubt and let them either realize their mistake or learn from it, you're doing a disservice to them and yourself. It's an interesting contradiction in her personality. She'll tell you honest facts and opinions but Yeonhee won't just come rushing at you with an emotional outburst. She cares too much to lash out like that at the very least.

You really want to go there? A girl never forgets. If anyone can hold a grudge, it's Yeonhee. Once you are on Yeonhee's bad side, you are forever on her bad side. It would take an act of god to make her change her mind. It's very hard for her to forgive people who insult her or her pride. She has a lot of self respext nowadays, so anyone who can't give her that in return risks being on her mental list of people who should be forever disliked. Yeonhee has been used and bullied a good deal of her life. Guarding herself in such a way helps her ensure others can't do it again in her adult life. There are times when she just becomes cynical about the things around her. Some might call her a pessimist, but Yeonhee just sees things as they are in reality. Typically, Yeonhee is more distant and distrustful of new people until they've proven otherwise. She can't help seeing the more negative side of things these days. An angry and vengleful Yeonhee is terrifying as her anger is quiet and subversive. Wrong Yeonhee, and she might hold the pettiest of grduges.

I might have been wrong...might is the important word though. Because Yeonhee is very private and keeps her personal thoughts on her situation to herself. She is not the type to explode or act in impulse. She relies on herself before anyone else with few exceptions. Feeding back into her sometimes overly cyncial personality she really thinks there is no one she can trust more than herself. If Yeonhee admits a mistake, you better believe it was after much deep thought and deliberation. What made more sense? Admitting defeat so she could get help, or dealng with her bad decision and not letting anyone ever know it was an issue? But with her pride, Yeonhee makes certain her work is up to parr. She won't let herself half anything. If she is helping someone, she helps them completely. Her pride won't allow her to be lazy about responsibilities. Yeonhee holds herself to a high standard. She doesn't need to be supervised to act like an adult.

Why are you frowning? Don't do that. But beneath the cynic is a warm person. Yeonhee does care for the people she surrounds herself with. She may be a little petty about some things, but it's because she is actually quite sensitive and gets her feelings hurt easily at times. Because she is sensitive though that means she is also sensitive to the people she surrounds herself with. She is actually very caring and will take however long it takes to ensure another person is comfortable. Even dumb questions aren't so dumb to her if it means they leave with a good undersanding and comfortably. She empathizes well with others and is always happy and willing to listen when they need it. She may not always be able to solve a problem, but Yeonhee will at least ensure that someone has a sympathetic ear to listen. When working with others, including her students she tutors, she keeps herself keenly aware of their needs and adjusts as needed whether its emotional or physical. You can bet around the cafe if she sees one of the other employees looking tired, she's one of the first to usher them out or to the back to take a nap.

background Yeonhee grew up in Daegu and is actually Jikyung's cousin on her mother's side. The youngrst of two children, her older brother is a secretary for a law firm back in Daegu while her father is an accountant and her mother school teacher. There really isn't anything to really speak to about her family. They're supportive and loving, and they all get along well. But while her home life was great, her school life left a lot to be desired.

Yeonhee used to be a quiet person who hated conflict and being noticed. People didn't mess with her because she was different from them. She was just an easy target. It was accepted that Yeonhee was the class scapegoat. This kept going until she was almost done with High School.

What Yeonhee did find peace in was video games. After she got her first computer from her parents Yeonhee discovered Starcraft and other mmos. Where she was weak and picked on in real life, she was so very good at the games.Video games gave her some confidence. Even if she couldn't fight back in school, she could defeat so many online. But Yeonhee found peace once she left high school to go to university.

And then she met one of the most popular boys in school, Lee Hyunwoo. He was beautiful and charming and everything she could ever have wanted. He took an interest in her and they dated for nearly 2 years. With him, she felt her confidence grow. He complimented her every chance he got. It was quite nice until she caught him wirth another girl. The truth is that he was originally dating her to get close to her and get help with his school work. How perfectly dramatic. He actually does like her: just not romantically. He still feels really bad about how it all went down. He'd like to make amends, but she refuses to speak with him and has lost contact with him since graduating university. The breakup was the gossip around the university for a while.

Tired of being used and stepped on by the people around her, once university was done Yeonhee wanted to move away. Since she was still nursing a broken heart and resentment from being used or so long Yeonhee just didn't want to be the same person anymore. She wanted to start over fresh. Their mothers spoke, and Yeonhee is told she could move in with her cousin Jikyung while she tried to get on her own feet.

So while Yeonhee has moved and is currently working on getting a full time job, Jikyung tells her she should consider working at the cafe for a little while since they need help. Yeonhee, even if she won't ever admit it, really would like the chance to start fresh somewhere. Maybe she'll actually like it long term. Right now, Yeonhee just wants something else that she's not finding in Daegu. It's time to start a new life.

relationships

Older Cousin and Roommate| Lee Jikyung, 26, may 24 1992. - FC: Lee Sungkyung
Traits:organized, ambitious, caring. steadfast, witty.
"Come out of the geek closet, you nerd!"

Jikyung and Yeonhee haven't always been close. They grew up most of their lives apart with Yeonhee's youth being mostly in Daegu. The few times they did meet in the past, they did get along similar like an older sister to younger sister. Jikyung remembers Yeonhee as a shy girl, but an avid gamer and would always for being a big, secret nerd. She is also very concerned about how well Yeonhee acclimates to her new home. She worries about how distant Yeonhee can be at times, but respects her enough to not press her too much on it. But if Jikyung ever meets any of those twats who made Yeonhee sad and miserable she will hurt them. Yeonhee's parents may have filled Jikyung in on Yeonhee's circumstances without telling Yeonhee they did.

They get along quite well and as roommates rarely get into disagreements. They are both organized and like to keep things tidy. Yeonhee often takes care of their shared home, cleaning and cooking and everything. Jikyung jokes that she basically has her own wife at home. Jikyung, though, does make it a point to bring her food and takeout when she comes home late, and tries to not disturb her should she and Minjin get into late night discussions.

Best Friend from Daegu | Im Sejun, 23, March 19, 1995. - FC: S.Coups (Seventeen)
Traits:Easy-going, Creative,
"Yeonhee, let's get food together."

One ofthe few people Yeonhee can actually say is her friend from school. Sejun was her senior in High School and one of the few people she was close to. They used to be in journalism clubs together and played starfcraft and other games together. They lost touch after university, but he came into MP one day and they reconnected. He's currently working as a clerk in a lawyer's office, and comes by at least every other day to get some coffee for the office and himself at MP, and maybe some lunch.

Some people assume he and Yeonhee would be a good couple, but he has never seen her as anything other than a good friend and vice versa. He's her best friend and they don't worry about the whole romantic thing with each other. Aside from Jikyung, Yeonhee confides in him the most and is usually okay with sharing her problems with him over anyone else. Reconnecting with him is one of the first good things to come from Yeonhee moving to Seoul and working at the cafe. He's offered to get her a job at his office if she wants it, but Yeonhee doesn't want to go there just yet.

PERSONALITY

[Pos]  Energetic, Honest, Flexible, Humorous
[Neu] Detailed,  Outspoken
[Neg] Irritable, Insecure, Arrogant, Jealous

LOVE STORY  Hyungseok and his friends often come by the cafe when they have free time just to goof off and play games. You can usually find the three of them crowded around a computer or console, playing some game rather laoudly and making a ruckus. But they pay and tip well, so usually the team working doesn't bother them too much. They are also regulars at any events the cafe does, so Minjin and Jikyung kind of expect to see them all the time.

(For reference, the other two are Kim Sungmin and Noh Wooyoung, same age, and if you need FCs you can use Hyunjae and Juyeon. Yes. These are a pretty boy trio.)

They are all studying computer science in university and use the cafe as not only a play spot, but also for some study sessions. They come by maybe once every two weeks or so. But that all changes when Yeonhee is running the front end one day. Hyungseok is shook. Who is this pretty girl he has never seen here before?

He tries to be the most charming, charismatic person ever. He saunters up to the counter and introduces himself. He has the most sefl-assured aura possible. No girl can resist it.

Or so he thinks.

Yeonhee just hands him his bill and tells him to have a nice day. Yeonhee isn't impressed. Hyungseok is very much like Hyunwoo and she ain't having it. But he will not be deterred. Hyungseok thinks her ability to turn him down is very captivating. This was a girl who stands on her own feet and doesn't immediately fawn over him or his friends. He actually wants to get to know her better now. This wasn't just a vapid girl. Yeonhee was worth some extra effort.

So Hyungseok is coming far more regularly, sometimes with his friends but also alone, to meet with her. At first, he tries to keep asking her out. Yeonhee always turns him down and tells him to stop asking her. "You're pretty face does nothing for me." "So you admit I'm good looking then?" "...get out."

Hyungseok is persistent. But he is also not too pushy. He keeps on trying. And he actually befriends quite a few of the staff at the cafe. One day however, he realizes he's messed up. He's failed an important exam. She hears him and his friends talking about it, and how he can take a make up exam, but he's freaking out over how will he pass. Well, it's a mathematics course. By now, Yeonhee does actually like him a little as a friendly customer, so she offers to tutor him a couple times a week at the cafe for a fee (she reduces it unknown to him). That's how they finally grow close enough for her to actually agree to go out with him a couple of times.

Hyungseok may seem arrogant and a little bit of a brat at times. But he is very insecure about his future. It's why he tries so hard to impress people around him and why he's working so hard to be a good student. Yeonhee feels sympathy towards him and likes this version she gets to see while studying with him more than the guy she met a while back. He is also far less experienced in women than he would like people to think. He talks a good game, but rarely has to follow through. Yeonhee is the first he has actively tried to pursue since high school. And this more vulnerable, honest version of himself is the one she actually ends up falling for.

Hyungseok really likes her a lot. Yeonhee actually likes him too. Enough that even after he passes his makeup exam, she still agrees to see him outside of work. But Yeonhee is a little hesitant to be in a relationship. What if Hyungseok is just like the others?

Will she give him a proper chance? Or will Hyungseok drive himself mad with jealousy over her relationship to others? Will she look at him like a man worthy of her loving gaze?! What does he have to do to get her to see him that way?! Hyungseok is a bit dramatic. His insecurities rise up to the point that Yeonhee talking comfortably to other men puts him on edge. He's especially worried about Sejun and Minjin. Why won't she look at him like she looks at them?!!

Spoilers: Because she doesn't like them the way she likes Hyungseok. After he explodes in the cafe at either Sejun or Minjin, Yeonhee walks him out and forces him to sit with her in a park to discuss why he is being such a brat. He finally tells her he likes/loves her, and he's sorry, but he can't help himself from feeling these things. Around her, all his normal bravado is useless, and he's left feeling insecure because he doesn't know where he stands with her and-

So Yeonhee kisses him to make him shut up.

For once, Yeonhee has the power in the dynamics. And she realizes she isn't going to lead him on or let him suffer if she can stop it. Besides, she'd been wanting to kiss him for a while.

From then on, they are officially together, and open to all the dramatics a normal couple could possibly face. As a couple, they tend to bring out the more positive aspects of their personalities, and can share a lot of interests. Seeing them bicker while trying to figure out a computer however is hilarious and should be recorded.

"hello, Yeonhee! i'm jikyung, one of the managers at mp! gaming cafe. tell me a little about yourself!" "WE LITERALLY LIVE TOGETHER..." "Shht. Just play along!" "...sigh."

"I graduated from university with a degree in business administration," she says simply. When Jikyung keeps staring at her, she sighs and just adds, "and I'm a fan of games. I also knit." "Really?" "I do. I can make you some socks if you want?" "Nice!"

"what made you apply for a job here? any experience?" "You literally just went to my graduation-" "That's not important." "...sigh."

"Currently I'm unemployed, and while my education can help me, it's not the easiest thing to find a job. So you," Yeonhee points at Jikyung who just feigns mock shock at the motion, "told me working here would be a good thing. If anything I'll be able to accrue practical experience while I'm here."

"know how to play any of the games here? we do tend to teach and facilitate some games!" "...I have no idea." "Get out of the nerd geek closet I saw you buying dice online." "Stop snooping on my shopping history!" "Use a new password!"

"Fine. Fine. I can play a lot of your PC games and I'm probably pretty good at teaching others how to play. i'm also interested  in your not so-cimputer games. Satisfied?" Yeonhee just rolls her eyes when Jiykung gives her a thumbs up and satisfied smirk.

"any events you want to suggest for the cafe? WE'RE OPEN TO IDEAS!"

"You know I'm bad at planning things like that," Yeonhee just grumbles a little as she thinks a moment, "have you actually had any tournaments yet? Proper tournaments with brackets? Might be a good way to get others to keep coming back? Maybe Cafe Employees versus the noobs or veterans? Stop smirking at me like that. No, I do not watch e-sports."

you have reached the end!

last words Yeonhee's theme is literally Don't Wanna Cry because I listened to it on repeat to get her done! I;m sorry if she feels rushed, but I wanted to get her done for you asap. Thanks for the patience ;~;

scene request
- Yeonhee drags out various co-workers to go try new food places as she finds them, and it helps the group bond.

- Some rude customers insult herself or better yet her co-workers and they have to face the icy wrath of an angry Yeonhee.

- Shopping with Jikyung and other "victim" for things she can use to create clothing or other fashionable accessories.

password "Um," Yeonhee actually doesn't know what to really say. But she then raises a fist and goes, rather flatly, "Woo...?"
