APPEARANCE :

— Channer has short, raven-black hair that he usually combs neatly to the side. He has a wide forehead, a thin face, and no facial hair. His eyebrows are dark and curved at the ends, and his eyes are a light blue-gray color. His skin is extremely pale due to a combination of genetics and the fact that he rarely goes outside. He is quite tall and gangly, with long limbs and thin shoulders that accentuate his skinny frame.

STYLE :

— Channer dresses in business casual most of the time, except for formal occasions. His wardrobe consists mostly of blue, gray, and black button-up shirts and khaki pants that he wears when he's not working. His outfits, both work and casual, are also completed with long white socks and black Oxford dress shoes.

Channer is painfully shy, to the point where he cannot look people in the eye, and he usually talks to others with his head down, especially if they are directly in front of him. The only person he can make genuine eye contact with is his younger sister, mostly because he grew up with her. Channer's lack of social skills and timid nature also make him an extremely awkward person to be around, and he knows it. If he is forced into a social setting and has to make small talk, his few comments make people look at him strangely since he is unable to correctly read the atmosphere due to his inexperience in interacting with others. Because he is aware that he makes social gaffes, Channer becomes even more self-conscious and that cycles into heightened nervousness.

Channer is very cowardly as well and he tries to avoid confrontation as much as he can. However, his spineless disposition made it easy for others to bully him while he was at Hogwarts. Although most people eventually fight back or learn to stand up to their bullies, Channer has always run away from his problems instead and he pretends they don't exist as his coping mechanism. Channer is also quite passive, especially since he would rather melt into the background as a by-stander instead of stand out with a painted target on his back. It is easier and safer to go with the flow than it is to retaliate against those who treat him like dirt.

Having been bullied so much as an already sensitive child, Channer has grown to be relatively more anxious and wary of others than the average person is. His anxiety exacerbates his almost nonexistent social skills and he is extremely uncomfortable when surrounded by many people, especially strangers. Channer prefers to be alone and the only time he is able to really shed his nervousness is when he talks about academics with like-minded people. Because he is so vulnerable, he wears his heart on his sleeves and is unable to conceal any of his emotions, even if he tries to. Channer is someone who will openly cry, even if it supposedly emasculates him, because he feels too powerless to keep his feelings at bay.

Since he tries to stay out of trouble as much as possible, especially because of how he was bullied in school, Channer is obedient and submits to authority quite easily. If someone tells him to do something, he will most likely do it. There are few things that Channer will refuse to do, such as cast the Unforgivable Curses, which is against the law anyway. Even if he disagrees with what he is told to do, he is too afraid of the consequences that may befall him to say no. This blind obedience and meekness causes Channer to be a pushover, and he has been taken advantage of many times throughout his life.

When it comes to academics, Channer is completely focused and he thrives in an environment where he can unleash all of his knowledge on magical theory. He is highly intelligent, like most Ravenclaws are, and has an analytical mind. When trying to solve theoretical problems and make new discoveries, Channer is powered by logic alone, leaving no room for insecurities to cloud his mind. He knows what he wants to achieve with his work and he strives to reach those goals with every brain cell he has. This extreme focus on academia also helps Channer forget that he is an otherwise emotionally weak person with virtually no backbone.

BACKGROUND : Channer was born in London, England, on March 9, 1974, to Timon and Linette Lindberg. Two years later, his younger sister, Adeline, became the newest addition to the Lindberg family. Channer grew up in a standard magical household, since both of his parents are wizards. However, since his father is Muggleborn, some Muggle customs, like sending mail through the post office, are also part of their daily lives. Because they still keep in contact with Timon's side of the family and they visit them on rare occasions, the Lindbergs learned how to pass off as Muggles for any special family events.

Growing up, Channer always felt a bit like the odd one out. It became more apparent that he was the black sheep of the family when he was began attending Hogwarts after receiving his letter on his eleventh birthday, since he was sorted into Ravenclaw. Both of his parents had been sorted into Hufflepuff when they attended Hogwarts in the past and two years after Channer was sorted, his younger sister was also sorted into Hufflepuff. While he was proud of being a Ravenclaw, especially because he believed that house's philosophies best matched his own, Channer couldn't help but feel like he was detached from his family since he was different and he began to gradually withdraw from them, even though they had emphasized multiple times that there was nothing wrong with him being sorted into a different house than Hufflepuff.

In addition to feeling lonely within his family, Channer found himself unable to make any real friends at Hogwarts. He was more interested in studying and reading books, and his weak social skills made it difficult for him to connect with anyone who tried to befriend him during his early years at Hogwarts. As a small and awkward child, Channer was also an easy target for bullies. He found that it was easiest to just keep his head down and retreat to the library where Madam Pince would be his indirect shield, since no students dared to face her wrath for disrupting the peace in her domain. Throughout his time at Hogwarts, the library became Channer's haven and he spent more time there than he did anywhere else at school.

As years passed and Adeline also began attending Hogwarts, Channer got slightly better at interacting with his classmates. It was mostly due to people wanting to study with him, since he had some of the highest grades in his year and his notes were very thorough. Channer was also better at interacting with others if the conversation was purely academic-based, especially if the topic was on magical theory. However, he still clammed up whenever girls asked to study with him and his female classmates learned to ask Adeline if her older brother could help them instead of asking him directly, since Channer would more than likely look down and awkwardly shuffle away without giving them a clear answer.

After graduation, Channer joined the Floo Network Authority and now works as a Floo Network Regulator. He moved up to a relatively senior position by 1997, due to how he reworked parts of the system to be more efficient. With his extensive knowledge on magical theory, he made it easier for the Floo Network Regulators to monitor the fireplaces and he reduced the number of mistakes made by the system when people traveled by Floo powder. Channer is currently working on a solution to completely eliminate any errors within the system, which includes compensating for human mistakes, so that Floo travel can become the most streamlined mode of transportation available in the wizarding world.

Channer has no intention of actively fighting against Lord Voldemort, even though rumors have spread that he has returned. He wants to stay as far away from the war as he possibly can, because he is terrified of having to face the Death Eaters and he is even more terrified of possibly becoming a casualty. Channer likes his life right now, peaceful and predictable, and he doesn't want anything to shatter this illusion of stability.

— He learned how to play the violin when he was younger and he occasionally practices nowadays, usually when he is extremely stressed out from work.

— He wonders what dates are like, even though he's too terrified to even think about actually asking out a girl since he gets extremely tongue-tied around any girl other than his younger sister.

— He spends most of his free time reading and studying magical theory.

— He doesn't like eating sweets and prefers salad over meat, but is not a vegetarian.

— He is awful at sports and anything else that requires athleticism.

FAMILY :

Channer is not very close to his father, since they are both relatively quiet people. Timon has tried to bond with his son several times in the past, but Channer's standoffish nature has made it difficult for the two men to connect on a deeper level. When Channer moved out after graduating from Hogwarts, Timon decided to take a more hands-off approach and wait for his son to eventually ask to spend time with him, since Channer is now an adult and is entitled to spend time with whoever he chooses, even if his father isn't included.

Linette tends to baby Channer, especially since he is her more introverted child. Channer treats his mother with the utmost respect, but he doesn't feel very close to her either since their personalities are quite different. However, Linette doesn't take his aloofness to heart and she does her best to show him that she is his biggest supporter, since she knows her son isn't the most open person around.

Adeline is basically the only girl that Channer can have a normal conversation with, since she is a family member and he feels comfortable around her. Due to Channer's lack of friends, the two siblings are relatively close and Adeline does her best to help him break out of his shell by introducing him to her friends. Sometimes, it seems like Adeline is the older sibling of the two, due to how much she takes care of and looks out for Channer.

IF YOU HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE WAR EFFORT, WOULD YOU? WHY OR WHY NOT? :

"No... It really doesn't make sense to me... Why would people willingly throw away their lives, especially knowing how powerful You-Know-Who is? He's shown that he's completely capable of coming back after what happened with The Boy Who Lived. Since that wasn't enough, I don't know what is. He also has a legion of Death Eaters behind him and they're some of the most powerful wizards in the world. So I'm staying as far away as I can from this war."

Are you worried about possibly being one of the casualties of war? :

"Of course. I don't want to die. Death is scary and I'm not ready to die. There are too many unknown variables surrounding death. And it isn't stupid to fear the unknown, regardless of what anyone says. That fear has driven humans to survive for so long. Not to mention, I'm only twenty-three. I just started moving up the ranks in the Ministry. I can't die yet."

Do you think you could kill someone for any reason? :

"I don't think so... I'm not a killer. I'm not a bad person. I won't take another person's life. I can't do it."
