yurika doesn't have many physical fears, most of the time she looks confident and calm, unfazed by anything. she also has great critical thinking skills. she thinks quick, is creative and is highly skilled at making comebacks in arguments. though she does enjoy mindless debates because winning is important, she also fights for what is right. 

negative : elitist, skeptical, critical 

yurika only hangs out with people that are 'good enough'. she doesn't like it when incompetent people try too hard to fit into her circle or tries to challenge her. though, she is okay with them existing, she just doesn't like to mix with them until they do well enough. though she's talented and she is well aware of it, she is skeptical about the world and has a lot of distrust. once in a while she has that *glimmer of hope* moment but those are once in a blue moon. most of the time she does not believe in people at all. she is also highly critical about herself and others. she does not think that she is the best, but she believes that she is better than many. she is her own greatest critic but she is also very vocal about criticising others.

 

BACKGROUND:

born in shizuoka, japan in 1995, yurika grew up barely seeing her pilot parents. she lived in a fairly big house alone with a helper until her parent met with a plane crash in 2002 and she had to move over to her sole remaining relatives' home in toronto, canada.

her maternal grandparents moved to canada when her mom was a teenager and her mom moved back to japan when she married her dad.

her grandma was an opera singer in her youth, and that eventually influenced yurika heavily. she then enrolled in a performing arts school and received exceptional results. she was popular in her town and everyone saw her as an aspiring musician. she could sing, she could dance, she could act even at a young age.

her grandpa wasn't the nicest man. he often physically abused her grandma when he got drunk but she was too small to protect her grandma. her grandma passed on in 2011 when she was turning 16 and she escaped back to japan in fear. all these grew yurika to be an independent teenager and she restarted her life in japan with her grandma's leftover savings and some of her inheritance from her parents.

in japan, she jumped from motel to motel and she fed herself by busking and sometimes had to live on the streets. she did have the money, but many times she couldn't bear to spend them because she was afraid of losing everything or worse, getting cheated.

one fine day in 2011, she was busking around tokyo and was spotted by a scout from aniplex, an ainime and music production  company. she signed a contract that provided her food, shelter and cash. all she had to do was provide them with her voice. through the contract, she voiced a virtual announcer named anri rune which was released in 2012, flopped immediately and was turned into a vocaloid. the vocaloid existed until 2015 which ended yurika's contract as well. then, the company had many talented voice actors and actresses and yurika became forgotten. she wasn't the best looking and with her androgynous image, the company did not want to sign her as an actual artist either. thus, they dropped her completely. 

losing her job, she begin to audition for other companies but to no avail. of course, which legit japanese company would want a girl like that to voice their high pitched anime girls with big s? imagine the fanboys saw how the voice actress looked like, their gonna throw her rotten eggs. 

yurika went back to busking on the streets and as the times move on, people have began to accept her difference and she begins to gain a small following on her social media. she could feed herself and life was a bit of a stretch but all is well until in late 2016, a staff from her ex-company contacted her again.

they went to school together back in canada and they still contact each other throughout the years. wendy would send yurika money sometimes even when she didn't come from a well off family. back in school, they dreamt of becoming musical actresses together and conquering great stages. though that didn't happen, their friendship remains. wendy had also travelled to japan a few times to visit yurika throughout the years.

they trained together for a year in sony japan before miki went on to train with other girls that were more suitable to be in a girl group. miki was a voice actress and idol in training. she was very talented and kind-hearted, sometimes she could be a pushover. rika often stood up for her when other rookie actresses tried to bully her.

hayato is a friendly big brother figure to yurika. he teases her quite a bit but he's often the one helping yurika find minor voicing roles. he was the person that recommended yurika to get into sony music japan. some staffs had even spreaded rumours about hayato and yurika dating.

TRAINEE YEARS:  3 years (2016 - 2019)

TRAINEE LIFE:

in 2016, aniplex called her up. being a sub label of sony music japan, aniplex had her contact and recommended her to sony music japan. they called her up for an audition and she was instantly accepted. she signed a trainee contact with sony music japan with the hope of becoming a trained artist. she was trained to sing, dance and act, along with voice acting. the company also made her so multiple cameo roles for animes when they needed voice actors. throughout the years and months, she would train together with other girls and it wasn't until the middle of 2018 that the company revealed to her that they were actually forming an idol girl group but it was difficult to fit yurika in because she was so different so they sent yurika to start on her solo project. by the end of 2018, yurika released her first single, and it flopped.

in early 2019, when yurika thought the company was about to drop her, but they announced that they were sending her to a korean survival show to be in a girl group with the promise that if she makes it big in korea, she's going to stand a chance at debuting as a musical actress. yurika knew that she was a little special and she could possibly attract enough attention. so holding onto that glimmer of hope, yurika took a step of faith and agreed.

i can do anything honestly. i'm an actress i can be cringey-ly cute or deadly scary... or both at the same time really. i like going out of my comfort zone, but nothing is too out of reach for me.
